I'm actually the youngest sibling in my parent's trio of daughters and I relate to this song a lot as well. Sometimes it isn't the order of birth to feel the family pressure.

They really struck gold with Luisa. She’s a great critique of conflict avoidance and absurd expectations, but make her a male character, barely change anything else, and he becomes a competent critique of toxic masculinity. They couldn’t have gone wrong.
The original one gives me the image of an older sister who has to pick up the slack and raise her little sisters because the parents are either neglectful or dead
But this version gives me the image of a father or older brother who has to endure physical or mental suffering just to keep the rest of his family in blissful ignorance

Which.... Is kind of funny when you realize Mirabel's sisters got the arguably most stressful Gifts outside of something like Bruno's: Luisa in being expected to literally lift everything at the drop of a hat, and Isabella being expected to be perfection incarnate due to the beauty of her gift.

As the oldest daughter, I definitely found this song relatable.
So much so, I actually teared up in the theater, while my blood boiled when the grandma appeared on screen.

But you can’t blame abuela. She was going through lots of trauma, obviously doesn’t mean she had to treat her family like that. But I’m glad in the end she realized her mistakes and how her trauma was causing harm to her family. She just needed someone to hold onto and she’s been in her own for so long
I think there was more pressure from Luisa from the community not from Abuela. She is the one that everyone in town asks for help. She's over extended and doesn't want to let down anyone while also being a representative of the family

@SkiggsMoDiggs Yeah, I said that in my previous comment lol. She did cause harm to the family thinking she was doing good and making mirabel feel like she didn't belong within her own family. But, also realize she's been through so much and all she's knows is that being organized and perfect would help her save herself from another tragedy.
As the eldest brother and the middle child (much like Luisa) I feel this song. I'm not physically the strongest (my younger brother is stronger than I am) but I'm the one who has to be the peace keeper. I have to be the one that handles everything. I have to be the one who picks up the pieces. When mom and my older sister fight I have to be the one to be the bridge. I have to be the one to keep the balance and if I ever give anyone bad advice I have to take the blame for the actions they take. I'm not allowed to leave my post or everything will crumble (seriously when I moved out of my mom's house it burned a lot of bridges that I didn't even know I was attached to) I told this to my wife and she said that I don't have to do any of what I do because I'm not Atlas and that I really should take a break once and a while. I said that I just want to keep my family together no matter what happens to me. I have always felt that responsibility.

I hate being the eldest when it comes to situations like this within my family. I learn about a few problems in my family that they refuse to converse and resolve about, especially with the tension between my sister and my mom. I just wanted people to get along without having a grudge against each other. Sometimes when my sister gets upset, it upsets me because I try to diminish some conflict that can resolve. Sometimes I just want to shout and tell them to just either talk about their problems with each other or just let their relationship crumble.
I feel you. My (half) sister is 12 years older than me and she and my dad would always get into arguments and disagreements because of their communication problems. As my dad's first child/middle child, I became the 'perfect' child, but I also had to listen to both sides. As the middle person, it was easy to see what their issues were, but the two of them couldn't. In my teens, I became my dad's sounding board so that he could dump his relationship problems on me, and it wasn't until a few years ago that he realized that he shouldn't be doing that. I relate a lot with Louisa and Isabella. Since my older sister was kicked out of the house, and my brother was finding every possible way to make my dad upset I unintentionally became the favorite, but also the 'normal' kid because everything I did-compared to my siblings-was perfect (Isabella). And because I was the favorite I feel like I put a lot of pressure on myself to uphold that image: to not cause any trouble and to help those around me without any complaints (Louisa).

Not gonna lie, this song hits home for me. I'm the oldest brother/sibling in my family, and it's just nice to hear a song that lays it all out on the table from all that's expected of being the oldest.

