i am impressed with the development of the american performanc ecars over the last 15 years. was about time to get on par with the european competition. greetings from germany
you are really stupid the veyron doesn't barely beat it it humilates it. And it not just speed its built quality and engineering know how. Look at the mustang still has a live real axle, the last time that was on a car in europe was 35 + years ago
you guys realy comparing a handfull build showcase cars with a mass produced serial performance car?? this discussion is pointless especialy when it comes to pricetag. ofc the tires and weels of a 400km/h + fast car are VERRY expensive, especialy after they are only produced in verry small numbers. and ofc they wont last long under the extreem conditions. the veyron is not the competition of a corvett. the veyron is not the competition of ANY car, its a tech demo of a company that sayd : look whats possible if you ignore cost. by the way, the veyron would lose a race on the nurburg ring vs the corvett or the porsche or ferari or even the nissan gtr. thats where the comprtition of the corvett is: massproduced sportscars like the porsche and ferari and the nissan and here you see that the corvett is in the same league and has a suprisingly low pricetag for its performance. thats the most markable thing, in history the us carcompanys refused to build performance cars beyond pure acceleration ability, they refused to considder the concept that underlies the european cars. the definition of what a sports car is and what he need to do where totaly different and therefor the produced cars where nowhere compareable. the 2latest corvetts ARE compareable, they are constructed folowing similar demands on ability and driving performance and they are doing great.
I personally like Porsche better than the corvette so I might be a little biased but not on purpose. This is actually really surprising the corvette won on track when you would assume the Porsche would win with it's nice handling while the Corvette lost with its incredible acceleration in the drag race. I guess now in 2016 its different than back in 2010. Wow. All in all 2 great cars 2 great company's.
I am the proud owner of a 2010 ZR1. One of the things, big things, all these challenges omit is reliability. I still have 6 months on my 3/36 warranty and 2.5 years on my 5/100,000 mile warranty. Why doesn't Porsche, Ferrari, others have a warranty? Reliability. I have a 638 hp motor that GM has guaranteed will last 100K miles.
The fact that the Corvette is always in these "battles" is the price. Signifigantly lower than the rest, but beating on the door. For that alone, gives the Corvette an economical advantage.
: D I'm certain they ran the car to 200, but the actual standing mile happened at 177. That's consistent with pretty much every test I've seen. Matt Farrah recently done it all day long at that speed. Consistent! Also, american reliability FTW. Porsches typically don't break, so kudos GM.
I'd argue that American car engineering is the best in the world. The problem with the american car companies was that for a while, the accountants had entirely too much say. It was bad business, not bad engineering. The fact of the matter is, GM, Ford and Chrysler are back on top. The 100k dollar zo6 equipped with the z07 package will out perform anything sub 1 mil while giving you the same carbon and leather encrusted interior, advanced creature comforts and even some that the others don't offer. The vette isn't the only American car that has rose to the top either. Just look at the recent cars the mighty Americans have released. GM, Ford and dodge now give us the most diversity along the product line while VW, BMW, Porsche and Audi all fade to the back of the pack offering much of the same. What would you rather have, a 65k dollar Audi with no more than 350hp or a 580hp Cadillac CTS-v? What if I told you that the Cadillac has to some degree a nicer interior, corners better, has better brakes, is more reliable and has a better warranty? Would anyone argue that the Cadillac was the better car that is also engineered to a higher standard? American engineers are the worlds best. Our free and prosperous market allows the country to operate at cheaper rates while not compromising anything in terms of R and D, performance, and reliability. Ask yourself what Chevrolet could build if they had the budget of a Mercedes or Porsche. Remember, the best German, Japanese and Scandinavian engineers come to America to put that knowledge to use. America will always be the engineering Mecca and the American Car companies have kept that tradition going once again. Like it or not, GM is leading the charge
Porsche turbos failed = EPIC FAIL. Four second drubbing on track = EPIC FAIL. Straight line test = duh, 4wd & 1/4 mile go hand in hand. I'll take the ZR1 and put $35k into tuning and this isn't even a discussion $ for $. ZR1 wins hands down.
