Leliana's "collateral damage" reason does make perfect sense, even if they, at their peak, can take on Tevinter, did Hira expect Tevinter to just roll over? The bloodshed will be overwhelming if 2 such powerful forces clash and all because of what? Hira's personal vendetta against the Venatori?
Even the excuse that she isn't the only one who suffered doesn't hold a candle to the millions who would die needlessly on both sides just for a smaller than Tevinter group of rogue bloodmages that can sway powerful allies into their fold. And they are a small cult, but look at what even smaller groups of them could do to both Ferelden and Orlais.
Well Hira can stop bitching now. We're going to Tevinter. And guess what, we getting our asses handed to us on golden platters that float with levitation magic. And old gods are there too. Hope she's happy that pur intervention caused a catastrophe.
Hira is giving off some Calperina vibes. Both of them hate Tevinter and both are willing to go to extremes to achieve their goals. Calperina was gonna be made into a vessel for Corypheus. Wonder if Hira’s deal with crimson knight will be her undoing.
Only instead of improving Tevinter she wants to destroy it, Calperina was born in a low status and wanted to improve the place in the country that treated her unfairly while Hira was born in a high status but wants to destroy her native country because of her suffering (ironically she is partly responsible for Hira's actions) Unfortunately Hira doesn't seem to understand the hatred that Meredith and the Red Templar have for all mages.
I don’t believe that Meredith would even be willing to work with hira if she knew she was a mage and from a high status family of tevinter for that matter.
My response to the inquisition * You guys literally took down a whole demon army that infected the world and nearly turned the world into an Apokolypse. Directors:😪we forgot
I got a feeling that the person Fenris mentioned in Dragon Age 2 who tried to outlaw slavery could be Hira's father. The archon he mentioned could have been the one responsinle to stop the outlaw of slavery. It seems interconnected that this show picks up from Dragon Age 2 to Inquisition which means it could be one of the possibility we will see references or returning characters from video game to the anime.
The show's timeline is after Trespasser. I'm not trying to "correct" anyone to be a jerk. I've seen a lot of people unsure of when the show takes place. If it were me, I would want to know. That theory about the person Fenris mentioned in DA:2 is interesting. I had forgotten that conversation.
Disbanded describes all endings for Trespasser the best. Even if you didn't disbanded it, it still does. It loses it's freedom, sacrifices power and people who where disappointed with the church won't stay. It's political independency is gone too and now is just an extended arm of the church.
It's very interesting seeing Hira's take on the Inquisition - *MY* Inquisition, at least so far as I perceive it. There's so much more that could have been done, but everyone has limits...
Even at the absolute height of its power, with the political support of both Orlais and Ferelden, the Inquisition would *never* declare war on Tevinter The first being that they would drag both Orlais and Ferelden into it, who would look bad by association. This would at best lead to them abandoning the Inqusition or at worst them being declared enemies of both. The second being that the Inqusition actually had *allies* in and from Tevinter who weren't fond of the Venatori either. Dorian is just the most prominent example. So no matter how you slice it, what she was asking for was downright unreasonable
[Spoilers] So what she just expected the Inquisition to lead an entire purge on Tevinter and when she didn’t get what she wanted she went to the “Crimson Knight”? The same “Crimson Knight” who referred to magic and all those who are born with it as and I quote, “a cancer thrust upon the land, that must be cleansed in flame”? Seriously I know Hira’s vengeance driven and all, but just how stupid is this woman?
What's worse is that it wasnt even all of Tevinter. It was a Cult following Cory made up of Tevinter extremists. Fuck I look like waging war against a whole country over a group that's considered a terrorist organization? Then we would have had 2 enemies to fight instead of just one. Bih didnt even have the whole picture. This is why I'm Inquisitor and you're not. She's fucking dumb.
To be fair Calperina joined forces with Corypeus to free the slaves of Tevinter not knowing she would eventually be made into Corypeus vessel and be striped of her free will.
@@bearerofbadnews1375 Corypheus had the goal of making Tevinter great again. It makes sense why Calpernia would be at his side. Meredith's goal, however, is to kill every single mage out there. Hira us stupid enough to believe she will be an exception.
Every ambitious type in Tevinter dreams of what's better for Tevinter. "Because everyone agrees on what 'better' is?" As Cassandra once said. Hira is hardly any different. Like another Calpernia. Trying to go to extremes but doesn't see the harm that it'll do. Young and naive, ideas of vengeance still fresh in her mind. She simply hasn't experienced the consequences for herself.
0:48 one we tried that and we crippled them . Two you try balancing two massive empires that either want to puppet you or dissolve you my Inquisitor was just barely able to incorporate the remnants of the Inquisition into the chantry I was in no position to launch any kind of expedition into tevinter
I wish there was a f*ck off option during trespasser…idgaf if I had to go to war with them to put them in their places and take some of the lands to establish the inquisition county 🤣
Obviously they wouldn’t show the Inquisitor because they look different for everyone who plays the game, but I think it would have been really cool if they put a second shadow on the stairs to hint at their presence. Every action the Inquisition did or didn’t take was made on the word of the Inquisitor, and it seems kind of weird that the war council would be making decisions without their input
They were probably like ok we don't need to let the inquisitor know about this because he will probably do it lol just drop them off with the iron bull and probably a couple others and they will take care of the problem
A fairly decent show, with surprisingly good animation and a nice story that seems to leave interesting plot points for the next Dragon Age game to use...My only big complain is that none of the characters have the accent of their respective countries.