I think it depends on how you pronounce the "Give it to your (sibling) your (sibling)s stronger (This part here, how you pronounce stronger) see if she/he can hang on a little longer" makes a huge difference, it has a different ring to it when you say brother vs sister 🤔
It usually depends on how the artist wants to portray the cover. I wouldn’t have minded if he’d kept the sister terms in it, but this cover might be more relatable to not only stressed brothers, but also himself with the changes :)

Edit: The pandemic literally triggered my anxiety, it felt like all that pressure turned it on and even when things were getting better, I was still anxious and in the pandemic mode.
as not only both an older brother and a younger brother who ends up taking the older's responsibility, but also an online "older brother/father figure" this hits too hard...
As someone's who's called unironically a rock, called when things are too heavy, called when things are too hard to do normally or that requires fortitude.... This songs always speaked to me. I must be perfect, I can't show weakness for if a falter, it will break.
Not an older brother, but the eldest sister. This song along with What Else Can I Do were the two songs that resonated with me the most. Both really spoke to my perfectionist, stressed self. This is a beautiful cover and great spin on probably my favorite song from the movie.
I’m not too sure if this was intentional but the cover art of the song reminds me of the story of Samson from the Bible. The guy was given the gift of incredible strength and tasked to protect the Israelites from their enemies. Wouldn’t doubt that protecting a whole nation comes with a lot of stress.

this fucking hits hard. even after ive moved out in my late grandparent's small estate, and live a hour drive away, i still have to help out on the weekend. i care about my mother and aunt too much, and my siblings and cousins are lasy as hell and dont give a damn, always asking for more money. yet..... when i ask for a single day off, im being lazy. when i dont just stand there and take the bullshit, im a child. when i cant take time off work to come visit, im being irresponsible. yet at the same time if i dont work enough i dont put enough money to the house. yet at the same time when i help them and work at the same time, im not keeping the house clean enough.
im basically the handyman, the paycheck earner, and the groundskeeper all in one, and its not enough.
I'm a youngest but this is how I'm treated 💀💀💀💀 my siblings never get off their asses either.

I definitely prefer this version. It feels like an anthem to all the great guys who never says no to their family when it comes to fixing stuff they are "supposed" to know how to do just because they are guys. I always make sure to apprieciate all the things my older brother helps us with. And I make sure to always give back that same effort or more. He's my best friend.

As a person who has OCs that are siblings, with one being an older brother, I am also happy.

As the oldest boy in my family of 8 this song really hits different, I have two younger brothers and two younger sisters who look up to me when it comes to sports & school & my family is just so big on sports I just feel like the expectation & standards that they have is something that I’ll never reach, or if I don’t reach it I’m just a failure, or useless in away yk? About a year ago, my mother passed away. My older brother had been her caretaker as she slid into dementia, and the progression of her final days was incredibly tough on him...but he repeatedly refused my help when I offered it, saying that he'd chosen to take up the duty and he would see it through. It was during the agonizing three-week period of hospice care leading up to her demise that I first saw "Encanto", and Luisa's song instantly made me think of what my brother was handling. I even sent him a link to it. He said, later on, that he listened to it many times while dealing with Mom's decline and all of the aftermath of it, including clearing out her house, and it helped him in ways he couldn't describe. Thank you for a perfect cover to share with him again.

@@RoboZombie44 He is MUCH better, thank you for asking! He's now living with our uncle (Mom's youngest brother), only about two hours away from where I live. I saw them both for the anniversary of Mom's passing, and my brother was obviously far more relaxed and practically stress-free.

Such a relatable song for anyone that's been relied on, because if you've been relied on you will be relied on again and again and again and again till it becomes too much.
I find this song so relatable. I'm not even that strong but I still feel like because of my gender and size, being a 6'4" 250lbs man I'm expected to be stronger than I am and treated like I'm worthless whenever I don't meet those expectations.

