To all Corvette haters, Steve Sutcliffe drove probably every sports cars there is. You just watch them on you PC in your room and talk shit. Steve Sutcliffe knows what he's talking about
@@lightsaberlordp373 Ironic, you wish to own the biggest trio rivalry in America, Chevy vs Ford vs Dodge. I will say though, the Viper is a very nice opponent for the Corvette.
A Brit admitting a Corvette is number one in it's category against these amazing European cars... tells you that Chevy did an admirable job. Love all those cars btw, I own an Audi, they are amazing.
It doesn't matter how good the new Corvette is. You could make it the best car in the world, and people would still vehemently hate it simply because it's American, which is sad really. Personally, I would be more than pleased to have any of these cars.
Most people outside USA dont like American cars because they are made of cheap material, unreliable engines and very cheap plastic interior compared to Japanese/European cars. Thats why they sale badly outside the USA
sammni Yeah the old Corvette's interior was pretty much garbage for a car as expensive as it was. I've been in the new one though, and it's definitely much improved. With the most premium interior package, I'd say it's right at about the same level as the 911, and slightly below the R8. I haven't been in the Jag though, so I can't really compare that.
***** Audi and BMW nothing but mechanical issues ? You must be kidding right ? or are you mistaking them for american cars ? american cars burn while you're stuck inside.. People buy BMW's because they last long, they pay a bit more than what a ford costs because they want something that lasts they know German engineering is better than american business.
gurbash washere People buy BMW's for status, that's it. They spend more time in the repair shop than any Corvette. Hell, my old Ford Ranger has less issues than any BMW...or Merc for that matter.
One thing to take into consideration is maintenance! The corvette has the new lt1 smallblock, all gm v8 vehicules will get a copy of that wich means maintening the corvette will probably cost 10x less!
People please, stop being biased on a car because of the Country it came from. True car enthusiast love all cars no matter where they come from. All of these cars are better than taking the bus like most of you argumentative children do.
Exoticars19 they can't compete with the US in anything else, so they run their mouths about everything they can, even if the thing is completely irrelevant.
방인성 That's pretty hilarious. I love to take pictures of supercars and the picture i took of the green Huracan makes for a great profile picture (IMO) And because of that, i'm a lambo fan all of the sudden. Funny
Jesus, after reading the comments I just can't understand how biased and close minded people are. Are these the best sports cars Europe has to offer? Obviously not, they are the same price range and are comparable to the C7. You aren't going to line up a Ferrari or a Lambo next to the C7. Even if they did that, you would get just as many people complaining its not a viable comparison. Yes, we all know the other cars in this video are probably better cars over all in the long term with build quality and such. Yes, we all know the Corvette is made of plastic. You have to look and compare it to the previous generation of Corvette though to really understand how far along it has come. It looks all most nothing like the previous generation, and it finally has good materials that you can live with. The interior is not full of plastic and stuff thats just going rattle off. Every one is just upset that Chevy has finally produced something special. I as a American have finally found interest in a American car. And this youtube channel, which is obviously not American is praising something that is American. That is worth something.
MrGovenator1 ***** Almost every car I have been in has plastic my friends, well at least every car that goes for 120k and less. The thing is however, the new high end plastic materials is actually soft touch plastic. The Corvette C7 only has a very small amount of it which is around the cup holders. Other than that I couldn't find any where else. But even so, the Porsche 911 and so on has plastic inside of it, it's just soft touch plastic however like the Corvette but it's around the dash. The old C6 actually had hard plastic up until 2011 or 12 models. The Corvette and Porsche are really the only two sports car known for long term driving and everyday driving. I have never heard of someone that drives an R8 all day everyday. The new Jaguar F-Type might be the next sports car however to join the Corvette and Porsche even though it's not that practical. The Z06 is mainly more Carbon Fiber with a new steering wheel, and a better performance vehicle with breaks and engine and somewhat dynamics.
***** I see what you are saying, but I am more talking about exterior. I know cars in this price range have plastic on the interior. And I know just about every can in this price range has plastic on the exterior. In areas like bumpers, and side skirts. I am just referring to how the old C6, and how its entire shell to my knowledge was entirely plastic. I don't know how the new C7, but I image its probably still mostly plastic to keep cost down. Its probably a higher grade plastic than what it used to be though. I would buy a C7 regardless if it was plastic if I had the money, and wanted something in that price range. If I had more money though I would defiantly opt for something of higher value. In the end though, this new Vette is a price that all most can't be beat. I am not quite sure which I would have though. A M3 or C7... If practicality is of no issue, probably the C7.
MrGovenator1 Oh well, I remember feeling most of the exterior, and I remember how most C6's until the new models had pretty much a bad just bad plastic everywhere outside of it till the body would actually bend in especially with the trunk. One of the first things I did with the C7 was test the trunk, yes it does bend, but you need to be seriously just using shear force and power to bend it in and noticed how thin the trunk door was to save space meaning it's probably not plastic but who knows, it just felt like it takes too much force to actually move it. The exterior 100% feels more premium than the C6 as far as the trunk and hood goes. and there is Carbon Fiber on the exterior and a pretty decent amount of it. The reason I am interested in Corvettes is because they can be used everyday. The only way I am going to roll in a Ferrari or something else is if I had the money to own two cars at once which I don't see happening. Corvettes are everyday cars that can be used everyday, Ferrari isn't. Practicality is no issue in a corvette unless you need somewhere for a car seat. Has a big trunk, a livable interior that isn't overdone. I like the M3, would I take it over a Corvette, depends, I don't trust BMW anymore or not as I use too.
My, my, my. Listen to all of the Euro-trolls crying and whining! They'll do anything to not give the new 'Vette it's due. Virtually every reviewer, both foreign and domestic, has raved about the new Stingray.. I think that speaks very eloquently to the performance and quality of the C7. And there's something else to remember when choosing a sports car/GT for a daily driver. Luggage space. With over 15 cu. ft. of trunk space, the 'Vette is miles ahead of all of the competition. The only one that comes close is the Jag. And figure-in the superb 29 mpg highway gas mileage of the 'Vette, and you have an undisputed winner. By the way, the preliminary performance numbers are in for the Z06. 0-60: 2.95 secs for the automatic and 3.2 secs for the manual. 60-0 braking distance: 99 ft., and the kicker, 1.20 g lateral acceleration. Yeah, 1.2 g! I think that's the highest number for any production street car. So you can get a Z06, with all of that incredible performance, and STILL pay less than a Porsche 911 S with no options, which now has a base price of $98,800. Incredible.
Alex Heed No, the Mustang, Challenger and Viper aren't very impressive. At least not outside of a drag strip. It's just GM kicking some sportcar and supercar ass.
John Harrison The Viper TA with just 640 horsepower and a manual gearbox used to hold the lap record around Laguna Seca until the Porsche 918 came along. The Ford Mustang was one of the three finalists for Car & Driver's performance car of the year and "now any car that costs less than $50k will have to answer to the Mustang." Okay, the Challenger Hellcat is basically a 100th birthday present to Dodge but you have to admit it's very impressive.
