A LITTLE FALL OF RAIN
ÉPONINE:
Don't you fret, M'sieur Marius, I don't feel any pain.
A little fall of rain can hardly hurt me now.
You're here, that's all I need to know.
And you will keep me safe.
And you will keep me close.
And rain will make the flowers grow.
MARIUS:
But you will live, 'Ponine, Dear God above.
If I could close your wounds with words of love.
ÉPONINE:
Just hold me now and let it be.
Shelter me, comfort me.
So don't you fret, M'sieur Marius, I don't feel any pain.
MARIUS & ÉPONINE
A little fall of rain can hardly hurt me (you) now.
MARIUS:
I'm here.
ÉPONINE:
That's all I need to know.
And you will keep me safe.
(And I will stay with you)
And you will keep me close.
(Till you are sleeping)
And rain
(And rain)
Will make the flowers
(Will make the flowers...)
MARIUS:
...grow.
Thanks for watching!!!
She knows the love is platonic, but in that moment, it's enough for her to know that he cares. He never pretends to love her romantically in this song.
Your profile pic haha
I absolutely agree. Why do y'all hate Marius for not loving Eponine? You can't choose who to love. Yes, I also like Eponine more than Cosette, but he did nothing bad!
"And rain will make the flowers-"
"Grow."
I can't even.
Hate that part but I love it, the specific part really chokes me up
"so you better run for cover, when the pup grows-"
her brother literally finishes her line at his death ;-;
Cecilia Viana the bit that always makes me cry is when she says that the sky begins to clear and I'm at rest, a breath away from where you are I've come home from so far
Anatine -up
It makes me sob
to think she gave her life for revolution and a guy who didn't even love her. That takes guts
Shonda whitley he might have loved her, but like a friend. Never romantically
He loved her in the purest sense. He loved her without any expectations. He loved her as a human. As a friend.
Earlier in the movie: "The blood of the martyrs will water the meadows of France"
Here: "And rain will make the flowers grow"
Connection?
i cried a little throughout the whole movie, but this was the scene that did it for me. i always cry on this scene.
Loving someone who doesn't notice/ think of you the same way, sucks. Especially if you're like... best friends and they love someone who's really close to you.
This scene is so emotional, I saw my friends who are in a youth club perform Les Mis and even then I cried at their version of this scene.
Me too
So true
never fails to make me cry
I almost cried during this scene. It was truly heartbreaking how she took a bullet for him even though he friend zoned her.
Meera Nadathur you ALMOST cried?! I CRIED FOR THE REST OF THE FILM!!!!
I’m bawling right now.
that bloody bastard!!! )))
Almost cried?
ALMOST???
So sad they didn't include Eponine's last words from the book. "And I think, Monsuier Marius, I might have been a little bit in love with you"
Let us all take a moment for our dear sister in the friend zone. (Hats off)
"Girls don't get friend zoned." they said.
They didn't include this on the Soundtrack. Are you fucking kidding me. Maybe the best song in the whole show.
Gavroche's tear, that's shed in the movie, is what gets me.
Gavroche was Eponine's brother. :p Just some background information.
Love
Me too :'/
Garvoches death was the hardest on me
@@Hannahgal11 yes
To all you people talking about "friend-zoning" there is another term for it. It's better sounding and it seems more appropriate. This wasn't "friend-zoning", it was unrequited love. And yes I cry every time this song makes me feel things that are sad.
i watched les miserables in the movie and it was almost only filled with women and when this scene came on we all cried like little babies. like everyone.
This actually sounds very nice
"'ponine"
why is it so much more emotional when he leaves out the e in her name?
A lamp. first of all TSM is bae!!! and I think it's because it's kind of like a nickname and makes it that much more personal which just twists the knife 😢
Ya if you noticed only montparnasse and Marius ever call her ponine. Not even her father. Only they actually loved eponine
Without me seeing the lyrics I actually thought Marius called Eponine "hunny" not "'ponine"
@@user-ww5hm8lu1w montparnasse loves eponine?
I was watching this movie with my brother and at this part he and I start bawling so hard we barely pay attention to the rest of the movie. Then after it's done we just went on you tube and searched for the song so we could cry all over again. Now he completely denies any of it ever happened
I know the feeling!
😂😂😂
As a man, I give myself full permission to cry every time I watch Les Miserables
It was pouring rain the night we had to rush my dog to the vet. He died while I was petting him and I know it's crazy, but this song always makes me think of my darling dog.
It isn't crazy. I think the same way with a specific song after my favourite horse was put down.
So sorry for your loss. 😢Not crazy AT ALL. I still remember the song God gave me when one of my favorite cats was dying.
