Who gives a crap about hard plastics. The hard plastic in my '06 Ford ranger is easier to clean then the rubbery plastic in my wife's crosstrek. As long as the design is good and the cabin is comfortable this shouldn't even be an issue. I don't mind the hard plastics so much, just wish the interior wasn't so monochrome black, some more light blue accents in the interior and softer materials in common touch points would be perfect.
Justin Burnside I hear that. You’re right, it’s just if other companies can provide the full package at a similar price, comparison is what separate them.

Great thorough review. I’ve seen a lot because I’m interested in the car, and yours was by far the best. The car has everything I’d want in a nice hot hatch. I wish the interior was better in regards to material quality but it’s not bad overall.
Thanks for showing us the torque steer. I guess other car reviewers are too busy trying to get press cars to comment on the one thing that affects a lot of fwd cars. 😓
It's there but it's not very noticeable when you are actually driving the car. Take your hand off the wheel in just about any car and the thing is going to pull depending on how well the suspension geometry is. This isn't near as bad as a Mazda Speed 3.
I think maybe the cold weather has a lot to do with it. The other reviews I’ve seen were in warmer weather and were on fresh tires, and not having those issues. Also the press car tires probably have been ripped on before it got to you. Not a fanboy defender of this car because I hate the interior but that might explain it.
Several top reviewers have addressed the torque steer, Hyundai purposely left some torque steer in the car to make it more engaging... aka have personality.
Hyundai deserves (and has received) universal praise for designing a near track-ready hot hatch. If that's a customer's primary priority, it's hard to beat at the price. But I am skeptical that the $30K MSRP will be the real world price from many Hyundai dealers where a second sticker "market adjustment" is likely to increase the price significantly . (If it's even obtainable for a year or so.) On the other hand for those whose miles are 99.9% on pavement other than a race track the Veloster N involves a number of sacrifices. The interior is cheap, at best. The ride will make your kidneys feel like you're sitting on a buckboard. The visibility is better than a Camaro but that's a very low bar. Yes, the third door makes the backseat somewhat more accessible than a Mustang but not by much. And the hatchback design adds versatility but it trails competitors like the GTI. Again, kudos to Hyundai for making a street legal track tool at an affordable price. But the vast majority of those who purchase the Veloster N will be buying it for its image alone; the features that make it truly unique will go unexplored.
Bierman was right when he said that this car was engineered to be fun. That much is no doubt But the GTI, despite it being a better package for the daily commute still lacks that raw emotion which the N carries. There's nothing like that exhaust which rivals cars from the likes of Jaguar or Mercedes. It's kinda like if Hyundai made a 90's Japanese sports car and sold it today. The interior is okay, the touch points are good but the plastics are all hard. The ride sure is firm, but nothing like an RS and is fairly manageable on the day to day. Sure you might need to take a break after a 3 hour drive, but it's not as bad as you make it out to be. And the back row is serviceable, especially for the size of the car. It's quirky, it works, and it's fun, but by no means with the amount of refinement found in a Golf.

thinking of getting one these and i have seen you on tiktok and i just noticed you're in fort worth. probably not the case anymore. good review cant wait to test drive this!
Loved this video! One thing, I believe they left some torque steer in on purpose to make it more unpredictable/engaging. Also, I recommend getting one of those clip on mics for the driving parts, road noise gets in the way quite a bit. Other than that, this was great! Keep at it man.
During some interviews, they explained that they left some torque steer so you can still have some steering feel. When they reduced torque steer (probably from giving the power steering pump more power), they lost steering feel so they tried to balance it out. It'd be like my previous Civic Si with the 2.4 motor that's just a torquey motor in the low RPMs. Power steering pump was overpowering everything so much that I couldn't feel the road or feel what the front tires were doing but hey, no torque steer. The steering was quite a difference when I went from the Civic Si to my current Veloster N.
I'm a pretty big VW / Honda / Mazda fan and not gonna lie...this looks pretty dang impressive. The Honda Type-R has it beat on performance but I think the Veloster N looks WAY better (I"m not in high school any more...the Hyundai styling is more tasteful). The GTI has a nicer interior, but for the full package, tough to beat this. I saw the Asian Petrol preview next year's car with the 8 speed DCT auto and i'm guessing it's going to sell well. Think I might have to look for a used one in powder blue in a few years... would be a hoot to drive on weekends.. great vid
They are closing the type R plant in the UK so who knows if it will survive or fall like the Focus RS.The high mark up from dealers is making people look elsewhere.