Alex Heed The TA is new, limited run, a track specialist, I'd bet Z06 is still just as fast (for around 45k less, if I'm not mistaken), and the Vette is probably better on the road. But still, that's impressive and I will admit that the Viper is a decent car, but the Mustang isn't that impressive outside of a straight line still, though a sub 3.5 second 0-60 is very impressive for a vehicle under 100k, let alone 60. Still, that doesn't make its cornering any better.
Whatever car you're a fan of, you do have to give GM credit for finally taking the Corvette seriously and upgrading it. The C6 they started to work at being more competitive on a performance level but the C7 has a pretty nice interior, performs VERY well, continues being very fuel efficient compared to cars of similar power ratings and is still dirt cheap. It's a damn good car plain and simple.
It's interesting that the Corvette is still competitive at a price point of 62000 pounds. That is WAY more than we have to pay for it in the United States. I just ran the straight conversions through Google, and 62000 pounds is equivalent to $101,000. Over here the base price is $51,000. Imagine getting this car for 32000 pounds and you see why Americans are so excited about it.
fikes73 No that's the way they all come sans infotainment center bullshit and the Z51 package is a $2,500 upgrade over here...which is phenomenal for what you get!
OK, it's not the full base model, but still the difference for the options should be much less. Maybe that means it's 35-40k pounds with options. That's still a huge difference that the British market is seeing.
At £32,000 it would be great. Then it really is a muscle car bargain. At £62,000 plus options (that you really need because who wants the base at that price?) it's in some very special car territory.
It isn't that they "can't appreciate", it is that they "won't appreciate". They simply can't stand the thought of being humiliated by a better American Product that costs a hell of a lot less.
Well they go on about quality now lol. The only better quality i see are maybe all steel body panel's ( which is heavier) nicer paint and better interior which does nothing at the track. All the mechanical shit is no better really and the electrical is all out sourced Chinese shit like everything else. The corvette is way more raw and a Porsche snob would shit his pants in a vette without all his driving assists, AWD and low torque motor. The big v8 laughs at the sub 4 liter euro engines. At the race track you cant even hear the other cars when the Corvette is racing lol. Yeah the Porsche and such are like scalpel's at the track but compared to the experience of a corvette with a proper manual they are like going to star bucks
It's not that we don't appreciate Corvettes because they are American. I love them! They are the best bargain. However they are very visually aggressive, which is cool, but also not really desirable for many of us. When we go to work we don't wanna be recognized as "the one with the exotic car" . Porsches look almost like normal cars and they don't draw as much attention, which is good for those of us who wanna go unnoticed. Also, Porsche may be more expensive, but in terms of built quality, materials etc etc is amazing and superior to the Corvette, even though the Vette has improved significantly. Porsche also has 4 seats, it's usually faster on a straight line (the last one is not faster than the c8 though) and on a track they are usually just as fast as a Vette. The PDK is also a superior transmission, compared to the American one, although the new c8 has finally a good automatic gearbox. The engine is also usually more efficient and less thirsty. Finally there is also a subjective reason: Porsche with its design and the rear B6 engine is an iconic car that is very much loved here in Europe. Of course the Vettes are the best bargain, but if the price is not an issue, I can see why many people choose Porsche. Besides the Vette in Europe is a lot more expensive than in the US, so the the price gap gets narrower. Also, the Vette loses value very fast compared to Porsche, at least in Europe. Honestly I think American people should feel appreciated anyway. We Europeans learn English as a second language, we listen to your artists, we watch your TV series, we appreciate your culture very much. Do you Americans do the same? Do you learn European languages? Do you take the time to explore the culture of an other country? Usually not. So don't come for us if we choose a Porsche over a Vette! We support your country everyday by celebrating your culture. We have every right to buy a European car if we like it better, we don't have to choose American products over ours in every department. We already do that when it comes to music, movies etc etc. Besides, we like the Vette!
I just bought a 2015 stingray and selected this car over a 911 and F-Type. Why? Good question! I wasn't considering a Vette, looking at the F-Type Jag and 911 S. Turning to RUclips reviews to break the tie, I stumbled upon the new 2015 Stingray. The noticeably redesign moves from the muscle car look, for the first time, to sexy European styling. I watched many, many reviews here regarding the new Corvette and quickly came to the conclusion that I would be foolish to not consider this car. I already priced the F-Type at $139,000 and the 911 S well over $140,000. So, with those $$$ in mind, I drove down to the local Chev dealer (I know I still can't believe it). and walked up on 2015 stingray. I can honestly say, this car looks great. I couldn't believe the luxury, high end feel I got from this car. People where actually standing around looking at this car saying how great it looks. I opened the door and sat inside... WOW, what a change to normal chev vehicles! Obviously the 911 and F-Type is higher quality (not much) and you are sitting in two huge brands, but other than filling my snob requirements, I could not justify paying an extra 60,000 - 70,000$ for that "snob" feeling. I'm not going to race this car, I'm not going to challenge every vehicle on the road, I'm not going to memorize the performance numbers and argue why mine is better... What I will do is... count my 60-70,000$ while I wait for beautiful sunning days. I will then pop the top, put on a few great driving tunes and take this baby out for a ride and enjoy every minute as much as I would in the 911 or F-Type.
That's awesome! I agree, the first thing I thought when I saw the c7 was "wow, looks Italian". I love the sweeping lines with the angular edge to them, it's a real eye-catcher too, more so than a 911 for sure.
Your post is, quite truly, the only one worth reading here. Thank you for taking the time to write something well thought, reasoned and honest. I tire of all the childish arguing based upon past prejudice. Enjoy your new car!
Steve sutcliffe & chris harris are the best auto journalist, they are not biased, honest opinions and true racers, not like the three clowns from top gear.
One thing the reviewer forgot to mention in the braking test, is that the Porsche 911 has the optional $8500 CERAMIC brakes (note the yellow calipers). I would think for fairness the should compare the Stingray to the stock 911 brakes.
The C7 Corvette Stingray Z06 just posted a time of 2.95 seconds for 0-60mph. it also posted the best time around the Milford road track, better than a ZR1. It pulls 1.2g it stops from 0-60mph in just 99.6 feet.. awesome!!!!!!!!!!
Ethanmeister Chris Harris followers are crying. Another Euro. magazine, Motorsport has done the numbers: auC4DAruZG0 Circuit: Magny Cours Club 911 Turbo s : 1'20.77 C7: 1'21.72 R8 V10: 1'22.58 911 C4S: 1'22.98
Amit Das Indeed, the real clever people drive cars for a weekend (if they can) then buy one, I hardly ever pay attention to these magazines anymore, they are just another form of advertising.
Gentleman's comparison, very nice, the only thing I learned here is the fact there's nothing better than the symphony of a V8 in the C7 or the F-Type, such a power-sound, love it !
If price was the metric used in the comparisons, why didn't they compare it to the Boxster S or Caymen? The Corvette would eat it up, that's why. The Corvette is such a bargain. It begs the question why would anyone buy a damn Boxster or Caymen or any comparable sports car in this range. Hell, this Corvette is so boss even Tony Danza would be shaking in his boots.
