Buddy in law enforcement out there. He says the worst aspect of marijuana legalization was a flood of 19 year old kids moving there with no money, no skill set.....leaving them unable to afford to get a place.
@@destinationdenvercoloradoEspecially in Clear Creek County the first few years. Horrible. Then new powers that be cracked down, and the High prices have now run them out.
Just took some friends for a hike on Sunday and they did not think the altitude was going to be a problem and they had some issues. Drink lots of water people it will make a difference.
It's real - every time I go on a hike with someone from out of state and especially from sea level, they always hit a point where the altitude starts to get to them, no matter how good of shape they are in. Water is crucial!
Newbie here. Altitude issues are the real deal. Drinking lots of water, taking Aleve, there is even oxygen you can buy for relief. Take your time. The issues will pass as you adjust but generally speaking, I have never seen anyone not have issues that are living in low elevations. I came from Nashville and there may be a switch here because my rent is lower in Denver than Nashville. I found the transportation options refreshing. I love outdoors but like to generally hike alone or with my dog but hang in the MANY parks that are in the communities. Moisturizer is your friend. As far as meeting like minded people, I love museums, theater, and art. I don't feel like you have to be an outdoorsy person to fit in. However, with the Rockies and the beauty it presents, it's hard to ignore all that it can offer. Come with an open mind and you will be fine.
Long story short, I wanted to point out I've seen older people move here who don't take part in the outdoors scene. I've been here since 1988 and have found that for physically challenged people there are no worries as for fitting in! There are a lot of concerts, great restaurants, museums, sports teams to follow, there are wonderful day trips you can go to the mountain towns and check them out! So much more to do besides ski and hike!!😊
Grew up in Greeley, graduated H.S. in Aurora but glad to say I left the Denver area 10 years ago and Colorado 6 years ago. No, looking back it has become California East.
I've lived in Denver all my life, and even just 10 years ago the traffic wasn't anywhere near as bad as it is now. 10 years ago I used to be able to drive from Cap Hill to the Tech Center - *during rush hour* - in about 20 minutes, and now that same commute can easily take 40 minutes to an hour - it's absolutely crazy. Crime is also been increasing year-on-year, with Denver now having a 136% higher crime rate over this past year compared to the national average.
Yeah that traffic thing. My grandpa was on some kind of planning board at one point and he had these notes talking about(these were from the 70s i think) long tern Effects of things building out from 16th street station. There was also something about the location of I-25. Interesting stuff.
Lived there from the 1980s to 2019. Watched Denver go through a lot of changes. Great city, will always have a place in my heart for it, and visit often. But? With all the growth comes.... crime. The increase was exponential in the last 5 years we lived there. Our car windows were smashed in at open space parking lots, more car vandalizations in the neighborhood along with break-ins. more graffiti. It wasn't the same anymore. Got peeps moving in from states who've never driven in snow so traffic congestion on snowy days can be a beast. Traffic to the ski areas, much higher costs, and the crowds made snowboarding/skiing a chore.
I've tried living in Denver a few times in the past 6 years. Cost of living, homeless people everywhere, crime, marijuana culture, etc. People I worked with had no motivation and all were stoners. Friends I made that grew up there are all in the process of selling their homes to get out of there. Not for me.
the altitude can also reck havoc with your blood pressure. So don't be surprised if you have a higher than normal blood pressure. I had to go on medication, but it doesn't bother me as much as I thought.
Interesting, that makes a lot of sense and I appreciate you sharing that with us! I am happy to hear it isn't causing you too much of a problem. Thank you for watching!
How many trips to King Soopers and REI does it take for me to become a native and get the Colorado Native bumper sticker? Does it magically appear on my Subaru Outback or do I have to pick it up?
That’s fantastic! I just had dinner the other night with some friends that I met off of RUclips that I helped move here and they have done more hikes and camped more often than any native, I know. I told them they deserve the bumper sticker.😂
Something I've noticed (I'm a lifelong wyomingite) Denver, and Colorado in general, when it comes to healthcare, they are a little more likely to use acupuncture, chiropractic care, aroma therapy, before going to the conventional doctor...another note on outdoors recreation, i have noticed a trend of Greenies that recreate in Snowy range, Laramie Peak area, and Wyomingites who recreate in horsetooth, or get hotel rooms and kick around downtown. Note 3, when in Wyoming , you will hear Laramie referred to as N FoCo and Cheyenne referenced as N Denver.
Not to mention fires, floods, tornadoes, and extremely large hail that piles like snow 2:35 I personally love it, but I do hope it scares people out of my state 🤣
Hey man! these were great! Been in Boston for 10 years making the "mountain life" work with 2+ hour drives to the nearest thing you could call a mountain for backpacking, camping, skiing, day hikes, you name it. Coming from Boston, everything looks to be better there - Weather, access to mountains, traffic, rent, housing costs, and other costs of living. I am in construction/architecture so fact that everything is being developed sounds good for my market. I have heard horrors of i-70, is it really that bad? And city traffic, right now it's 4:30pm on Monday, and a drive from Cambridge (5-6 miles out of Boston downtown) to Salem 23 mile trip on the highway is 1hr 7 minutes (if the GPS is actually correct and its not more). Cambridge to Framingham at only 22 miles is 1hr 18 minutes currently. Are these mile to minute ratios the level of Denver during rush hour or i-70 traffic? "Bad" as you said is relative, and I am trying to understand if I will feel relief coming from Boston?
Hi Joe! I can understand a lot of this thoughts, when I moved back to Denver from NY I had many of the same. I think the key for me, as you mentioned, is the desire to get outside and get to the mountains combined with having them so close. I-70 traffic can be pretty tough coming back from the mountains on a Sunday, but I’ve never had that brutal of a drive on other days. Denver traffic doesn’t hold a candle to Boston, NY or Chicago traffic. It’s slower for sure, a 30 minute drive becomes 45, you just aren’t stopped for long stretches going now where. I find that a lot of people moving from larger cities enjoy that Denver has “some” amenities, certainly not as many as a Boston will, but enough to check the boxes while increasing affordability lit and quality of life.
I'm a truck driver from Utah I go to Colorado often the construction on the 25 aspecily up north in loveland fort Collins is bad traffic on the 70 is bad Greely Colorado is good 👍
#11 The bashing of Denver. Not hot enough, not cold enough, not good enough, not bad enough, too many crybabies from different states continuously complaining..
@@destinationdenvercoloradoMy mother and I are moving to Aurora December 1st of this year. After reading the comments I’m a bit nervous and excited all at once. We will be in the suburbs and I’m her caretaker. I hope Aurora is LGBTQ friendly as well POC friendly because I am both. We face so much adversity these days and I’d like my mother to have a peaceful retirement, she’s been through so much in the segregated south to raising two children alone while working and earning a University degree. Any input would be greatly appreciated on how to navigate our Colorado experience.❤
Probably not more chill/ laid back. As someone from Dallas, also lives in Boston, & Albuquerque. Denver peeps are cut throat like Boston, but they are far from slouches like Albuquerque.
Really thankful for these objective videos! I will be there in a month; sitting in Tampa, FL currently. I'm wondering mainly if the rent is offset by the higher wages there? Here in super Republican FL we have $12 minimum wave, and most jobs pay about 12 - 14, and 15 sometimes with lot's of experience. I noticed on some listings in Denver offering 16 -18/20+ even in the retail / warehousing space? I also noticed a lot more brick housing there; most homes here are made of wood and much older by the looks of things; CO seems much more updated and modern so at least your getting a decent house for the buck. Maybe it's your Geology/mining industry there, and the rich natural resources available. Here in Fl pay less but for a wooden house lol, and some are now made from cement I guess. Anyway, I'm going to study Geology in Community college of Denver. I can't wait!
Don't move here if you have lung issues. There are a lot of "poor air quality" alert days and these are increasing. A lot has to due with the increased traffic. We have a lot of brown haze days.
We recently did a military move here the only thing I didn’t like is marijuana smell. I don’t care what people do with their lives but yeah the smell isn’t the greatest 😅 However, loving Colorado
I felt the same way, especially right after I got out of the Navy, the smell drove me crazy. It doesn’t as much anymore, but I get where you’re coming from!
The cost of living living here is out of control! If you want to buy a nice 3 bedroom, 2 bath house, it will cost between $700k to $800k. The traffic is horrible and it is only getting worse. Our streets are horrible and need to be repaved. Our public transportation is good, but it needs improvement.

