i need an episode where shayne gets told they are not filming reddit stories that week cuz they don’t have any stories planned up, and then he walks in and it’s countney or amanda who is wearing a shayne inspired outfit and holding the ipad and shayne gets read the stories to and it’s just reddit stories that seem very shayne specific like marrying my bestfriend or being short 😭
Love what Amanda said about the lingerie story, about how we all say we would walk out in that moment, but a lot of us freeze in the moment out of shock and uncertainty. I too always think “oh I’d be so out of there in seconds”, but then in my own life know I’ve frozen instead when I should have just left. Just some great perspective there!
Same! It’s so easy to say what should be done, but in the moment it can be so hard. Especially if it feels like leaving would cause things to escalate and wouldn’t be a safe choice. I’d like to think I’d choose fight or flight, but in my experience I usually choose freeze
As someone who has had plenty of toxic relationships and nightmare dates, my reaction would have landed somewhere between freezing/fawning (and ghosting the next day) and starting a passionate argument that would almost immediately reduce me to tears and exhaust my counterpart so much that they'd either give in or discard me as punishment. I'm very thankful that my nervous system has chosen correctly, and I'm still alive 😂 also thankful for therapy, though I only needed it half as much as those men did.
Man, that first story got crazier with every reveal. "He's 29? He *was* married? He picked a body suit as a first lingerie gift? He picked a bodysuit when you have a long torso? He called you FAT? He tried to return the used lingerie? Wait, Spencer's? He got you lingerie from SPENCER'S? ...HE HAS KIDS??" Geez, with that and all the other red flags, I'm not surprised he's divorced...I'm just surprised he was ever married in the first place.
I love when Amanda says "what are we TALKING about!?" "What are we DISCUSSING?!" "What are we DOING HERE?!" Etc. It's been rapidly creeping into my vocabulary
I totally agree with Shayne's photo story. When my dad passed I remember going through photos and we found one of him at hos wedding reception pretending to feed a mounted deer head a beer and I lost it. Those clown photos will 100% lighten the mood and help the kids when the inevitable happens
The lingerie story, of course the lingerie didn't fit a human body, it's from Spencer's, they're so cheap they make it just for the mannequins and call it a day! Also, the fact that he's 29 with an ex-wife and kids, and this girl is 24 in her first EVER relationship screams unhealthy power dynamic and he was absolutely trying to take advantage of it. Glad she's outta there!
42:55 I grew up in the Bay Area. One of my classmates committed suicide because his ACT score was a point lower than he needed to get into the college he wanted to play soccer for. I cannot imagine the kind of pressure he felt.
Had a former fiancé say that to me, and like eight years later his reaction still affects me sometimes. My current girlfriend is so patient with me, and I thank God for her every day. The axe forgets, the tree remembers, etc etc
I was legit hoping that this was going to be, “haha plot twist, I’m the other bride, we’re super gay married now.” Side note, how much do you want to bet that the person who does “friendship tests” is messily divorced, or only technically married because brokezilla can’t afford the filing fees?
No friendship tests are stupid. I once had a coworker tell me the wrong way to pronounce her name as one, I went out of my way to confirm with her how to say it. She then throws me under the bus months later for being “disrespectful” and using the wrong name because if I respected her then I would have figured it out. Bullshit. We are grown and I should be able to trust people to tell me their damn name right the first time.
Why does she think the Internet (or other coworkers) is a better source on pronouncing her name than herself? When it comes to how to pronounce names, I'm gonna get my infos from the source
I know someone who pronounces her name differently from anyone I've seen with that name and spelling, so the internet would have led me astray if I'd tried to "figure it out" for myself. That was pure evil of your co-worker to do that to you.
