yeah the GTAish gameplay is when the map opens up and you are able to leave the school grounds. you can skateboard, cycle and use a vespa style moped to get around the map

He never stopped playing games. He's just not familiar with the more recent titles. He still prefer to play the older stuff though.
Just because someone doesn't typically play current stuff that doesn't mean they've stopped playing. Retro gamers pretty much play everything in their own sweet time. We don't skip boat loads of games just because their old, we scour all of gaming history. And that takes time. We're always playing something, we're just on a different time table. This is something non-retro gamers seem to have a hard time understanding.
Like I say to my friends, "I don't have to play everything as soon as it comes out. I'll get to it when I get to it."

Well in the game there's a potato launcher, a rocket launcher (firework), and even a giant rubber ball (I think that's only in the Scholarship edition, though).
I never understood the "total outrage" of this game when it released, putting it in such horrible light in public media when the message of the game is to stand up to bullies, you become a defender of those who can't defend themselves and bully the bullies, it's a great turn around.

Red dead is great for the new RAGE engine. I still wish they'd bring it to the PC like GTA IV and V, but the forgotten classic has to be The Warriors. Was such a great game.
The game really gets better as you go along! You guys barely saw what the game has to offer. As you progress, seasons change and the world opens up and you can explore the whole city and you get bikes and skateboards and learn new fighting combos. And there are some really fun and creative missions as well, like the "Panty Raid" mission on Halloween lol.

Some Atari games are evergreen. They are never outdated because they are simple and fun concepts.
However not all games age well, this is especially true for sandbox games.
3d polygons from this era age a lot more than simple pixel graphics.
I like Mike, he's funny and goofs around and all that, but *MAN* can he come across as dumb or ignorant at times, sometimes he doesn't really know what he's talking about, and his OBSERVATORY and COMPREHENSIVE SKILLS are for SHIT - sorry! I mean, he's pretty bad at recognizing what an onscreen prompt is, or following simple directions/context clues the game gives. This right here isn't even the best example of that, and the frustration he can put me through. >_
Man, you play some games and you’ll be like, “gee, glad I didn’t buy this when it came out.” Prototype by activision is a great example; that game had so much hype when it came out and it’s such a lame repetitive hack n slash, but bully has a wide variety of content
This game is sadly overlooked. Yeah it looks like GTA: highchool but it ends up being more than the sum of its parts. And the story is awesome.
ikr I hate how ignorant people are about certain video games. People saying Bully is "like GTA but in a school," Red Dead Redemption is "like GTA but in the wild west," L.A. Noire is "like GTA but in the 1940s," Banjo-Kazooie and Conker's Bad Fur Day are in the same league as Ratchet and Clank, Pyschonauts, and Jak and Dexter and definitely not in the same league as Mario, Kirby, and Donkey Kong even though the people who made them are the same people who made the DKC games. I hate how ignorant people are and are only aware of the "iconic" games like Mario, Zelda, Sonic, Halo, Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duy, etc.

You guys should really start reading the onscreen prompts; you sometimes seem oblivious to what's actually happening when the explanation is staring you right in the face. It just makes you come across as inexperienced video game players, which of course you aren't. For example, it would prevent questions like "Why are they after me?" when the word 'truancy' is flashing in your HUD...
But sometimes it's hard to concentrate on playing a game while commentating; I mean, some people might be able to multi-task like that, but I sometimes can't focus. Like, for example: I've mastered all of the Souls games and when my friends come over and was playing Demon Souls, I had so much trouble playing while having a conversation.

After using it to push the football coach down a hill while he's in a porta-potty, late in the game, you could keep the mower afterwards for some fun. Not as awesome as the go-kart, but still just as hilarious to use.

It was painful to watch this one because of stuff like that all through it. I understand going into a game blind, but when the game is telling you what's going on...
For gamers their level of obliviousness is astounding. I often want to just appear in the shot, say nothing, walk over to the screen and point, and then walk out.
James & Mike are surprisingly oblivious to things on the screen right in front of them in several of these videos.
I don't think that is anywhere near the case lol.
If you get the chance to, play this game. It's definitely worth a full run. I personally love it.