Racist replacement of white people that's what you call diversity?Would you replace Africans in Afrika with Europeans and call it diversity?@@destinationdenvercolorado
@@destinationdenvercoloradodiversity seems to be a fetish for white places only. And the irony is, this “diversity” we let in causes MUCH higher crime rate, weighs heavily on food stamps, and leads to anti white rhetoric that is getting more and more acceptable as ok. Is this really what you want? The lowest crime rate cities are actually the whitest and the least populated. All for “good food”? Currently 7% of the population commits 60% of all murders in America. There is ZERO solution in place that actually lowers that statistic.
Probably the worst traffic can be going through Dallas in the summer 😂. Yah is walk 4 miles 2 way to federal/central station, not too bad! The high elevation and dry atmosphere helps, especially with my asthma! Denver area could some better defined sidewalks for people with low visibility tho!! #12 Negative Attitude Regulations and laws are a major way of protecting the environment and the topography. However, a significant amount of animosity (toward their fellow American) coming from Denver-sapiens, I mean Denverites, is apparent.
I'm moving to Parker, Colorado from Western Oregon in a couple weeks for my job. I am a little worried about what the altitude will do and the weather. Sorry I'm going to add to your traffic problem but I'm a vanlifer so I won't be taking up housing space.
You are most welcome, my friend! The altitude might mess with you initially, but you’ll get used to it and not even notice. It’s just those first handful of days that get people.

