"If I would have said super hero movies, I would have said super hero movies."
- James Rolfe, 2019
absolute savage
Club snippy.
"Everything is like something"
"Everything is always a skull"
What happened to the Angry Nerd James? He seems like a regular guy in these videos :(
*I miss AVGN*
89 batman killed so many of jokers men. And he blew up a chemical plant
I'm pretty sure Batman 89 killed as many or more henchmen than Batfleck did in BVS but for some reason that couple guys who get killed in the car chase are martyrs compared to the one who got thrown off the clock tower.
I love that film, and yeah who knows how many people were working the chemical plant that day. 🤣
What are you talking about?! Batman doesnt kill,he never kills, have never killed and will never kill, get real bro!
😜
@@leov3569 And no one ever mention the possible damage to the environment that must be done when blowing up a freaking chemical plant. I guess we know why there is a big thick layer of cloud at all time for the bat signal to shine on. lol
*Those are ROOKIE numbers*
Affleck Batman
Darkwing Duck uses a gun and doesn't kill people. "Suck gas, evildoers!"
Lets get dAngerous!
I am the terror that flaps in the night.
I like it when Mike dresses like a sports coach.
Ok this one caught me off guard. Lmao
He has a very Russian fashion sense
This made me lol.
Better than a sports couch.
Even James looks like a hiker
"Deploy the Batman leg move"
I'm dying of laughter
Should have played some Dreamcast today for the 20th anniversary
They should have but they film these pretty far in Advance as far as I've heard. They might not of even realized it till it was too late. I figure that Mike has to own one.
@@TotallyRadical one of them does. They did Seaman for DC on AVGN
"The dream is over."
Came here just to say this!
@@edwardiii8409
The dream will NEVER die
Danny De Vito should play Fester in the Fester's Quest movie!
🤣 that would be hilarious and amazing
That would be a good movie
That's a pretty good idea! But I think Mr. Rolfe and Mr. Matei should actually try to get Christopher Lloyd and play Addams Family: Fester's Quest! That would be awesome and so surreal! 🤘😃
@@zacharycollins9485 Anything with Christopher Lloyd in it is bound to be a good time (Food fight never happened).
@@juliabrnssr Haha I feel that brothaman
The Gameboy Color intro was pure gold, all the custom console intros are awesome guys.
wish it was the purple gameboy color tho 🤔
5:50 Watching how James got game over was hilarious to me.
Same. The way he just stay in place to have Batman's face blown by a rocket was funny.
A rocket launcher? No problem! I'll just deploy a few Batman leg moves.
These videos are of great company, especially at night. I live completely alone and some nights are melancholic to say the least
Batman seems "extra" popular lately because it's the 80th Anniversary of Batman and the 30th anniversary of the 89 film.
Love the 1989 Batman film
19:10 In the ‘89 Batman, he says, “I’m GONNA kill you,” and he clearly does mean it.
I would love to see them playing Contra Hard Corps.
best Contra imo
Theres a new Contra on the Switch this month.
and get all the different endings
that would be shortest episode so far
@@ksysinf Nah they are both decent at contra I am pretty sure they have done several contra videos.
Batman the Movie by Ocean on various computer systems was very close to the movie.
Stage 1: Platform through Axis Chemicals chasing down Jack
Stage 2: Driving through Gotham avoiding police roadblocks
Stage 3: Puzzle stage trying to find antidote to Smyle
Stage 4: Flying through Gotham snagging the Joker's poison balloons
Stage 5: Platform through Cathedral chasing after the Joker
For 1989, it was pretty damn cool.
is everyone else getting the sega classic thing as the ad video? i keep thinking it's going to be a mike edit..but nope just sega. haha
I got is and just found it funny that they used the song yet could only say "Genesis does what". As the original song was all about saying how its better than Nintendo. Yet Sega got their asses handed to them in the console wars. So its not like they can brag about what their classic console does compared to Nintendo.
Nah
When James was talking about the "realism" in King Kong, I was reminded of a guy I knew when I was a teenager.
He really, really hated all forms of Japanese storytelling, but especially fantasy stuff, and would make complaints like "In Final Fantasy, Cloud wouldn't be able to wield a sword that big in real life, it's so unrealistic"
Yeah, but Cloud's a genetically modified super soldier (albeit a failed one) who can leap twenty stories into the air unaided
I think that's a smidgen more unrealistic than "big sword" myself
Mario never does any real plumbing!
Our day just got brighter. Thanks James and Mike!!!
Don't you mean it just got darker?
I'm Batman...the Dark Knight!
Oops...forgot to create a new youtube account before making this reply...D-oh!
Well said hahaha
You know when mike's ready to play, when he gets tired of watching James die over and over
@@bubgrewal hahaha yes!
20:12 Mike's "no!" Sounds exactly like Michael Scott from The Office saying "no!"
This comment needs more likes.
I love the soundtrack in this game. I wish we'd get Little V Mills to cover some of the songs on here.
I had this for genesis so thank you guys for playing this game brought me back wonderful memories 🙏🏾💪🏾🤘🏾
Please bring this series back. These are the most relaxing and enjoyable vids.
