Depends. The minimum for team games, you need to be able check in on Discord to communicate with your teammates once or twice a day for a few minutes to coordinate tactics. To help others and be more involved, you can give more time

Meanwhile there's other good videos for Imperius on RUclips. I'll give you the very basics. Imperius villages don't have empty tiles, keep that in mind when exploring the map. All squares must contain some type of resource. Usually the turn 0 opening works, picking the 2 fruit and workshop. Form there you can create 3 warriors and explore or 2 warriors and a rider.
They have good resources,lots of forests, and archery is a nice tech (with defence bonus for your other units too)... They aren't a top tier tribe you can upgrade capital turn 0, but they're still a great tribe and lots of fun.
