I may be the youngest sibling of the two but both me and my older sister bear the burden of our family… it’s why I like the song so much, she doesn’t fit the general build of female Disney characters (like me, I’m on the slightly more muscular side + taller than the guys), knows how the drowning feeling of holding the family burdens feels, most relate to how she feels and doesn’t have a voice that is an alto and overall someone who is different or feels like a burden when not being of service.
In the original, Luisa sounded tough to hide the pressure she was experiencing. In this cover, she sounds tired of carrying so much pressure. I love that! Edit: In other words, this is kinda a sad version for me, and I'm not complaining
This is like the somehow even more vulnerable version Luisa would sing to herself into a mirror when she's in her room alone and can really let her mask fall.
This is like a somehow even more vulnerable version Luisa might sing to herself into a mirror when she's in her room alone and can really let her mask fall. Amazing.
luisa is like one of the first female disney characters not to fit the general appearance of female characters in disney. she is my all time favourite disney character, PERIOD. as the only and oldest female sibling of four children (20M/18F/15M/14M), i feel very pressured to be the strong one. my "oldest" brother isnt really my blood sibling but i've known him since i was born. he doesnt live in my city anymore. he made me feel like i didnt have to be the strong one all the time. he and i usually shared the role of oldest sibling. now i have to do it on my own :,) i miss him very much lol luisa just vibed with me from the very beginning because she felt the same pressure as i do. can't show weakness because then who will other people depend on if i can't do it? i love her very much. this song put into words so much that i struggled to do myself.
This song hits hard mostly “Watch as she buckles and bends but never breaks” and “Give it to your sister, it doesn’t hurt, and see if she handle every family burden”. It hits really hard. I cried when I heard these parts..
"No Crack, No Breaks, No Mistakes. No Presure" Man, that hits so hard on me. A lot of people relate to this song more than the "Classic Disney Songs" on Encanto, hope everyone to have a little break on life problems. Nice Work Anna!!!
It's a little ironic that Pixar can make a Mary Sue character that has compelling and relatable flaws. Yet alot of Disney remake characters are written very cookie cutter.
I’m so happy someone gave this song attention. Luisa is so underrated and she has so much depth to her character. I just wish the fandom also gave attention to Julieta’s side of the family Your voice is also beautiful, you made me fall in love with this song even more 💗

