Great Video! Thanks. As a man who is about to embark on retirement and van life I'm very happy to be able to get the high roof extended transit, I mean it's the perfect vehicle for RV conversion. However we all know that there is no comparison between the econoline and transit but hanks for trying. Simply put the transit is poossy unibrow euro eco trash. Econoline is strong beefy American goodness!
The E-Series is perfect for me. I currently own two. 1998 E-Super Duty (early name for the E450) with the 6.8L V10 2000 E150 with the little 4.2L V6 The only thing I dislike on my E450 is the lack of a parking brake for the Dana-80. The driveline brake doesn't work all that great. I'll never own a Transit. The drivers door is the main reason why I won't give it a chance. I want a full window opening like the E-Series or at least a large window opening and a functional vent window like all the 3rd gen Econoline vans I've owned.
@@angsta22 The 3rd gen had the functional vent windows. The 4th gen doesn't have the vent windows but has a full window opening. The Transit has a tall narrow window opening and a fixed glass for the forward quarter glass. And the bottom slopes down toward the front. Driven several Transit vans and want to like them, but I just don't.
Ha! Smiles per gallon! You got me right there. Have owned three Econolines. Still have my 2002. Coming up on 300,000 Smiles. Love it's Triton 5.4 Converted two other extended to campers. Now im looking for a fourth to convert and I'll want you to put a 5" lift kit on it. Great Ford product.

That's how nice is set up, I can't go wrong with what I have now, very happy with it!, purchase this van under 93000 miles and just remove the thermostat a week ago and loving it! ,didn't have any issues yet and it's about 110000 miles with still factory parts, only belt and thermostat so far.
My 350 extended is a beast! Last night I parked next to a giant transit and was shocked! It was longer and taller? But only had a 6 cyl. Towing anybody?
and make sure you have no CEL codes.. quite a few of them will kill mpg.. and vacuum leaks if the 14 still has that for heater controls, they will make it run like crap
My 2004 E350 Ext cargo 6.0 diesel van gets up to 22 mpg, I've got the atlas 80 FICM Tune and a 4" straight pipe with 356,700 k flys the interstate like a Peterbilt!
Which Van is best if you are trying to keep it at or under 82 inchs in Outside Height and 80inchs Wide? For Parking is all I have room for. Im having a hard time figuruing out which one as Specs are all over the place. Depending on the Web site for some reason.
having a hard time choosing my next work van. transit 350 3.5EB box truck vs the e350 7.3 godzilla box truck. buying basically brand new under 15,000 miles. will be doing a lot of plumbing work and hauling a small excavator but not as much. wondering if the 10 speed mpg savings will matter as much as the simplicity of the 6 speed over the span of 200,000 miles of its lifetime.
I have a 5.8L v8 e150, but is a 1993 conversion van, anyone know why there are different motors? and why is the reason of that? is not the oficial motor that the van have of fabric but is put there by the company that made the conversion? I need answers, please!!

Thanks for a great video. I love my 1999 Ford Econoline E350 super duty van with 202,000 miles on the odometer. She starts first time, every time. She cruises at 80 mph all day, hitting limiter at 95. I call her Ol' Trusty Too. I replaced these items: springs, shackles, shocks, upper and lower ball joints, kingpins, tie rods, steering gear, rotors, calipers, Goodyear radials, radiator, alternator, nickel rust-proof nickle brake lines, intake manifold gasket, coil wires, plugs. This vehicle's stance indicates competence and capability. She cruises like a Chevrolet Suburban or a Ford Expedition. With a 3.79 differential ratio.. 1,750 rpm at 60 mph -- effortless interstate cruising with sufficient power to tow a fully loaded double-axle U-Haul above interstate speeds all day long, with no oil pressure or coolant heat problems in the 5.4 2 valve V8. Ford vehicles have excellent, safe driver visuals. The side windows dip low, the windshield is wide and tall. Chassis and inside, outside trim and body integrity are the best in the industry. The 25 year old headlights shine straight and true, and do not vibrate in their mounts. Obviously the electric system is A-1 for these headlights to have lasted this long. Ford light trucks are the best in the business. Detroit Iron Forever!