Thanks for the great info! Regarding marijuana use, is that generally allowed in public, outdoor places? We are thinking of moving to the area but my wife really does not like the smell of people smoking pot. So I'm trying to figure out how much of an issue that might be when we're trying to enjoy a public park, the 16th st mall, etc.
Great question - it’s technically only legal in a private residence, but I do think you’re likely to catch whiff along 16th st mall and at outdoor concerts like Red Rocks. That’s not to say you’ll walk through a cloud of it routinely or that you can’t avoid it pretty easily - but you’ll definitely smell if from time to time.
What the law states and what's actually enforced are very different things. People will light up in areas that are crowded, or outside of bars/clubs, and other areas where it's hard to detect and or find the person smoking it. The main thing they're looking for that they can enforce is people smoking and driving, or smoking around school. Other than that, most of these laws are very difficult to enforce. As @teegur stated, even some of those places that were enforced a lot, are being enforced less.
Try living in Baton Rouge Louisiana . The weather is ridiculous down here . The crime rate is high ( 36 murders have happened since January 1st ) . The cost of living is high and the pay minimum wage pay is between 8 $8.75/ hr - $10/hr .. it’s hard to get good jobs because this state doesn’t help people . Everything moves slow out here . The people are ignorant and the only fun is drinking alcohol and clubbing . Not to mention the food is designed for high blood pressure and diabetes !