Since you've driven both the Veloster N and the Veloster Turbo, how would you compare the two in terms of performance? Is the Veloster N worth the money compared to the Veloster Turbo (R-Spec) or is the difference not that huge?
Several questions... Anyone... please help me with answers... Thank you ! Can you buy and put a space saver spare tire in the trunk area? Is this car as fun to drive as a Type R? (Nothing to do with speed Just the feeling) Is this car comfortable enough to take on a 300 mile plus vacation trip? Would you consider this car to be a more reliable car than the VW GTI or a BMW 230i in manual only? Has anyone checked the real world mpg when not driving like a hooligan? What color does anyone think looks best on this car?
Great review man it was like if I see any of us doing a review something like that hahahahahahahahaha showed the car in diferents angles !! That I. Like a lot 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Good and thorough review! Thanks for having the 🏈 🏀 to bring up the elephant in the room. I’m so annoyed when reviewers don’t address torque steer and especially wheel hop. This is especially frustrating when the vehicle is a performance or “sporty” variant. Yes a lot of those vehicles are fun to drive but they’ll always be frustrating, unsteady and in some cases dangerous when you go to launch the vehicle, quickly enter an on-ramp or when you need to get away from someone In a hurry. I know people, because so many drivers are unskilled and don’t take driving as seriously as they should are afraid of RWD vehicles so manufacturers aren’t making them like they used to. I think they’re still dynamically safer and more predictable than FWD vehicles. I’d like to see manufacturers make more AWD variants of their vehicles. To me the sacrifice in mpg and the few extra pounds are worth the boost in stability and confidence. Keep up the good work!
I currently drive a base 2017 Mustang GT (with leather). I am seriously considering a trade for the performance blue veloster N. I’m really only considering in fun factors. I’m just worried about switching from 400+ hp rwd to 275 hp fwd, and I love the V8. My consideration is just regarding trying something new, and spirited driving that doesn’t break the law lol. Every time i get a chance to seriously push the mustang, I’m reminded why i chose it, but I feel like the veloster can be just as fun. Thoughts anyone?
I've owned a preformance blue N for about a month now and the fun factor is high! Takes corners like a beast but it's Obviously not faster then a 5.0 mustang. But it does 0-60 in 5.2 sec and the quarter mile in 13.9 which is the same time as an evo X which has awd. But that'll very on the driver really. I honestly love the N, the car just wants to go and you can't get enough of those pops and bangs from the exhaust 👌
DistinguishedTV yeah I’ve gotten over pure speed/numbers since i daily my car more than i track/race it, and it’s all about the driving experience for me. I bet the veloster is just as fun. I think i decided to keep the mustang for now, but since I’m moving up north, if i have to find a new daily, I’m gonna snatch a PB Veloster N
On a mustang dyno people saw 235whp and 259wtq. MK7 GTI on the Dynojet was seeing 230-239wtq and 260-270wtq... VW loves to sandbag theie numbers which i appreciate. GTI is the thicc chick though the N is the fit chick.
Maybe American models don't get heated seat or steering wheel but according to Hyundai Canada's page, it comes as standard so that's really weird to see.
I'm glad they got rid of the split rear window where the back part of the roof was glass. That's a lot of hard plastic and blank buttons, though. Keeps the price down I guess.
I can see the BMW cues with the long, horizontal climate control layout. The rest of the cheap plastic kind of annoys me. I’m still of the personal belief that $30K is a lot of money and should bring with it a little better refinement. Otherwise, it’s a really neat car. The performance package is an absolute must for me, and I would demand a test drive before I buy it. All the RUclips videos in the world won’t tell me how it really feels.
Not sure if you mentioned it, but did the test vehicle have the performance pack? If not, that could explain the torque steer. The base model N doesn't have a front diff.

Best review by far💯
It's a good review my friend. Constructive crit: 30 minutes is too long. Condense and you'll make more happy viewers, likes, etc.
Wow, this guy has certainly taken a 180 from making 30 minute, long form car reviews to 30 second tic toc clips
Hyundai has improved so much! 😍 and my family has a Genesis G80
Now if they would make a new Genesis coupe with the twin turbo V6 in it that would be nice.
This video really makes me appreciate my Veloster! Thanks! :)
Albert Bierman said they intentionally left torque steer in so you have good feedback through the wheel
(Nothing to do with speed Just the feeling)
Is this car comfortable enough to take on a 300 mile plus vacation trip?
Would you consider this car to be a more reliable car than the VW GTI or a BMW 230i in manual only?
Has anyone checked the real world mpg when not driving like a hooligan?
What color does anyone think looks best on this car?
Great review man it was like if I see any of us doing a review something like that hahahahahahahahaha showed the car in diferents angles !! That I. Like a lot 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Keep up with the reviews! I'm not sure how you only have 27k subs
Please review the 2021 Hyundai Veloster N
"Having just gotten out a $200k car I can honestly say there's no reason for this $30k car to ride this stiff" Lol. JK, love your reviews man.
In Korea, the Veloster One Make Race will begin!
2.37 for 93 man I’m crying I miss those days
About the excessive torque steer, could it be that your test car is out of alignment? Because it could make a noticeable difference in FWD car.
Very good detailed video, much appreciated!
Another awesome review
One things that's real nice is that I haven't seen any mark up on these at any dealership I visited when I was looking for my elantra sport
Great video man!
Such a handsome fella 💪🏼. The car is not bad either 👍🏻
Nice review it sounds awesome looks awesome and I heard it drives awesome by almost everyone who reviews it.
Would you rather own and daily drive this car? Or a VW GTI or a Civic SI?
And what color would you choose to own?
Civic Si for sure. You get heated seats, LSD, a better interior and great fuel economy. Oh yeah, it's a Honda.
Nice review and you seem like a nice person too. I will be a regular viewer, keep up the good work!
I'm getting a car soon and I wanted a quick review on this car. Thank you!
in the next few years those interiors. Will be upgraded in high quality materials because i believe this car performance will be popular demand
If a civic and an RS had a baby...
"There's no reason for this to ride this firm"
*laughs in static*
I'm glad they got rid of the split rear window where the back part of the roof was glass. That's a lot of hard plastic and blank buttons, though. Keeps the price down I guess.
Nice!
Love this car and the seatbelts. I prefer this car to the i30 N
Actually 2021 Veloster N Dual wet clutch DCT 8 speed with Performance pack standard. So you can have auto with DCT soon.
I like this video. would you say the 2020 is better ? or what's the difference?
Not sure if you mentioned it, but did the test vehicle have the performance pack? If not, that could explain the torque steer. The base model N doesn't have a front diff.
Wish it had lower driving lights and 2 doors in the back.Bummer no spare tire.
The taillights are wicked. Does this Manual not have the N Grin Shift?
