    Dr. Radha Krishnan a great thinker, philosopher and the former President of India nominated for Nobel prize, deeply studied the Sikh religion and commended it on many counts in the UNESCO publication on the Holy Guru Granth Sahib and the Sikh Gurus.
    He once met the Russian leader Stalin who asked him,
    "Dr. Radha Krishnan, how would you backfill the wide trench between the rich and poor in India?"
    Dr. Radha Krishnan promptly replied, "In the same way as Guru Gobind Singh abolished the caste barriers and engulfed the wide split between Hindus and Muslims of India."

  • @baljeetd
    @baljeetd 7 лет назад +41

    Kudos and thanks to 2 wonderful people.
    Here's my 2 cents on the topic of LANGAR (where Mr Jammu was tearing up):
    LANGAR, often translated as "open kitchen", is a super-wonderful part of Sikhism. Basically, it eradicates the most basic source of suffering in all humanity, i.e. hunger. It is the practice of FEEDING EVERYONE who attends the temple. It does it in a way that is radically equal, such that social status; income; religion; gender; age; [everything else] is completely to be ignored. So, if you ever go to a Sikh temple anywhere in the world, you will be fed on request, without question, without limitation! (Just be respectful). Traditionally, symbolically and pragmatically, this happens on a Sunday lunchtime.
    Where I grew up in the UK, the local street beggars used to come and eat alongside everyone else in the temple at Langar time. They smelled a lot, but were fully welcomed. Nobody would ever say anything disparaging to them - they were treated exactly the same as the most "high status" Sikhs in the room; everyone equal (because there is no status). They loved the typical unlimited 6+ course Indian buffet: with rice, 2 veg curries, chapattis, yoghurt, salad, fruit/dessert and water or tea.

    Rev Shannon O'Hurley , The ONLY religious scriptures [ Sri Guru Granth Sahibji ] which was written by the Sikh Gurus during their lifetime and not written later like the religions of Middle Eastern. No where in Sub-Continental's religions a woman is considered inferior , but in Sikhism women as equal as men folks. It is shame that Hindus, Buddhist, Jains and Sikhs have NOT propagated their religions in the West as they should have . Nevertheless its happening now through the likes of Bhai Dilpreet Singh Ji. May WaheGuru bless you .

      S simba i somewhere agrees with what you say but 500 years ago sinerio was different... I don't know about budhism and jains much but in hinduism and muslims still you can see that women does not had a right to live in hinduism.. i am referring to famous SATI pratha where a widow had to die along with her died husband.... women in rural areas still needs to cover their faces under Burkha and Ghungat... women still don't deserve to sit aside with males to have meals... india is still struggling to give right to study to girls and while worshipping, i dont know much but a Girl is considered to be KANJAK (young girls treated like Devi) but only before the age of puberty. After that she is considered impure... and even ladies are not allowed to worship some gods of hindu like Shani dev etc... and muslim ladies are not allowed in some masjids...
      so 500 years ago this was criticized by sikh gurus for the very first time...

    • @ssimba2785
      @ssimba2785 6 лет назад +1

      Prem07891 . ''....but in hinduism and muslims still you can see that women does not had a right to live hinduism '' I can't understand what you are trying to say? ..... '' i am referring to famous SATI pratha where a widow had to die with her dies husband '' That SATI had nothing to do with hindu religion but culture thing of that time . No where in Hindu scriptures will you find anything about SATI. Correct me if I'm wrong that culture thing only started after the invasion of Muslims into India. same as the ''Ghungat '' which is not part of Hindu religion, again its cultural thing because of muslims Parda/ Burkha system. '' women still don't deserve to sit aside with males to have meals, That too have cultural thing. All original religions of Sub-continent give their women rights , but it's cultural things which hinders that freedom . Can you understand all that? Now see www.thereligionofpeace.com

    Actually Sikhi doesnot state women are equal to men, it states that women are more so significant, as the Divine Words, state, 'Gurdev Matha Gurdev Pitha, Highest Dev is Mother, Highest Dev is Father., The Mother is considered the most important hence mentioned first, be that mother earth, or mother in any other form.. is the highest. Guru Nanak also states, From Women great kings warriors prophets are born..

  • @rupendra79
    @rupendra79 4 года назад +2

    Sikh in Hindi means 'Learn'. In one place Guru Nanak said 'Aatam cino' i.e. know thy self. So the main teaching is Learn or attain self-realization.

    There is ONE basic astonishing difference found from the study of ALL religions.
    All Prophets and Gods, other than Sikh Gurus didn’t give any importance to wrote their religious scripture books themselves.
    Sikh Scripture, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was written and compiled by Sikh Guru's themselves. and its ONLY scripture in the world that was written and compiled and checked by the prophets/Gods themselves.
    Sikh Gurus in fact created a whole NEW LANGUAGE called Gurmukhi and even CREATED ALPHABETS from scratch to put SGGS divine teaching in writing themselves.
    No other religious Book whether its
    1. Torah, Jewish religious book was not written by Moses the Jewish prophet.
    2. Bible, Christian religious book was not written by Jesus the Christian prophet.
    3. Quran, Muslim religious book was not written by Muhammad the Muslim prophet.
    4. Geeta, Hindu religious book was not written by Krishna the Hindu God, Ramayana was not written by Rama the Hindu God, Shiv puran and Vishnu puran are not written by Shiva and Vishnu the Hindu Gods.
    5. Pali and Mahayana Sutras, Buddhist religious books were not written by Gautam Buddha the Buddhist prophet.
    6. Agamas Sutras, Jainist religious books was not written by Mahavir Jain, the Jainist prophet.
    These scriptures are claimed to be direct words of god in the all respective religions.
    Why these religious books were written after the death of the prophets of respective religions by someone else?
    Why other God or prophets didn’t wrote themselves?
    Why didn’t they thought of it’s as a vital process of preserving their own uncorrupted real teachings?

