And when she performed this, she didn't have her own child yet. Yet she captured the love and emotion of a mother so perfectly. She said in an interview that had she been a mom before she was cast in this show, she would have captured it even more. It's hard to imagine how she would outdo her own superb performance.

You who I cradled in my arms
You, asking as little as you can
Little snip of a little man
I know I'd give my life for you
You didn't ask me to be born
You, why should you learn of war or pain?
To make sure you're not hurt again
I swear I'll give my life for you
I've tasted love beyond all fear
And you should know it's love
    That brought you here
    And in one perfect night
When the stars burned like new
I knew what I must do
I'll give you a million things I'll never own
I'll give you a world to conquer when you're grown
You will be who you want to be
You can choose whatever heaven grants
As long as you can have your chance
I swear I'll give my life for you
    Sometimes I wake up
    Reaching for him
I feel his shadow brush my head
But there's just moonlight on my bed
Was he a ghost, was he a lie?
That made my body laugh and cry?
Then by my side the proof I see
His little one, gods of the sun
    Bring him to me!
You will be who you want to be
You, can choose whatever heaven grants
As long as you can have your chance
I swear I'll give my life for you
No one can stop what I must do
I swear I'll give my life for you!
    No grace, no hope
    No life, no hope
No chance, no change (no regrets)
No grace, no hope (no return, no goodbye)
No life, no hope (no regrets, no return)
No chance, no change (no goodbye, no regrets)
One day (no return) one night (no goodbye)
One day (no regrets) one night (no return)
One day (no goodbye) one night (no regrets)
    One day!

My god, the way she goes from looking lovingly at her son, to looking away determined, and then to hear that ominous music, ugh.....it's the most powerful thing I've ever seen on stage.

The whole play was uploaded 3 or 4 years ago. Then idiots rush to chop the show into bits and pieces and pretend like they own the copies. Somehow all those videos got reported. So it took years before they resurface. The whole video which was available for months was gone.

There's just something about a non English speaking actress playing Kim that gives it a far superior level of understanding. Lea may not have known what it was to be a mother but she had a far superior understanding than any American actress that has ever played the role. At 18, She knew exactly what Asian parents gave up to have their kids live an American life.