It's not often you find a series that really feels like sitting around with your buddies playing clasic games!
Michael keaton aloof?
"Who let Vicki Vail into the batcave? I'm sitting there... Oh hey Vic."
Nate Kline It was moments like that which is why I like BATMAN RETURNS better
The museum was full of Batman stuff because it’s the 80th anniversary of the character. Just so happens that the Tim Burton film is 30 years old this year too.
I don't know what it is, but Mike looks suspiciously similar to the joker of the early avgn episodes!
Tomaten Mark Yeah he played the joker in the early episodes
@@DataBlinx You don't say ;)
1:22 "You didn't invite me, so I CRASHED!"
Hell yeah, forgot it was Monday.
Total Recall on NES is kinda accurate. Pretty much all the levels of the game are in the movie.
Hahahaha 😂 Mike does look like Pete Best. Nice
LOVED this game when it came out in '91. Fantastic soundtrack as well.
It looks like they might come out with another Batman movie if they're promoting Batman like you're saying. Hopefully, it'll be Batman vs. Predator.
That would actually be a good matchup...I'd pay to see that crossover! Great idea man... Batman vs Predator!
Give Prime-1 comment some likes people!
It comes out in 2021. Robert Pattinson is the new Batman
@@pex_the_unalivedrunk6785 Thanks !
"Why does Batman not use a gun?"
Oh I don't know, might have something to do with the fact that HIS PARENTS WERE SHOT TO DEATH?!
Thank YOU Batman vowed never to use a gun (of course after his vigilante phase post 1945ish)
Joaquin Phoenix had to call Mike, for tips on how to play Joker 😎
no
Michael Keaton wore 89 Air Jordans on his feet when he played role as... Batman!👍 Lot people don't know that
James and Mike should try Chakan: the Forever Man on Genesis. That game was to Sega what Dark Souls is to Xbox and PlayStation. Extremely difficult.
Difficult and a ...-rewarding- ending meheheheheh...
Stay for the post-credits in this game. You should~
I played that for the game gear very hard game
James impression of his dad made me want to hear his dad talk.
"Honestly, I really like these Tom Holland Spider-Man movies a lot."
I got bad news for you Mike....
Not really... They still gonna make spiderman movies with Holland
@@TungstenViper not gonna be the same
Good news for me!
You two would dig the recent arcade game where you drive all the coolest Batmobiles around an open world Gotham City.
TheLadsBand4ever they still make arcade games? Haha
Its batman's 80 year anniversary that's why hes so popular right now.
That excuse comes around every 5 years. I remember all the fuzz about the 75th.
Mike should be the next Batman, and just swear the entire time while he's fighting like he does at the end of this vid xD
James looks like the guy on the Power Blade cover.
Kinda but the dude on the cover reminds more of Tarantino or Schwarzenegger.
I sure do love James Rolfe and Michael Matei Mondays
Yup I agree.🤗
Agreed
Well, we have the new Robert Pattinson Batman interviews that came out recently, so maybe that's why James feels that Batman's more popular right now.
This game was really hard to get the controls right in my experience
Technically he was the original drummer, Stu Sutcliffe was the 5th Beatle, the original bass player.
Back in the 80s, Batman started using guns loaded with rubber bullets.
big D Mike at it again
Ol BIG D mike! Love it!
17:00 OMG! James Rolfe is Batman!? How could we miss this!?
I always thought they could just cast any random dude as Batman but they should hire Kevin Conroy to dub all his lines
This looks very much like the C64 game.
I remember once I was waiting for it to load and I was just spamming random stuff on the keyboard. All sorts of things, from "I am Batman" to random gibberish.
I managed to activate a cheat mode for infinite lives. I then completed the game in a unexpected playthrough.
That cosmetics level was the hardest in the game, so finally getting past that was such a joy.
James: "The Spider-man movie with Electro was OK."
*Face palm*
Mike looks like he ain’t slept since ‘98
Mate Cinemassacre defo getting money but I can’t see them blunting up🤣
Adventures of Batman and Robin on Genesis would be fun to watch James and Mike play
As another Kevin R, i can get on board with that.
@@kevinr.3542 We Kevin R.'s must stick together
Loved the end edits of MIKE 😆
Anyone get the impression Mike's the one that actually likes games?
Mikes the game guy. James the movie guy.
Yeah. James liked games, but most of the idea for the nerd and a lot of the channel's early content was thought up by Mike, but the title CINEMAssacre was James.
Angry Video Game Mike.
Mike is definitely the cliche "get mad when playing games". James is a lot more soft spoken and chill about it. It does happen to him as well, but not to the same extent and ease.
I'm just now wondering; in what other hobby is it so ingrained people get this frustrated?
I do wish they focus more on playing the game. James seems like he has outgrown playing them. Mike still has it.
Have you seen James play Contra?
I watch avgn every single day (and I mean every day). Mike is one of the best parts of avgn.
This feels like sitting down with old friends :')
“This is a bitch!” 😂 nice outro of rage
In my opinion batman 1989 arcade was the best. It had accurate enimes, it had the soundtrack and all the scenes were in order.
Although the game was gorgeous on the graphics department, audio was awesome; the fighting mechanics for gameplay was horrendous.