The days of the powerful refined German sport cars are numbered. Even the reliability is also over. The world have changed. Unless you want to pay extra for more than already over priced. $$$$$ The game have changed. Charging more $ doesn't mean getting more. Lol
4 Wheel drive. The Porker can put all its power to all the wheels and with the acceleration weight transfer to an already heavy rear end, it has enormous grip - aided of course by electronics moving the torque between the front and rear wheels to stop wheel spin. The ZR1 has a shitload more of torque and horsepower but its only a rear drive car. If you noticed on the standing starts, the slip regulation for the rear tyres is stopping the full amount of power available going to the rear wheels. But once past the point where the torque cannot overcome tyre grip, then the ZR1 simply will say goodbye to the Porker.
These are not supercars. They're just really powerful sports cars. Also, you should have used a Turbo S with the carbon brakes instead of a regular turbo. That was somewat unfair choosing a top of the line limited production Corvette and going with a standard Turbo.
Oh how dare they take the $120,000 ZR1 (not a limited production Corvette - simply a trim level you can select) and pit it up against a $150,000 Porsche. You're right, they should have pitted it against a $160,000+ Porsche. Do you honestly think carbon brakes would have mattered (rhetorical questions, of course you do)? They let the cars cool down between runs. Brakes aren't the issue. Even with more power, the 911 Turbo S can't touch the ZR1. This is a poor track to do tests on. So many slow corners that favor AWD (yet the ZR1 was still faster by nearly 4 seconds). The fastest 911 they've ever tested around Laguna is 4+ seconds slower than the NON-STICKY TIRE ZR1. The sticky-tired ZR1 is 2 seconds faster than that. That's a 6 second gap. 911 Turbo S with carbon ceramics...still slower than Z06, let alone ZR1.
911TT...both turbos failed (lol)!?!? More likely the 911TT folks knew the ZR1 would destroy it in the standing mile. Vette ruled on the track too. New king of the hill!
The ZR1 would be faster in a straight line if it had all wheel drive but that's not american lol. Look at the trap speeds though thats what really shows it. The porsche is a full half of a second quicker to 60 in their test and runs a better quarter mile by .3 seconds but is faster on the trap speed. If the race was a full mile or even a half mile the porsche would have no chance. Plus the ZR1 is faster around the figure 8, has better lateral acceleration
The Z06 is a more fair race. The ZR1 is a competitor for the GT2 rs which has 600hp. They always do this though. It's usually a Carrera of some sort vs. much faster cars. Rarely is a turbo tested, and almost never is anything compared to a GT2 RS. Not saying the GT2 is better, just that they would be a closer match. Why not the fastest Vette vs the fastest 911?
As far as price comparison, this is as fair as the race can be. The Porsche is MUCH more expensive than the Vette and still lost in most categories. In fact, put slicks on the Vette and the Porsche would lose in every category.
John Jones Nothing wrong with either car but you are making an invalid point. Saying add this and that is pointless because if we add slicks to the Vette, we can add slicks to the GT2 RS and still beat the vette. Just like we could add this and that to this car and that to beat this car and that. Stock for stock, the GT2 RS is better in EVERY category EXCEPT gas mileage. I am not saying that the Vette is bad at all. In fact, I love the ZR-1 but my point is its performance rival would be the GT2 RS. In this video, the Vette is more dominate because of my first point. What if we compared the Turbo to the Z06? The ZO6 would lose in all categories. As for price, the Porsche 912 is literally about 350,000 cheaper than the McLaren P1. Their performance is in the same class and thats why they are rivals.
The new GT2 RS hasn't been released yet. Now you are comparing different gen cars Lol. When the new GT2 RS comes out then it vs the C7 will be relevant. By then, the ZR1 will be released and the two beasts can battle it out.