0:55 The practically whispered singing for the "Pressure like a drip drip drip" part stunned me in the movie. That moment of quietness, seeing so much business on screen reduce and for on just Luisa struggling. It hit me a bit too hard.
Those last "Give it to your sister, it doesn't hurt her" made me cry so hard because Luisa says it like she's slowly dying in front of her sister. It's so sad and relatable and true, even if such only becomes clear to Luisa and Mirabel in that brief moment.
“Just stay strong no matter how much pressure is applied cause if you’re not are you really worth it”, I related heavily to this song. I was waiting for someone to cover this, and I’m happy you did, and I can’t wait to see more people cover Encanto songs, I absolute loved the movie and the songs were so beautiful.
sometimes there are songs that Anna covers and her voice is almost TOO powerful, but when i heard this song, i thought it would be PERFECT for Anna and this cover by far exceeds my expectations
Just sat here for a good minute after the video ended in silence. I love Luisa, I relate to her, I feel her pain, and I have the biggest crush on her. Her song hit every single negative thing I've ever felt. It's such a good song and Anna sung it so perfectly in my opinion. She put her own small twists on it, not changing the feeling of the song, but molding it to be personal. Godddd, I love this.
I literally just rewatched the Encanto like 5 minutes ago, THE TIMING This cover is amazing as always (we all relate to Luisa a little bit too much huh?)
I feel like any Sibling, wether it be the eldest, middle or youngest - could relate to this song. This was one of the many songs (other being what else can I do) that I related sm with. @@annapantsu you love the Crane Wives!?!?! Dang they're one of my favorite groups! Literally listen to them every day. Lemme know if you'd like another voice for those harmonies! ❤
as the eldest afab, i feel this. im not even the oldest of us three. my older brother is going to be 40 later this year, im 22, and my little brother just turned 20. and yet i feel this song on another level. i just always have to be the good child who never causes any problems, the reliable child who will give up everything to help their family, never expecting anything in return, the emotional rock for when anyone needs to be grounded, even for myself. i dont have the same safety net behind me that my brothers do, so when i fall, im not caught as easily. i need to be invisible only until im needed and then i fade away again. im so tired.
My favorite part here are all the little background sounds you've got sprinkled around. Little gasps for air with an undertone of trying really really hard to not break into tears, sudden strain in the voice, and other little audio cues of how enormous of a struggle this person really is having on the inside.
Dude earlier i had this song stuck in my head and was like what if Anna covered it? Then this beauty came out! You should also do What Else Can I Do? I think you would rock that song
I relate too much to this song. I’m the oldest brother of 4 children, and sometimes it feels like I don’t have a purpose, that I am just another face in the crowd. But when I help anyone with any task no matter how difficult it gives me a sense of purpose, a feeling where I belong in the world. You were fantastic Anna, and hearing this song gives me the strength to keep fighting.
Concerning fact: recently, the Disney Vevo channel on RUclips did a poll. The poll was asking, on Women's Day, which song they most relate to. Of the 5 options, 4 were somewhat hopeful like Moana's "How Far It Goes" or The Princess And Frog "Almost There", however all where less popular than Surface Pressure, which was the number one spot. Of five options, 80% of them being positive and upbeat, the most relatable one to all the people who voted was a song about being mentally crushed under the weight of your burdens.
This cover has got me crying for the first time. I'm not this emotinal with Surface Pressure. But now it just hits harder. With my parents using me as a 'good' example for my siblings and constantly leaving me to help them. My brother will soon be joining the same school as me and now it's everyday ''Oh yeah, your sister does this'', ''your sister does that'' and ''You gotta be more like your sister'' and my parents don't know how much it is crushing me
When I started listening I was like 'hmm, I'm not sure Anna has the right voice for this one' but by midway, I was converted. This just sounded so... cinematic? So beautiful and elegant and... simple? I'm not quite sure what you did with this song, but it feels different and I really like it. It sounds like smooth honey to my ears and I'm all here for it.
I love the subtle differences between the original and this one. In the original she sounds well pressured and like shes still pretending and holding up everything, just not letting the pain show. Anna sounds more emotional, it feels like u can almost touch the pain that she's under and the anxiety that she won't be able to hold it up forever. Absolutely amazing!
I'm a big sister too. As a big sister, I'm expected to be a model for my siblings. My parents would entrust me with things that I often thought if I can really do. But as a sister, I need to be able to do anything that anyone gives. I tried finding a part time job as a 15 year old child, just so I can be able to support my sister when she reaches college. I often think about how I would be worthless if I were to give up. So, I still stand even if the pressure is about to blow me alive. Luisa, I really relate to her. And this cover just makes it more heartfelting than it was supposed to. I like it. Thank you Anna.
I literally dropped everything to hear this cover. I just gotta say you never disappoint, Anna! Phenomenal job as always and I hope to see more Encanto covers.
Me: I really want to listen to surface pressure for some reason Anna: _reads my mind_ Seriously though you are so amazing thank you for doing what you do ❤❤
Lyrics: I'm the strong one, I'm not nervous I'm as tough as the crust of the earth is I move mountains, I move churches And I glow 'cause I know what my worth is I don't ask how hard the work is Got a rough indestructible surface Diamonds and platinum, I find 'em, I flatten 'em I take what I'm handed, I break what's demanding But Under the surface I feel berserk as a tightrope walker in a three-ring circus Under the surface Was Hercules ever like "Yo, I don't wanna fight Cerberus"? Under the surface I'm pretty sure I'm worthless if I can't be of service A flaw or a crack The straw in the stack That breaks the camel's back What breaks the camel's back it's Pressure like a drip, drip, drip that'll never stop, whoa Pressure that'll tip, tip, tip 'till you just go pop, whoa Give it to your sister, your sister's older Give her all the heavy things we can't shoulder Who am I if I can't run with the ball? If I fall to Pressure like a grip, grip, grip and it won't let go, whoa Pressure like a tick, tick, tick 'til it's ready to blow, whoa Give it to your sister, your sister's stronger See if she can hang on a little longer Who am I if I can't carry it all? If I falter Under the surface I hide my nerves, and it worsens, I worry something is gonna hurt us Under the surface The ship doesn't swerve as it heard how big the iceberg is Under the surface I think about my purpose, can I somehow preserve this? Line up the dominoes A light wind blows You try to stop it tumbling But on and on it goes But wait If I could shake the crushing weight of expectations Would that free some room up for joy Or relaxation, or simple pleasure? Instead we measure this growing pressure Keeps growing, keep going 'Cause all we know is Pressure like a drip, drip, drip that'll never stop, whoa Pressure that'll tip, tip, tip 'til you just go pop, whoa-oh-oh Give it to your sister, it doesn't hurt And see if she can handle every family burden Watch as she buckles and bends but never breaks No mistakes just Pressure like a grip, grip, grip and it won't let go, whoa Pressure like a tick, tick, tick 'til it's ready to blow, whoa Give it to your sister and never wonder If the same pressure would've pulled you under Who am I if I don't have what it takes? No cracks, no breaks No mistakes, no pressure
I absolutely adore how stripped back the instrumentals are in this cover, it really makes Luisa feel more vulnerable and also a bit more her age - she is, as far as I know, only 17 in the movie, and damn you can really feel that in this cover!
I'm trying to hold my tears hearing this song cause of how much I related to it. As the oldest brother of three siblings, I always think that I need to take care of my twin bro and my little sister while my family is busy. And seeing Luisa losing her power while her sister is struggling, it's so representing my problem when I started to lose my responsibility to my siblings when I worked too much