As a owner operator you have to have a newer 148wb high roof van to get contracts. If I was buying a van for my self to work on I'd get something else.
They're both pretty good, i drove a 2006 Econoline at work and its a solid vehicle, my dad has a 2015 transit it drives very nice and has been pretty reliable, besides some fuel pump gremlins because it's a first year Transit.
Inquired about getting some stuff for my Dodge Ram 1500 Van but was told that they don’t have nothing for my Van, very surprised and disappointed cause I presumed they were top notch as custom fabricators and honestly feel that they’re missing a great opportunity for all of us Dodge Van owners that would’ve done business with them 💯% 👍👍☮️
Call me crazy but I love the 4.9L / 300 straight 6. Sure, not a ton of horsepower, but totally bulletproof and lasts forever. I'm all for the E-series. I want an old-school vehicle I can actually wrench on myself. Not something that requires a degree from MIT just to change the oil.
I’ve got a 2013 E150/E250. I do expedite shipping and run it like a dog. It is about to turn over 300,000 miles and runs great. The body and frame are in excellent shape and if the motor ever blows I’m just going to rebuild it. The payload and towing capacities are very similar between the E Series and the Transit but I’ve gone over the max payload in mine on a few occasions by quite a bit and it didn’t act any different. I’ve seen Transits buried with a ton in the back. Inmy opinion the E Series is much easier to do engine work on with the dog house in the cab. I’ve gone through 10 inches of snow with good tires no problem in it. The Transit is a great work vehicle as well but I’d probably opt for another E Series before I got a Transit.
@@videos10 as long as nothing major happens like a rod blowing out or something like that I’ll probably just rebuild. If I happen to come across an engine I may rebuild that and just swap that way I have less down time.
@@ritch_j I’ve had a Ford Transit on order since Mid October 2021…they aren’t building it yet either. I was debating between the GMC Savana and Ford Transit. I’m thinking I may regret the Transit…if it ever gets built.

@@JimJones-gd2jy There is a good chance my Ford Transit will get “Unscheduled - Balanced Out” (aka not built). If that happens I think I will order a 3500 GMC Savana with the 6.6L engine. I’d prefer the body on frame with 10k towing.

In the UK the Transit is literally a by-word for vans. Most people will just refer to any van as a transit. That's how much of an impact that Van has had over here.
Jeremy Johnson has enlightened me regarding the history of the E-Series and Transit, and I thank him. That said, I think at last count, I have had fourteen E-Series vans from 1974 through the last, and current E-150 of 2013. Worked at Ford Body Engineering for 26 years, and had a pretty current model most of the time. 240cid's through 460's. Tricked many of them out with interiors and drive trains. Used them for camping, hauling race sailing catamarans, tournament ski boats, dirt bikes, scuba diving, hauling windsurf, hang gliding, mountain and road biking equipment, electrical, plumbing, framing, welding, trades, aviation related maintenance, towing agricultural equipment, sailplanes, kiteboarding, snow kite skiing, wind foiling, etc. My new 2022 Tranny is said to be in transit from production to the dealer as we speak. Guess I'm gonna find out pretty quick how the low-roof shrew compares to those bad-ass buggies of the past. Thanks again for the creative reflections on the models, Jeremy.
Ive been driving them since 1994. Best vans ever. I think for the price of a new transit I might just channel my inner Cuban and patch up this 2002. Any chance your doing patch panel tutorials? :) Only 120k now.