I think the saddest part in the song is when Eponine barely finishes
I was literally whining loudly as I drowned in my own tears in this scene. It was so so sadd :(
Frienzoned to death...
so true.
She beber was there because She never told him that she was in love :(
@@Marderio_- She (never?) was there..? He was so blind.
This is the only part in the movie where I actually cried waterfalls. T_T
Literally sitting here in tears. The fact Eponine doesn't finish the song is just heart breaking. Samantha Barks is absolutely stunning, her voice is gorgeous.
les mis songs are the only ones that get me emotional
*gets a tissue* Shit, I think I got some bullet in my eye.
WHY?! JUST WHY?! THIS FEELING?! WHAT HAS IT DONE TO ME?!
So sad. Watching this is like losing a real friend. Like holding a friend of mine in my arms.
And rain let the flowers grow ...
~reassures friend that she will not die after being shot in hand and heart~
before reading les miz when I was watching this movie I thought Eponine and enjolras would get together. I shipped them
was I the only one?
+sarina khan I wrote a fanfic about that back before I discovered Enjolras and Grantaire.
I shipped it m8
I still ship it but I also acknowledge the fact that it is a pure crack ship because they have never talked in the book or musical. Also a vast majority of the fandom is very rude and vicious to those that like the idea of them together. I also ship Enjolras and Grantaire as well. And I also ship all three of them together as well
eponine is the best character... all I ever wanted was her to be happy 😭😭
I read a book called "A Little in Love" and it focusses on Eponine, Maruis, and Cosette's life. Eponine is the main character, and reading the death was so sad.
I kinda shipped Eponine with Enjolras.
I openly sobbed huge wracking sobs the first time I saw this scene in the theater.
I cried because I felt as much pain deep within my chest as she did. Poor Eponie.
Here’s the thing, yes he cares about her. Just not in the way she wanted him too. Not everyone is going to love you.
He loved her but only as a bestfriend. Where as she loved him more than a bestfriend, but never told him how she really felt. She took her true feelings for him to her grave. On top of that she got thé attention she wanted from Marius but it only took her getting shot nd dying to do so. Not to mention in that moment he realized she was in love with him.
This is so sad yet beautiful. Eponine has never truly been loved by anyone, not even her own parents. Marius is the only person to ever truly love her, although it's not in a romantic way, it is stronger and more powerful than that. It is true friendship that can never be broken by the hardships of the world. This song is so sad, yet it makes me smile because it gives me a sense of hope:)
DAMNIT, MARIUS.
The reason I love Eponine's character is the fact that she died to save the man she loves, not because it would have been horrible to live in a world where he doesn't love her back.
Brings tears to my eyes .
How sad is it that i can't press the keys on my phone bc te tears are blurring my vision
I've never took it the way you guys seem to. Yes she was "friend zoned" more so misunderstood) by the one she loved; however, she doesn't seem to be saying that this hurt her not because she's always been in pain. She's almost saying, in my opinion, that she cannot feel pain when she is in his arms. Clearly she WAS INDEED still in pain, but in his arms she was finally happy- finally seen.
I die at this part every freaking time
Cierra Evans so does she
hearing just the audio for this song is so much more powerful bc you can hear every struggle of breath, the intense emotion in the voices, every grunt, every heavy breath, every chocked back sob... honestly so raw and tragically beautiful...
you can definitely hear the affection in their voices and how much they care for one another..
Fun Fact:
Eponine thought it was raining because she was losing so much blood
I'm literally balling
I damn Marius to the blackest pit of Tartarus. He had the nerve to let eponine die in his arms pretending to love her, then 5 seconds later sends a love letter to cossette. Eponine was a pure soul who only wanted what we all want, the one thing we can't have....
He wasn't pretending. He did actually love her, but not in the way she wished he did. I haven't watched the movie yet, but I didn't see him sending a letter to Cosette five seconds after Eponine died in the play I went to.
In the book, she tells him for the first time with her dying breath she loves him and tells him to go and be happy with Cossette. In the book and 90% of the play performance, Eponine is the one who delivers the letter before she returns to the barricade
Would you rather he have thrown her off after she took the bullet for him and leave her to die alone and rejected?
He did love her, just not in a romantic way, he loved her like you love a sister, a best friend, or you dog. If your dog died, you wouldn't be pretending to love them, same with a sibling
I loved this so much ..... so moving so emotional and Sam has a lovely voice brings tears to my eyes every time ........ I could feel her pain and sorrow in every word .......... FANTASTIC.
Experienced les miserables for the first time yesterday with my hubby and when I say I was sobbing oh my god I was yelping lol, such a gorgeous and powerful film. Ponines death and fauntines, not to mention val jean. This movie knows how to make you cry.