      Hinduism is unlike these other listed religions - Hinduism is a yoga science based ideology. Seriously one cannot equally compare Hindu - yogic evolution to ANY of this or even put it in the same basket! An individual who has first hand experience of what Hinduism is (that takes years of your life) would be the only one who can comment on this great ancient way of life - NOTE: way of life. Thank you.

    Why didn't he mention about the Guru Gobind Singh Ji that it is a Guru Ji blessings to all Sikhs when asked about turban, he instead say it is a head cover out of respect.I want to ask if it is just a head cover out of respect, then can I wear a cap?. And he didn't mention that it was guru Gobind Singh ji who asked to all Sikhs "sab sikhan ko hukam hai, guru maneyo granth ", that's why we consider Guru Granth Sahib as a living guru.

      Churches that follow Christian teachings typically view Jesus as the Son of God, the Savior, and the embodiment of divine love, compassion, and wisdom. They believe in his teachings, life, death, and resurrection as described in the New Testament of the Bible.
      Different churches may emphasize different aspects of Jesus' teachings or focus on various ways of connecting with and experiencing the presence of Jesus in their spiritual lives.

This human life is a chance to get close to god so we can go there instead of back in reincarnation. What a well spoken gentleman. Unfortunately, when it comes to Hinduism, he is rather poorly informed. Hinduism does not believe in many or multiple Gods. There is only one God in Hinduism, Santan Dharma, Bhramanam. It is sad to see that such well read gentleman does not understand the fundamentals of a closely related ideology. The sages and wise people understood that explaining the concept of Bhramanam to all is very difficult, so they said pray to what you can associate yourself best with, in the end, no matter what form you pray to or worship all comes from the same God and thus, all is legitimate. To hear such a well spoken gentleman say that Sikhism is closer to Islam than Hinduism is tragic.

      @Kellogg's Hinduism is pure science-based ideology - largely not understood by shallow thinkers or fly-by-night explanations. By superficial cataloging; the very essence of this science called Hinduism gets lost in this kind of politicking. So please remember; unless you have actually eaten an orange, nobody will be able to make you really know what it is!!

    He is completely wrong on LGBTQ question. He just said what crowd wanted to hear. The Sikh scripture has countless verses that guide you on sexuality and it’s effect on your soul. While I was enjoying his talk but completely lost him after that.

    At 9:17 Bhai Dalpreetji '' In terms of Islam, Islam is a beautiful faith, we share one God with them '' Wrong . Islam is NOT a beautiful faith, matter off fact it's a CULT. You say we share one God with them . You may but Muslims are NOT allowed to do that. From Quran Sura 4:48 . Allah will NOT forgive those who associate other Gods with Him, but will forgive whom He will for other sins . He that associate other Gods with HIM is guilty of a heinous sin '' So please I suggest you all read the Quran to know the truth . Are you also forgetting the atrocities muslims have committed against Hindus, Buddhist and Sikhs in the history of India and further afield, Islam is not a religion but is masquerading as religion. You will forgive me about telling the truth .

      Bhai Dalpreetji knows Sikhi but has limited understanding of Hinduism so should refrain from comparing these religions. If he wants to be politically correct by saying Islam is a 'beautiful' religion - then that is his basic right; BUT then his very Sikhi nature becomes questionable to his audience.

    many Gods in hinduism!!!one ultimate reality of many facets indicated by idols!!!! ek onkar is not original to sikh but sikhism gave more emphasis to it!! this ek onkar is hindu concept known as AUM which is represent by the Ultimate Reality known as BRAHMAN. universal soul u might call it!! and this ultimate reality is very difficult to explain for common folks so hindus created idea of Infinite Aapect of tht brahman through idols/ideals !! those idols just used as tool to meditate on !! people chose idols as per their liking mind/personality make up it helps thm to meditate effectively. In hinduism concept of God comes in category of cynicism. hindu have Q like is there god if yes who made thm what was before thm why he created universe do god know us or it just us who believe for no reason...ppl can google this nasadiya sukta-15 line poem!!. if u u r interested in philosophy n concept of god.

    CORRECTION: Hindu faith is misunderstood - there is politics that divides Hindu and Sikh ideology more so than if you actually did an honest deep study of both faiths; eg Hindu faith gives you freedom to worship/adore the ONE & ONLY Creator in any myriad form that appeals to you. Hindu scriptures are from a whole library of science based yogic knowledge whereas the same ideology is captured in the Sikhs singular Guru Granth (word of God/Guru) Sahib.
    Hindus have same concept of one intelligent energy or 'God' pervasive in ALL creation.
    So many 'religious' authorities and sadly, even Hindus as well - narrate a very superficial understanding of the Hindu faith, which; really has layers and layers of spiritual unravelling. Such ancient and empirically tested Hindu or Sanatan Dharma does not get justice done by, in all respect by claimed various religious commentators/authority.
    To give oneself ANY authority to compare/comment on Hinduism or Sanatan Dharma; a person has to be a desciple or student for many many years otherwise, very sadly they are only political about this most ancient beautiful way of ideal life!

    THIS IS WHAT HOLY BIBLE SAY ABOUT TURBAN: Leviticus 8:9 He also put the turban on his head and placed the gold medallion, the holy diadem, on the front of the turban, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