We lived in Houston for 10 years and moved to Seattle and absolutely hate it. Now considering moving to Denver but don't want to jump from frying pan and into the fire. We're politically center left but Seattle is way too left for us. Mostly this extreme has caused crime in Seattle to get way out of control, homeless encampments with open meth and heroine use - not to mention the average home price being over 1 million and rent being now at 3000 a month for a 3 bedroom home. All this while we hear gunshots outside our window at night. Never had this issue in Houston - which is a large city. We want to live in a moderately liberal place with a bit more reasonable cost of living compared to Seattle and not having to trip over a homeless ten with someone od-ing with a needle stuck in their arm everywhere I turn. We plan to visit Denver later in spring as we hear it's a little more politically to the center but are concerned that it is similar to Seattle with lack of police availability and homeless encampments everywhere you look.
@@guilhermebacchin5261I can tell there are a lot of transplants from Florida to Colorado because of all the Florida license plates I see daily. Is Florida that bad? I’ve never been
While this video is spot on, you missed the number 1 reason not to move here. The people suck! This has got to be the most unfriendly place on the planet. I've now lived here 26 years so I know what I'm talking about. My late wife dragged me and I'm now too old to start over again. Whenever I get the chance I go up to Boulder and do a lot of that out door stuff you mentioned with much nicer people
Most of the people aren't even from here . This has always been the case. I remember in the 90's everyone at work asking who was actually from Colorado and the majority weren't.
I was just there on Nov 3rd to the 5th. My Son was stationed there at the Space Force Base in Aurora, so we drove him up from The Gulf Coast of Texas. We live an hour South of San Antonio and an Hour from Corpus. This video was fun and I saw many similarities to Texas described in your video. I did notice a much more diverse population, I saw Muslims, and Indian ( INDIA ) people in Aurora mostly. I also saw quite a few Asians and African Americans. But yes I think the majority were Hispanic or Caucasians that I saw while traveling playing tourist. So I think you are quite diverse. I have friends in Parker CO and in Fort Morgan... many years ago I would travel to the area for Game Conventions as a rep for a company out of Spain. Its amazing to see the growth and changes Denver and the area have undergone. I always love the depth the mountains have and the snow capped peaks... it is very breath taking or maybe that's the altitude... but either way it can bring a tear to ones eyes the beauty of it all. Our son said this is where he wants to live for the rest of his life, so my wife wants us to be closer and move up there. So I am doing some research.
I want to add a few things. Been here all my life. I think I am older than this guy so I can say. The altitude, the sprawl, the lack of water, the dryness, cost of living, lack of rain, weed. These are the things that bother people. I am an Uber driver at the airport so I know my stuff. The things above are hard for people, and sometimes horrify people. You smell weed just driving around town. That is annoying to a huge number of people. People are horrified by the sprawl going to the airport. Lots of restaurants are health aware. So what? We also have Denny's and Black eyed Pea, and Pete's Kitchen and so on. Stop repeating generalizations that Denver is just this ultra health aware city and people are really outdoorsy everywhere. You are obviously only talking about your set of friends. I know plenty of people in Denver that do blue collar jobs or sit around and drink and smoke weed all day long. They are not as how you portray. But I know your video is titled for clicks. Also regarding diversity. I guess you've never been to Aurora, which is next do to Denver. It is as diverse as NYC or LA, or San Fran. Ethiopians, Asians, Middle Easterners everywhere.
I appreciate you watching the video, and I respect where you are coming from. I can imagine you get a ton of input from the people you interact with every day. Every perspective is different and I try to cover as much as I can in each video I do. I try to give an honest assessment and opinion and I really do appreciate when I get feedback from people. I think you make some valid points, and I also think you are at off - such as comparing Aurora to NYC. At the end of the day I am trying to give people a starting point to exploring this city - and I try to be as sincere in my compliments and critics as I can be.
No mention of the Hail?! Its gotta be the worst in the country? And traffic is definitely terrible. 26 miles from I36 to Centennial is 1.5 hours.....at least! Traffic sucks
I appreciate you watching! I’ve spoken about our traffic dozens of times and people are usually on the opposite side of the argument telling me that their drive is shorter than I mention - so thank you for sharing that! As for hail, sure we get hail, it’s just sporadic where it hits. Some people may deal with it a few times in their life, others may never get hit.
@destinationdenvercolorado the hail sucks. I live at I36 and Sheridan. Get hail every summer. I work by centennial Airport, get hail every summer. Not fun
On the subject of diversity, what's your take on the LGBTQ+ community in Denver? Good place to live if you're part of it? Thanks so much for the video!