I totally agree, and if they got a Z06 with the Z07 package and stage 3 areo they'd have to contact Mclaren, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Audi R8 V10 + or see if the 2016 GT3 RS was available.
in reality the corvette shouldn't even be in the same category as the other cars, the other cars should way out perform the corvette, but the fact is they don't, and for the price difference who wouldn't want the vette. its a budget supercar, don't get me wrong its a high budget but compared to, I think I made my point
That its A budget high performance car compared to the price on the others in the video. Even though its price is high also, its half of what the others are but performance wise as good, that's my point, made it clear the first time
What you have to understand is that, the corvette is a car a regular guy can afford, I know that the material of the car can't compares with a Porsche or Audi. But what we as a corvette enthusiasts wants is the power of an V8, reliability, driving characteristics, the sound of the pushrod engine, the torque.
Fear not. I'm sure Jeremy Clarkson and the Top Gear crew will once again think of a way to protect your fragile European egos and sooth your inferiority complex, even if they do have to tell outright lies. Maybe Clarkson will say the C7 Corvette's suspension was done by Lotus?
Dude, I don't think you really know how Clarkson feels about the Corvette. He loved the previous generation... yeah, he mocked the trunk lid, build quality and other things (he makes an entertainment show!!), but, in the end, he named the Corvette ZR1 "The Best Car Of 2008". From my point of view that means quite a lot! He believed that, in 2008, the world did not see a better car than the ZR1. Do you think he would really give it that title if he wanted to protect the fragile European egos?
Malc180s I see your point...except American cars ARE sold in Europe. European auto journalists even review American cars that are not exported to Europe. And it's not just American cars. Top Gear has tried to shit all over Asian cars that, like the Corvette and Ford GT, trump Europe's finest.
Mzn T For someone who reviews cars and then makes up the legendary bullshit of trying to give European automakers credit where it is not due (saying Lotus helped with the Ford GT and Nissan GT-R, for example) there can be no excuses...
Idoloish Shits all over asian guitars? For starters - what the fuck are asian cars? Indian? Chinese? Korean? Russian? Cars from these nations deserve to be shat on. Or do you mean Japan? I suppose it's not like Clarkson and co loved the NSX, and announced the LFA as the best car in the world. The only competition between nations when it comes to cars is in the minds of the Americans. No one else cares. Really. Us British hate the Germans far more than we hate you, and every second car is an audi, a bmw, a porsche, a merc. And we hate the French even more, and there are thousands of renaults, pugs and citroens everywhere. Xenophobic car fanboys are clearly just an american thing.
I understand a lot of the comments about the Vette's interior and not being a "high class sports car" but in the REAL WORLD with those that have kids, a wife, mortgages, bills, and food to put on the table, there is no competition. That "extra" 50 to 100 grand that you are spending on the europeans, does not even make them realistic. But I don't want to be a party pooper. Go ahead and speak like another 50 THOUSAND DOLLARS, doesn't make any difference. But when reality hits you. And it WILL hit you like a ton of bricks one day. It will hit you like a grad A bitch. Corvette Stingray for me please. Carry on kids.
Someone who buys a Corvette doesn't have a wife and kids, and is quite rich. If he has a wife and kids, and still buys the Corvette, then he is very rich to be able to easily afford such a car as a second or third car...something to just trash around on the weekend. And he will not mind paying another 50k to get a better car in every single way, that will last longer, like the R8 or 911. Maybe not a much better car, but when you're on such a high level, each detail makes a difference, and putting a lot of small differences together, results in a completely different experience. Besides, you can't escape from the "douche-mobile" image of the Corvette, it just doesn't have class and sophistication about it that the 911 for example has. I'd say it justifiably costs considerably less than the Europeans, because its not as all around accomplished.
derbigpr500 Another 50k is roughly 100% of a C7s base sticker price. Most people looking spend 50-60k for a sports car will not consider spending another 50k (or 100k in the case of the R8). You are obviously not a true car lover because of your "douche-mobile" comment. An enthusiast cares less about what people are thinking when they are spotted in a car than the pleasure they receive from driving it. Last point...tough sell on 911s or R8s lasting longer than an LS (now LT) powered corvette. Search IMS bearing failure in 996s....ugly. Porsches are great cars but tough to beat corvette reliability.
Leonidae The same can be said for Porsche owners, Jaguar owners, and anyone willing to drop 150K on an Audi. They're all old man, midlife crisis mobiles. Even rich parents won't let their kid go and buy a $150K supercar. Get your head out of your ass.
Funny thing is: I have yet to see the C7 on Top Gear (UK that is), which makes sense because the guys won't review a legitamite American car. Every time they review an American Car on Top Gear, it is the lowest end model and they always say bad things about it.
I can name a few great cars built in the past few years... America used to build great cars, but when the car industry failed in 2007, we had to build it back up. I would call this car, the Ford Raptor, the Dodge Viper, the Ford GT, and the New mustang pretty good cars if you asked me.
Alex Malashev Yeah i know exactly what you are saying. Our cars are truly crap, but i thing some cars built here are misunderstood. The small company SSC is making the fastest car in the world and it is a truly American Company. John Hennessy sure as hell cant build a car, but he is very clever and can put together quite a car. I realize it is a kit car of sorts, but the reason of the publicity is that it is the best ever built. Most people see the lotus etc. etc. but when you see the true beauty of the car and how beautifully it corners compared to the Veyron, the Venom looks better and better. Yes, the Veyron is a beautiful luxurious car with amazing design, but the thing is a freaking boat! The beauty of the Venom is the creativity and how well it was engineered.
Alex Malashev The Mustang isn't a joke. It's a muscle car and not meant to be compared on the same merits as a well sorted BMW sports car on a circuit. American muscle just doesn't have a global appeal...
I am a big Porshe fun and German car fun in general. What I like about US cars is they bring performance driving in it's purest essense to the public. European high performance cars are reserved for the rich. And there's a bit too much in the way of electronics between the driver and the road. Young people don't care about finesse, they want handling, performance, looks and awesome acoustics. And they want them to be within their reach, not have to wait till they are 50 and bald to get them. If ever...
What I like about the Vette too is you can actually live with it and DD it on a daily basis and take it to track on the weekend. It's far more reliable than any of those European cars and the parts are cheaper too.
In the braking test at 4:00 the porsche appears to be on dryer pavement than the vette. The porsche was behind the corvette before they both started braking. Seems like a bad test to me.
Is it just me or when they tested the brakes the vette had wet patches of road and a different material to ride on vs the porshe? they should have done that better or atleast put both cars on both sides of that patch of road...
I hadn't noticed that but you're absolutely right, you'd think somebody from their staff would have noticed, at least switch lanes and do the test a few times.
