    This has been the best video by far!!! I don't have the Juki TL 2010Q but I have the Elmita EF1. I have all of the feet that you demonstrated with in the video. I'm not new to sewing but I am new to semi-industrial machines. This will be very helpful going forward as there are several similarities between the two machines! Thanks a million! Subbed!

    I have a similar Brother machine, a little bit less fancy though. It's sew through everything like butter, even real leather. Only one thing I missed about having a domestic machine is buttonhole. I made a chanel style jacket, very thick with trims and decorations, and tried using my mom's computerized machine to do buttonholes. I ended up using snap button instead . That expensive "high-end".....top of the line...etc.... fancy machine refused to even move!! It's "gentle" like a baby, all it does is whining.

    Hi! I just received my Juki TL-2010Q I mainly bought this machine to be able to handle hemming jeans. My main issue with hemming jeans is getting over the two "bumps" where the pant legs are sewn together and rolled up for the hem. I've tried the bulky seam jumper which does a decent job but I was hoping for the machine to be able to handle it without one. I have been contemplating between the Juki TL-2010Q recently purchased and the Juki DDL-8700 which I believe is more industrial. Would you happen to know if the DDL-8700 can accomplish this? Do you know how these two machines compare overall? I appreciate any help you can provide and thank you for all of your videos!

      Hi Sylvia, I do professional alterations for a living and even using an heavy duty industrial machine, you may have to be careful going over the bump especially with really think denim flat fell seams. I have sewn jean hems with the Tl-2010q without an issue. You will just need to handwheel carefully over the seams. Please have a look at my video I made a few years ago comparing industrial machine with domestic sewing jean hems. ruclips.net/video/2T6bsn9r9xE/видео.html

      Have you seen the utube videos about the easy way to hem jeans? Turn pants inside out. Then you fold the pant leg up to the length you want it . Make a nice fold on the inside, put pins in, sew a tuck around the leg right above the original hem. Look for a video about it, I probably can't explain it well enough.

      @grandmajane2593 yes it is called the original hem or Euro hem. I’ve been doing for many years but have my own method to measure and neatly finish for clients

    So you are sewing all those layers with just one type of needle?! 😮😮 I am a beginner at sewing and I have a singer machine, it's just I found out that the needle set that comes with my machine is not appropriate for the heavy type fabric like jeans or wool and the light weight fabric like viscose and crepe so it is frustrating since I can't practise on these type of fabric since I need to buy other types of needles

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes I didn’t change needle in this video but you should have correct needles for different fabrics. For sewing heavier fabrics, the needle needs to be stronger and the eye bigger for thicker threads. Google all the different types of needles there are and its uses and print out a chart for reference.

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  5 месяцев назад +1

      This is the machine Echidna Sewing provided. I actually use many full size industrial machines. For others the decision may be a case of what they will be sewing and their budget.

      @@NotchesSewing I have watched a lot of their videos when I was debating which Juki model to get.

  • @donnanelson9181
    @donnanelson9181 Месяц назад

    I have watched so many Juki demo videos and none of them tell you that the leg attachment doesn’t actually work. It sits so far to the left that you cannot sit in front of the needle and use the leg bar, yet Juki advertises it as this wonderful feature. The only thing I can figure is that bc this machine is Japanese made, and Japanese women are tiny so that maybe it works if you don’t weigh over maybe 70 pounds. Very disappointing.

    • @NotchesSewing
      @NotchesSewing  Месяц назад

      The knee lift definitely works. When sitting with the needle centred right in front of me, the knee lift is just on the side of my right leg and I am far from tiny. If it were too far over to the right, you wouldn’t be able to hit it with your leg without being in an awkward position.

      @@NotchesSewing I would love to see a video of how you do this. I’ve tried everything and can’t come close to using it, which really disappoints me since it allows you to raise the presser foot hands free, which was a selling point for me when I bought my machine. I contacted Juki and all they could tell me was that I might be inserting the leg bar incorrectly, but there’s only one way it goes in, as far as I know. If you could demonstrate this in a video I would be very grateful. I’d love to be able to use it.
