I was Technical Director for the Beluga XL, so I can confirm it's based on an A330, 1.5m wider and 6m longer than the Beluga ST - to allow transport of pairs of A350 wings. It is powered by RR Trent 700 engines and we did not build anything bigger based on A380 as the Beluga XL is the biggest aircraft we can operate in Broughton and Bremen. A beautiful beast 👍
isnt that a project from the early 2000's i remember reading about A330ST and the proposed A340ST variant or they were both considered as a starting point at one time ? before XL ?
@@birdwithoutwings6858 yea. Airbus had to put their factories in multiple countries for funding so without the supper guppy they wouldn’t be able to move all the parts to one place
I've said it before on this channel seeing a Beluga being unloaded in real life is the most awe inspiring sight I've ever had the privilege to witness. I'm looking forward to seeing the BelugaXL.
Congratulations to the engineering and marketing teams of Airbus! What a fantastic family of planes. Congratulation to the person that chose the background song that starts at 2:12. It is so motivating. That, coupled with the excellent video editing brought a tear to my eyes.
awesome it flies so low coming into Broughton that when i'm on a dog walk I feel like i could reach out and touch it. Can't wait to see the new one. Graceful in the air even if it has eaten all the pies
Next up, since the A380 is retiring and being scrapped. The Airbus A380-800 Beluga Colossal. The second deck is replaced by a big compartment that takes up the whole length of the aircraft. The cockpit is modified and lowered to make space for the Cargo Door. The current engines would be too weak for the plane, so strap on 4 GE9X's on there. The wings would be lifted by a few meters to accommodate the GE9X Engines. It's a silly idea, and I don't even think that it would physically work.
darn, what an amazing manufacturer. not only do you support boeing, you even used their planes. that's what i call true competition. that's also what i call A GOOD COMPANY.
Kudos to both Airbus and Boeing! I didn't know Boeing helped Airbus to rise! Without you two (and all of the others ie. Embraer, Bombardier, Antonov) flying would've been completely different. Thanks!
The A380 wont be stable without its middle Deck so you cant remove that Like in a 747 .So its Not useful as a freighter for high dimension Cargo. You would have two seperated Cargo Decks with a "wall" in between.
Well you could use it For a Lot small Cargo such as packages... But The Market for such a huge plane which is Not able to carry high dimension Cargo isnt there. 747-8F fits The needs.
Nice and if airbus is concerned about Nox emissions they should have adapted the GE CF-6 E1A4 since it has lower Nox than the Trent 700 which would power this Beluga XL. Nox Emissions for both CF-6E1A4 and Trent 700 is taken from the ICAO emissions databank. Another use for the Beluga XL is transporting ISS components just like the Original Beluga for ESA
Beautiful aircraft. People say beluga planes are ugly but don't see the beauty in her. She Flys to ship plane parts to build A airbus aircraft of tomarrow.
Etrangement beau. Je me demandais si la soute de ces avions est pressurisée ? Strangely beautiful. I was wondering if the hold of these planes is pressurized?
Its because the 747 and 757 became a thing and took over the market. Why else was the Airbus a380 made? To have a larger plane than Boeing has. I bet there will be outrage when the Boeing 797 comes out and again takes over the market as it will be a newer 757. After that Airbus has to improve the a350 or a320 to match it and make better models. Its a never ending cycle.

