Daikon radish grows like a weed in my garden cause I sow their seeds everywhere and allow it to self seed. This way I don't need to buy the expensive seeds to do my microgreens in the winter. I also use the draining water to water my plants if it is in the summer. No waste.
Excellent instruction and very clear. I've just harvested my radish sprouts and they taste so nice and peppery. I tried sprouting chick peas twice, but each time they went bad and smelled horrid. I realise l should have used sprouting chick peas. Thankyou
WE SHOULD ALWAYS USE FILTERED WATER….BECAUSE OF THE CHEMICALS & CHLORINE… I ALSO RINSE ANY DUST ON MY SPROUTS AND PLACE FRESH WATER IN THE JAR “”BEFORE”” I SOAK THEM THE FIRST NIGHT….I LIVE IN LOUISIANA WHERE ITS HUMID, SO I OFTEN NEED TO RINSE MY SPROUTS A 3RD TIME, PLUS PLACE AN OSCULATING FAN TO CIRCULATE THE AIR ON MY SPROUTS, ALSO I PLACE THE JARS IN A LONG BLACK TRAY WITH LOW SIDES, WHICH HELPS THE AIR TO CIRCULATE IN AND AROUND THE SPROUTS, WHICH PREVENTS MOLD… USING AN OXO SALAD SPINNER DOES HELP GET RID OF MORE OF THE SKINS IS BEST, IT HELPS PREVENT MOLD…I LAY SPROUTS ON PAPER-TOWEL THEN I PLACE SPROUTS IN A CLEAN DRY JAR AND VACCUM-SEAL IT AND EAT THEM FAST OR RINSE AND PAT DRY AGAIN AND MAKE CERTAIN TO EAT THEM BY 5-7th DAY, SPROUTS CONTINUE TO GROW IN THE REFRIGERATOR… TIPS I LEARNED THROUGH MY 27 YEARS OF GROWING SPROUTS AND WHEATGRASS… HOPE I DID NOT OFFEND ANYONE, AND THIS INFO HELPS @ LEAST ONE PERSON… GOD BLESS EACH OF US ON OUR JOURNEY TO EAT HEALTHY…
Great instructions ty! I tried broccoli sprouts twice and threw them away when I saw the white fuzzy ends thinking it was mold. Next time I’ll know it isn’t. 😂. Ty
If you're at all concerned about conserving water, don't try growing your own sprouts. Or just don't rinse them as much because it works just fine doing it half as often.
Hi! 😀It is for alfalfa, broccoli, and clover. For sunflower, I grow them like microgreens: soak seeds by completely submerging them in water for 8 to 24 hours (you'll see little green tails coming out of the shells). Then, plant seeds (tail side down) in small trays of coconut coir. There's a link "Can You Grow Microgreens Without Soil?" in the description that covers this process. Hope this helps, and thanks for the comment!
I love these and they are very strong. The first time I grew them in a True Leaf stacking sprouter and they came out wonderful but the second time around they were smaller and had a stronger smell that concerned me but they tasted fine. I'm going to now try with a jar and see what happens. If anyone has had this issue please advise. Thanks
Heat can definitely make radish sprouts smell more intense. I grow year-round and always notice this in the summer. And, jars work great for radish sprouts as well!
Time out - other video's suggested radish sprouts you buy may have bad stuff in the bag. Therefore, one must cleanse the bad stuff by using a drop of dawn and 2 teaspoons of white vinegar and water. Then stir and rid of this solution at least 3 times, and then when you soak the seeds use filtered water for the over night soak. Correct?
Hi there, no I don't allow moisture in my seeds. I usually oil my wooden spoons to keep them in good condition and that was probably causing the stick.
Yes, sprouting kits often come with multiple lids that have different sized holes on the top. When sprouts are still seeds, use the lid with the smaller holes so that the seeds don't slip out during the drain process. As the sprouts grow, switch to a lid with larger holes so that the water drains faster.
Hi, good question. I always use “sprouting seeds” for sprouts, but I believe you can try regular seeds. Just make sure those seeds aren’t treated with chemicals like pesticides or fungicides. Hope this helps!
@@growhotpeppers Thanks. I found it very hard to sprout coriander. As a matter of fact, nothing happened at all even after 2 weeks. So, all I canderive from my experiments is that coriander and peppercorn seeds cannot sprout. Cheers
Sorry to hear about that! Oftentimes, it's the seed... try a different seed source to see if that helps. Make sure to rinse and drain at least twice a day, and leave your jar at an angle so that your seeds aren't sitting in water. Hope this helps.
@@Jhennieten You can mix these sprouts into foods that have some fat, salt, or spiciness to them. It helps cut down the bitter. For example, soups, sandwiches, smoothies, stir fry, in rice, etc.. Ultimately, I just kept eating bitter foods until they no longer bothered me, which surprisingly, didn't take long. Hope this helps!

Thanks , I have my first batch of radish sprouts on the go now, 3 days in. I like the drying information you shared.
I used to go to pains using only filtered water for my sprouts. Good to know one doesn't have to!

Thank you so much for your comment! Yep, I did the same when I tried growing sprouts until I found out otherwise. LOL 😊
Thanks for the tips
Very helpful. Thanks
Thank you for this!!!
If the seeds float, why not fill the bowl to overflowing and let them just run off into the sink?

Is this the same basic concept for sunflower sprouts alfalfa sprouts and broccoli and clover sprouts as well? ☺️💛🌱🌱🌻🥦🌾☘️🍀

Could you use something like a nut milk bag in the salad spinner to dry?
I imagine you could, but I haven’t done this myself. I’d love to know what you think if you do try this!
thank you

Can I grow radish sprouts and broccoli sprouts in the same jar, together?

Do u need a warm room or in summer
No, you don't need wait for summer. Generally, 80°F or cooler works well.
Why are the seeds sticking to that spoon? Do you allow moisture into your seed reserve?
Hi there, no I don't allow moisture in my seeds. I usually oil my wooden spoons to keep them in good condition and that was probably causing the stick.
I noticed you changed the lid

no mention of radish sprouts health benefits.
Does it have to be "sprouting seeds", or can any seed be sprouted ?????

It tastes so bad
Radish are definitely bitter with a strong taste. It took me awhile to get used to the flavor, but I pushed through because of the health benefits. 😀
@@growhotpeppers how do you make it taste a little better?

@@growhotpeppers thanks! I still have some in my fridge. I’m trying them again.