Hi Robin! I was actually having that conversation yesterday - I think, and many in the community have voiced the same, that Denver is very inclusive of the LGBTQ+ community and has been once of the more accepting cities in general. I do have friends in the community that have said they would like to see that acceptance spread a bit more into some of our suburbs, where they can feel it is a little less welcoming in some areas.
Denver seems to be a very fit in with the rest of the people visually and mentally, but as you go more outside of the city, I think the problem becomes people just aren't that comfortable with the "city life" coming into their smaller communities. A lot of the people just want others to look similar to them in how they look and dress. Like no pink tutus in a rural community. @@destinationdenvercolorado
Denver and the surrounding metro area is a VERY LGBTQ+ friendly! We live in the suburbs south of Denver, and my high schooler is transgender. He came out during the pandemic. Before we even got his name and gender legally changed, his school made sure to update his information in their system so that there would be no first day of school awkwardness with the teachers calling him by his dead name or using the wrong pronouns. They couldn't update his official records until we legally changed it, but I was so appreciative that the administration made sure he would not be embarrassed in the meantime. His school also has an all gender bathroom for students to use. If some of the LGBTQ kids aren't comfortable using that bathroom, they are allowed to use the private, single restrooms in the counseling office. I've asked my son on multiple occasions if him and his other LGBTQ+ friends ever get bullied and he laughs at me like I'm a crazy person for asking that and tells me there's no bullying at his school. He said if anyone ever tried to bully them, so many other kids would step in and shut it down right away. He also said they did have an experience during lunch one time where a girl approached them and started telling them Jesus didn't love them, but a teacher immediately stepped in and removed her. Additionally, my employer is also very LBTQ+ friendly. We have different business resource groups that employees can voluntarily sign up to be a part of that meet regularly and put on special events, and one of those groups is an LBTQ+ group. The managers and employees also all go through annual diversity and inclusion training. From our CEO down, diversity and inclusion are very heavily promoted at my work. Our Children's Hospital here is the only hospital in our state, and the surrounding states, who provide services to transgender minors, so they see children coming in from out of state. Unfortunately, there is a waitlist, but they told me they are trying to hire doctors and other medical staff as quickly as they can to help alleviate the waitlist. So yes, there is a huge LGBTQ+ community here with lots of support, and I'm very proud of that. I definitely feel like I live in probably one of the best places in the entire US for my son to grow up and thrive as a transgender person.
Why didn’t the massive amount of potholes all over the streets and highways not make your list or the fact that the city of Denver isn’t picking up the residential trash on schedule?
In my defense, roads are definitely mentioned in plenty of my videos. As for trash pickup, I made this video over a year ago! Haha. Thanks for watching!
I would add one more… Denver residents are NOT nice or welcoming. I moved here recently and it has been my biggest issue. Almost no one here is kind or nice.
I’m sorry that has been your experience, I would like to think that’s the exception and that we are welcoming for the most part, but there is no excuse for people not being kind!
You are right. That can be blamed primarily on the transplants. They've changed the culture there. Colorado natives are nice and welcoming. And I've been here since 1960s.
Also the non-stop repetitive “we’re in a drought” talk by the weather people here year after year. We are in a SEMI-ARID region that happens to be near the mountain on the continental divide with decent to better mountain snow. We will always have water, unless California takes it.
A lot of the problems with Co have to do with development and exponential growth. This state simply couldn't handle the growth at the rate that it happened. It can take many years to build more roads, improve the ones that are decaying, widen current corridors, and expand where needed. This state simply doesn't have the resources to do that at the rate that it needs to happen. A lot of homeless people are victims of increases in rent prices. If they could do a max of $950 per month, and then their rent increases to $1,340 per month, they're then homeless if they can't get rental assistance.
One very big , but never talked about, unless you are driving to the mountains, there is nothing close or worth driving to, u have to fly to a destination.
This video was made in March of 2023, so admittedly I’m not positive what part you’re talking about. As for saying it was #1, what’s that based off of?
@destinationdenvercolorado that article came out last summer. No.1 for quality of Low end.....mid-range....and High end rentals. So it covered all 3 markets. That was for Denver as well as the suburbs where I live...and have lived for 64 years.
Denver definitely has it's cold months, but it depends on what cold means to someone. People coming from warm climates might be thrown off by our winters, but people coming here from colder climates like the US Midwest tend to think its very mild here. Thank you for watching!