That so called so called "fairly decent show" has a lot of conflicts with the plot and lore in games. So I hope this show would be forgotten in terms of the game lore.
So Hira expected the Inquisition, which accepted all races and creeds, to wipe out Tevinter? Even though the Inquisition accepted HER despite being Tevinter, and also had Dorian there too? And when the Inquisition did not want to destroy Tevinter, Hira went to the red templars, who were commanded by Corypheus, the LEADER of the Venatori that killed her father? Okay. And why did the Inquisition trust Hira after she stormed off like that? Or maybe they didn't trust her, which is why they had Fairbanks stab her (without killing her), but then why even bother with her at all in that case? Or why not send more agents to help Fairbanks?
Speaking of Fairbanks, aside from him acting almost nothing like the Fairbanks we meet in inquisition. I'm most annoyed that they killed him off, because I thought he had some real potential to become a really interesting character from what little we saw from inquisition. And the decision to whether out him as noble or not was an actually interesting and difficult choice to make that could have lead to some really interesting consequences.
Purging the tevinter not a good idea its like Anders, he blew up the chantry, look at the outcome, war between mages and templars got worse, mages being blamed for this
A Mage siding with the crimson knight, yeah that's gonna work out well. I hope there's someone there when Merdeith inevitable betrayes her to tell her I told you so.
Even with the Inquisition at its height of power, the Inquisition didn't have the backing of Fereldan and Orlais. Instead, they were opposed by these two nations. Adding the Tevinter Imperium would have crippled the Inquisition. I don't think my Inky would have liked to cause collateral damage, it's similar to how Anders blew up Kirkwall's Chantry and that made a LOT of people angry.
@@yc_knight6370 The Inquisition DOES need the backing of Orlais and Ferelden. Orlais funds the Inquisition and most of the members of the Inquisition were volunteers from Ferelden.
Enjoyed the show, wished it had more than 6 episodes cause a lot of the plot points felt rushed and had little to no time for most of the other characters to shine.
"Collateral damage"? MATE... as far as I'm concerned my inquisitor (obviously with the help of others) UNWILLINGLY took hold of the mark but sitll managed to destroy a whole demon army, save the empress, kill literally like 11 dragons, kill an old god IN dragon form, kill a darkspawn magister and still managed to take down the quanari threat even with several spies in their organisation AND both orlais and ferelden doubting them. Think of it this way: the inquisition, atleast during tresspasser, was feared by many due to the sheer size of the organisation. So, when they cut size (I kept the inquisition) how the hell do you think that small size of an organisation will be able to take on tevinter? Not only that, but I think they have more pressing matters to attend to... Like an old elven god trying to destroy the world???? They just know they're not stupid to go after the WHOLE of tevinter to route out an otherwise (compared to tevinter) miniscule operation. It makes no sense. And, as Dorian states multiple times, not everyone in Tevinter is "OOO! BLOOD MAGIC... SHINY!!", nor do they all believe that slavery is a good thing. Let the good people of Tevinter fight it, because maybe that way they would be able to show the world that not everyone in Tevinter isnt as bad as they make it out to be (Especially when my inquisitor is with Dorian)
@@varric Yes, I did mean the avvar god - that is what I was referring too. Sorry for not making it clear. Also why the hell did I write so much, am I actually okay?
Going against the whole of the Venatori would've meant going to war with Tevinter probably, which would've been an absolute mess. They are so enmeshed with the high society that knowing who is and who isn't a Venatori would've been very difficult. My Inquisitor has made her fair share of bad choices in the past, and it fits that she wouldn't have mindlessly thrown herself into that because she tries to be better now.
The inquisition has already wiped out half of the Venatori. The ones that are still around are the good ones. Also, the Venatori are not Tevinter main forces
LMFAOLMFAO Maybe not Haven Inquisition but the inquisition at Skyhold plus after the defeat of Cory!! They are most definitely STRONG ENOUGH to take on Tevinter single-handedly! Inquisition was never created to usurp or to conquer. But to protect, after sealing the breaches and destroying Corypheus we kiiiinda had our hands full with searching for Solas and few other things, no wonder we didn't want to bang on Tevinter's doors
was this story takes place after the inquisition kills corypheus? If yes, it just makes sense that they can't make war with Tevinter since they lost a lot of men during the war with cory, plus the inquisition purpose is to close the breach and find the people who created it which is Corypheus, also they are being pressured by Ferelden to disband and Orlais want to control the inquisition which leads to the Divine calls for an exalted council.
Not necessarily. The scene takes place right before the Inquisition disbanded, and Trespasser shows both Cassandra and Leliana in their regular clothes in the closing scene in Haven's basement if the Inquisition disbands. So either one of them could be Divine, just wearing their regular cloths. Or Viv could be Divine.
For the people saying the Inquisition could have defeated Tevinter.....no. The Inquisition, at the height of it's power, had 10.000 members, all of them divided between spies, soldiers, diplomats and workers. Ferelden alone can muster more than 10.000 soldiers, let alone spies. Tevinter is noted among the most powerful nations of Thedas, along with the Qunari and Orlais. On top of that, the Inquisition relied heavily on Orlais and Ferelden for their logistics. The Inquisition is more akin to an organization like the FBI or the CIA than a nation. The HOF by the end of DAO commanded an army with more numbers than the one of the Inquisition to end the Fifth Blight. It was mentioned that the assault against Corypheus forces in the Temple of Mythal took all the of the resources of the Inquisition WHILE Orlais was also assisting them. Neither army would be able to seriously challenge Tevinter.
I've replayed Inquisition enough times that her attitude squicks me because of literally every possible approach the Inquisitor could take. I started DA:A and now I contentedly won't continue it lol.