For the price you can't beat a c7. It's literally half the price of a well equipped 911 and about $40,000 cheaper than a Cayman gts. The z06 will still be cheaper than a 911 and will probably be compared to a gt3,458,gtr, etc
The base model C7 was not even compared with a 458, they compared it with the F12 and the C7 lost by not even a full second. I never understood why people complain about the Vette. If the much heavier, less horsepower, less expenisve C7 almost beat that F12, I have no idea why people complain.
The people that usually complain are the europeans who don't know a thing about the car. They talk down to it even though it holds it's own against extremely high end cars
Militant Monkey Actually people complain about Corvettes because they are just to ignorant to accept that a cheaper American car can actually outperform and fucking Ferrari for less and other cars. Oh btw, best GT car vs Best sports car. Now you are going to go off and call me a GM fan girl when I actually know my facts, the only vehicle's I actually like from Chevy is the Corvette and SS and partially the Malibu. So you must have not understood my fucking point which goes to show how stupid you are. Years ago, the base Corvette was never compared with the 458, reviewers always used the ZR1 and Z06 but never the 427 or base. Omg, I hope you know your top dog 458 is slower around the track on multiple racetracks then the Corvette is, even the ring. Oh and next time you generalize best GT car vs the best sports car that's literally 150k-200k cheaper, make sure you understand that lap time because that is a serious joke of a lap time for that ferrari, it should literally be 10 seconds faster than the Porsche at least yet it was not even an entire second faster than the base model Corvette meaning the Z06 2015 will dominate it. It's fucking hilarious how you think a Corvette that has seriously stepped it's game up all around and is now the number 1 sports car beyond multiple reviewers actually can't compete with a Ferrari or Euro cars in general, oh and wrong, many Corvettes have been sold worldwide and that statistic is growing thanks to the C7.
Militant Monkey Yes, you are ignorant, going around calling me and others ignorant just because you think we are or act like Americans which in that generalization makes you ignorant and stupid. All you do all day is research cars from all over the world but yet you can't even admit when a Corvette did hell of a damn good job nearly beating a F12 on track for how much less it is. Oh and because someone "acts American" they are automatically pathetic. You need to grow up. There is a fucking culture difference you idiot. Learn to respect that. So you work with cars on trade? Something I guess you don't know about me, living in LA and knowing many wealthy and rich people and being good friends with many car enthusiast has allowed me to drive and part take passenger in some of the cars you can only dream of owning. Stop trying to act all big because if you worked with cars like the way I do, you would understand, just like how every reviewer understand, yet you are ignorant towards American cars, and I'm not even close to being ignorant towards European.
The C7 ZR1 is a supercar that blows away cars 3 times as much. Corvettes have always looked better and now we have the C8 Corvette mid engine supercar ..it knocks the socks of Europes porsches, jags bmw and mercs..even a base model is faster than a McLaren and the interior is better than any mentioned. 0to 60mph in 2.8 seconds tested..not claimed for a base model..ow how Corvette has moved into no.1 spot for jaw dropping beauty and performance..and I'm British!!!!
hello, American here. sorry Europeans, your shit sounding "burbling" v8s can never sound as amazing as that refined and symphonious LT-1 "snarl." it's just amazing.
Nice review to make us on this side of the pond feel good. I hope people do realize that this is more of a look at what a great bargain you can get from this car. Instead of look at the performance you get and forget about everything else argument. Nobody in their right mind would honestly expect the c7 to best the likes of McLaren, Ferrari and higher Porsche! I will be getting a Z06 in a few years and cherish it as if it were a Ferrari!
The C7 is just an all around great super car when u look at performance, price, looks, interior, fun to drive experience, and great track abilities. I just found it funny how now it seem like people want to nick pick about the littliest imperfections about the C7 or talk about American cars in the past when in reality they know its a great supercar that can hang and even beat out plenty of those $100,000 cars anyday. LETS TALK ABOUT RIGHT NOW!! The C7 is a remarkable car point blank period! USA!
I love 911's to death, but Corvettes just tickle something inside me.. love the sound and the manual gearbox, the looks of the C6 were better in my view though.
Let's be serious , the 991 looks great , and it has that design it's a trade mark unbeatable . The previous generation of corvette was something i could get into , this one , i'll just go with the Porsche.
that the porsche looks great is your opinion. In mine its the Corvette by far and, instead of the porsche, every single part and point is styled, greetings from germany the homeland of porsche.
I loved my Vettes. I threw a Carol stage 6 supercharger on one of my Z06. It was the wildest ride ever. Still my favorite of all my cars though was my Porsche 911 turbo.
Sunyata My step Dad had a 67 and I dreamed of owning a corvette my entire childhood then i drove one in the late 80's and the dream died. Your'e not a hater they were just garbage for 30+ yrs. It felt like the thing was going to fall apart around me, cornered like my pickup and I got beat in a drag race by a nissan maxima... A FRIGGIN MAXIMA! GM redeemed themselves a bit with the C6 but I may have to make some room in the garage for this C7.
ras22273 I hope you know that the 80's where terrible for almost all american cars. So with that said you shouldnt have been shocked that the vette as bad.
Hey now I had a 88 IROC-Z at the time and.... ok it was sad under powered POS too but I still had a lot of fun in that car. Actually wish I still had it lol...
It's not about what GM can "afford"; it's about what the customers can afford. Designing a separate wheel for manual and automatic cars would do nothing but increase production costs, and that increase would be passed onto buyers. By doing it this way, GM saves a few bucks with every 'Vette made, and the more they save in production, the more features they can offer elsewhere without hiking up the price.
Exactly, in America, the Corvette makes so much sense, but here in Blighty after a hefty import tax, the car is up against much fiercer rivals. Chiefly, I'd rather take a 550bhp Jaguar F-Type R Coupe because after the annoying tax, two cars which are in different leagues have to compete against each other.
I love all those sports cars they're always some of my favourites like the Audis and Porsches and Jaguars but I especially also always adore and love American cars so so much like that amazing Corvette Stingray because it's always one of my all time favourite sports cars ever!!!
I'm a Ford, Aston and Porsche guy through and through, but the truth is this Corvette is epic. And this is just the base model too. Gawd, it pains me to say it but' "Well done GM." Do love the Jag though, especially the sound. But just not worth the asking here in Canada I'm afraid.
I initially hated the C7 seeing it at last year's Woodward Cruise, but it's grown on me tremendously over the past few months. I'd now even take it on aesthetics alone.
4:43 - Really? It's a draw, the corvette has an actually sound, that jaguar just has a "Shhhhiiitiitiititiiiit" noise you can barely hear with head phones and the volume all the way up.