Cousin James Where's the A340 NEO
With 2 GE 9X
they canceled the a340 long ago, due to fuel efficiency issues.
Why do you use the A330 as a base rather than the newer A350?
Wow a beluga plane transporting beluga parts
Daniel Dankers lol that's what I thought
Daniel Dankers hahaha that's weird but cool
Daniel Dankers more likely:
yo dawg,I know you're fan of Beluga,so you put Beluga XL parts, inside Beluga
Najmi Jailani So you can fly the beluga while you fly the beluga
cant wait to see her flying :D
Kind of ironic that the beluga is transporting the parts for its replacement.
I think the Super Guppy itself transported beluga parts
The Supper Guppy was actually a Boeing plane
@@TysonIke late reply, ik. But doesnt that mean Boeing is part of the reason why airbus succeeded?
@@birdwithoutwings6858 yea. Airbus had to put their factories in multiple countries for funding so without the supper guppy they wouldn’t be able to move all the parts to one place
It’s not the replacement
The beluga birthed the new beluga, that means the beluga is the belugaXL's mother
Jaden Desveaux lmao can't argue with that logic
is the father the a380?
420apache657
no the a330 is the father just like the a300 is the father of the Old beluga !
420apache657 no it's The Super Guppy
The super guppy is the grandma of the belugaxl
I remember the first time I saw the Beluga. Such a unique aircraft. Can't wait to see the BelugaXL :)
Me too, indeed!
FlyHigh Aviation me three indeed
It feels quite unreal the first time you see it !
I can't imagine it...seems to be amazing!
Another awesome video Airbus! Hats off to your video team, the production is really well done and the videos are a joy to watch.
Beluga is in my bucket list, i wanted see it up close before me leave from here,
i think Beluga is the most beautiful aircraft ever made :)
Beluga carrying a Beluga. Awesome! Can't wait to see the final product!
I've said it before on this channel seeing a Beluga being unloaded in real life is the most awe inspiring sight I've ever had the privilege to witness. I'm looking forward to seeing the BelugaXL.
Airbus...Always innovating!
Respect to Airbus, they not only thriving in the industry but also never ashame to admit they were once relying on their rival.
A Genius designer: putting a smile and a Whale eye ;makes the difference on a modified A330 to a beautiful beluga
What a great video, I love your editing style :) I can´t wait to see it flying :)
he didnt edit it, it was someone from airbus lol
Malte Spielt well, this is the official Airbus channel
Planespotting HAJ then just scroll forward the vid and you will se it fly😉
love AIRBUS! what a success story. AIRBUS FOREVER
Congratulations to the engineering and marketing teams of Airbus! What a fantastic family of planes.

Absolutely great Airbus!!!
Keep going!
Biggest fan of airbus
Airbus you are the best in the world I love you so much !
Andrew Anane i see you in almost every video😃

Russell Goh really...

I thought this was a joke to begin with, thought the start was CGI! I've never seen these planes before. Their amazing!
Merci, AIRBUS, pour cette excellente vidéo. J'ai hâte de voir passer devant ma fenêtre le Beluga XL. ( J'habite à côté du lieu de sa construction)...
that's some beautiful engineering right there
I’ve seen this plane before,I saw it land it was terrific so big!
BELUGACEPTION
After beluga a320 version is beluga xl the a330 version next to that is beluga xxl the a380 version.
Il va être magnifique le Beluga XL
Kudos to both Airbus and Boeing! I didn't know Boeing helped Airbus to rise! Without you two (and all of the others ie. Embraer, Bombardier, Antonov) flying would've been completely different. Thanks!
why dont they just turn an a380 into a beluga?
kenneeeh! middle Deck
ahh okay, still could be something we see in the future though
The A380 wont be stable without its middle Deck so you cant remove that Like in a 747 .So its Not useful as a freighter for high dimension Cargo. You would have two seperated Cargo Decks with a "wall" in between.

It just looks like dolphin. Good aircraft.
woderful aircraft its just perfect thumbs up
"Marked it's History in the human hearts ever"
Who wants to see boeing and airbus work together to make one plane.
A Beluga XL inside a Beluga! Planeception!
Lol I like how ironic it is with the BelugaXL parts being delivered in the original BelugaB A300