I had a 2000 e 150 low top conversion with a 4.6 that got about 20 mpg on the highway. Also, the video never even mentions the 4.2l. I have a 99 hi top conversion with the 4.2 (unfortunately)
I own a 2013 E150 XLT Premuim van. It has every option available from the factory in 2013. It is a gem. Tows our 2019 Airstream Flying Cloud 25' trailer like a champ. 8600 LBS Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. Rated to tow 7000 LBS. All in great comfortable leather interior. The Transit Wagon (van with full factory interior) sucks as a tow vehicle. No frame, rated to tow less than 5000 LBS, tiny brakes compared to the E Series. The old school E Series vans are tough as nails. Ask any commercial user. Takes a beating and asks for more. Parts are available everywhere and they are easy to work on. Enough said.
Exactly! The new Transit sucks as a tow vehicle and it makes me sick 🤢. I was hoping to tow my boat and only need 5k towing but that would max out the Transit
97' 7.3PSD Econoline 350 vs 21' 3.5EB Transit MR, transit tows way better hands down. More usable power, never look at the gauges, stability for trailer and crosswind. My 97 had a tuner and a built trans, and this transit still walks it everywhere.

Well put STAH.... so much to love about the American GOODNESS..
The E-Series is perfect for me. I currently own two.
1998 E-Super Duty (early name for the E450) with the 6.8L V10
2000 E150 with the little 4.2L V6
The only thing I dislike on my E450 is the lack of a parking brake for the Dana-80. The driveline brake doesn't work all that great.
I'll never own a Transit. The drivers door is the main reason why I won't give it a chance. I want a full window opening like the E-Series or at least a large window opening and a functional vent window like all the 3rd gen Econoline vans I've owned.
what's wrong with the transit window? it looks plenty big to me.. my work e250 has no vent windows and the bosses 350 doesn't either.
Why do you even need a parking brake?
@@jeepcollector91 window full or split is less of a problem compared to the tranny issues Transits have
I hate the transit window as well.... LOL
With class c/B RV choices, which one do you recommend?
Sprinter Mercedes
RAM
Ford Transit?
Thanks
Great video
How do you fix the uneven tire ware on e150?
Always like and comment on good videos.👍
I have a 2007 E350 with the 5.4 and yes sucks a lot of gas but I love it so far is been a super good van, I tow with it few times a small toy hauler and even that is loaded with tools for my business over 2500lbs it pulled nicely, I put a awning on it to use when camping etc and if you see this van in the cargo area I will say is the only van like that because I set it neat and everything is Milwaukee packout drawers etc ,I can called my Milwaukee van!
The Canadian version of the 60-67 Ford Econoline is the Mercury Econoline.
Awesome Video and editing!!
I love my 14 E350……but I’m not gonna lie…the MPG is hard to ignore these days.
and make sure you have no CEL codes.. quite a few of them will kill mpg.. and vacuum leaks if the 14 still has that for heater controls, they will make it run like crap
Thank you so much for liking this video! MPG is something nowadays.
My 2004 E350 Ext cargo 6.0 diesel van gets up to 22 mpg, I've got the atlas 80 FICM Tune and a 4" straight pipe with 356,700 k flys the interstate like a Peterbilt!
Great video! Like the effort 👌
All of us at the shop really appreciate you watching the video. You watching our content helps us to make more videos like this! Thanks!
I been driving econolines for almost 3 decades!!!! 👍 🇺🇸
a true work horse of a van!
Me too. 1990 e350 extended with the 460 V8 and now 2003 e350 extended with the v10. I love the v10.
This video looks well done
Why in the world would ford stope making e250 vans of it was their best sellers?????????
they actually sell more transits?
Great video I am looking into getting the transit 2016
Which Van is best if you are trying to keep it at or under 82 inchs in Outside Height and 80inchs Wide? For Parking is all I have room for. Im having a hard time figuruing out which one as Specs are all over the place. Depending on the Web site for some reason.
A chevy express.... ? have you considered that?
@@WeldtecDesigns I ll check that out now. Thanks!
having a hard time choosing my next work van. transit 350 3.5EB box truck vs the e350 7.3 godzilla box truck. buying basically brand new under 15,000 miles. will be doing a lot of plumbing work and hauling a small excavator but not as much. wondering if the 10 speed mpg savings will matter as much as the simplicity of the 6 speed over the span of 200,000 miles of its lifetime.