Ahhh c'mon, I can agree on the C7 having the most throaty and pure sound but the Jaguar has a sweet sound too, if you hear it between buildings it will blow your ears out, trust me :)
The Jaguar had a button in which you can turn up the volume, and i believe they had it turned off as i have heard the jag in other videos and it sounded bloody wonderful. (much better than in this video)
i kinda thought the sound was a pretty good draw between the two depending on your taste or what yourre in the mood to hear, OTHER than the jag didn't have hardly any sound when its at full throttle at higher rpms. but i agree that the vette had a more natural roar whereas the jag had that same sound that most european sport cars have. sounds fake and processed
Acceleration: Porsche vs Corvette?! What an utterly stupid thing to do. The Porsche's there for its handling, precision, quality and every day usability. Not, and never, for its huge grunt. I rarely bitch about what Steve does, but the above mentioned part is moronic and completely missing the point. i would have expected a corrupt american car reviewer to do that comparison, nort a highly respected european. Overall: Yeah.. It seems that when the americans actually decided to start building a car in a manner similar to what other countries have practized for decades, they come up with a good one. that's brilliant. The europeans have had it WAY to easy up until now, with no real competition from America. Things just might start to get interesting from now on, if the americans up their game :)
The 911 has a kerb weight of 1395kg, while the Corvertte's is 1,562kg. The Stingray is the base model, while the 911 is not. Therefore, unfair and biased towards the Porsche.
"The European car is a tad better than the Corvette, but heck, let's call it a draw!" Though to be fair, the nature of this video caters to the Corvette's strengths, while the nature of the videos from Drive and MT caters to the European cars' strengths.
ANGRY EUROS INBOUND! America makes a great car with the luxury of a 60k car and the performance of a 100k car...but with a 60k price tag, why are you Euroboys mad that we can compete?
It's not really sold in Europe. There are no garages. If it was on sale people might buy it, but as it is it's a very expensive car with no real sell on value (in Europe) and no support network. Might as well be talking about TVR in america. If people could walk into a UK showroom and buy a £60k right hand drive corvette they just might. But they can't. So they won't.
you must be high on crack if you believe this car costs 60k in Europe. It's 100k euros that is almost double compared to what you get in US. And in that price range we start to get better options then the corvette. That's why we generally feel indifferent and dont get the hype about the corvette.
wtf lol notice how in the braking test against the porsche the corvette is in the wet part of the road and the 911 isnt ... mmm pretty bs if you ask me
oh shut up. it's not the best number you can get from this engine, and what other engine of this size do you know of that can get 30 mpg highway? also, the c63 amg has the exact same engine size and roughly the same power output, so think it through before you go bashing american engineering just because of some stupid elitist British ideology about the rest of the world.
It also has cylinder deactivation and better mileage than the LESS powerful 911 also if its power you want you can get the "mid range" Z06 with 630 bhp and 650 lb feet of torque and a transmission that was developed to be quicker not only than the ZF 8 speed but also the Porsche PDK and at the same price of the other three here and faster than ANYTHING the top models of the Europeans (save their million dollar hypercars) and after that there will be the ZR1 in 750 bhp area for less money than the OPTIONS list of the 911
Always some douchebag bringing up the GTR and always in surroundings where it doesnt belong. The C7, 911 etc are the base models, and all of them has less than 500 hp. The GTR isn't in this class and it should instead be compared VS the 911 Turbo, the ZR-1, R8 V10 and so on and tbh the outcome isn't as easy for your beloved GTR then is it ?
Here's the recipe, I work at jag ;) 1. Start with a gnarly 5.0 liter V8. 2. Add 1 half pound of Supercharged forced-induction goodness. 3. Finally, top it all off with a dusting of finely tuned, hand-crafted aluminum exhaust pipes. Simple recipe, yes. Cheap recipe? Not so much. Results: Quite worth the $
Goosebumps. I'd never thought I would find myself pining after a Corvette. But this new Stingray has captured me. Kudos (finally) to GM for making a sports car that has refinement, and can hold it's own with some of the best.
where's the Porsche (with that LOVELY Sports Design airo paket) in the handling/fun part of the test? Ya just know that one would send the rest home, even if its not a GT3 or Turbo
This BASE C7 costs less than the OPTIONS on the Base 911, but you want to compare it to the others which will literally be 4 times the cost .. there is a Corvette for that ...The 630hp 659lbft Z06 which will still be cheaper than the BASE 911 and eat them all for dinner and come back for seconds. Please remember that the C6 ZR1 (older model) is faster than the GT3 and GT2RS
Deo Heerai for those who can buy a car in that class, money isn't that much of a factor, they just want what bests suits them, and the few of those who REALY know cars, Porsche is simply the closest to perfection ya can get periot ! the base vette (outside usa) will mostly be bought by the workingclass guy who has no wife or child to take in account 8) yes i admit, Ami cars realy caught-up they're 10y backlog in the past 2y, but like BMW ya don't get rid of that macho image that eazy, and look at BMW now, they became ugly as hell because of it xD
Iris C The price is not the main point . If you want to compare a corvette to a higher range model of the 911 then use the Z06 the next model up from the base C7..Or shall we compare the 911 to a Mclaren mp4 or Ferrari 458 speciale (since price is not a concern) as state what a woefully incompetent crap boxes Porsches are. Money DOES matter 911 and corvette buyers are NOT at the high end of sportscar buyers they are at the very bottom , BUDGET sportscars. The only reason people buy Porsche 911's is the price, they are the most dated and ugliest of modern sportscars so they have driveability as their ONLY plus
Deo Heerai its pretty clear u've never driven any Porsche yet %) and obviously a ZO6 will smoke a base 911 in a strait line, but i'm talking about handling & FUN !!! the reward of hitting a perfect corner !!! it used to be slow in, fast out but with the latest cars its brakesteer into the corner, hitting the perfect apex spot and being able to hit the throttle on that same apex for max exitspeed !!! for me anything over 500hp in a roadcar is purely there for bragging rights and needs al kinds of electronic help to keep it on the road, the McLaren is a masterpiece but it drives U, but its made so good it lets ya THINK, U're driving it. and Ferrari? sorry thats 80% the name ya paying for %) Porsche (for me) has the prettyest curved lines (next to the old AC Cobra 427) and is the best DRIVERScar, the most FUN, i don't need to "smoke" someone else to feel good, plus its still the cheapest (bare those Ami macho creations) and most durable of the lot
Hm... the 911 had ceramic breaks on - not a very fair comparison, as they cost quite a lot [not standard] - for the performance, we already knew, that the Stingray is good. If you compare it to the "best of Porsche" you would need to compare the quality, the comprehensiveness of the whole car...
Well then we could say the same thing about how the Vette has a V8, and a large one at that, so the speed test isnt fair. Its run what ya brung. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Vette won the speed and porsche won the stopping. But dont you worry, for this is the base corvette. We've yet to see the Z06 which im sure will be priced more closely to these euro monsters.
***** I think the point was the 911 had optional brakes, where the Corvette had base (I don't know if this was a Z51 equipped). The Z06 will have carbon brakes to even the field a bit.
Adam S - Yes I referred to that. The ceramic brakes are a very expensive options. ***** There is no point to compare the speed between Porsche and Vette. Why? Because it is simply not the point. You won't buy a 911 CS, if you would like to have the fastest car. You buy it, because it has style [while it is not "over styled"], because of the quality, because of the overall package, because of the history... Who wants to be very fast will take a GT3, a Turbo (S) or a GT2. But I believe, that most people (at least those who buy a 911) are anyway more mature. So what is the point of 30 -100? Are you doing drag races on open roads? And how many people are using their car on the track? So in a real world comparison, it would also come down to an usability as daily driver category. And while I like the new Corvette without context, I would think twice to buy one - if I would live in lets say Europe. The appeal is just too "pimp-like".