this song is the exact definition of what happens when you have to mature before time and become an adult with all its problems and expectations and if i am honest this hit harder than i thought it would i think that when a beloved one dies it forces everyone to act mature for the sake of others in my case i was still a four or five year old kid when i started to become what i wasnt supposed to be at that time an adult i had to be emotionally strong to withstand that hard blow that was the death of my beloved grandma although I was little I realized too soon what the natural cycle of life is supposed to be and knowing that it would only cause more grief if I showed myself to be weak, I contained my sadness and told my father, who did not know how to explain to me what was happening, something that it was supposed I couldn't understand until I was older which was that we are all born and die someday which is what is natural for everyone but I was supposed to have the right to feel sadness but I didn't want to and I had to act like an adult which was never expected of me at that time and now I faced the consequences of that stubbornness that I had as a child I had to mature to be the support of many and carry their pain even though they did not want me to do it, I did it added to all the challenges that growing up entailed I fell many times because of that same stubbornness but in the end I got ahead with myself but I could have made everything a little easier if I had not decided to be an adult when I should have still been a child My advice to those who are in a difficult situation where they feel that they must act like adults is not to be afraid to ask for help. It is not a weakness to show that you do not have the strength. enough to shoulder the trouble on your own

As the eldest of 5 siblings, who even helped raise a few of them as children, it's definitely sums up how I feel some days.
As a girl i perfer this version. Don't get me wrong the original is good, but to me this one has more struggle and emotion in it. In this one, it sounds like the singer is constantly on the edge, like they could be crushed by the weight of their stress and expectations any second.
As a guy I see what you mean, the original had more emotion and the girl seemed to actually break at a couple points. But this one seems like he's about to break at any given second but immediately stops himself to prevent being an emotional burden on his younger sibling.

This is me when I feel the stress of self care because even though its necessary and being a former younger sister and learning about the steps of adult life can put a strain on the back.
As an older brother, I heavily relate to this, always having to deal with almost every job in the family and everyone thinking “he’s strong he can do this”, it gets tough sometimes but I just have to deal with it, amazing song Caleb!

You just put into words and music how so many men feel. I identify as she/her and demi-ace, so I've never fit the mold of what a woman should be, and I'm still pressured to be what I'm expected when it's something I never was.
Humans are humans, and society's pressure on men to be "Rambo Manly" is just disgusting. Don't show fear. Don't show sadness. Don't show weakness. Don't show solid joy. Always be tough. This hit hard with Luisa's situation and familial expectations on her that are just nuts.

I love this song cover so much. Unlike alot of people in the comments who relate to being the reliable older sibling, this song gives me inspiration to be that reliable older sibling. I consider myself to be pretty, well, not that. So hearing this song sung so well from Caleb's voice/perspective is incredibly uplifting to me. Makes me want to better myself so I can be reliable for my younger sibling, and for my family as a whole.
This really reminds me of Movie Mario. So pressured to set an example for Luigi, responsible for every action he commits and his wellbeing, and being told by his own father that he's bringing Luigi down for pursuing his dream job instead of staying in an abusive work environment.
Love it! I relate to this song since I've always picked up the slack in my family, for years I'd clean the whole house on fridays and prepare dinner, and helped my parents with so much. It was a labor of love so I don't regret it but it does get tiring. This song just hit home.

This version makes me think of Knuckles The Echidna from Sonic the Hedgehog.

I"m the oldest. As the Big Brother i've always felt it to be my responsibility to hold every problem that my family faces. So much so that i've put so much of my own happiness on the back burner in order to make it easier for everyone else. I'm my families protector, and that pressure is impossible to overcome, but i still fight. I always will, because if i don't fight, nobody else will. After hearing this version i curled into a ball on the floor and finally cried. My siblings will never understand what it is like to be me, handling our families issues. They'll never know the sleepless nights, the therapy visits, the silent crying, the sounds of my broken parents, the pressure of preservation. Sometimes, i'd like to see if they'd be able to see what its like, and know "if the same pressure would've pulled them under". But i don't crack. I don't break. They wont, because i could never allow them to.