People don't seem to understand that even Orlais can take on the Inquisition with little to no effort. The Inquisition only has a very few troops compared to the vast standing army of Orlais or even Ferelden. Comparing the Army of the Inquisition to the army of Orlais is like comparing Hospitallers to the kingdom of england or kingdom of france. The Inquisition is an order, not a kingdom, it'll lose a war of attrition against any major powers such as Orlais or Ferelden, never mind the Tevinter who btw are masters of magic and possibly stronger than even of those of the Circle. In terms of anti magic, the Tevinter templars are trained by the best tevinter mages on how to counter magic. So no, I don't think the Inquisition can even stand up to the Tevinter unless Orlais and Ferelden will be assisting.

@@LoganScott1117 the Inquisition has disbanded. The characters in the series say "what's left of the Inquisition" or something similar more than once. @@geekasauruswreks8789 Nah, that is just an asshole marketing choice, I would not make the show because of it. Fucking Corypheus had more good qualities in him than her.
@@mahanonbr8002 Sure. - She is completely amoral, aimless and cruel. She is a criminal, but there is no agenda behind her actions, she does not have a goal with it, she is not even in it for the money. She is not even free, she is working for a really unimpressive gang boss, whose gang she could beat up alone without effort. She is also okay with killing totally regular people doing their jobs, along with enslaved elves (she can't be stupid enough to think they will not die from the bullshit destruction they are pulling). There is absolutely nothing good in her at all (aside from her skills, which are ridiculous to the point she barely struggles against anyone or with any task). She did not even save that kid from torture, and she could effortlessly hide her in the cellar or something. - Her behaviour towards the Magister is absolutely disgusting. He never mistreated her, he never even owned her, showed genuine love towards her, and when she killed her mother and brother, he willingly urged her to flee and save herself. When they meet again, she almost instantly attacks him, and keeps raging against him, without a single valid reason to hate him (there might be some unseen ones, but their only shared memories seem to be happy ones). It is quite something when your antagonist, who is a slaver, a traitor, a necromancer and a murderer can be more positive and relatable than your protagonist. - Her relationship thing was also quite disgusting. Her partner literally sold her back to slavery (which was supposedely her main trauma and biggest fear, which her partner knew) in order to get something for a genocidial cult. For what her partner could know, the Magister could just torture Miriam to death for her mother's death after getting her back, so the "I was going to free you" argument is bullshit. And our MC just shrugged it off like nothing, forgiving her like if she just ate her yoghurt or broke her third favourite glass. Cool, so this is what "free" mains to the writer of this shit. Being in an abusive relationship with a psychopath (though Miriam is probably on the psychopathy scale herself). I could probably go on with minor things, but these are the main points.