It's amazing how I cry every time I listen to this.
This is the saddest and most beautiful duet ever! and I makes me cry every time I hear it or think about it :,(
The pictures make it even more sad. On a different video it's just one picture, but the multiple pictures make me think of the scene and how sad the whole thing was
I cried so hard at this part. She loved him so much. I cried so hard!!!
Amazing Samantha Barks!!
That always makes me crying...just as "On my own". I feel so related to Eponine.
I sang this at school one day.unknowing how many people were starring.to many damn feels were violated that day in the classroom.I was so surprised when I realised everybody starring at me.I was like :Oh shit!was I singing out loud?
Did everyone stand up and clap?
@@jasoncowan6137 I wish.
Best performance ever!!!! My favorite!!!!! Cast was unbelievably incredible. This is a musical I can watch over and over again and not get tired.
Me: "I'm gonna listen to Les Miz for a little studying music..."
3 hours later...
RUclips: "Muhahaha, you're never leaving my Les Miz section..."
the saddest part of les miserables
'I'm here' oh Eddie! Gets me every time! What a beautiful song, u go eponine!
this part literally killed me
So what's the Beyond like?
They left my favorite line in this song out of the movie. It drives me crazy! "I'll sleep in your embrace at last!"
Ahw and Gavroche crying in the end of this scene *___* broke my heart.
I'm crying like a bitch right now and everytime I listen to this.
Thank you, I listened to this about five times in a row. I sobbed every time.
aw man! musically, i LOVE salonga/ball's performance but these two do a great job with displaying the emotion, as with everyone else in the film.
she never gets to finish the song and i find it so brilliant how marius finishes it for her
the harmony on "I don't feel any pain" is beautiful
This song and on my own always make me cry, I love eponine
Best part is even she almost whispers.."Your here". A moment of intimacy on stage that is brillantly adapted on screen. I got chills watching it.
This never fails to make me cry. My favourite sony from Les Miserables, Samantha and Eddie are both beautiful singers:').
How beautiful, Just watched this film and I cried so much it hurt, cant wait to see a stage version.
I cried when I saw Gavroche cry! 😭✋ I need a moment
this song makes me wanna cry every time i listen to it ....such a beautiful song though
One of the saddest songs.....
I don't know why, but that first note on "rain" makes me cry every time.
So beautiful. Only word to describe this song.
owned the film on blueray for just over a week seen it at least 4 times already totally blown away wow amazing piece
I cry every time
When I saw it to the movies, I cried so much !! Nobody was crying and could hear me.. I cried louder than the music playing !
She should have won a reward, this bit and on my own always make me cry
This is the first "Broadway" show i saw at the Cadillac Palace theater in Chicago
Put it on replay 5 times and cried every single time
Listened/watched this 1000 times and I cry every time .__.
This movie made me cry so hard. It's so amazing, even though it's sad..this is one of my favorite scenes. Eponine is probably my favorite character.
Omg this is beautiful...She is so amazing and this is the best duet ever its so beautiful and I'm sobbing every time I watch this...or hear it...or think about it. It's beautiful.
finest performance of this piece i have ever heard - seen
this was published on my birthday. BUT I really do love this scene and this song so thanks for putting it up (and on my birthday too!!)
OMG im crying!!! i would rathly prefer that he stayed with Eoininei i like her more than cosette...ooh look there goes another one
Beautiful to the max~ I love this song. So emotional
She never got to finish the song!!!!
Its either this scene or the ending that made me cry the most
Love how she died in his arm, she died happy.. but yet, idk, this was so touching.
i cry watching this, they do it really well
one of the best musicals ever
I think it was done so beautifully , at the end , when he closes her eyes , because she spent her last few seconds looking at the man she loved...
My favorite part out of the whole movie I cried so hard in this part because she was one of my favorite characters OMG
This song makes me cry everytime i listen to it
HOW ONLY LISTENING THIS AUDIO I'M CRYING?!
WHAT BEAUTIFUL SAD MAGIC IS THIS? D":
This scene is the definition of beauty
I love this song and I love to two actors that are playing these to part in the movie.
this song always makes me cry
Ultimate optimism right there! "Rain will make the flowers grow"
I love this song so much.
You are a poet, Rain Day, you speek the truth of what Eponine wanted, love from Marius.
Why did she die? I like Eponine she's my fav character in the movie
A Government soldier was about to shoot Marius, and she took the bullet. The saddest death in the movie
Beauty Country Please. Her's is not the saddest death in the movie.
CoCoCat I concur.. But it was one of them. Lots of feels for her.
DOES NO ONE REMEMBER GAVROCHE?! I cried like a baby when they shot him.... T_T
This song literally brought tears to my eyes