For some reason I never liked Denver - never lived there but it just never appealed to me. To me the only sport that belongs there are the Broncos but with their old "D" helmuts.
First - I agree with your Broncos and the D logo - and I think a lot of locals would too. I get where you are coming from as far as not living here, Denver certainly isn't a fit for everyone. Some love it, some hate it, and most fall somewhere in between. I appreciate you watching!
As one born in Denver 55 years ago there is definitely gentrification in Denver. However, in the suburban area of the city of Aurora just east of Denver there is a nice balance of diversity. The city nickname is “the World in a city” with almost a quarter of residents being born in a different country and almost 100 languages spoken it’s definitely more diversified.
Definitely gonna smell weed everywhere you go no questions asked. Whether its from a grow warehouse, dispensary, or people smoking or just having weed on them its constant. So just be aware its a normal everyday thing here. Has been for years so if you don't smoke bud at least be accepting of it because you won't fit in if not 💯 Weed shops are everywhere there's a liquor store and head shop 😂😂😂
I recommend moving to Boulder where the governor and his husband live. The governor's mansion in Denver just wasn't good enough and after taking a look at the mansion and surrounding cesspool of a city; one can hardly blame the multimillionaire puppet.
It is SO funny and ridiculous how I see so many people blaming the homelessness on marijuana when those people are smoking meth and fentanyl pills. Marijuana wasn't and still isn't legal in Austin and that place was overrun with homeless junkies when I lived there. I thought we moved past this mentality with weed. You do know that you are FAR more likely to be homeless due to alcohol than marijuana right? It is so fucking ridiculous. I have a full time job and rent an apartment and I function completely fine. Guess what....sometimes, I smoke marijuana. And by sometimes, I mean often. Scary right?
I didn’t say that people were homeless because of marijuana. The legalization of marijuana initially brought a large amount of people to Colorado, which played a role in increasing the cost of housing and did have some impact back around 2014. I am fully aware that there are far larger aspects to the homeless crisis, including drug use, alcohol, and certainly mental health. I assure you, I am not anti-marijuana - I would lose about half of my friend group.😂
@@destinationdenvercolorado I wasn't accusing you of personally having that opinion. I was just saying that I disagree with that idea that some people have in Denver. I've heard it before. Sure, an influx of people moving to an area, and certain laws can have that effect. I believe that that was what was happening to Austin when I lived there. I just think it's an easy thing to blame for some people and, as you said, the problem is a lot more complex. I wasn't coming at you personally bud. I enjoy your videos. I understand that I said, "You do know that you are FAR more likely to be homeless due to alcohol than marijuana right?", so that may have come off as me addressing you. It was a rhetorical "you" kind of referring to people that say marijuana ruined Denver. I also have to be open to the fact that maybe it did. I don't think so, but maybe I'm wrong.
You failed to mention anything about the air quality. I found it to be unacceptable for my health. you also failed to mention crime & gang activity which was on the increase there & city government leaves a lot to be desired, & they don't seem to be doing much of anything about the rising homelessness which has ruined downtown & east Colfax & its spreading.
I appreciate the feedback! Two important factors, no question. I’ve talked about air quality in other videos. Denver’s has suffered, but wildfires in Canada and California have affected a lot of areas, so Denver’s not the only one struggling. As for crime, again - I do speak on that in plenty of videos, and I encourage anyone moving here to do their due diligence.
Agreed, however it’s the only one where there is public information on it. Any other comment is opinion at best - and I want to be clear on what’s opinion and what’s fact.
Used to live up in Estes Park back in the 70's. But it started to change so I got out. Was a beautiful city though. Now you've got to deal with illegals and ridiculous government.
I am a Wyoming Native and we wish people from Denver would stop spending weekends here in Wyoming, taking our campsites. Live in Colorado, camp in Colorado.
@@destinationdenvercolorado overall living here isn’t bad. Been here 15 years. Lots to do and I have met some awesome people. My comment is more of a generalization that you kind of have to watch a lot of people here. However this being a transplant city, I feel this place tends to attract a lot of not so great people. Just drive anywhere and you see it on the roads. Had a guy downtown threaten to murder me during Christmas and had to call 911. I’ve had my house broken into, my wife’s car, multiple friends cars, I can go on and on.
It depends on where you are coming from, of course, but for people coming from larger cities like New York, L.A. or Miami - Denver is not even close to being as diverse.
I didn’t say it was the cause, I said it was a part of the cause for our population spike which drove up costs. A lot of people moved here that cannot afford it.