James Lewis This is correct [if you see the braking isolated]. However the ceramic brakes supposed to be larger rotors compared to the standard 911 S brakes - and would pretty much increases the braking power.
The big problem for Europe is that the C7 is only going to get better...Even the ZL1 Camaro is taking it to the GT-R with better braking, less understeer and more driver involvement on a dime's worth cost.
It was only a matter of time till the Yanks caught up with the rest of the world and produced similar cars for much cheaper due to econmics, dynamics of the country, population it was always going to happen
Great vid! Nice editing and narration. KUDOS on the cam from behind driver! Loved to look at that sweet interior and drifting from that angle. Seldom done in any other vids.
No arguing the 458 and 12C will outperform a C7, but they each have at least 100 hp more than the corvette and cost five times the price in the states. That doesn't equate to an equal comparison.
At less than 1/3 the price, why not put it up against a Ferrari California? Wouldn't that be a more fair comparison? As was mentioned, the C7 Z06 Z07 will be showing up soon to take on the "bigger" boys. That too will be a bargain as GM said with all options it will be under $100,000 in the US and it out performs the C6 ZR1 which was $117,000.
C7 corvette is an excellent car no doubt but I found it quite silly to test the best handling car(the 911) strictly on a straight which is it's weakest point. Either way the corvette is a good car and the interior looks a lot higher quality then I have ever seen in a American car.
Much respect to Autocar and Sutcliffe. That took guts to post this video and those opinions about the C7 vs Europe. Don't be afraid to do the same when the ZO6 becomes available. I would really enjoy seeing how it fares against comparably powerful European cars regardless of price in head-to-head matchups. I just don't want to hear value pointed out anymore about Corvette as that's a given. Let's stick with technology, performance and build quality, where the snobs foolishly think the C7 fails. Oh, and the dude can drive!
Never liked the old corvettes, but the new Stingray has one of the most elegant designs I've seen. I feel like the design is a blend of every high end grand touring cars out there. Just beautiful.
It's a double edged sword. 90% of the people driving a Corvette won't drive it on the track or have the skill to drift it... so when the Corvette 'gets fun' a.k.a starts drifting etc. those 90% would be scared shitless and crash the car.
***** I am talking about the past history of Corvettes (C6 and below). The C7 definitely is an excellent car and comfortable - I have driven in one. But you still need a certain amount of skill with a high horsepower RWD car. The 4-wheel drive R8/911 are more 'idiot' proof. Also, 75% get the track pack it since makes the car more cooler and more aggressive, not because 75% of all C7 drivers go to the track.
wet or dry you can not say that other car is better in handling but because its wet it it has 4x4 and its more expensive there for its a draw. either he is bias or had a brain fart
"The best europe has to offer"?? .... The lowest spec 911 available, the Audi R8 without the Gallardo V10 and a jaguar convertible which you'd take your kids to school in. Maybe this should have been called 'Europes budget supercars vs the best America has to offer..' Put the V10 in that R8 or break out a Ferraris or the McLaren at least - Chris Harris wouldn't have done me like this! Still loving the Corvette on the value for money front and that manual gearbox, I salute you for that alone.
To all Corvette haters, Steve Sutcliffe drove probably every sports cars there is. You just watch them on you PC in your room and talk shit. Steve Sutcliffe knows what he's talking about
Corvettes are always very good and very amazing plus it's an American dream car I always want to own alongside with a Mustang and Dodge Viper
Yes 🥰
It doesn't matter how good the new Corvette is. You could make it the best car in the world, and people would still vehemently hate it simply because it's American, which is sad really.
Personally, I would be more than pleased to have any of these cars.
Most people outside USA dont like American cars because they are made of cheap material, unreliable engines and very cheap plastic interior compared to Japanese/European cars. Thats why they sale badly outside the USA
sammni
Yeah the old Corvette's interior was pretty much garbage for a car as expensive as it was.
***** strange im onto my second Audi A3, with well over 100k and no issues at all, same applies to my work colleagues with BMW's
gurbash washere People buy BMW's for status, that's it. They spend more time in the repair shop than any Corvette. Hell, my old Ford Ranger has less issues than any BMW...or Merc for that matter.
People claiming they can get a Cayman GT4 for the price of a Stingray, good luck finding one.
Agreed! I have looked and looked. Every GT4 now is at least $10k over MSRP for a used car.
There was a new one for sale at my local dealer for $134K
Even in 2020, for the cheapest used 2016 GT4 cayman vs the cheapest used c7 stingray, you’re looking at paying $30k+ more for the Porsche.
Cayman GT4 costs 110-120K in my area, the C8 corvette stingray costs 70-80K in my area, the C7 corvette stingray costs 40K in my area
@PYXB3 the cheapest cayman GT4 I found was $90,000.
One thing to take into consideration is maintenance! The corvette has the new lt1 smallblock, all gm v8 vehicules will get a copy of that wich means maintening the corvette will probably cost 10x less!
Can't wait for my holden to have one, soon enough.
@@50FILSWILD this aged well bahahahaha

People please, stop being biased on a car because of the Country it came from. True car enthusiast love all cars no matter where they come from. All of these cars are better than taking the bus like most of you argumentative children do.
Exoticars19 I love any car that looks good and goes fast!
lancaster13secfbody Amen to that!
Exoticars19 they can't compete with the US in anything else, so they run their mouths about everything they can, even if the thing is completely irrelevant.
And thats y ur a lambo fan understeering pig
Actually this corvette isnt made of plastic. It's made of aluminum and carbon fiber.
***** I thought the regular C7 had plastic, and the Z06 was going to have some CF.
Incredible.
Well said.
America is on a completely different level.
Imagine getting this car for 32000 pounds and you see why Americans are so excited about it.
did you see see the interior, it was the highest spec, not the base
fikes73 No that's the way they all come sans infotainment center bullshit and the Z51 package is a $2,500 upgrade over here...which is phenomenal for what you get!
I'd even take a C6 over these other cars. If Europeans can't appreciate an awesome car, it's their loss.
Dude what? The C6 was a maniac.
Now you've lost the plot mate
Enjoy your new car!
yay! well done you..happy motoring!
Steve sutcliffe & chris harris are the best auto journalist, they are not biased, honest opinions and true racers, not like the three clowns from top gear.
yeah,? so then why does the range rover always win?
I like Chris Harris, but I do feel hes a bit bias toward Porsche and Ferrari.

C7!!! ©rv74
I don't mean to be that guys that says "could you do a numbers review" but... could you do a numbers review?
Ethanmeister
Chris Harris followers are crying.
Another Euro. magazine, Motorsport has done the numbers: auC4DAruZG0
Circuit: Magny Cours Club
911 Turbo s : 1'20.77
C7: 1'21.72
R8 V10: 1'22.58
911 C4S: 1'22.98
Amit Das Indeed, the real clever people drive cars for a weekend (if they can) then buy one, I hardly ever pay attention to these magazines anymore, they are just another form of advertising.