Oh, for me there is no doubt, that will be her undoing. I mean, a mage working with red templars ? No way it gonna end well for her.
Only instead of improving Tevinter she wants to destroy it, Calperina was born in a low status and wanted to improve the place in the country that treated her unfairly while Hira was born in a high status but wants to destroy her native country because of her suffering (ironically she is partly responsible for Hira's actions)
Unfortunately Hira doesn't seem to understand the hatred that Meredith and the Red Templar have for all mages.
I don’t believe that Meredith would even be willing to work with hira if she knew she was a mage and from a high status family of tevinter for that matter.

I almost cried when I saw Kirkwall as DA II is my fav DA game, but it was nice to see all the games references.

Even if you didn't disbanded it, it still does. It loses it's freedom, sacrifices power and people who where disappointed with the church won't stay. It's political independency is gone too and now is just an extended arm of the church.
It sounds like Cassandra's voice actor had trouble getting back into character after such a long time.
I love her actress but she seems to lose the accent.

she hits the “murder” very well though. It’s like it gets better as the line goes on lol
It's very interesting seeing Hira's take on the Inquisition - *MY* Inquisition, at least so far as I perceive it. There's so much more that could have been done, but everyone has limits...
Even at the absolute height of its power, with the political support of both Orlais and Ferelden, the Inquisition would *never* declare war on Tevinter
The first being that they would drag both Orlais and Ferelden into it, who would look bad by association.
The Qun probably would’ve allied with the inquisition if the Inquisition decides to take on Tevinter lol
@@yc_knight6370 true , but the Qunari aren't exactly well liked either and are hardly a lesser evil compared to Tevinter

Corypheus had the goal of making Tevinter great again.

Holy moly, seeing Cassandra gave me goosbumps.
Too busy out in the Hinterlands fighting bears and gathering Elfroot
They were probably like ok we don't need to let the inquisitor know about this because he will probably do it lol just drop them off with the iron bull and probably a couple others and they will take care of the problem
A fairly decent show, with surprisingly good animation and a nice story that seems to leave interesting plot points for the next Dragon Age game to use...My only big complain is that none of the characters have the accent of their respective countries.
That so called so called "fairly decent show" has a lot of conflicts with the plot and lore in games. So I hope this show would be forgotten in terms of the game lore.

"You can't imagine what it was like"
*Me with one arm* Oh really.
Agreed I'm scratching my head about that too
FRRRRRR!!!!!!!
Purging the tevinter not a good idea its like Anders, he blew up the chantry, look at the outcome, war between mages and templars got worse, mages being blamed for this
Plus, the Inquisition has allies in Tevinter. Wouldn’t make no sense for the inquisition go knock down Tevinter unless they had gone corrupted.
Plus, even most mages hated Anders for blowing up a chantry.
and for some reason the inquisitor keeps jumping off a 50ft drop.
Well, Josephine DID tell me it was hard to befriend Tevinter so I listened to my girlfriend......

True, but they didn’t need the backing of Fereldan and Orlais tho.
@@yc_knight6370 Indeed they don't. Though it'll be a long and difficult fight fighting on three fronts even for the Inquisition.

The Inquisition DOES need the backing of Orlais and Ferelden.
"kill an old god IN dragon form"
An Avvar God, you mean. The Tevinter Old God was killed by the HoF.
I still would have liked a small cameo of the inquisitor, even just as a shadowy figure sitting on the throne.
Whoever wrote this character never even played Inquisition. They were never strong enough to take on Tevinter singlehandedly.
LMFAOLMFAO Maybe not Haven Inquisition but the inquisition at Skyhold plus after the defeat of Cory!! They are most definitely STRONG ENOUGH to take on Tevinter single-handedly! My wife looking good, like per usual.
was this story takes place after the inquisition kills corypheus? If yes, it just makes sense that they can't make war with Tevinter since they lost a lot of men during the war with cory, plus the inquisition purpose is to close the breach and find the people who created it which is Corypheus, also they are being pressured by Ferelden to disband and Orlais want to control the inquisition which leads to the Divine calls for an exalted council.
Hold on does this imply Viv is Devine because both Cassandra and Lilianna are both still at Skyhold?

@@geekasauruswreks8789 Nah, that is just an asshole marketing choice, I would not make the show because of it. Fucking Corypheus had more good qualities in him than her.
@@nialencapefet5154 Can you say more about your thoughts on the protagonist? I think I can agree on some, but I want to see to make sure.
@@mahanonbr8002 Sure.
- She is completely amoral, aimless and cruel. She is a criminal, but there is no agenda behind her actions, she does not have a goal with it, she is not even in it for the money. She doesn't even care about her fellows, she uses them as bait at the beginning (they are "arrested" off screen, but it is pretty clear they had a 30 meters fall after their rope was cut, so she was probably not counting on their survival).
This anime was an attempt to be Vox Machina, which does not belong in Dragon Age. Because Vox Machina is not Dragon Age. The show was horrific from a story and char. standpoint.
