    Turbocharged inline diesels are the best engines ever made. They last forevery and make all the power you want. But nothing sounds like a gas v8

  • @BleachCuresBlindness
    @BleachCuresBlindness 7 месяцев назад +125

    The fuel consumption difference is a neat little factor at play here, that V8 just about redlining up the hill with the diesel just chugging along. For this type of track I’d go with the diesel, for top end performance and sand & gravel I’d pick the petty for fun points 😂

    Diesels can just use their torque whilst petrol needs to use momentum to do the same job. But if the track is very bumpy like here and difficult to manoeuvre in, then momentum will be halted so diesel is better.

      A decent horsepower petrol will still have good torque & will crawl a hill as good as a diesel. I have a Patrol 6cyl TDI Ute & a Lexus 4.7 V8 petrol wagon & much prefer the petrol for overall performance. The diesel actually uses about the same amount of fuel as the petrol, if not more. Personal choice I guess. 👍🏼😊

    • @magnipettersson4432

      @@kenworth159it doesnt. The whole fkn point with diesels is to create more torque at lower RPM’s
      Thats like saying a petrol and diesel engine Will use the same amount of fuel over a Long distance. Just isnt true. Lower Rpm means less fuel being ignited.
      I have literally driven both a diesel and a petrol version of the same excact car and the difference is immense.
      You need a lot more horsepower and therefore more fuel in a petrol car. Like the fiestas I tried myself were of the same HP output and yet one had way more torque than the other without more horsepowers

      @izzy031096 Месяц назад +3

      @@magnipettersson4432There are a lot of other factors at play in your hypothetical situation. Car weight, tyre size/type, gearing etc.

      @kenworth159 Месяц назад +2

      @@magnipettersson4432 I literally have both the vehicles mentioned sitting in my backyard. I drive them both on random trips & I can tell you they both use around the same amount of fuel on the highway. Offroad the diesel will use less for sure as it will work at lower revs where the petrol V8 will be at higher revs to maintain torque. You said it yourself, diesels have more torque at lower revs. I’m not disagreeing with you, I’m just saying that petrols have decent torque as well. My diesel has been tuned on the dyno & runs at peak performance so the fuel consumption is the best it will get.

      @kenworth159 feel like this guy made the comment without even watching the video, you can see the petrol rolls in slowly then just takes off up the hill, being able to use its rpm while the diesel has to carry a ton of speed in and is bucking around the so called low end torque is a fallacy it's not useful unless towing on blacktop or in full traction low speed situations, full traction low speed happens close to never when off-road

    For comparison sake, petrol/gasoline will make more horsepower on average but!
    A diesel hence thanks to its design will make more torque and when it comes to anything physical as in offroading, hauling, or towing? You need torque not power. Power is good but if you can't pull with it you'll spin your wheels out and that's it. You need that force to pull/push in the end plus fuel economy, diesels are way more fuel efficient