Buddy in law enforcement out there. He says the worst aspect of marijuana legalization was a flood of 19 year old kids moving there with no money, no skill set.....leaving them unable to afford to get a place.
That’s an interesting take, and I could see where that is true. I appreciate the perspective!
It's true a lot of people who voted weed legislation regret it.

I really appreciate you watching and for sharing your experience! Thank you!!
I agree with you and appreciate you sharing the perspective! Thank you for watching!

Grew up in Greeley, graduated H.S. in Aurora but glad to say I left the Denver area 10 years ago and Colorado 6 years ago. No, looking back it has become California East.
Can’t say that isn’t a common thought for a lot of people. Where do you call home now?

In greeley rn . Everything is crazy expensive especially the cost of living
Thinking of going to Texas or Alabama
How’s the change of scenery
I've lived in Denver all my life, and even just 10 years ago the traffic wasn't anywhere near as bad as it is now.
10 years ago I used to be able to drive from Cap Hill to the Tech Center - *during rush hour* - in about 20 minutes, and now that same commute can easily take 40 minutes to an hour - it's absolutely crazy.
Crime is also been increasing year-on-year, with Denver now having a 136% higher crime rate over this past year compared to the national average.
There’s definitely been a ton of change the last decade, and not all of it good. I appreciate you watching and for the input!
Cities need to realize they can’t keep taking in illegal immigrants by the millions and expect to not have any quality of life go significantly down
Yeah that traffic thing.
Not for me.
I respect that, and appreciate your perspective! Denver has changed a lot over the years and many of the changes have not been for the better.
Where do you live now?

I really appreciate the perspective - it is always helpful to get first hand experiences! Thank you for watching!

Hey man! these were great!
Thank you for sharing this information about Denver.

My friend smells it every time she goes to pick up her kid from school. People don't care they smoke it where ever they want.
16st has a cloud over it.

You Talking About Traffic...You Should Come To Houston!
I haven’t been yet - is it brutal?

@@destinationdenvercolorado Thank you so much! This is really helpful, and this video was awesome.
Our govenor is gay af & came from boulder. Bfing is the norm here now
Denver and the surrounding metro area is a VERY LGBTQ+ friendly!

A lot of the problems with Co have to do with development and exponential growth. This state simply couldn't handle the growth at the rate that it happened. It can take many years to build more roads, improve the ones that are decaying, widen current corridors, and expand where needed. This state simply doesn't have the resources to do that at the rate that it needs to happen. A lot of homeless people are victims of increases in rent prices. If they could do a max of $950 per month, and then their rent increases to $1,340 per month, they're then homeless if they can't get rental assistance.
Taxes, insurance and HOA/management fees will run the owner $700-plus per month in the Denver area. Sub-$1000 rent is a thing of the past.
One very big , but never talked about, unless you are driving to the mountains, there is nothing close or worth driving to, u have to fly to a destination.
Very good point, you can feel very isolated! Thanks for the perspective!
Last year Denver was rated as the No.1 renters market in the nation
You must of missed that.
@@tomneff7030 - I appreciate you for sharing that with me, I’ll take that into account when I make an updated video.
is denver cold
Denver definitely has it's cold months, but it depends on what cold means to someone. People coming from warm climates might be thrown off by our winters, but people coming here from colder climates like the US Midwest tend to think its very mild here. Thank you for watching!
Compared to the Midwest, it's very mild
For some reason I never liked Denver - never lived there but it just never appealed to me. To me the only sport that belongs there are the Broncos but with their old "D" helmuts.
First - I agree with your Broncos and the D logo - and I think a lot of locals would too. I get where you are coming from as far as not living here, Denver certainly isn't a fit for everyone. Some love it, some hate it, and most fall somewhere in between. I appreciate you watching!
The weather in Denver sounds like crack head version of Alabama weather😂
Haha, I bet it gets HOT down there!
Couldn’t be worse than Miami traffic 😂
Traffic is annoying here, but it's not brutal like it is in Miami, NY or L.A.!
When I moved out here, my uncle told me to learn the side streets. DO NOT RELY ON THE INTERSTATES all the time. If you value your time, side streets
That whole state is insane. I would get out of there.
@@thomasallen6980 for a guy who doesn’t seem to like Denver, you watch a lot of videos about Denver. Haha. I appreciate it though!
@@destinationdenvercoloradoin Chicago 7 miles can take 45 minutes
Quit put in Denver down! Denver Colorado it's not a bad place to live is how you make it wherever you live at
I agree with you, it’s all about what you make it! Thanks for watching!
Visit Philippines to see real traffic 😁
Haha, I don’t doubt that! Appreciate you watching!!
Philippines? Come to Mexico City if you wanna see real traffic! 😂 💯
Why would you go to a city where motels threaten to kill you?
As one born in Denver 55 years ago there is definitely gentrification in Denver. However, in the suburban area of the city of Aurora just east of Denver there is a nice balance of diversity. The city nickname is “the World in a city” with almost a quarter of residents being born in a different country and almost 100 languages spoken it’s definitely more diversified.
Admittedly I had never heard that nickname before - I like it very much - thank you for sharing that!
I have never heard Aurora referred to as “the World in a city” and I work in Aurora. Most people call it Saudi Aurora...