But I wanted Chris Harris to say this!
American has won me on this one, especially for that price!.
in reality the corvette shouldn't even be in the same category as the other cars, the other cars should way out perform the corvette, but the fact is they don't, and for the price difference who wouldn't want the vette. its a budget supercar, don't get me wrong its a high budget but compared to, I think I made my point
Not really. What's your point?
That its A budget high performance car compared to the price on the others in the video. Even though its price is high also, its half of what the others are but performance wise as good, that's my point, made it clear the first time
Exactly!
I'm from the UK and i think that this car is bloody brilliant (sips cup of tea).
It's all fun and games till someone says something nice about an American car, then shit starts to go down.
The people of Europe don't hate American cars, we simply don't care about them (mostly because none of them are sold here).
Malc180s
I see your point...except American cars ARE sold in Europe. European auto journalists even review American cars that are not exported to Europe. And it's not just American cars. Top Gear has tried to shit all over Asian cars that, like the Corvette and Ford GT, trump Europe's finest.
Mzn T
For someone who reviews cars and then makes up the legendary bullshit of trying to give European automakers credit where it is not due (saying Lotus helped with the Ford GT and Nissan GT-R, for example) there can be no excuses...
Average Corvette owner is 50+, overweight and balding, reliving his childhood behind the wheel of his fantasy car.
Leonidae The same can be said for Porsche owners, Jaguar owners, and anyone willing to drop 150K on an Audi. They're all old man, midlife crisis mobiles. Even rich parents won't let their kid go and buy a $150K supercar. Get your head out of your ass.
Leonidae
There's a lot of bitter butthurt in the tone of your post, likely derived from reading pm512's dose of truth.
Funny thing is: I have yet to see the C7 on Top Gear (UK that is), which makes sense because the guys won't review a legitamite American car. Every time they review an American Car on Top Gear, it is the lowest end model and they always say bad things about it.
I see your point, i was very happy on his review on the 2014 Mustang GT500, but in past times, the reviews haven't been too well.
American muscle just doesn't have a global appeal...
nelson wong you are exactly right. People don't understand the beauty of the car, especially the new one with its cornering powers.
If ever...
Those European cars cost as much as the new C7 Z06 coming out soon.
oh boy, not even gonna look at the comments on this one, it's gonna get all kindsa messy down there
What I like about the Vette too is you can actually live with it and DD it on a daily basis and take it to track on the weekend. It's far more reliable than any of those European cars and the parts are cheaper too.
Want to see the C7 Z06 comparison.
Well this is one good way to get the haters to crawl out from under their rock..
Exactly!
I hadn't noticed that but you're absolutely right, you'd think somebody from their staff would have noticed, at least switch lanes and do the test a few times.
thats what i was thinking but i figured they had to let the Porsche win at someting right?? lol jk
I noticed the same thing.
interior vs the rest!?!?!? miles better than the last gen but vs, the jag, porsche, and audi??? i'd say still a distant 4th place no?
Actually most reviews place it ahead of the Jag.
The Corvette is and will remain the #1 sports car. Check the numbers
***** agreed. People forget the 200k difference in price so often which is dumb
Why wasn't the Porsche in the handling test?... And why was it in the speed test?...
Because
I'm not big fan of corvette but this one it's just amazing I love it , you can't buy a sport car with 60k , Chevrolet did it
hello, American here. sorry Europeans, your shit sounding "burbling" v8s can never sound as amazing as that refined and symphonious LT-1 "snarl." it's just amazing.
+Andrew Davison Another American here. I personally liked the burble better.
They both sound badass, there is nothing to dislike about either of their exhaust notes.
American here, Love the burble!
Jaguar F-Type R. But I do love the Corvette
+Ben Daulton I belive the engine of the range rover is near identical but the Jaguar is heavily modified
I will be getting a Z06 in a few years and cherish it as if it were a Ferrari!
most euro programs put down american cars, well in us it starts at $52,000...short story there's nothing like it for your $.
USA!
Why was the Porsche in the drag race and not the Audi or Jag? They are both quicker in a straight line
GT7786 that car is going to be a beast...
That interior looks very nice. Well done GM, and its about time.
The best Europe has to offer? Oh ok then. I didn't know so many makers had stopped producing cars in the last few days.
The drift at 2:11 was way too easy...
These guys produce the best car reviews all the time - Thanks!
I love how they compare the sound of the cars! very juvenile, but i do care a lot about the sound
I love C7 vs. videos!
Very nice review, the comparisons were quite creative and fresh! Kuddos guys!
I loved my Vettes. I threw a Carol stage 6 supercharger on one of my Z06. It was the wildest ride ever. Still my favorite of all my cars though was my Porsche 911 turbo.
My fav ride so far is my 458 Speciale. Even better than my old Gt2 and my old Gallardo Superleggera.
jesus, Dell, you gotta give me a ride in your vette!
Why does it have paddles behind the steering wheel if it's a manual? :s
Could they not afford to design 2 steering wheels?
The "paddles" is for the rev match feature. You use the paddles to turn it on or off.
***** man if you can explain to me what is rev match feature is? i really appreciate that:)
David MuscleGuy
When you downshift it blips the throutle a bit. Basically it's an automatic heel and toe.
Ulisses Costa I dont like the fact that those are misleading
It's not about what GM can "afford"; it's about what the customers can afford. Designing a separate wheel for manual and automatic cars would do nothing but increase production costs, and that increase would be passed onto buyers. By doing it this way, GM saves a few bucks with every 'Vette made, and the more they save in production, the more features they can offer elsewhere without hiking up the price.
If only the Corvette were cheaper for Europeans. The Brits pay more in pounds than we pay USD.
It's a manual car but at 1:51 are they paddles I can see behind the steering wheel?
They use the paddles to activate rev matching .
really? I thought that's what the clutch and throttle were for.
/Dream Car Garage 1 (DCG1)
It's active rev matching. The computer matches the revs for you on downshifts.
***** Wow, OK. You learn something new everyday. Thanks
No problem. It really is an exciting car in every way.
Gawd, it pains me to say it but' "Well done GM."
Do love the Jag though, especially the sound. But just not worth the asking here in Canada I'm afraid.
The coupe is cheaper, but for the price of a base V6 Jag you could get a Z51 optioned to the max.
That is true. Just wish the C7 looked prettier. So far Black and Grey work best, hiding the busy-ness of all the black vent work.
I initially hated the C7 seeing it at last year's Woodward Cruise, but it's grown on me tremendously over the past few months. I'd now even take it on aesthetics alone.
great review!!!
4:43 - Really? It's a draw, the corvette has an actually sound, that jaguar just has a "Shhhhiiitiitiititiiiit" noise you can barely hear with head phones and the volume all the way up.
Red Winter
Im sorry I just don't understand how you can hear that, it barley makes a noise even when he down shifts.