I think it was very one sided friendship, she just used her for money and help with the wedding and then purposely got rid of her at the wedding day and did it in a really cruel way to have a strong reasoning and power over this whole situation to justify her actions Like "i know she helped a lot but she was wearing white that's why i humiliated her and we can't be friends anymore"
@@fluffymood665 that’s true! I feel like we need more info on their past friendship because it could be that she used her bff for other stuff in the past and decided to end the friendship at the wedding
Exactly. My best friend also chose my maid of honor outfit. She wore white and picked out a white linen suit for me when I brought her a bunch of options. It wasn’t a trap because she wasn’t bananas. We looked great. This is such a wild story
So fun story. My brother once went to a wedding where all the guests were told to wear all white. The bride had three different dresses that she wore throughout the night. They were red, green, and gold. It was really cool and the only time you can wear white to a wedding
In the clown wedding story, the part where the mother-in-law tells the daughter that she "should have put her foot down and made sure her son had a classy wedding" is infuriating. The wife is not responsible for the husband's actions or choices, and it is weird that the mother-in-law thinks OP should control her husband.
THANK U why does it have to be placed on the daughter in law rather than the son??? press ur son not his wife, why are u placing the blame on the woman? it doesn’t make sense i’m so happy to find another comment saying this
@@autumn3246 I think their main concern was to keep the peace by doing something for the mother too without giving up their idea either. So just having something for the mom to do just as a way to consider her as well is important since she's been a pretty good person to the couple which seems to be the case according to the bride. I was still initially miffed that they were a bit too pro mom but Amanda and Olivia did go against the mom in the end when it was revealed she still wasn't satisfied with the non-clown photos. I'm pretty sure the mom is getting influenced by her friend's comments about the wedding and she's taking it out on the bride. Not the couple's fault though. They're good. They're a different generation that puts extra weight into these things and how they appear to family friends. I wouldn't call the mom toxic off the bat but if she keeps insisting then she'd cross that line. they will have to keep their distance
100% agree. It is about the couple and no one else. The families can be there to enjoy the day or stay home and whine in the dark where no has to hear it.
When can people actually do things they want. Not when their kids, not on their birthdays, not highschool not college and now not even marriage??! All of these precious things are about family. I think we can let this one thing about the couple
Completely agree here. If it meant so much to the mother in law to have a photo of them without the clown, why didn’t she ask them beforehand rather than getting angry out of the blue. I’m sure they would have obliged then.
I agree 100%, I feel like appease family only gets you so far. It creates more codependency and more situations where parents think they have a say in what you do. I think it’s wild to say the wedding is about the family…what? I had a backyard wedding, potluck and no real reception. My mother in law was a little pissy about it, so what, this was the same woman who after I’d had my 4th child had a realization that Mother’s Day was also about me. She literally verbalized this to me. I kinda chuckled because I knew how self centered she was. It truly was unintentional, but because I knew who she was, I didn’t have unrealistic expectations.
As a mom, if my kiddo met someone who matched his sense of humor enough to have a clown at the wedding, I would be delighted. That's a soulmate level match and I absolutely want that for him if he chooses to partner. 🤡
Absolutely! And sorry but it has nothing to do with the mother, tell her to deal with it. Why should they stage a few photos at extra cost just because she's an idiot
One thing nobody touched on with the MIL is that she’s blaming her DIL for not making her son have a classy wedding, as if the clown was entirely his idea and as a woman she should know better. It doesn’t seem like she’s putting any of the responsibility on her son, who is a grown adult.
Yes, thank you! That really bothered me that the MIL was apparently placing all responsibility for the wedding not going the way MIL wanted it to on the OP and not on her own son. Because as a woman, she was supposed to rein in her husband's childish tendencies *eye roll*
SAMEEEE! I was so bothered with the “you should have put your foot down” comment towards the DIL. I waited for it to be commented on, cause it’s so shitty. Your son is a grown adult with a brain, you can talk to him or talk to both of them. Why is it on the bride to make sure the wedding is classy. So annoying
The mother in law- maybe another reason she wants a nice photo- she's been bragging to her friends (who are hella competitive about their offspring) over her perfect son's wedding. Then if she's shows the clown photo, mother in law's gonna be a laughing stock. Doesn't mean she's right to go off at OP, but it could be another reason why she's pissed.