As the youngest of the family, I somehow relate to this song. My sister was the one who carried the family burdens and still does to this day… I feel as though I’m useless because she’s the one who has to carry it all and I can’t help her… I was always told to give my problems to my sister if I couldn’t do it but I feel like I’m useless if I can’t do it but the way she sings makes it feel like it’s in my pov and my family are telling me to hand over my problems to her and all I can do is watch her buckle yet she still holds on.

In the original, Luisa sounded tough to hide the pressure she was experiencing. In this cover, she sounds tired of carrying so much pressure. I love that!
Edit: In other words, this is kinda a sad version for me, and I'm not complaining
There's so much expression in her voice I love it
@@laelaisasome
That's just Anna's talent for ya!
This is like the somehow even more vulnerable version Luisa would sing to herself into a mirror when she's in her room alone and can really let her mask fall.
I think the right word is tired, tired of carrying all the pressure.

Yes...
luisa is like one of the first female disney characters not to fit the general appearance of female characters in disney. she is my all time favourite disney character, PERIOD.
as the only and oldest female sibling of four children (20M/18F/15M/14M), i feel very pressured to be the strong one. my "oldest" brother isnt really my blood sibling but i've known him since i was born. he doesnt live in my city anymore. he made me feel like i didnt have to be the strong one all the time. he and i usually shared the role of oldest sibling. now i have to do it on my own :,) i miss him very much lol
luisa just vibed with me from the very beginning because she felt the same pressure as i do. can't show weakness because then who will other people depend on if i can't do it? i love her very much. this song put into words so much that i struggled to do myself.
I wish she was in the film more though. After the amazing song, she kind of derails and doesn't get much focus.
This song hits hard mostly “Watch as she buckles and bends but never breaks” and “Give it to your sister, it doesn’t hurt, and see if she handle every family burden”. It hits really hard. I cried when I heard these parts..