Ahhh c'mon, I can agree on the C7 having the most throaty and pure sound but the Jaguar has a sweet sound too, if you hear it between buildings it will blow your ears out, trust me :)
do you get up and turn the sound off when the Jag comes along, either that or you have hearing difficulties
I admit .. this is the best of autocar show I have seen, they seam fair
Let me find out 569 of those dislikes come from audio owners , and that 1 dislike from Porsche lol ! American muscle baby !!!!
murica
+trav2404 America**
Jinsun202 911S = 286hp/tonne & 233 lb ft/tonne; C7 = 294hp/tonne & 291 lb ft/tonne. Idiot
Jinsun202 By your logic a Veyron race would be biased towards the Corvette as long as it's the base model Veyron. You're an idiot.
Finally an unbiased test! Every one of these cars are awesome! I want a Corvette and a Porsche, and a Audi, and a Jaguar!!!! :-)
"The European car is a tad better than the Corvette, but heck, let's call it a draw!"
Though to be fair, the nature of this video caters to the Corvette's strengths, while the nature of the videos from Drive and MT caters to the European cars' strengths.
Drive also had the hideous slushbox and not the 7 speed.
bikee4 That's not what I meant by Drive catering to European cars, lol.
bikee4 Which part was condescending? I said "that's not what I meant". You must not interact with people very often if that's condescending to you
Well.. the grass always looks greener on the other side.
thank you autocar for recognizing and realizing. real heads
American Muscle baby !!! still I love the Audi as well
ANGRY EUROS INBOUND! America makes a great car with the luxury of a 60k car and the performance of a 100k car...but with a 60k price tag, why are you Euroboys mad that we can compete?
I'm from Europe and I totally agree with you.
You can buy all you want from Chevy Germany..
grabir01
Found them in Sweden, too! The price is 105 000 $.
wtf lol notice how in the braking test against the porsche the corvette is in the wet part of the road and the 911 isnt ... mmm pretty bs if you ask me
The Vette won, deal with it fanboys.
Not only am I a Corvette fan, but I'm a 2017 Corvette Stingray Z51 with manual transmission owner!!!
I simply Love it!!!!
One of my very favorite 2014 corvette videos. Y'all did a great job.
6.2L V8 and all they can screw out of it is 460HP.
How convenient of you to ignore the torque number too.
Light Yagami True, but you're always going to get a shed-load of torque from a big engine.
oh shut up. it's not the best number you can get from this engine, and what other engine of this size do you know of that can get 30 mpg highway?
also, the c63 amg has the exact same engine size and roughly the same power output, so think it through before you go bashing american engineering just because of some stupid elitist British ideology about the rest of the world.
JonM90 Well that's mostly why they do it... That's like saying... ah, forget it.
It also has cylinder deactivation and better mileage than the LESS powerful 911 also if its power you want you can get the "mid range" Z06 with 630 bhp and 650 lb feet of torque and a transmission that was developed to be quicker not only than the ZF 8 speed but also the Porsche PDK and at the same price of the other three here and faster than ANYTHING the top models of the Europeans (save their million dollar hypercars) and after that there will be the ZR1 in 750 bhp area for less money than the OPTIONS list of the 911
why u dint include da GT-R?
.
well if u did, da result would be like this >>> (Asia 10) - (USA 1) - (Europe 0)
Well ya, it´s a fast car but not as funn, that´s why...
because this is Autocar man they test true sports cars not boy racers!
Sanjay Saini Whoa whoa whoa... Hold the horses...
Sunedosa I'm not a GT-R fanboy but you should admit that the GT-R is fast!
jaguar needs to patent their exhaust system and sell it to other manufacturers
Here's the recipe, I work at jag ;)
Results: Quite worth the $
I think the Corvette will be cheaper and more reliable to run in the long term.
Deo Heerai GT2RS? You sure?
Deo Heerai for those who can buy a car in that class, money isn't that much of a factor, they just want what bests suits them, and the few of those who REALY know cars, Porsche is simply the closest to perfection ya can get periot ! the base vette (outside usa) will mostly be bought by the workingclass guy who has no wife or child to take in account 8) yes i admit, Ami cars realy caught-up they're 10y backlog in the past 2y, but like BMW ya don't get rid of that macho image that eazy, and look at BMW now, they became ugly as hell because of it xD
Iris C
The price is not the main point .
*****
I think the point was the 911 had optional brakes, where the Corvette had base (I don't know if this was a Z51 equipped).
Carbon Ceramic brakes DO NOT improve braking power. They increase the operating temperatures and upper limit at which fade is realized.
It was only a matter of time till the Yanks caught up with the rest of the world and produced similar cars for much cheaper due to econmics, dynamics of the country, population it was always going to happen
supaahflyy Done by Chevrolet. Runs Deep.
2015 father's day present,got it one month ago,happy man here,gracias Monica
Great vid! Nice editing and narration. KUDOS on the cam from behind driver! Loved to look at that sweet interior and drifting from that angle. Seldom done in any other vids.
vette is one hell of a car
+Diana Chernyadyeva for decades
The problem is you didn't put it against Europe's best because lets face it they are the 458 and the MP12
However the 458 and the Mp4-12c are each 3 times the price of the corvette.
price wise yes, but power and performance puts it in direct comparison with those cars
No arguing the 458 and 12C will outperform a C7, but they each have at least 100 hp more than the corvette and cost five times the price in the states. That doesn't equate to an equal comparison.
Paul Hennessey Power looks good in magazines. That's it. It's not about how much of it you have, it's about what you can do with it.
Wow, that F-Type sounds Amazing !.
And the Audi and Porsche and Corvette too
Damn imagine what the 2015 Z06 will do
The corvette, f type and r8 are all my favourite, the 911 has some styling issues, I think.
I think the problem may have been that it wasn't styled at all.
long live the vette!!!
This Stingray is a seriously good looking car and handles well too. Those slides are amazing and it sounds awesome as well.
Never liked the old corvettes, but the new Stingray has one of the most elegant designs I've seen. I feel like the design is a blend of every high end grand touring cars out there. Just beautiful.
wow, that was a boring review about exciting cars
How can it be draw if he said R8 is faster and handle better?
He said the Corvette is more fun to drive. That counts for something right?
It was wet so rwd is somewhat handicapped, + you have to take into account if the $30k+ increase in price is worth "a tad bit faster"
Europe's most comparable cars money,hp, and Tq specs, 2 seater power to weight ratios
Interestingly enough, Europe's "budget supercars" still cost thousands more than the Vette and still have similar performance.
if audi was V10, it would be Viper vs audi :D
I'm not a Chevy fan but I'd say dollar for dollar the Corvette can beat most Euro cars for the price alone.
Corvette C7- 52k
r8 v10,ferrari,mclaren ect. 160,000+
wait until big daddy comes you all are going to shit yourselves
Corvette Z06
When will it be available in right-hand drive?
I just bought a 2015 c7 I use to drive Porsche's I could never imagine how fast and confortable my car is, I love it!
C7 sounds a bit more REAL then the Ftype
