Elsie (Pat Phoenix) wakes Dennis (Philip Lowrie) who was delayed by the Rovers' break-in investigation. Jack (Arthur Leslie) learns that cigarettes, whisky, and glasses were stolen. Concepta (Doreen Keogh) buys a dress for the picnic while Lucille (Jennifer Moss) is excited about her first Blackpool trip. Ena (Violet Carson) criticises Lucille but appreciates her service. Ivan (Ernst Walder) offers to help Annie (Doris Speed) after the picnic. Ida (Noel Dyson) apologises to Ken (Bill Roache) about Marian (Patricia Heneghan) and nervously hosts her for supper. She’s relieved when Marian says she doesn't want to marry. Arthur (Robin Wentworth) has clues about the burglar and asks to speak privately with Ivan sparking gossip.