Though I may not have a real biological older brother,I have had older male figures I have seen as such and this song fits them all to some extent. This definitely was worth all the effort! I know that I am not the only one who feels ecstatic to hear this version. Nothing wrong with the original version obviously, but this felt right to exist. No matter what form this song take's, it will always hit home with me. Sometimes I cry because this song can portray how i feel when I'm really stressed out and the one who has to be the strong one for my friends and family and carry a lot mentally, physically, and emotionally. As the middle child of five siblings I'm basically invisible unless my family needs me for something, which is everyday. I didn't become a jack of all trades because I wanted to, I did it because I had to. I work out to stay in shape and to control the constant anger and hate in my heart because all they do is use me until they don't need me and then throw me away. I got kicked out my abusive step dad's house in the middle of a Wisconsin winter because I got so sick of it that I fought him physically I won, but my sister beat my ass afterwards only because I don't hit woman unless it's absolutely a life or death situation. This represents everything I went through. I was both the blame and solution for everything until I turned 18 whooped his ass one more time because he tried to stop me physically, good luck on that, i was a wrestler my entire school career, and left never looked back. My mom was ignorant about all the shit he did to me too, so she never helped or figured it out until after I left because he would always say I was lying about it.
This song relates to me on a different level. When I was a college student, I had to be mentally "strong." This was the kind of surface pressure I had to face in my life. I also had the expectation of being the older relative, not sibling because I'm an only child, to handle burdens too. It was rough.

Let me tell you something. I am 45 years old now. My family is from South America, specifically Argentina. I am the tenth of ten kids. By the time I was twelve years old, I was expected to take care of my mother, the house, cooking, cleaning, and finances because my father died. There is this unrealistic expectation in my culture for children to be perfect, so both the original and especially this cover resonates with me.

As the eldest brother in the family I always felt close to this song and having only started having anxiety attacks a lot of my family said to me they never realized how much I was feeling and apologized that they didn't see it sooner and I told them it's okay that they didn't because I made myself carry it alone so that I could protect them from my worries and in the end I've begun to accept I don't need to constantly go it quietly but that I can trust my siblings and parents to know why I want to carry such and that I will ask them for help when I need it
This song definitely hits hard for me as it's exactly what I'm going through, it's honestly strange because I'm the youngest out of my brothers but apparently over the years the youngest now has to carry everything for some reason.

I don’t have any siblings, Im an only child but I relate to this song. My bloodline has always had issues with one another, my father and mother’s sides hate each other and being the single child in the middle of the dispute I was thrown into the wild fire to become the outpost for everyone complications. If something went wrong I’d be blamed for it, my parent’s nephews constantly bullied me and if I tried to stand up for myself I’d be called a liar. I had to acted the part for two different groups, tolerate their bullshit for years just to satisfy them, I was constantly pressured to be the leverage and top of everything. I forget how many arguments I had to deal with, how many times I had to get spat at and treated like shit just so two people would stop fighting, how many times I was made to be the peace treaty. Everyone told me everything, I know all my bloodlines darkest secrets, ones that nobody else but I know. Even though I haven’t spoken to them in 6 years I still feel the weight of all their shit on me, they still try to drag me back, still try to contact me constantly and try get my father and mother to force me to speak to them. They treat my parents like absolute shit and fuck man, a part of me wants to rip them apart with all the shit I have on them but I deny to be like them

I love the contrast, guys and girls deal with a breaking point in very different ways, the most common for women is just breaking, sadness and panick or anxiety while men usually deal with a breaking point in much more physically obvious ways, like anger, being emotionally dead etc, both incredibly destructive for the one that broke and the ones that see you suffer.
I honestly think this song made my mom see everything she had done to me in pressuring me to be the strong one and help raise my sister. I had to practically raise her for the first three years of her life and it took a toll on me, I didn't get to enjoy being 19 or 20. I almost cried when I first listened to Pressure cause it broke me down right to the soul about how I felt like I needed to be the strong one, how I didn't want her to experience all the pain and pressure I did and how I wondered if I could somehow preserve this when I felt I had no purpose or reason to live.

This song is relatable to almost everyone, oldest, middle, or youngest... we all face adversities and sometimes it becomes to much for us but we don't let it be known to anyone else... i do like this rendition tho good job!