I Beam 4 Life... and ease up on the Redbull JJ. Awesome info!
You've got my attention and I'm just lustin for more! How does the transit work out in comparison to the Econo line in 2023??
We will let you know as we just a 2023 AWD Ford Transit to start the testing!
Thanks for a great informative video
Nothing but the best for our viewers! It's all about bringing the best videos with the best information!
I have a 5.8L v8 e150, but is a 1993 conversion van, anyone know why there are different motors? and why is the reason of that? is not the oficial motor that the van have of fabric but is put there by the company that made the conversion? I need answers, please!!
Amazing video! I'd definitely chooses the Ecoline for me.
Econoline can pull 5 of those transits ) .. while transit barely pulls it self only untill 60K when it tranny goes south
That would be a fun video!
Looks like your not alone ^^^^^
This video is really good thank you
i owned 7 Ford econolines...75 to 95....from 351 , 300 six....302.....in 2015 i bought a new T 250 mid roof 3.7 non turbo......the Transit has given more problems...that all 7 Econolines...while i like the heights...lengths and handling of Transit....but cant keep brakes on it...28,000 miles.never pulls a trailer even though it got trailer towing package....under gross vehicle weight...they didnt update brakes pads look like car typle...,,now is a good time to mention you have to pull rear axles out to replace rear rotors and brakes...costly......hard to work on ...try changing automatic transmission fluid in one..as far as engines...when empty the 3.7 is a little better on gas...but when loaded no better than 351 v8...i wish Ford had kept chasis and engines of the Econolines...and make mid and hi roof editions of it....also just read on all these sites how bad direct injection clogging intake valves...and cam phasers...and chainging are ware out on these new engines...something never had to worry about with Econolines..
So... If you want a bullet prof van, get an E-series. If you need tall roof and better mpg, get a transit
I have an 05 E350 6.0 for my small business it has been a great vehicle and grown my business by 70 percent.
Wow amazing history lesson on the Ford E-Series vs the Transit that's now a unibody construction
Do you have lift kits for the 2022 Transit 350 upfitter model.
Yes it should be the same as the regular 350 suspension?
How many pallets does a 1997 ford e250 can hold 1 or 2 ? Random question
Are the pallets empty or full?
@@WeldtecDesigns with freight on it
My 2003 e250 v6 has 302k and running strong just did the rear main seal and it’s back on the road again
Detroit Iron Forever!
what about cargo capacity, which can handle higher weight capacity ?transit or the E- series ( in terms of the 250 not 150)
Great! Can’t wait to see more.
Great Video
Please am in Ghana 🇬🇭 we use ford e series much i love ford so much because of its safety ford has be in its safety for over 48 years no car manufacture company can compete you the ford company still strong
Jeremy I’m looking for an extra long E350 or E450. Let me know if you come across any or if some one doesn’t pick up their van.
Awesome information!
Just help me know that the E-series is the best choice for me or I should say confirm it that it is
The E-Series is going to be my fav as well!
I would really love to see a ford econoline in the wild, especially the fourth generation. bonus points if it's a box truck!
My 4.6 is a sweet motor an I’m getting about 18 mpg
Does the Ford Transit Van have RWD or FWD? Thanks.
Rear wheel , the bigger one has a Dana 80.
As a owner operator you have to have a newer 148wb high roof van to get contracts. If I was buying a van for my self to work on I'd get something else.
really good video...
Thanks a ton! We really appreciate your time and giving us a comment!
They're both pretty good, i drove a 2006 Econoline at work and its a solid vehicle, my dad has a 2015 transit it drives very nice and has been pretty reliable, besides some fuel pump gremlins because it's a first year Transit.
Awesome video.
Thanks for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Great information, thanks
Not a problem at all, glad the video was informative and that you enjoyed it!