@@mavvi3303 maybe because MIL thinks her son is perfect? or just the opposite- MIL is thinks it's her son's 'dumb idea' and is identifying with DIL : thinking that no woman would want that clown wedding- I (MIL) would have put my foot down and said no to it, so DIL should have said no to it too. I think MIL 100 percent in the wrong either way!
I've been meaning to say that Shayne is one of the most emotionally mature men on the internet. He's made me rethink how I should handle certain situations. A true role model for how men should act.
My sentiments exactly. Him and all the guys there and Justin from Two Hot Takes are amazing. Their parents must just glow with pride at what role model males they raised. Whatever their parenting style is, everyone should do it. Love this group so much, but I think Shayne and Damien are my absolute faves.
I LOVE how at the end they're bringing all the stories together, like "the roommate was the clown in that wedding" -style. It's been my favourite bit they've been doing!
Okay with the clown photo story, the story clearly said that the clown was invited in SOME of the wedding photos, not ALL. The mother has plenty of photos without a clown in them, she’s just mad that the wedding didn’t go her way and that the couple has a photo she doesn’t like up
Yep! Didn’t love the takes here, they spent like ten minutes going “oh but you should do this for the mom, moms matter” and then at the end slapped on a “oh but it’s your wedding I guess” While, as you said, ignoring the fact that there are plenty of pictures without the clown
I don’t think they realized that at first tho. At the end when it’s revealed MIL had plenty of other photos, they clarified that she was probably acting that way because she was embarrassed and that she didn’t have a right to act that way.
yeah i don’t think any way they would’ve done it would’ve pleased the mom. even amanda’s idea of taking some normal pics after, the mom could’ve easily said “oh but this wasn’t the REAL wedding so it’s lesser than” and that can go on and on
As someone w an Asian family I think both guests being WOC influenced their take. The amount of bs I have to tolerate to please my mom & not start fights is awful, & she's even worse with her own mother
The 7:55 story... She's just his fantasy toy and that's AWFUL. The way that guy acted is a disgusting way to treat ANY person. Treating any person like an object is insanely wrong and abominable.
I legitimately put some pancakes in the oven to warm them up this morning and I had to laugh thinking about this line!!! I officially did take my pancakes out of the oven
Someone doing a "friendship test" is ironic cause it's actually a reverse friendship test, because no real friend would ever make another friend do a "friendship test" , especially in front of others and at a big event like a wedding. Real friends have honest and open communication, they're not lying to each other as "tests". Anyone who makes "friendship tests" immediately fails the friendship test.
@@Acinnnthis also! like she already knew her friend was thinking of wedding standards and chose to tell her otherwise. Not to mention the wedding dress was blue
Yeah, it's like, if you're testing friendships it should be a playful trust test if anything. Telling them something silly and harmless to see if they take it seriously bc they care about you or use it to judge you. But you really shouldn't ever feel like you *need* that sort of thing, it's more of a prank situation if anything. Telling your friend to come to your wedding in the white dress & getting excited when they actually do. Telling someone a mispronunciation of your name & adopting it as a nickname when they stick to it. And even then, don't play with it, let them know what you really wanted as soon as possible.
51:26 This is why my friends eloped!!! I don’t think this is cute for adults/parents to behave like that. The day truly isn’t about the moms! I’m sorry to tell them! I love my mom… but it’s not about her! Come to the wedding and celebrate your children!!! They shouldn’t have to walk on eggshells or sacrifice what they want to please their mothers!!! If you want a special role, just ask!!! Don’t be rude and pout because you want to feel special on someone else’s day!
Exactly. That's why we eloped. Our moms were mad but they are both super controlling and would have made our wedding miserable. We wanted to have fun and enjoy ourselves on OUR day. Wouldn't have changed it for anything. Who knows what else the mother-in-law from the story is controlling about.