*James & Mike:* Names every other superhero movie.
*Christopher Nolan & Christian Bale:* Are we a fucking joke to you?!
If he's gotta go, go with a smile.
Finally! One of the most nostalgic games for me, awesome to see it here. I have waited for this J&MM for long!
Was just playing Arkham City 3hours ago. Batman games are always fun.
I like how the knife guy was knocked out with one hit in the movie but they made him a boss.
I havent had time to watch this 20+ minute video but i already like it
What do you mean you haven't had time? It literally got posted 14 min ago 😂😂😂
This game is still so good!!
Batman has a Pistol in the Gameboy game.
U can tell Mikes a real gamer, looks tired as hell lol stays up for 30 hours playing some crazy new release, awesome man
It's a decent game, not quite as creative (no wall jump for example) but also not as frustrating as the NES one and I liked the shooter levels. Great music.
My minor gripe as well... platforming levels a little blah; difficulty was too easy even on *hard*
The look on james’ face when mentioning fester’s quest was priceless
"Well, there were dinosaurs, too, so that's unrealistic."
Having dinosaurs in our modern world doesn't magically change aerodynamics and atmospheric effects. This is the lowest tier comeback to a complaint about unrealistic things. "OH, Herschel had infinite ammo? WELL THERE'S ZOMBIES, SO THERE!"
Yeah, you're right. Because zombies exist, therefore ammo becomes infinite, so long as you type idfa. You got me, everything makes sense now.
Alright
I'm gonna be honest I just love Mike Matei. I can so relate to him when it comes to excruciatingly difficult videogames that make you so goddamn mad. I have slapped many a couch cushions and spent probably a small fortune on new game controllers because I wind up throwing mine at walls and destroying them.
You guys should play mega turrican on sega genesis 😃
that Mike Matei Live outro was pretty fuckin awesome!
I completely forgot it was Monday until I got this notification.
Tim Burton's Batman came out in the UK on August 11th, 1989.
I always remember that date, because everyone was going about with Batman logo T-shirts, with AUGUST 11 under it. The level of hype was insane.
Now this looks like a Batman game. NES version looks like reskinned post-apocalyptic sci-fi... something.
Would rather play the NES game until forever than ever have to watch this garbage game for another 5 min. If my introduction to Batman would be through this game, boy would have i hated the entire super hero franchise
Batman the movie is 30 years old, Batman the character is 80 years old.
And I'm happy that Mike did the Mario thing and made Batman jump on an enemy.
The commadore Amiga version was great and a big part of my early gaming experience and very closely followed the movie, would love to see you give it a try
Amiga and great don't belong in the same sentence.
"Skitchen" on the mega drive. Remember that used to drive me mad as a kid!
I loved that game
my favorite Batman game next to the Nes Batman
The Batman NES is such a great game with just the righy kind of difficult & absolutely gorgeous for a NES title.
@Sparten 117
And I prefer the SNES adventures of batman and robin, shitty batmobile level and all.
@@Invidente7 Same
@Sparten 117 The Arkham games are awesome
@@jkajmo Agree
Hahaha that laugh at the end when he beat joker was amazing
20:04 Mike is turning into the Nerd..or maybe he was the nerd the entire time.
I think that's all The Joker really needs: regular rehab. Who knows, the twelve steps could turn him right around.
IM BATMAN
I missed the part of the movie where Joker learns the Power Wave from the Bogard family.
My favorite version of James and Mike Mondays is this version. Where Mike is playing the game and James is talking. It's so much more entertaining!
The "fifth Beatle" was always the fans. At least, that was the record company PR answer...
I like that the video that I was watching directly before you uploaded this was another James & Mike Monday! (Doom)
Shout out to Mike for actually finishing the games on his own. MVP
Have you guys ever played BATMAN RETURNS on SNES? I have it and it's one of my favorite SNES games.
James Perkins James played it in an avgn episode I believe
James looks and sounds like 'Captain' Tim Watters from the Deep Space 9 episode "Valiant"
That....is pretty specific and quite obscure...(checking Google images because I wasn't the biggest DS9 fan)
Yeah...actually yeah he kind of does....if he lost the glasses. Wow. You must've watched that recently.
@@pex_the_unalivedrunk6785 I watch it every few years
Without the glasses James looks more like Board James ......
Mike looks like the foreign guy from the Usual Suspects. Seriously, look it up.
Must be the 30th anniversary of that Tommy jacket, too. ;) Love the vids, guys. Thank u
I’d say 20th. He picked it up with his Dreamcast 9/9/1999 😂😁
😂
yay
When I went to watch this video, I got a "Genisis does what Nintendon't" commercial. I 100% thought I was watching the video but wasn't... 🤔
Except they just use the sega does because Nintendo kicked their ass and still going
Would be cool if you guys played more n64 and ps1 maybe ps2 much love though 👌
One of the games of my childhood. The music kicks so much ass !!
You guys play Bloodstained:Curse of the Moon yet it might be worth a shot especially if you like castlevania
Not too long ago, a random dude in a bar came up to me and said that I look like the foster home dad from the Shazam movie.
He was picking you up