37K reasons to not move to Denver if you don't see this video!!
You're a massive reason for it - thank you my friend!
But. But. Im living at denver
How do you like it so far?
Definitely gonna smell weed everywhere you go no questions asked. Whether its from a grow warehouse, dispensary, or people smoking or just having weed on them its constant. So just be aware its a normal everyday thing here. Has been for years so if you don't smoke bud at least be accepting of it because you won't fit in if not 💯 Weed shops are everywhere there's a liquor store and head shop 😂😂😂
Healthcare is high there? One of the most healthiest states? That's wild! 😂😂😂
Haha, go figure, right!? Thank you for watching!!
I moved out of Denver There are so many better communities in Colorado
I recommend moving to Boulder where the governor and his husband live. The governor's mansion in Denver just wasn't good enough and after taking a look at the mansion and surrounding cesspool of a city; one can hardly blame the multimillionaire puppet.
👀

Lots of fees now for things that were free !
Diversity includes a lot more characteristics than color.
I do not mind a lack of diversity.
We are all allowed an opinion - I appreciate you watching!
Me either in fact I don’t like diversity it causes crime and this is coming from a black guy
The entire United States is getting too expensive to comfortably live in. Not the best country that we are constantly being told.

#12... don't listen to Elliot! Haha, all jokes aside, I appreciate you watching and for your perspective!
I am a Wyoming Native and we wish people from Denver would stop spending weekends here in Wyoming, taking our campsites. Live in Colorado, camp in Colorado.
The people here aren't great. There are cool people but man there are alot of not great peaople.
I’m sorry that’s been your experience, hopefully the good ones outweigh the bad!
Lack of diversity? 😆
It depends on where you are coming from, of course, but for people coming from larger cities like New York, L.A. or Miami - Denver is not even close to being as diverse.
@@destinationdenvercolorado it's definitely more a shit hole now. More diverse too. Same with those other places.
Coincidence?
After CA and NY, Denver is cheap!
Stay HOME !! Real Native ….. Gentrification is real ….. Vanilla 😊
Way too liberal !
False statement....The homeleness is not due to marijuana!!!
I didn’t say it was the cause, I said it was a part of the cause for our population spike which drove up costs. A lot of people moved here that cannot afford it.
If you are not here, don't come. If you are already here, leave and take 10 Texans and Californians with you.
You and my father would get along, Craig! All jokes aside, I appreciate you watching!
@@destinationdenvercolorado I enjoyed it. You do a great job on your posts. Thanks.
"Lack of diversity"? That comment alone made me not want to ever go to Denver again.... or listen to you.
If me saying Denver lacks a level of diversity that you might see in other major cities is upsetting to you - I don’t know what to tell you.