Keep playing the game, it expands quite a bit as you progress and you unlock cool abilities and stuff. You get a skateboard which is awesome to rock around on. Also it's seasonal and the setting changes to suit the different seasons. Eventually you get to leave the school grounds and go to the town and then the game really opens up. Please do some let's plays for this one Mike.
The fall/Halloween setting was my absolute favorite, made me wish I lived in a town like that
I would honestly say that this game is in my absolute Top 5, it's so much fun! Especially when you're able to go into the town, and it opens up more and more. Despite the aged graphical engine, it's just amazing. I love all the classes, the main story, the side missions, all the things to collect and clothes to purchase, everything that you can see and discover. Oh, and the music is just so cool and amazing! 10+ years and I still love to play this!
Yeah no one comments on the music in Bully it really is charming and one of the games greatest strengths and 30 min is not enough to make an evaluation of the game. I would be really happy if Rockstar announced a sequel!!

The funny thing is the bully is one of the most neutral groups in this game. They kind of don't like nerds, but after jimmy makes it clear they are rather peacefull.
And the funny part is, they are the most loyal group. You know whenn anything goes to shit you can count on good old russel. When anybody hates you, the bullies are allright with you... Kind of strange.

If you want to check out another older, underrated Rockstar game, I'd highly recommend The Warriors. Best beat 'em up since Double Dragon.

Later in game skateboard, bike opens up along with city, amusement park and a lot of new stuff!! I can recommend this to anyone even in 2017! It holds up good.
I actually prefer Bully over the old GTA games.
It's got a smaller but more detailed map which kinda plays like a collectathon, you get more attached to the characters, the story is really entertaining throughout, the soundtrack is really good and just the overall style and design feels much more timeless.
Once you get to the Christmas part of the game, that's when it just clicks.

This game is fantastic, it only gets better the more you play as you unlock everything.
This was really hard to watch. You guys should try watching out for the on-screen prompts and maybe paying more attention to what you're supposed to be doing.

Most people judge this game very unfairly, saying that is just a violent game where you beat up kids and bully them. This game is actually pretty deep in its story and the main purpose it to stop bullying. Clearly the people that criticized this game didn't understand the smallest bit of the story.
GSV we need more of this actually, kids today are so pampered they can't take any criticism or failure that's why they fucking snap. all their lives they get lied to about how perfect and special they are, then when they figure out the truth they can't handle it.

This game gets really in depth at points. It can almost be called an RPG of some sorts. Playing through I really felt like a kid in some bad ass high school and acted mostly as I would have if it were me. Lack of cut-scene dialogue is only thing keeping it from crossing into the RPG world

I've 100%ed this game many times over the years. Your let's play video was golden. I laughed hard constantly in this video especially when Mike says "This kid is you James and this is for all of the times that you had me in a rabbit suit." I'm guessing this game takes place in 1988. I like the school part because it's fun mini games.

My absolute favorite game of all time. Thinking back on the memories I made with this game, it seems as if I actually lived once in bullworth. Got 100% completion in around 14 hours on one save file!

You guys should play at least it goes to Halloween, the school gets decorations and special missions and costumes too! Later on, the game lets you go to the city, you can get a bike, a skate and so all sorts of things! This is a great game!
You guys might not know this but eventually you can leave the school and go to town. Which opens up new missions and now you have to avoid the police. You can also ride bikes. There's also a carnival with rides and games. This would have benefited from a part 2.

I enjoyed this game from start to finish. It expanded the GTA formula like no other game (on pc), it was genuinely funny and it was obvious that a lot of effort went into it. I hope there will be a sequel one day. Oh yes, and the music was awesome.
Besides GTA: San Andreas, this is one of the games that Rockstar made that has the most character to it. I also think that the combat mechanics in Bully are more refined than any GTA title to date, especially when you complete all of the old bum's training missions.

Canadian Retro yeah it updated the graphics and performance a little bit. It also added new missions. But you can't really go wrong wherever you play this game.
That game is Fucking awesome James keep playing I promise you won't be disappointed!
I loved this game and it had a lot of great humor. I wish Rockstar would either do a sequel to this game or a remaster or remake of it.
I feel ancient watching James play this , I really wanna see him play the warriors