I love that Olivia didn't feel embarrassed about picking her nose in front of her bf during the serious talk, but after telling everyone on a video now she's like "I'm feeling kinda embarrassed"
About the story of the boyfriend refusing to lie about his job: The OP looked up his GF's dad and found out he's a "ruthless criminal defense attorney" going along with that lie sounds like a deathwish
Trying to lie in front of him would be a case from ace attorney, but your the witness who did the crime and the dad is phoenix write You're not winning that
I also just have absolutely zero empathy for the chick. "I want to lie about my entire life because I NEED to be a trustfund baby and can't pave my own path like most people!!!" So pathetic
@callmemc6 "I NEED this money! Ignore the fact that most people in the world are able to live without all that money, i particular NEED this money!" Honestly, would make for a fun comedy "heist" movie, instead of trying to steal the money they assemble a team to make them seem better then they are so the parents give them the money and everyone gets a share, you have the boyfriend, the guy in the chair fending them info like that one scene from kingsmen 2. Someone contact Edgar write
Lingerie Guy was sus from the start. I think he knew full well women don't usually wear that to sleep in, but he knew she hadn't slept at a partner's house before, and he thought if he bought her lingerie he could get her to wear it to bed and make that normal. Gross. Cast him into the sea.
THANK YOU Amanda for saying what you said in story 2, and mentioning how difficult it can be to make the right decisions in the moment - especially when you're feeling overwhelmed or embarrassed. give grace! many of us, especially on reddit, forget this. :)
Sometimes I forget my name is a color and then I get jumpscared. “Why would grey look good at a wedding?” MFW I’m roasted in the middle of a reddit video for no reason
To look at your girl in ANY context but especially after just sleeping together and say your SICK TO YOUR STOMACH is soooooo beyond crazy omg😭👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼
52:54 I'd be writing in "aita for not giving af that my mil doesn't like my wedding" Like weddings are stressful enough trying to accommodate everyone or selecting one or two and causing drama amongst the rest is so unnecessary, this is a day to celebrate this specific couple come or don't.
spencers employee here! we sell toys, lingerie, lava lamps & other lighting, t-shirts, gag gifts, pillows, blankets, stuffed animals, figurines, bags, belts, jewellery.... we're all over the place! i would not recommend our lingerie to anybody though, we charge a lot more than it's worth. go to an actual lingerie store. might be more expensive but it'd be actually good quality. OP's ex was cheap, AND controlling/manipulative.
@@ryanmccolloch4734I’m also an employee at Spencer’s and I’d like to say DO IT. Our lava lamps are so cool and surprisingly super affordable. Also, our display lava lamps are on every single day for a full 12 hours yet still take close to a year before they need to be replaced (keep in mind your lava lamp will probably last longer if you have them on less then we do in the store. They should always be off if you’re not in the room). They are amazing. And there’s a great selection
The thing that bothers me about the clown wedding is that the mother wasn't upset because she wanted these pictures to be special to her. She said she was embarrassed. It sounded like wedding pictures were something she was showing off to other parents. It was about her ego, not about sincerity. It's like when parents are extra hard on their kids in public (especially when their kids play a sport). They're worried about themselves and how THEY are perceived, and not about what is honest or good.
Also a wedding just isn't about anyone except the people getting married. Yeah it's special to the parents but it just isn't about them and as adults they need to get over it and just be happy you're happy.
@@Wigglinwormi I agree, this is my response to their point about trying keep mothers happy and keep peace (and then the update revealed that the couple had, and the mom really was even more in the wrong than they thought).
@@Wigglinwormi I agree with Chanse's old take, weddings should be for the people that are paying and planning it, but at the same time you're asking people close to your life to carve out time and money to celebrate you. It can't just 100% be for the people getting married because all the guests and family have to put in effort, time, and figure out ways to attend around work. Sure the guests can always not come, but weddings can also not have ceremonies that involve a lot of people so in the end it just comes down to personal opinion. The mother in that story took things too personal though I agree with that
I think the most telling thing is that she saw the photo they put up IN THEIR OWN HOME and accused them of 'rubbing it in', ie 'this whole thing is about me'.
Wedding friendship test story: 120% the bride would’ve freaked out if OP had worn something else outside of the white dress because she didn’t do what the bride wanted. The bride just wanted drama.
