Great looking woodstove. I love my Cubic Mini... absolute game changer, use it almost every single night. Cozy and no electricity required. Around BC Canada a low roof is important due to low hanging branches on FSRs. Nearly ripped off my roof vent many times. Anyway awesome build and safe travels 👍
Your living my dream I will never have the aportunity to experience what you see and do your a lucky man count your blessings I live day to day on public assistance even I work full time and still struggle I’m glad Simone doing it
After 8 years of watching you on RUclips, I absolutely love seeing you evolve in so many ways. I clearly remember the very first video you made after purchasing Sasquatch, it wasn't pretty lol but what you've made Sasquatch into today is so badass. I love the constant evolving and building as you see it needed. I look forward to seeing Sasquatch after the new updates. Cheers Jason.
You are going to really like the hightop . My wife insisted on one for our e350 . Done by Tufport in Delta BC, one day in and out. It took some time to realize that this was done and found myself ducking while in the van and feeling rather silly since I could stand upright. Great choice 👍
My proyect is an Iveco Daily 4x4 low roof and you were my reference to keep it low. Now, you change to high roof and the reasons you have shared are logical. Thank you for sharing.
Your van has always been the way I want to build a van for the wife and I for vacations. With the addition of the high top just add to the way I want mine to look when done.
Us tall guys really appreciate standing up inside. It really does make life better. I’m still trying to find a good shop in Oregon to do a full-body bedliner paint on my new rig. Line-X gave me a quote of $17k to $20k which isn’t even close to my funding it. The search goes on. Fair Winds.
@@JimJones-gd2jy - yes I fully agree. My current camper van was done in Raptor. Two undercoats and three on top. Tree limbs scraping along it don’t ever leave a rub mark. I had to find people for each individual portion of the job and had a total cost for: sanders, tapers, spray booth rental, sprayer, finisher, and paint/materials, ran under $2.5k a few years ago. I just acquired what I hope is my Goldilocks RV between the 19’ camper van and my 29’ Bigfoot. It’s getting its 4x4 conversion in August, and I’m hoping to have it bedliner’d before then. Fair Winds.
Wow, thats expensive. I have seen people doing it themselves with rollers, don’t really know from up close if it gets a nice finish. But paying 20,000 usd is not an option. Good luck.
@@justacarfan - well, I stopped by their office to discuss the project and found them unapologetic and really didn’t want to do an older vehicle. Saying they work with industrial applications and new car dealers mostly (sponging the cost into a car loan) for wannabe urban adventure vehicles that never leave pavement. It’s an international company selling franchises with a high end marketing plan. Too rich for those of us pulling out our own cash to pay for their ‘life time warranty’. I’ll get some more Raptor off Amazon and bedliner my Goldilocks RV on the cheap again. Fair Winds.
I absolutely love the plans for the van! The look and smell are going to be amazing and I think it finishes off the mobile wood cabin feel. Should be inspiring for your creativity too. Can’t wait!
We, as a bipedal species walk upright and spend a great amount of our time being upright, which is why I am always surprised that people decide to live in circumstances in which they are unable to stand upright! Your health and quality of life will improve simply by you being able to stand normally in your Travel Cabin! I'm surprised that you chose to deny yourself that ability for so long! Your lovely stove and high top roof will transform your living in your Travel Cabin, and I wish you every enjoyment it brings.
Love the idea of a small wood stove. One drawback I see from the size is that you will constantly be feeding it. I have a small backpacking twig stove that has the same problem. It works, but requires constant attention.
I've always felt that anyone who lives in their van full time should have a high top installed. Especially if they are taller than average or getting toward senior status. The constant bending to move around the inside and having to sit all the time will cause knee and lower back issues. Can't wait to see what that cedar looks like when done. It should be amazing.
Jason, I totally understand why you're putting on a high top but you currently have the coolest most bad ass van that I've ever seen! I can't wait to see the new updated. SCATCH.
Suggestion Put a camera on the front top so you can see if tree crash is imminent. And/or antenna/flag at roof top maximum. Review Foresty Forest wood stove removable flue/chimney cap. Proper chimney height is critical for efficient flow of exhaust/smoke.
Kinda like the idea of the stock height van but it’s understandable Jason! Cannot wait to see the new overland rig, would love to do a fans camp out someday!
Dude you will love this! I have a cubic Grizzly. Things are powerhouses!! I live in the inland NW and this thing is going to be a game changer for you.