Does the transit has more interior room?
Good video, how about econoline vs sprinter?
Great suggestion! who has a sprinter van that we can compare?

Correction: 1995 - 2003 = E Series with 7.3 Power Stroke Turbo Diesel.
It is awesome to hear all these great E-Series stories. Thanks for sharing.
Do you think rebuilding the engine would be better than an engine swap?. I'm in the same situation as you
@@videos10 as long as nothing major happens like a rod blowing out or something like that I’ll probably just rebuild. If I happen to come across an engine I may rebuild that and just swap that way I have less down time.
I’d also enjoy a GMC Savana vs Ford Transit as you can purchase both new (until GM changes the Savana to who knows what).
tried ordering a GMC Savana, there just not building them yet.
@@ritch_j I’ve had a Ford Transit on order since Mid October 2021…they aren’t building it yet either. I was debating between the GMC Savana and Ford Transit. I’m thinking I may regret the Transit…if it ever gets built.
I ordered a new GMC Savana with the new 6.6l 400 hp small block last July ! It just got built, and being shipped to SoCal. Why ? I wanted a new gmc van to do my build, afraid the van may be discontinued in the future.
@@JimJones-gd2jy There is a good chance my Ford Transit will get “Unscheduled - Balanced Out” (aka not built). If that happens I think I will order a 3500 GMC Savana with the 6.6L engine. I’d prefer the body on frame with 10k towing.
@@DanOnWheels yah man! I just ordered my Chevy express 6.6 with all the bells and whistles after being rejected on the transit ordering. Saved 20k and I’m getting body on frame with that towing. I’m so excited. Hopefully it’ll actually be built quickly
Hey my 3.7 may only have 275 hp, but she has 310k on the clock and I have towed so many vehicles on my car hauler.. broken 😂 towed a 6.0 E series to my friends house
Not surprising as 6.0s are garbage
I have a 2020 Ford Transit all wheel drive and love it , mainly because it's less maintenance than Mercedes Benz sprinter 4×4. I would love to see an all-wheel drive with a lift kit going up against an E-Series with a 4x4 kit on it
We would love to see those two go head to head!
In the UK the Transit is literally a by-word for vans. Most people will just refer to any van as a transit. That's how much of an impact that Van has had over here.
Same in Argentina. Transit and Sprinters were in the market for ages. Both produced in the country.
Thanks so much for your kind words! glad you like the video.
I am with you, wish you could still get them new.
Exactly! The new Transit sucks as a tow vehicle and it makes me sick 🤢. I was hoping to tow my boat and only need 5k towing but that would max out the Transit
Possibly looking to get 7.3 eseries box ambulance in the future for a camper build.
We are building one now in the shop, i will try to do a video on it.
Econo van for me!✌🏽
Looks like your not the only one!
97' 7.3PSD Econoline 350 vs 21' 3.5EB Transit MR, transit tows way better hands down. More usable power, never look at the gauges, stability for trailer and crosswind. My 97 had a tuner and a built trans, and this transit still walks it everywhere.
Ford e series is perfect👍🏼
Jeremy,
Myself and my wife love you and the mecca of suspension design and performance as far as we are concerned.
We bought a 2023 Coahnen Crosstrail 23XG and live in it and wow my friend wow.
We had to have the 7.3 on the Eseries super duty chassis and were a millisecond away from pulling trigger on the 8k package lift last year but life happened.
Blah blah blah as they say just buy the damn bike right💪😂
We are retired Military trail builders who hide from the winters up in southern Oregon where we build trails( had to stay in the dirt😂🤷♂️)so coming soon we will be coming to San Diego where trucks/vans go to grow up.
We are 12,500 all day and 9,800 in rear axle slapping some air bags on to get us through and sumo up front🤦♂️best we can do now.
We do hope this bajaness and testing has continued and we love the comedy so hurray Brother💪🪨🌵🌲⛰⚒️🏔️