Genuinely sounds like she was using her for her money, op is probably a people pleaser/super helpful and the bride completely took advantage of that and then wanted some huge explosive moment at the wedding….
yeah it was a setup to embarrass OP regardless for what dress she chose to wear. if the bride actually wanted to test her, OP already passed when the white dress was immediately in the NO pile
Agreed. I don't care whatever "history" there might be, I would never do that to even I consider to be a friend (or even a close acquaintance for that matter)
21:29 that "friendship test" is sooo toxic... had a friend that had done that shit to me (note: several times)... everytime we meet up i always had my guard up around that person, i get that my friend had trust issues but her "trust tests" was too mentally tiring for me.... had to distance myself on that one...
Clown wedding: NTA. This is my biggest wedding pet peeve. It. Is. Not. Mom's. Wedding. I hear you, Amanda, but it is their wedding. And there were other photos. And it is THEIR home to put THEIR wedding picture up. That was a mom who isn't ready to let her son go. Sometimes keeping the peace is right, and sometimes you don't have to drop what you like for your parents' demands.
Came to the comments hoping someone would see it how I did!! Their take assumed that none of the photos were just of the couple or family and it almost felt like it was as if they GAVE the MIL the clown photo rather than just had it hanging in their house. It’s their home and that was their favorite photo! MIL was just mad the wedding wasn’t what she wanted.
@@coedeed Just different cultures. I come from a background where weddings ARE a family affair. Literally a union of two families and all that. We're happy to host a celebration for not just the couple, but the important family members as well. I agree that the MIL should definitely calm down and let her son and DIL be, but Amanda and Olivia were right too (they 100% agreed with the couple to btw). A lot of the things they were talking about make sense and honestly would take almost very little effort to do, especially if the result is DECADES of peace. The world is big and your experiences and perspectives are not the only correct ones (but they're yours, so you do you).
Yeah, I was kind of on board with keeping the peace with MIL and just adding some 'normal' wedding photos so she could settle down. Then they revealed they had plenty of normal pics without the clown, so now it's just the MIL being completely unreasonable.
Ladies! So random but as a lady that works at an adult store lingerie is usually a bit smaller in sizing than normal clothing. If he bought her a size l and she was more of an xl he could’ve possibly bought her lingerie that was 2-3 sizes smaller than she actually is 🤦🏾♀️ when shopping for lingerie sizing up is completely normal and absolutely recommended!
@@MissCaraMint It is! I felt so bad for the girl while they were reading the story like even if she did gain weight or something nothing is wrong with her size, and for someone that is supposed to be into her it was so sick for him to say that 😭 so I figured any other girls that might have lingerie problems might want to read this
went through the post about the bf being told to lie about his job. apparently sarah has made some kind of fake documents and woven an extremely intricate backstory for what seems like months and won't stop blowing up op's phone even though he's not responding. I truly hope he can get out safely bc this woman sounds deeply troubled and dangerous.
It’s so clear to me that Sarah is in dire need of therapy, I feel kinda bad for her because, holy fuck the pressure of the family would kill me, but the way she’s like… trying to get back into the life with this grand scheme is… insane, sure take the money and never speak to them again, BUT all the effort and extreme lengths is just not worth it. I always believe in therapy for all, but she needs one desperately. OP escaped something rough.
She complains that her parents were controlling and manipulative, yet proceeds to act in the exact same manner. She’s pressuring/demanding her (ex)boyfriend to adopt an entirely fabricated (at best) or fraudulent (at worst) persona to appease a couple of strangers who could potentially ruin his life (depending on how powerful and vindictive they are). It’s despicable. I feel terribly sorry for her, but I feel worse for him. He shouldn’t have to suffer her unprocessed trauma, unwarranted projection, and blatant manipulation.