Cannot wait to see your van with the high top, I think it’s going to absolutely look awesome. I have a 97 dodge build I’m working on now, and it’s completely encased in cedar on the interior. The paint job on it is inspired by Sasquatch as I loved the look of your van on this channel. Can’t wait to see the awesome work these professionals get done! 🏔🚐
Best of luck with your changes. Looking forward to the new adventures. Sounds like this will be more of a base camp. Then do serious trips with a smaller rig.
After driving a high top van in Seattle across bridges..never, ever again. Also drive south through Idaho to get to Moab. The winds on my raised Subaru Crosstrek can be scary. But there’s always a trade off. Sounds like you’re cool with that. Wish you the best!
Awesome ideas, Jason. Excited to see the results of everyone's efforts, mostly yours, of course. I especially love the idea of the ship lap panels. I thought about doing it in my van and looked at panels in Home Depot in Stockton, California. I also thought of redoing my wood roof rack with 2X4's so as to have a sundeck. I saw a small stove set up in Foresty Forest's van...such a cool (heating) idea.
Hay Jason, I have a 98 Jeep Cherokee Sport that I use to go camping in. But your high mite be a problem, I'm 6'1". From the right front seat has to be all the way forward to sleep in the car. !!! If you go with a roof Top tent it will be a nimble, and alot Easier on gas. I get around 25 mph and run about 350 on a tank of gas. This is only my ideal. I travel all over the mountains here on the east coast. I enjoy watching your videos. Dennis from Delaware U.S.A 😊🙂😉😆👍👍 P.S I'll send you some photos of my 98 Jeep, Dennis from Delaware U.S.A
DONT forget to have them beef up from the underside with steel so you can walk on the roof. This also keeps the outer cleaner with much less wind turbulence (i have a 2011 5.4 wheel chair van here with no supports) and the challenge of an external roof rack originating from the gutters UP the sides, OVER the top is such a PAIN!! Add to that I would want it rustproof (stainless steel) makes it costly, non aerodynamic, and JUST A PAIN!! All the ambos (1995/1999 7.3, and 2014 v10s) i have are seriously beefed on the INSIDE. Some of my extra rigs are for sale on FB.
I don't know how you've gone as long as you have without a hightop. I'm 5/9" and couldn't handle not being able to stand up. 😒 I've been running a cubic grizzly for a few years now and these little stoves will run you out of the truck. Good luck with that dwarf. They look like nice stoves. Make sure you burn dry wood in these little stoves. They blacken up pretty quick. Best things I've found to burn is compressed fire blocks. They burn hot, clean, and long. Unfortunately, they aren't free like wood on the trail. They are handy to have a few though on board for the stove 😆
Your approach to a smaller bang around rig is/will be my approach. I have to cover 2000 miles just to get out west. Gonna do a build a 1995 7.3 4x4 cutaway (its a dually singled out on 19.5s) cab is extra depth by 10" and extra height (fiberglass roof extension) so extra expanded space and 4x4 for boondocking enroute. If I have an "incident" I can get my CJ or XJ towed back to "base" and trailer it home. I will build a light skelton trailer for jeep and moto.
Damn, I’ve been watching Jason forever and never knew he’s 6’4 😂. Bruh I feel you. I’m 6’1 and a paramedic and work in the back of RA’s 😂…. If I was 3 inches taller just kill me. I’m already suffering… get that high top brougham hahah and never look back! I’m late to the game here since this video is old but damn it I’m going to comment anyways. Besides, we share the same name so there’s a kinship here 🤘🏾👊🏾
I had a Ford Econoline I was trying to build into a Camper Van till I realized I couldn't get a Camper Top for them anymore because all the Manufacturers stopped making them due to the number of Transit based vans that already have High Top Roofs.
so why a hard top vs soft top pop kind (outside of the wood stove) they do say your 3 build will be more to your liking the picture you showed with the high top look nice. make sure you know how tall van will be with the new top be for your next tow.
A permanent hi top vs something like the Sportsmobile pop up hi top??? Just having that lower vehicle COG when you are out on the trail, then popping it up when you need it?
@Primal Outdoors - Camping and Overlanding, Jason, are your boots the Tactical Research Mini-Mil TR105 8" Boots? They look similar if they're not. And if they're not, what brand are they?

I had a Awesome high top Ford Van when I was younger.Put a $3,000 stereo system in it we would CRANK THE HANK IN THE BACKWOODS 😎🤙🤘

Going to be cool. The only thing I recommend is put your wood stove lower. Up to high and the floor never gets warm.

Will you actually be able to stand in it.. you’ll love having a wood stove, they are the bomb!!
Have a 6’ ladder and reliable chainsaw for clearing overgrowth. As for “loading” firewood on the roof ? That (was) a sweet feature.
If he can melt the woodstove download that would be nice that way you can dry off your boots and stuff
After watching Several Snow Camping videos, I Always Thought having a Wood Furnace in All Types of RV / Motorhome vehicles....
Its a hard choice to build for overlanding. Small and nimble or big and comfortable. Building both can be expensive.
