  • Personal views on Sikhism from several Brigham Young University-Idaho professors who traveled to The Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab, India for the first time in April 2012. For many on this trip, this was their first contact with Sikhs as a people and as a religion.

Really love Sikhi. I'm American and was raised in the conventional Christian tradition. Never really made sense though. Was an atheist, but at a certain point that just leads to cynicism and nihilism. I've always thought that everything is connected, that there's a unifying element to reality. Science says matter is energy, energy is neither created or destroyed...sounds like this God thing everyone keeps talking about. Never really found a clear representation of that though. Looked into yoga and Buddhism but they seem really complicated. Recently found Sikhi and it's like wow, that's it, so simple, so sweet, so awesome. Now I feel like I understand what Jesus and all these other religions are trying to communicate.
    Ek ongkar, Satnam, Waheguru!
Just sucks I don't speak Punjabi though.

There is ONE basic astonishing difference found from the study of ALL religions.
All Prophets and Gods, other than Sikh Gurus didn’t give any importance to wrote their religious scripture books themselves.
Sikh Scripture, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was written and compiled by Sikh Guru's themselves. and its ONLY scripture in the world that was written and compiled and checked by the prophets/Gods themselves.
Sikh Gurus in fact created a whole NEW LANGUAGE called Gurmukhi and even CREATED ALPHABETS from scratch to put SGGS divine teaching in writing themselves.
No other religious Book whether its
      1. Torah, Jewish religious book was not written by Moses the Jewish prophet.
      2. Bible, Christian religious book was not written by Jesus the Christian prophet.
      3. Quran, Muslim religious book was not written by Muhammad the Muslim prophet.
      4. Geeta, Hindu religious book was not written by Krishna the Hindu God, Ramayana was not written by Rama the Hindu God, Shiv puran and Vishnu puran are not written by Shiva and Vishnu the Hindu Gods.
      5. Pali and Mahayana Sutras, Buddhist religious books were not written by Gautam Buddha the Buddhist prophet.
      6. Agamas Sutras, Jainist religious books was not written by Mahavir Jain, the Jainist prophet.
These scriptures are claimed to be direct words of god in the all respective religions.
      1. Why these religious books were written after the death of the prophets of respective religions by someone else?
      2. Why other God or prophets didn’t wrote themselves?
      3. Why didn’t they(prophets and gods) thought of it’s(writing religious books by themselves) as a vital process of preserving their own uncorrupted real teachings?

plz come to our temple, participate in having langar ( free meal ), which promotes equality and fights hunger..
we don't discriminate anyone in anyway possible.. for us, caste, creed, race, gender, religious belief, nationality, sexual orientation e.t.c. are irrelevant...
the only thing matters are your thoughts, words and action.
you all are welcome ( Jee aayain nu)

Sikh means learning this world best teaching. We are all students, we have come to learn everything in this world. This world is teaching us something Our body is made of clay. Only one soul who does not die should go back to her home. That's why human beings have to become good. This world is a magic city. We have got a body that can match our soul with that Lord. This world is not our home. God made a gam in which we left all of us. If we play good games then win will win if we play bad game.

Sikhs are very kind, charitable people. Sikhs live wholesome lives in the service of others. They are people of high integrity. They deserve our highest respect, gratitude and admiration.Sikhs are not Muslims. They are Indians.
What all of the adherents of Abrahamic religions cannot grasp is that the adherents of dharmic religions like Hinduism, Sikhism, Jainism, Buddhism is that their connections with God is experiential rather than based on belief. They are all like Christs rather than like believer. They are seekers, not believers.
The great flaw the the adherents of the Abrahamic religions is they all believe they alone have the Truth. The dharmic adherents will never make such a claim that they alone have the Truth but rather that each religion is a path to the Truth, thus they proclaim all religions are true. The Abrahamic view has and still is causing much divisions in the world resulting into wars and conquerings of nations, whereas in the dharmic religions peace within and peace with neighbors is the main goal as their view is that we are all One not only with each other as human beings but with everything in the Cosmos.