The corvette is for sure the faster car in all it have 138 HP more than Porsche 500 HP flat 6 and it beat it on track how impressive. In a standing mile zr1 for sure faster. So speed wise corvette faster just a tab slow getting to 100 kph ( 62 mph ) of 3.5 seconds to Porsche flat 3.0 seconds dead.
I assume, you weren't able to find a 997 GT2 RS for this test against the ZR1? I mean, best v. best. Not Best v. third/fourth most powerful/track based 911. It only seems fair. Then again, you probably didn't want to see the Vette lose.
+Curtis Heidel i think the comparison was based on price... Except the Porsche is $50,000 more expensive than the Corvette......... And looks better.............. And sounds better...........................
+B00steDevil So why would I pay 50k more fro just badge prices and extra commodities? Especially for the slower car.... sure the porsche might be nicer on the inside but no interior ever was worth 50k...
hemi600crate Oddly enough, there are people out there than can afford to like, drive, and own Porsches. This is a company that makes $1,000,000+ cars. Like I said earlier, they're testing the fastest GM Product against something the middle of Porsche's lineup. Everyone always wants to bring up the money factor. If they are such a great value, how many do you have?
this is a great vid..Not only was the driver surpised by how fast the zr1 is but also how well it handles the high speed corners.Plus the driver mentioned a couples times how well the zr1 handled the big bump compared to the 911.. Beating a 911 by almost 4 seconds is crazy, just shows how good the ZR1 is..well done chevy
+S Walters "unreliable junk" you are talking about american cars I guess :) take a sit in porsche and compare quality between usa and german cars. US cars is SHIT, but fast ;) fast shit ha ha ha
The point that's rubbed the wrong way is a declaration that there's no American sports car that can compete with European automobiles, and that's simply not the case as demonstrated here. Price can be debated over any aspect of any car but it all boils down to intrinsic value: what am I willing to pay to drive any car. National pride, especially these types of forums, run deep, and most side likewise. When they compete however, we all win. When statements turn ridiculous with statements that American can't build a sports car that can compete with their foreign counterparts, I take umbrage, it's simply not true. SSC made no bones about it as they put record breaking numbers with the production of the Ultimate Aero, followed up by the world class domination of the Tuatara. Not enough? Add the likes of Hennessy's viper, the ford GT, including the soon to be released 2016 GT from ford and arguments stating European dominance are just silly. Now, enter an American car, that's mass produced and has all the numbers and data backing it up favorably against European cars as well as real world head to head testing where a Corvette is taking down the elite European cars, and all of a sudden there's cries heard all across the Internet and sobs coming from Europe. The scales haven't tipped, they've been completely knocked down by American cars excelling in areas Europeans aren't used to, they feel threatened (with just cause) that the motoring world is now turned on its end and the cars at the top when the dust settles are American. Don't mourn your loss though, cheer for the competition between these car manufacturers, we all win.
Bighands: seriously? Ever hear of Hennessy? SSC Ultimate aero? SSC tuatara? Saleen? Shelby cobra? Panoz? Dodge Viper? Ford Mustang GT500? Ford GT? europe has some very nice cars, no argument there. Be as silly as you'd like, but you're cars have been judged and found lacking compared to cars I've listed. Climb in a hole, cover your ears, shut your mouth and open your eyes, the blur you see is the American cars dominating the best europe has to offer. You're dismissed, schools over.

I've always loved Corvettes and still do. that said, it's not a confidence-inspiring approach to say that "we're gonna charge you 6 figures, but you still have to think of our product like a bargain and be happy with the fact that for a few thousand bucks you can have the right seats and fit and finish in it and still be cheaper than the competition." in a 20-30K car that's an acceptable argument (better than the competition in numbers, but low in ergonomics), but not for a car that's 100K+

thats funny the porsche broke in the end......american junk huh ?? corvette is just bad ass
Altimgamr is a zr1 fan.. He comments on every single zr1 video
Lol I was his biggest enemy back then. He's a piece of RUclips car history. Biggest gtr and porsche fanboy

Have you ever heard the rumbling V8 engine sound of a Ford GT or ZR1?