Man, that hits so hard on me.
*A little break on life problems got me into this mess ._.*
i related to Maribals song "waiting for a miracle" a lot more personally, but thats me
This is the sound of anxiety and I mean that in the best way possible. This made my heart differently than the original did. Very good job.
I’m so happy someone gave this song attention. Luisa is so underrated and she has so much depth to her character. I just wish the fandom also gave attention to Julieta’s side of the family
Your voice is also beautiful, you made me fall in love with this song even more 💗

I was about to say this!!!
@@annapantsu Ooo, yay!
This was really great.
The second the chorus kicked in I was like "well shit looks like Im gonna cry today" HAHAHAHAAHHAHA THIS IS AMAZINGGG

The vocal range and power in this song is honestly incredible, this has gotta be some of the best work you've ever done, Anna
I literally just rewatched the Encanto like 5 minutes ago, THE TIMING
This cover is amazing as always (we all relate to Luisa a little bit too much huh?)
Sure do.. 😔
I feel like any Sibling, wether it be the eldest, middle or youngest - could relate to this song. This was one of the many songs (other being what else can I do) that I related sm with. The pressure my mum puts on me without being aware of doing so makes me sad because I know she’s not tryna hurt me but she is.
May God be with you, much love!

Song suggestion: Curses by the Crane Wives, I'm currently obsessed with the harmonies
Yes!
This request is such a breath of fresh air because I absolutely LOVE the Crane Wives. I don’t know if I’ll post a full cover of it but I just wanted to say thank you for unknowingly suggesting one of my favorite songs : )
OMG I love that band!
Crane wives is literally the best music ever 😩✌

Oh my gosh you're perfect for it, I really wanted to see a cover of this from you 💕💕
Anna has a way of taking a song and making it her own that's unmatched
The original already hit me hard but hearing the harmonies sent chills down my spine
Yes finally… her voice fits this 😫👍🏼
Finally, a cover that ISN'T "We don't talk about Bruno". Excellent work on the video, Anna.
She actually did We Don’t Talk About Bruno with some friends :)
@@katiegorl Ooo can you post the link tho the video?
Concerning fact: recently, the Disney Vevo channel on RUclips did a poll. The poll was asking, on Women's Day, which song they most relate to. Of the 5 options, 4 were somewhat hopeful like Moana's "How Far It Goes" or The Princess And Frog "Almost There", however all where less popular than Surface Pressure, which was the number one spot.
Of five options, 80% of them being positive and upbeat, the most relatable one to all the people who voted was a song about being mentally crushed under the weight of your burdens.
so real tho
This cover has got me crying for the first time. I'm not this emotinal with Surface Pressure. But now it just hits harder. With my parents using me as a 'good' example for my siblings and constantly leaving me to help them. My brother will soon be joining the same school as me and now it's everyday ''Oh yeah, your sister does this'', ''your sister does that'' and ''You gotta be more like your sister'' and my parents don't know how much it is crushing me
I HAVE NEVER CLICKED SO FAST IN MY LIFE- THE QUEEN IS BACK
THE QUEEN HAS RETURNED!!!
I love Surface Pressure so much and now I love it even more because you covered it, Anna!!! Beautiful absolutely beautiful
You forget, the original is deeper. She pitched it up.