@@vaderwalks Yeah, that was not commented on in the video but that was a huge red flag. Like I got goosebumps when Shayne read it. “Who put these ideas in your head?” like that and some other stuff she says can basically be summed up as “Who are you letting influence your opinions other than me? How dare you let someone other than me control you?” So scary
@@MiraBoo There's a classic phrase that always come to mind when I see this, you can grow up into your parents if you begin fearing what they do too much Which happens a lot, you turn into a version of your parents, by trying not too, it's very weird and paradoxical but it's incredibly sad and crazy how often it happens.
50:25 sorry I don’t care what the parents think, it’s our wedding and I want the fun. The best part of my uncle’s wedding is the fact that 4 year old me was not happy with taking group photos and you can tell in the photos. I just think I’m a little more independent, especially since I’m paying for all of it.
The clown story - it’s their wedding and they can do whatever they want! The couple’s opinion is really all that matters. The mother-in-law is being unreasonable.
THIIISSSSS As a parent, I can't imagine being so mad about anything regarding my kids' wedding(if or whenever they happen). Like YOU DO YOU AS LONG AS YOURE HAPPY BABY.
What Amanda said at 52:00…. I had watched 3 friends get married before me and I saw how completely stressed their moms were with wedding prep. They were running around crazy right up until the wedding and they didn’t get to visit with family or friends or enjoy the time. I made a point to NOT put that on my mom or MIL, only to find out after the fact that they both felt very left out. I felt so bad because my desire had never been to exclude. MIL was a missionary at the time who had not been in the states for months and was getting to see family and friends for the first time in months. My parents had moved across the country from their family members and had not seen my grandparents and aunts and uncles for a long time. I just wanted them to enjoy the time. But I didn’t communicate that clearly and it resulted in hurt feelings. Lesson learned: communicate, communicate, communicate
My experience isn't with weddings, but I 100% understand wanting to ease my mom's life by not putting work on her just so she can relax and enjoy her time. But it also took some time for me to realize that she _actually wants_ to have that work put on her so she can feel involved. She's always been involved in my life, and it's because of that, I want to relieve that burden, but sometimes by doing that, it can make it seem like they're being disregarded or left out. So I now go with the mentality that if you really want to do something, by all means, go ahead, but if it feels too stressful, I truly don't mind if you step away from it and I'll handle it.
50:54 Shayne is so right about this! I have printed out pictures of my wife’s and my family’s members and on of the pictures is my grandma on a motorcycle in her 20s. You can see her, the real her, the person that I didn’t have a chance to meet because for me she is the grandma.
Im surprised no one brought up the fact that the gf (in the lying about job story) said she was afraid he would break up with her if she told him the truth. What else is she hiding until she feels hes trapped enough?? Thats scary
I get the feeling that Charlotte and OP’s friendship was one of those where Charlotte was always a toxic friend. She would always do lots of little and spread out nasty things like backhanded comments so Op wouldn’t really notice. However, this was the first time Charlotte did something big enough for Op to notice which is why is feels so out of the blue for her
I love these little throwback jokes to previous stories. That are the moments where I'm actually laughing out loud watching these videos. Thanks guys, you brighten my day on a regular basis.
Shayne talking about the clown prank makes me think he would actually do that, he's so committed to a joke that i wouldnt be even surprised that he could actually pull this off LMAO
He has stated before how he could never commit to a bit to long because he would be exhausted and to afraid to fuck it up I think the longest thing he pulled of was the fake fear of monkeys
IT IS NOT THE MOTHER IN LAWS WEDDING!!! IT ISN'T ABOUT HER! SHE HAS PLENTY OF PICTURES OF HER SON, IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE ONES SHE HANGS IN HER HOUSE ARE FROM THE WEDDING!!!!! YOU DO NOT NEED TO SHAPE YOUR LIFE TO PLEASE YOUR PARENTS!!!!