:o i aint no altimgamr, i am the reverse ok, and the ford gt is shit, corvette is better
The Corvette is one amazing car, imagine pounding the 911 turbo around the track, better braking, etc etc for less $. Today with gen 3 magnetic ride control, improved handling dynamics, totally new chassis and are the Z06 absolutely destroys cars costing several multiples of its price, hats off to Chevrolet...exotics, the new bench mark is better in every way, wonder if any competitor can match the Vette. I absolutely love my 2015 Z51, it does everything you would expect perfectly and even returns great fuel mileage, GM, well done.
Damn straight it did. Chevy built the ZR1 w/o any Euro help, Chevy & Caddy pioneered MRC, which Ferrari bought the tech for, and the ZR1 completely laid down those impressive Ring numbers w/o the need for massive media stunt events like Porsche does.
Youre right: ZR1 deserves every praise because for the performance, the ZR1 is doing what mega-expensive euro cars 4x the cost are doing.
ZR1 proves you dont have to spend $500K to get the same performance.
Right on Bro, the ZR1 has all my respect
That chevy v8 sounds beauty.
C6 is the best corvette, that wide body looks so good and the way it sounds sheeeesh
why do so many people underestimate and question the quality and performance of the zr1
Nice review :-) I had a 2001 Z06 and it was a very dependable car. Very fast and fun car, drive what you like and can afford and stop bashing car you will never touch in your life.
I had a 98 Convertible and a bunch of Caddy's and BMW's since then - and I couldn't agree more. It's amazing all the welfare trash that think their opinion on cars means something, meanwhile they drive a ragged out used Ford Escort.
altimgamr......you troll too hard kid. You try and spam everyone here so that you're the only one able to comment on the video. This only proves the fact that you are a troll. So spam away, it's only a matter of time before Google+ finds you and gives you a permaban.
There are way too many video's, posts, blogs, reviews, etc that proves that the Z06 & ZR1 is a faster car around the track than the GT-R. We all know that the GT-R is a great car, so is the Z06 and ZR1. Now grow up or get out.
Now notice, I still didn't use any profanity against you, nor did I give you any derogatory remarks. I'm sure you're going to try and spam me out with your 8+ accounts as well. Keep at it troll, the Google+ mods will be after you soon enough.
The mighty ZR!
13:03 that looks like it says 195MPH to me, how'd you get 177?!
JediMindTricks183
I think they were measuring the speed at 1 mile. The top speed was 195, but was over the mile mark.
Scott Spears wrong! the speed in the dashboard is never accurate! on the dashboard was 195 but the real speed that you can find only by a GPS sistem was, like it showed, 177 mph
+Alexandru Boghean So, all those speeding tickets I got should be thrown because my speedo is inaccurate? Good to know.
+JediMindTricks183 The ZR1 covered the mile in 29.8 seconds. There are 5,280 feet in a mile.
5280/29.8 =177.181.
Wrong equation. You calculated average speed in feet per second. After converting your answer into mph it was 120.805.
While the interior is low rent, the car itself is a technical masterpiece.
Also the Corvette is loved around the world, not just in the United States.
Can someone put a LS9 in the C8 please?😁
He smiled more driving the vette...
i am impressed with the development of the american performanc ecars over the last 15 years.
was about time to get on par with the european competition.
greetings from germany
No,... No no no. We are not on par with you. We are kicking your ass!!
