  • I recently watched the Netflix series Dragon Age Absolution, which has some fairly huge revelations regarding the Dragon Age universe. Here is a spolilerisch discussion of its relevance for Dragon Age going forward.

As far as timeline the girl says "the inquisition gave me on last mission before it broke up" so its definitely after trespasser

So glad to see Dragon Age content. The qunari steals the show imo, please make her a playable companion in DA4. This show took me two attempts to realize what all was going on, I rewatched episode 1 after finishing episode 2 and it was worth it. I cared more about the characters, as you stated character development was jumpy. However, totally worth a watch; got a lot of The Legend of Vox Machina vibes from the animation and voice acting. I also enjoyed that this animated series did not shy away from very violent scenes. Lastly, best mic drop for a complaining party member: Watch your mouth dwarf, increase your stride and shut the F*** up.

Personally I enjoyed it, it felt like one long dragon age cutscene but in a good way. So nostalgic too

Why is character development a talking point when it was only 6esp and the event only happened within 1-2days. I didn't expect character development here which makes sense. My opinion though.

During Here Lies The Abyss, you can actually find in the Face a big chunk of red lyrium and you can inspect it and unlock a new codex entry that it’s basically a long poem that some in the community believe to be the thoughts of the Titans.
And yeah, this series was enjoyable to watch but not perfect, let’s hope they make it better in the next season (:

Also if Leliana dies in Origins her spirit is kept in lyrium and given a body by the Titans to help close the veil. Perhaps the next stage of the Blight is failed villains, gods and npcs given super bodies by a tainted Titan?

Seems like an odd miss that in DAI there is no meaningful concern with red lyrium infecting the world. It's like the murder of all the tranquils that no one would acknowledge. I thought DAI was the weakest writing of the three games IMO.
Agree good not great but great to see DA content especially Tevintor. Definitely needed a few more episodes for character and story development.
Hira seems DAI rebel mage and DA2 Orsino dumb trusting the venatori allies the red templars to destroy tevinter and the venatori. Also dumb like the greyspawn in DAI.

I thought this cartoon by BioWare was an extreme letdown for me as the animation was pretty decent but not up to par and was cheap, which is pretty shocking considering EA and BioWare have millions upon Millions upon Millions to spend. A company like Vox Machina cartoons way better animation and way better storyline. BioWare has definitely gone downhill since the beginning of their Dragon Age Origins video game series the only one I consider really great was BioWare Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age Awakening. The second Dragon Age video game and Inquisition were pretty much despicable in gameplay. The stories were basically decent. The characters were all right. Still, the gameplay was just despicable. It's sad because the lore is there, and it's quite good, but it could be way better.

There was a seriously lack of character development among a variety of other things. It's definitely not a six. Of course, that being said there were some interesting details and the fights were surely flashy and somewhat neat but overall it was hard to stomach. I'd say its one of the more cringe shows I've seen lately.

Not sure how it was cringe. And how much character development were you expecting in a 20 minute 6 episode show? The show was fine, even enjoyable

Still better than Elder Scrolls, with each game since Morrowind the games ended up with having no rpg elements. And in Witcher 3 you only play as Geralt, and not only that, you also exclusively play as a typical spellsword with signs and alchemy.

The Anime/Asian influence that is seeping in upon the art styles of Western dark medieval fantasy, d&d included, is personally bugging me lol. I am seeing it more and more be it this show or Vox machina or aspects of BG3 or even Dragon Age inquisition with Cole for example.. don't get me wrong, I've watched a view anime movies and they're good - princess monoke and those sorts, visually beautiful but... anime belongs where it is. There have been far too many morons of the last 15 years, into art and design, heavily influenced by what is really just, let's face it, 'candyfloss art' - art for dough brains. It's what Barbie and Ken are to dolls. Some how it's been propped up to be great but it isn't. The simspons art style has as much depth to it.
I really feel it has no place in the western dark medieval fantasy genre other than fanfiction from specific types and well... enough said there.

Fair. The problem is that Korean animators tend to be the most competent these days.

    • @xeniousthe2nd432
      @xeniousthe2nd432 Год назад +1

@stefdelev 😮 oh gosh, I don't like asian/anime style art in my dark medieval western fantasy - I must he elitist. Or perhaps I appreciate it for what it is and where it belongs 🤔 putting it down to either those westerners who are obsessed wannabe Asian, playdough heads, who've replaced their Disney psychosis with Anime Psychosis or, those who got mesmerised by the big eyes and bouncy tetas and wouldn't stop drawing anime whilst the art teachers tried teaching them some real art.
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the art style, it just doesn't belong in western fantasy.
You're the type to use words like elitist (wrongly I may add) so let's call it 'cultural appropriation, shall we? :)
It's a plague that infested the minds of my generation and the generations of today 15 - 21.. probably even younger although I've yet to see my 8 year old daughter or 10 year old cousin take an interest. Thank the gods! So hopefully the buck stops at them.
You can see these types of moron influences in other things from other places. There's been many a singer I've met (IRL) who have been clearly influenced by Disney singing in the way they sing lol and well, I am Irish, so when hearing an Irish Traditional song sung like fecking Anna/Elsa from Frozen... you gotta Bury your head in your hands and wait for it to be over. Victims is all... neural typicals, that's the word, isn't precious :)
      Anyway stfu

This comment is very short sighted I promised you people for years have been inspired by foreign styles and you didn't care. Heck a lot of anime also has wester influence. One of the most popular wester fantasy game series dark souls/elden ring are made by a japanese studio imagine if someone was like these games bother me cause they have western influences. Calling someone a moron because they are inspired by what speaks to them is probably the most moronic thing someone can do