Magnificent=AIRBUS
Vive la France et l'europe.
I still can’t believe that this huge plane has only two engines to fly with
Like whatttttttttt😳😳☺️🧐🤪
Both Boeing and Airbus are amazing
But I like Airbus more
*A Beluga inside another Beluga....* seems legit 😂
The A300 was the base for the Beluga.
Is the new Beluga XL based on the A330 ?
911gpd yes it is.... based on the A330
Yes. on the A330-200F, I think...
No no no it based on a330 300F
We are having an Allen invasion with those Airbus beluga.
Guys, pls. can you stop being awesome.
Bravo! Yet another astonishing plane. Good job Airbus.
Beluga inside a beluga 😂
4:30 you misspelled LENGTH :)
still a great video!
its the french haha
mm nope
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
nice to see, Boeing and Airbus helping ourselves :)
Rolls Royce and Airbus: Perfect match!
Once again Airbus is back at it with its new breakthroughs
Love the color of the lights
wow airbus u are good on that u took the a330 wing tip and the beluga nice build somthing impressive.
both beauty and the beast together as beluga
Beautiful aircraft. People say beluga planes are ugly but don't see the beauty in her. She Flys to ship plane parts to build A airbus aircraft of tomarrow.
I wish Boeing and Airbus could be nice to each other ( and their fans )
WoW
I loves airbus
Will it be able to transport A380 parts?
Yes cause hE Said only the Parts not the Full assembled Airbus A-380
Etrangement beau. Je me demandais si la soute de ces avions est pressurisée ?
Strangely beautiful. I was wondering if the hold of these planes is pressurized?
awesome project! :D
You are super exact for this. Love airbus
love Airbus forever
The Beluga XL will be amazing to see! Perhaps it will fly to the US?
1:08 Respect for both Boeing and Airbus
Thank you Airbus!
I was really hoping the beluga XL would inherit the A330 Neo's winglets! Still, I can't wait to see this impressive bird in the air!
@Airbus, what are songs is used in this video?
M8. BelugaXL's wing is flexible than my toungue.
Can't wait to see it in the sky !
GOOD WORK!
airbus u are awsome i love all your planes especially the a319-111
Imagine a Beluga based on an A380. I heard that the XL is A330 based which will still be awesome though.
when a beluga carrying the part of itself :v
Ok so how does the beluga fit the beluga-XL. especially the fuselage.
I didn't even knew that was a thing, not the beluga but the olden day one, hmm lol
Simply pure amazement.
Congratulations!🎉🍾🎊🎈
Out of curiosity, could this be used as a passenger aircraft when the A380 and B747 are being used for similar purposes?
now add them sunshades
I just think my part only, but the way,at ground team, they know what best to the future.
Ooh, maybe now some leaks on the Beluga XXL?
-Hey, when are you going to give money to your son?
-when whales fly!
-look at this: Airbus Beluga
My question is, what do not take the A380's improvment to make the new Beluga XL?
Airbus Forever...
Isn’t it funny that the original beluga (Airbus skylink) was a Boeing 337 super guppy
the Megamind of transporters
Incredible and possible!!
Delivering parts of BelugaXL using regular Belugas
Babies making the Boss
I saw the Bulga airbus 2 days ago in toulouse because I was coming home from my holidays
Great innovation, 109 dislikes from Boeing fans I presume.
ok überzeugt, ich nehm einen! gibt es Ratenzahlung?
Do these planes fly empty half the time? Or do they send other cargo when it goes somewhere to bring its own cargo?
Doesn't need to look good to be awesome!
at least it wasn't filmed in portrait mode
every day thousands of planes take off and land this plane is going to join them soon ;))
Is it based on the a330-200 length or the 300s?
Is it controlled with a yoke?
The Beluga is an A300, she uses A300 cockpit and controls
The Beluga XL is an A330, she uses A330 cockpit and controls.
Nothing less, nothing more.
How sad for the present Belugas to transport what one day will replace them, even though it's somewhat inevitable.
great project! beautiful video! does anyone know the song playing at 2:15?
I wonder how big a Beluga XXL would be if it was based on the A380. That would be massive
About the part "A Boeing supporting a Airbus takeoff"
I still don't know why Boeing and Airbus fanboys talks shit!
Yeah, I mean I like both but why can't fanboys get along?
I'm a Boeing Fanboy, but i think that it is fantastic!

Well it's like how Microsoft helped Jobs save Apple back in the day.