***** on par with the Europeans? Ha don't make me laugh
you are really stupid the veyron doesn't barely beat it it humilates it. And it not just speed its built quality and engineering know how. Look at the mustang still has a live real axle, the last time that was on a car in europe was 35 +
years ago
you guys realy comparing a handfull build showcase cars with a mass produced serial performance car?? this discussion is pointless especialy when it comes to pricetag.
ofc the tires and weels of a 400km/h + fast car are VERRY expensive, especialy after they are only produced in verry small numbers.
and ofc they wont last long under the extreem conditions.
the veyron is not the competition of a corvett.
the veyron is not the competition of ANY car, its a tech demo of a company that sayd : look whats possible if you ignore cost.
by the way, the veyron would lose a race on the nurburg ring vs the corvett or the porsche or ferari or even the nissan gtr.
thats where the comprtition of the corvett is: massproduced sportscars like the porsche and ferari and the nissan and here you see that the corvett is in the same league and has a suprisingly low pricetag for its performance.
thats the most markable thing, in history the us carcompanys refused to build performance cars beyond pure acceleration ability, they refused to considder the concept that underlies the european cars. the definition of what a sports car is and what he need to do where totaly different and therefor the produced cars where nowhere compareable.
the 2latest corvetts ARE compareable, they are constructed folowing similar demands on ability and driving performance and they are doing great.
At these price points it's still the same story 😂
Hahahahahahaha "bUt mY gErmmAn iNtErior is sUpErioR"
Corvette speedo said 200 mph
Yea while you Porsche fan boys are staring at your interior the Corvette is blowing by you.
Both cars are excellent, and any enthusiast would be elated to own either.
Sincerely,
A GM engineer who loves Porsches
Both are fantastic cars and each motivates one another towards perfection
Its a beast ! I have a 2010 ZR1 and love it
Wow 12:10 - 12:20 the ZR1 seems to accelerate while shifting up all the time :D I love the sound by the way :)
I've always loved the 911 and Porsche but you have to give props to Chevy .They've come a long way .This car is a fabulous car from top to bottom.
This video is still getting views 5 and a half years later.
Even 9 years later
10!

Driven both, loved both but ended up buying the ZR1 simply because I had more fun driving it
No exhaust. Sounds like a Vacuum 1:38
AND the ZR1 does 10.6 sec in the quarter mile with drag radials. which is the only way the drag race would be fair against a 4wd
Not even a close comparison. The Porsche is a a straight line monster, but the ZR1 is better performer.
The days of the powerful refined German sport cars are numbered. Even the reliability is also over. The world have changed. Unless you want to pay extra for more than already over priced. $$$$$ The game have changed. Charging more $ doesn't mean getting more. Lol
god damn, a 2011 tubo with just 500bhp did 60 in 3s?!
Torque is your friend.
mazin2892 the ZR-1 was made in 2009 as well. Both really amazing cars for their time.
Actually all wheel drive is your friend
4 Wheel drive. The Porker can put all its power to all the wheels and with the acceleration weight transfer to an already heavy rear end, it has enormous grip - aided of course by electronics moving the torque between the front and rear wheels to stop wheel spin. The ZR1 has a shitload more of torque and horsepower but its only a rear drive car. If you noticed on the standing starts, the slip regulation for the rear tyres is stopping the full amount of power available going to the rear wheels. But once past the point where the torque cannot overcome tyre grip, then the ZR1 simply will say goodbye to the Porker.
mazin2892 AWD.
911 Turbo S with carbon ceramics...still slower than Z06, let alone ZR1.
lys1395 GT2 rs
If the ZR1 was AWD it would be much slower around the track because if it's weight
true porsche fans make fun of awd porsche owners. hahaha
Well the zr1 has 138 more hp. She should pick on something her own size. If the horsepower were even it would be 911 all the way
I heard Corvette is making a Mid Engine Super car soon, can't wait!!
oh how well this aged
@@andypark1694 lmao
Joshua Walls Actually, a 2015 Z06 beats the GT@ RS in EVERY SINGLE CATEGORY. Fact.
The new GT2 RS hasn't been released yet. Now you are comparing different gen cars Lol. When the new GT2 RS comes out then it vs the C7 will be relevant. By then, the ZR1 will be released and the two beasts can battle it out.