Lyrics:
I'm the strong one, I'm not nervous
I'm as tough as the crust of the earth is
I move mountains, I move churches
And I glow 'cause I know what my worth is
I don't ask how hard the work is
Got a rough indestructible surface
Diamonds and platinum, I find 'em, I flatten 'em
I take what I'm handed, I break what's demanding
But
Under the surface
I feel berserk as a tightrope walker in a three-ring circus
Under the surface
Was Hercules ever like "Yo, I don't wanna fight Cerberus"?
Under the surface
I'm pretty sure I'm worthless if I can't be of service
A flaw or a crack
The straw in the stack
That breaks the camel's back
What breaks the camel's back it's
Pressure like a drip, drip, drip that'll never stop, whoa
Pressure that'll tip, tip, tip 'till you just go pop, whoa
Give it to your sister, your sister's older
Give her all the heavy things we can't shoulder
Who am I if I can't run with the ball?
If I fall to
Pressure like a grip, grip, grip and it won't let go, whoa
Pressure like a tick, tick, tick 'til it's ready to blow, whoa
Give it to your sister, your sister's stronger
See if she can hang on a little longer
Who am I if I can't carry it all?
If I falter
Under the surface
I hide my nerves, and it worsens, I worry something is gonna hurt us
Under the surface
The ship doesn't swerve as it heard how big the iceberg is
Under the surface
I think about my purpose, can I somehow preserve this?
Line up the dominoes
A light wind blows
You try to stop it tumbling
But on and on it goes
But wait
If I could shake the crushing weight of expectations
Would that free some room up for joy
Or relaxation, or simple pleasure?
Instead we measure this growing pressure
Keeps growing, keep going
'Cause all we know is
Pressure like a drip, drip, drip that'll never stop, whoa
Pressure that'll tip, tip, tip 'til you just go pop, whoa-oh-oh
Give it to your sister, it doesn't hurt
And see if she can handle every family burden
Watch as she buckles and bends but never breaks
No mistakes just
Pressure like a grip, grip, grip and it won't let go, whoa
Pressure like a tick, tick, tick 'til it's ready to blow, whoa
Give it to your sister and never wonder
If the same pressure would've pulled you under
Who am I if I don't have what it takes?
No cracks, no breaks
No mistakes, no pressure
i dont think we need this we already have it in the video

YES YES YES YES YES I LOVE THIS THANK YOU ANNA FOR BLESSING US THIS EARLY
This animation is awesome. Feels like I'm in a music box turning with Luisa at the center.
She’s a middle child like me! We’re often overlooked and as a result end up being the most independent compared to our siblings
I absolutely adore how stripped back the instrumentals are in this cover, it really makes Luisa feel more vulnerable and also a bit more her age - she is, as far as I know, only 17 in the movie, and damn you can really feel that in this cover!
It's the line "give it to your sister, and never wonder if the same pressure would have pulled you under" for me.
Yeeessss! You finally do an Encanto song! I wonder if she’ll do What Else Can I Do? or Waiting On A Miracle. Or heck, maybe We Don’t Talk About Bruno.
THE GASP I JUST LET OUT😍I’m so glad you back 🥰
I'm trying to hold my tears hearing this song cause of how much I related to it. As the oldest brother of three siblings, I always think that I need to take care of my twin bro and my little sister while my family is busy. And seeing Luisa losing her power while her sister is struggling, it's so representing my problem when I started to lose my responsibility to my siblings when I worked too much

Also, you should cover Burn Butcher Burn from the Witcher. You did toss a coin already and I think you would sound absolutely amazing
As the youngest of the family, I somehow relate to this song. My sister was the one who carried the family burdens and still does to this day… I feel as though I’m useless because she’s the one who has to carry it all and I can’t help her…
I was always told to give my problems to my sister if I couldn’t do it but I feel like I’m useless if I can’t do it but the way she sings makes it feel like it’s in my pov and my family are telling me to hand over my problems to her and all I can do is watch her buckle yet she still holds on.
This song hits hard, and your version is absolutely stunning. You never fail to impress: but more than that, it's an emotional impact. You can feel and hear it, and that's what I appreciate the most. Brilliant!
I was so beyond exited for this one, just a gut feeling that it was coming
I relate to Luisa as I'm the middle child and this song speaks to me. My sister said I look like Luisa (because of my face) and I told her this song is basically what being a middle child is (to me, as I try to take on the family burdens). She said she never thought of it that way and said she appreciates me for doing that
