When you assemble a PC with this case, you will definitely say what I said a few time "What the hell were they smoking when they designed this." Nice case but some real strange things happening. The double metal door in the back? I guess it can protect the PC from stray bullets. LOL

Incredibly detailed, exhaustive review, and very much appreciated!
The cable management analysis was especially useful, and I hope Corsair listens to your concerns. At $300+ USD, fit and finish expectations are understandably high, and it seems they dropped the ball a bit in this regard.
I also think Corsair includes too many plastic bits and bobs in their high end cases, and the 7000X is no exception. Although aluminum may not be practical for such a large chassis (a la the TJ07 and TJ11), even stamped steel is preferable to plastic panels.
A nice looking, high performance chassis nonetheless, and if I hadn't already committed to a smaller footprint Parvum M1.0 for my current build, I'd absolutely consider a 7000 (white, of course).

Thanks very much 😊 The cable management was great, as long as you didn't add any more cables. lol I wouldn't overlook the black case, the pictures really don't do it justice, especially with my shoddy camera work.
It's great to see Parvum are still going after they went through a difficult patch and almost disappeared. They've a good range of cases too.

I picked up a white one and then ordered the front bezel, I/0 panel and feet in black directly from Corsair to get a "storm trooper" color scheme and remove the gray plastic. I even tried ordering the airflow panels in black to see how they looked but they were out of stock on the front one.

I struggled with the shield re-install due to the bends required in the power and other cables coming off the motherboard. I mitigated the problem by locating (on Amazon) 90 degree connector for 24 as well as the other connectors on the right side ASUS ROG STRIX Gaming motherboard. I was able to reinstall the shield with a slight bulge only noticeable by close examination. Very pleased with that solution.

This case should provide more room then i will ever need moving on. I missed the old Full ATX's from the late 90's early 2000's. Pretty cool to see someone marketing them again.

Store your excess PSU cables up the side where the side mounted radiator would go. You can sip tie them to the right side of the calbe channel in that dead space area. I took that side mounted rad cut out tray completely out as well as the internal door, both of which would serve no funciton in my build and just take up space and add weight and get in the way.
To add a second Commander whatever box, double stack dit on top of the other one, so they are two units high double decker bus style.
Run your PWM connectors for the fans not into the Corsair Core boxes, but into 1to3 PWM cable splitters (ebay) and then into your motherboard PWM headers, so your UEFI BIOS fan control page controlles the fan speeds to a chart, not the iCUE software. Then your fans will run correctly at all times regardless if WIndows is booted or not running iCUe or not... like, if you're running Linux or soem other OS.

I have never changed my coolant unless there was a major component change and needed the loop taking apart, i even changed a PSU without dismantling a loop! lol If left alone and kept under 40C, with some good loop prep they can last years. if you're making a change of case anyway and you just fancy changing your cooking setuo because new things are cool and fun, then why not.

    • @MakinComputers
      @MakinComputers 3 года назад +1

considering the size it does seem a little amiss not to have that kind of feature, but the amount of people who'd use such a function is fairly small. Most luxe2/719 nuilds I've seen only have 1 system in and they look a bit lost in there. The 1000D had that feature and I highly suspect it's being kept for that flagship model and it's inevitable replacement.
Edit: There are still quite a lot of people who prefer a big case for tons of rad space or just because they think big is beautiful. i'm not normally a fan of big towers, but this does look stunning and if I was going for a full blown balls-out system it'd definitely be on the shortlist.

If this case will take AT LEAST three 420mm radiators at the same time, then I am VERY interested in buying one for my new custom water loop build - I am NOT a "fan" of 120mm fans - ten 140mm fans for me please.

    • @MakinComputers

I was disappointed that it didn't take 140s in the side. They wouldn't have needed to make the side mount that much bigger. Even if the side mount was restricted to 30mm thick rads, would still make a big difference to the cooling.

If the side plate is the same size as the front plate, and the front plate can take 120 or 140mm fans and upto 480mm radiators as well, then surely it would be incredibly easy to modify the side plate to just make it the same as the one on the front so you also have the option of a 420mm radiator there as well? As you say, I would want to mount three 420mm long 30mm thick radiators: 1 on the top, 1 on the side and 1 on the front all at the same time. Great video, and fingers crossed they listen to the feedback and make this small change - adding a few extra holes surely wont cost them anything? ;p

@@TimLongson Yeh I'll definitely pass it on. The 140mm fans pretty much fit in, was tempted to cable tie them in and try it, but as it didn't represent a realistic scenario for the end user (very few would be happy with my shoe-string bodges) it would be a bit false. The mount is a fairly simple stamped sheet piece by the looks of it, would only need maybe 5mm more room to accept most rads. Might be from carrying over parts from the 5000 for cost cutting? Disappointing though. Given the extra depth in the case, could shift that mount rearward away from the front mount for extra room.

@@aceberganabolic old fans can be noisy as the bearing has dried up, i had this problem with some EK vardars that had got clogged with dust and got horribly loud then died. also depends how you connected them, if they're running at full speed almost all fans are loud. if they're the sotck ones from an old h100i, they're probably some of the old SP120s, which weren't too bad, but sounds like they've had it,

Not large enough at the back. And can't use the drive cages. They are asking premium money but have provided a rubbish product. I can't buy it

Another chest, nothing new. Corsair is a good company, but no new ideas.

any suggestions? I'D LIKE a great case and better cable management for the PSU, he said it was a PITA. I'd like a beTTER design of the cable channels. he had great difficulty getting cables routed and for an expensive and large chassis, this is a non starter perhaps? I don't know but i'd like to know that the design thought of everything and this manufacturer did not. What design would you suggest? What about Lian Li No? i am just re-surfacing to get my mid-tower NZXT replaced. he had several "nightmares" with this damn thing. sO IF EVERYONE INCLUDING THE BUILDER could chime in. last question, would white or black be better? my current mid-tower NZXT 440 is white, so I'm used to it but could do either color. I'm so discouraged as far as the cable management PSU issues and other little irritations with this friggin case. all comments are welcome as i'd really rather to do this right the first time and thanks so much to all of you for reading my comments!!!