We'll see.
Lol god your head to head videos have gotten so much better
ahhh yes the sweet sound of that v8
the ZR1 is just AMAZING!!! :O
That's due to traction
Not really it was the fact that car car was able to go around better and faster it a whole lot more than just traction.
I was commenting about 0-60 being slower only due to less traction on take off
Porsche engine in back helps with traction
Elgixxer2006 still spun the rear but prob in the programming
Billy Bob, what will you do with your lotto winnings? "I"m gonna buy a Green Vette and a bowling alley!
Amazing...
I'm surprised the Porsche didn't just spontaneously burst into flames while idling...
You are thinking Ferrari.
And sounds better...........................
just man that ass up for once and admit a defeat you ignorant beast. price difference is only badge prices plus a few extra commodities.
+B00steDevil So why would I pay 50k more fro just badge prices and extra commodities? Especially for the slower car.... sure the porsche might be nicer on the inside but no interior ever was worth 50k...
hemi600crate
Oddly enough, there are people out there than can afford to like, drive, and own Porsches. This is a company that makes $1,000,000+ cars. Like I said earlier, they're testing the fastest GM Product against something the middle of Porsche's lineup. Everyone always wants to bring up the money factor. If they are such a great value, how many do you have?
Your point is still invalid...
also the vette beat the porsche around the track by more than 3 seconds
this is a great vid..Not only was the driver surpised by how fast the zr1 is but also how well it handles the high speed corners.Plus the driver mentioned a couples times how well the zr1 handled the big bump compared to the 911.. Beating a 911 by almost 4 seconds is crazy, just shows how good the ZR1 is..well done chevy
i mean it has 638hp against the 475hp of the turbo. That is GT2 territory
Its irrelevant on that kind of track. The 911 has the advantange with all wheel drive on a technical track. The ZR1 is just the better performing car.
Ha ha!!! The Porsche broke down. No surprise to anyone that's owned a German vehicle. Most overpriced, unreliable junk on the road.
+S Walters "unreliable junk" you are talking about american cars I guess :) take a sit in porsche and compare quality between usa and german cars. US cars is SHIT, but fast ;) fast shit ha ha ha
Ignorance is bliss!
db _ I'll take reliability over an overpriced interior focused unreliable money pit any day.
your fucking crazy bro, german cars are the best in the world
Fast but unreliable. The Vette will run strong for a long time.
Very well said
Harikarikillboy
This is the only American sports car that can compete with European sports cars.
bighands69 ..............and your point is???????????
Bighands: seriously? Ever hear of Hennessy? SSC Ultimate aero? SSC tuatara? Saleen? Shelby cobra? Panoz? Dodge Viper? Ford Mustang GT500? Ford GT? europe has some very nice cars, no argument there. Be as silly as you'd like, but you're cars have been judged and found lacking compared to cars I've listed. Climb in a hole, cover your ears, shut your mouth and open your eyes, the blur you see is the American cars dominating the best europe has to offer. You're dismissed, schools over.
Harikarikillboy2174 Hennessey? Panoz? SSC? Mustang? Viper? Ford GT? LOL trash.
Vette sounds better, just saying. and one other thing the vette looks more up to date
*****
yup everyones got an opinion, I'm just a corvette fan, as the car has such a nostalgic history, I'm sure they're both fine cars, but I still like the sound of that big Chevy V8
***** Lol. Did you watch the same video everybody else did? Looks like you didn't. You can't compare the looks. The 911 is god awfull ugly while the ZR1 could be the best looking/sounding car ever next to some Lambo's and Ferrari's
***** The 911 is ugly, ugly, ugly! Unless you like the looks of a souped up VW Beatle.

The Porsche looks good sitting there broke, what else is there to say. POS.
Corvette ZO6 and ZR1 rule !!!
***** So what kind of car do you own?
I thought you were doing about 195mph where did that 177mph come from ? 😳
ZR1 destroyed the Porsche, and it looks like altimgamr agrees totally!
