Christmas cactus can get a couple of hundred years old and can therefore be passed down the family line. And amaryllis if potted are also not dead after they bloomed once, just cut of the flower stem once the flowers has wilted. Put outside and water regularly once the temperatures are higher and then stop watering completely at the end auf August and start again with watering 6-8 weeks before you want the bulb to flower again. Love that your Christmas decor is still up I think we all hurry the seasons too much.
Thank you so much for this helpful information! I love the idea that a Christmas cactus can be passed down for generations. I would love to keep the amaryllis going and am going to heed your suggestion. I could not agree more that we rush the season...I like to take the time afterward to enjoy the decorations after the company and hustle and bustle dies down. XO
As always, a lovely, varied video, thank you. As for your cactus, they like to be pot bound. Let it be for a good, long while---'til it tightly fits the pot.
We just took down the outside lights.. .in Illinois it has been COLD for at least a week. But, we are OK with that...and so we're the neighbors!!!!! Thanks for your tour of the hotel....hope you all enjoyed your time together ❤️!!!❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
The cold weather definitely contributes to my lack of interest in removing decorations. We loved our time at the Langham and thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. XO
Mid January, our Christmas is still up and I am still plugging in the outdoor lights. If my husband had his way, the tree would stay up all yr long! ( which I did do several yrs ago). As long as it's cold outside, we enjoy our Christmas decorations and the cozy vibe they still give us)
I love that you keep your Christmas decorations up as long as you like! I completely agree that when it's cold and dark, it is so. nice to have those warm lights. Keep it up.
@@relativelyrefined Honestly, I always want to laugh. I tell myself, is the Design Police going to come knocking on my door, OR the Fashion Police, for that matter? I highly doubt it! Nobody cares.
What a fun video! Loved the tour of the Langham. I lived in Boston for a number of years and now am a frequent visitor living on the Southcoast of MA. I’ll have to make a stop next time I’m in town. Happy New Year! Great finds for the Christmas season. I look forward to traveling along on your journey for 2025!
My Christmas is up still too. I haven't had the energy and I love it so much! In very ancient times January was for rest and new year didn't start til spring because winter is still happening.my body feels that need to slow but live seems busier then ever.
This particular video hit home for me as I was feeling very guilty for not getting out my many decorations this year. You made me feel so much better to think I might not have been the only person to do that. All our sons and their families live in different states throughout the country and were here for thanksgiving. It was such a blessings to have them come for the long weekend but I was too exhausted to decorate after they left. Thanks for making me realize that there is always next year. Happy 2025 to you.
Your words mean so much. I mean it honest and truly...there is way too much pressure and it's not necessary. Some years I go all out, some I don't, but I try to show grace to myself and do what I can without guilt. I am so glad you were able to spend time with your sons and their families. That's what matters most. Sending much love. XO
There’s a gentleman in Newburyport that restores high quality chairs like that - think they are fairly expensive. Have been looking to go there and check them out! It’s called Kantiques I believe.
My sweet Momma just passed away on New Year's Eve. Time (for me and my sisters) has seemed to stop and I can hardly grasp the fact that we are this far into the new year. So needless to say, my Christmas decorations are still up. Hopefully this weekend I will have the energy to pack things away. Thank you for the wonderful video, I enjoyed every minute of it. A nice distraction from what is going on in my world right now.
Sending sympathy. Losing our Mum's never leaves us. But you will hear her voice often from now on. And you will smile. " A daughter is a daughter all of her life". ❤
Oh my sweet friend, I am so sorry to learn of the passing of your mom. It is completely understandable why you would not be taking down your Christmas decorations. Take the time you need...take care of yourself and keep those precious memories. Sending love and hugs. Xo
Hi Happy new year to you and yourfamily . What a beautiful hotel, it is very high class looking. Some lovely thrift finds and I love the trinket bos and I sure your daughter will love it. Tha ks for sharing xxxxxxx
Hi Patty so nice to "see" you in the new year. I loved seeing the Langham. You inspired me to plan a mid winter getaway with my family. Just have to say that your kids are so cute!!!! What a beautiful family. Good luck with your thrift wish list and hope you are enjoying your stay with your mom.
The history of the two Langham hotels is fascinating and they are in two of my favorite cities. Thank you for sharing insight into both hotels. If walls could talk, right?
I have all my mother’s costume jewelry and I would love to try making a tree like that. When you get all you need to create it, will you do a tutorial?! Please
Loved the visit to The Langham. Stayed there several years ago and smiled when you mentioned the Scent of the Langham.I purchased enough to last a year!! By the way the fragrance can be purchased on line! At least the last time I looked! Thank you so much for the post Christmas gift of THE Langham!
I am so glad you got to enjoy the Langham and that scent! It is, in fact, sold online which is great to know so I can replenish my supply. Thank you so much!!
Happy New Year, Patty 🎇The Langham Hotel looks like a lovely and special place to stay with all its Christmas decor, the gilded trims and those beautiful art pieces. Your wish list looks promising - if I remember correctly, I think Kathleen has success with the Marketplace. Oh, that game table is gorgeous, the blue wool rug - beautiful. Looking forward to following your progress with your jewelry/brooch Christmas tree art. The process and the end result will be stunning. Sending love for the New Year.♥

Thank you for saying that. XO
Oh my goodness, the hotel visit is wonderful. Wow! Love it!
It's so lovely!
I took down our Christmas tree and decorations last weekend. We all liked the cheerful atmosphere it brings. Thank you for saying this!
It is always a little sad to take down the Christmas decorations, but I agree it is fun to keep the cozy vibe going!