I wonder if altimgamr can afford a 911? He probably can't afford either since he must not have much of a job if he can't even spell like a human.
Thanks for my dick sauce fork!
Merp oh you're still alive what the fuckk
Merp ZR1 0-60 3.5sec Porsche 3 sec. Porsche destroyed Chorvette 😂
Merp yeah that's what I like most about Porsche
But the zr1 is also a fast car
Nice kill for the vette.
Corvette working mans sports car the Porsche is better built but it is also a lot more to maintain I work on my vette myself what a great simple car..
I'm a diehard Ford guy...but the Corvette is just awesome and you're right it is a working man's car...
+Aaron Jones its all about giving credit were credit is due I own a Camaro but the mustang will always be king of the muscle cars its the original and it will always be legendary
+DustinCorvetteZr1 what?
+Justin Pino He's right you know
Porsche better built.....it blew both turbos here?!?! LOL. Tempermental divas euros are....
I love Corvettes but who would know that a Porsche broke lol. The ZR1 is great but my love for the C6 Z06 with that big 7 liter LS7 is just insane.
the 911 sound is shit
Keyser Soze you are shit!!! Did you hear an 911 in real life?
Tire chirp into third lol

You have obviously not seen the video.

You do realize that there are 6 second cars running on street legal drag radials. I know you don't get out much and this is your main source of information, but feel free to search for them.
No suprise here the Europeans have arrogance, Americans have raw power and Great handling as well!
Porsche broke down BAHAHAHAHAGA
Love the zr1
Offcourse the 911 "broke down"..Where did they make the show? And where do they make the Vette? Does an american ever be able to win fairly? Lame-ass show!
Chalk it up to typical German unreliability. German cars break down....a lot. And they're not cheap to fix. Couple of blown turbo chargers should set you back $30,000. Not acceptable on a new car.
The USA is falling apart? Dude, you're stuck in 2008.
Out stock market is roaring, the dollar is soaring, and unemployment is down to 5.6%. How are things in the Russian petro-state nowadays?
You sound like an idiot tin foil truther. LOL
The rivalry between Corvette and Porsche will never get old
Seems suspicious the Porsche broke. They did not want to look THAT bad. Porsche has a history of not providing vehicles for real tests.
i love both of these cars, awesome vid
Base C6 vs 997 Turbo S
C6 Z06 vs 997 GT2
C6 ZR1 vs 997 GT2 RS
These are much more fairer comparisons
And at the end, everybody buys a Porsche around the world.
Lucky there was no "sound" test because that Chevy made that Porsche sound like a fucking Prius
The C6 Z06 and ZR1 are no joke. Beast mode
even with the wheelspin its still accelerating very rapidly
it hits 100kph in 1st gear with ease..
goes to 60mph in 1st
If you are going to compare the ZR1 with a Porsche you have to pick the equivalent model; which would be a GT3 RS or a GT2. The regular Turbo is a grand Touring car it's soft and too lifted.
+Harald Harb True they should have picked the 3.8L GT3 $130K vs. the turbo which is $149K vs $121K in this test. FYI the GT3 RS was $20K more.
GT3
0-60mph - 3.8
1/4mile - 12.1@ 118mph
GT3rs (997) willow track time 1:33.14
GT2 (997) 1:33.57
Zr-1 - 1:29.69
911 turbo - 1:33.31
+Harald Harb ZR1 would still kill them both. Big Willow is a super high speed track. Porsche only shine on tracks like Circuit of America.
Looked like 197 on the speedo. Then they said 177. Which is it?
Justin looks like a kid here 😆

The porsche is the girl next door the vette is the girl from the other side of town that that teaches her how to make a man happy
The corvette winds simply on LOOOKS. it looks a BILLION times better. Don’t even get me started on the sound.
Wow it murdered the ZR1 with broken turbo?... I can't wait to see what it can do with a sorted motor!