EXACTLY. THEY ALSO DIDN'T SAY EVERY SINGLE PICTURE WAS WITH A CLOWN, JUST THAT THE ONE THEY *CHOSE* TO HANG UP WAS WITH THE CLOWN. WHO IS ALSO A FAMILY FRIEND. LIKE. IT DOESN'T SAY *ANYTHING* ABOUT THE MIL. JUST THE PEOPLE WHO THOUGHT THEY SHOULD HANG UP THE PICTURE WITH A MENACING CLOWN AND HIS RUBBER HAMMER.
theory on the white dress story: the husband has been feeding his wife this story of OP being in love with him because he is attracted to her in some way; so he’s been causing a rift between the 2 friends w/o OP knowing. the “test” could be the wife’s way of testing the validity of this story, in a “you want to be me and marry my man” kinda way. this is the only justification i could possibly come up with for the weird out-of-nowhere proposition
i highly doubt that, she sounds a lot more unhinged than him, and i actually think its the other way round. all she wanted was OP's money and then to cut off the friendship, which is why she created this friendship test, so now she could be like "i know she helped me but i had to cut her off because she did suuuch an unacceptable thing at my wedding!!". and then she asked the boyfriend to ask her that thing
Anyone who is so homophobic that the thought of sleeping next to a woman in a big shirt scares them because they might “turn gay” is living in a glass closet, the call came from within the house. 29 with an ex wife and multiple children plus going for someone with no relationship experience is a flag redder than Mars. I’m glad OP left because if that was his mask I feel sorry for his ex wife and kids. It’s scary when people change drastically but knowing that could happen when it starts here is horror movie levels of unnerving.
@@destinyc7801 Can we stop with this whole "homophobic people are actually gay themselves" thing? These people are the main ones making LGBTQ+ people's lives miserable. Saying these people are actually in the closet is tantamount to saying it's the LGBTQ+ community that's marginalizing the LGBTQ+ community. Yes, you might find a few very outspoken anti-gay people who are acting out out of fear of their own sexuality, but that is very far from the norm. I'm so tired of this rhetoric that we are the ones also being homophobic. Why is it so difficult to just accept that it's super straight people who are homophobic and that it's these people who think being slightly "unmasculine" (however they choose to define that) will "turn them gay?" Every time someone shows signs of homophobia or is blatantly homophobic, people have to say "they must be so far in the closet" or something along the lines of "scared of their true sexuality." That shit is annoying and so exhausting.
forgot mars was a planet for a second and was very confused as a person named mars LMAO but no yeah i 100% agree. hes the same type of guy that the 'fellas, is it gay to have a girlfriend?' meme is making fun of
The second story...so not only did he get mad that she wanted to be comfortable to sleep, he bought her lingerie, but couldn't even be bothered to get some that would fit properly?? And then he blames her/her body for it??? Also, I can see why his ex wife is his ex wife. Also looked up to see what lingerie Spencer's Gifts has. And yeah. All the lingerie looks uncomfortable. They also have Scream/Ghostface themed lingerie, so there's that (and by Ghostface themed, I mean...Ghostface's face is all up on the underwear).
@froufroudeluxe Its more like Hot Topic for adults if you have that. Its a lot of Fandom stuff and weed paraphernalia. The further back in the store the more "adult" it gets. The entire back wall/section is usually sex toys/costumes (and I mean costumes, theyre goofy)/ etc

The wedding story.. the hubsand was a f**king weirdo! How do you tell your friend to apologize for something that wasnt their fault and then jumped to sleep with me as an apology.. like dude has no dignity.
31:32 The friendship test post is truly insane. Like…WHAT!? I feel like my brain can’t process this. Out of all the Reddit posts, this is the one that breaks my brain.
The marriage one…. Your marriage is not for your mothers. Your marriage is for you. Do what you want, take the photos you want that encapsulate you. If mom can’t handle your personality, that’s on her. Don’t go out of your way to do something extra for a mother if her first reaction is to be distant and then snap about it. If she truly cared and didn’t feel so entitled, she would have asked at the wedding to take a photo of just the two of them. The wedding is for the couple getting married. It’s not moms wedding again.
Exactly. I disagreed with Amanda saying you needed to do so much for the mothers. No. Like you said, it's the couple getting married. Momzillas need to cool it.

Really, really appreciate what Amanda and Shayne said about giving grace to people in a situation where there is abuse. It's always easier to see and especially judge from an objective, outsider POV.
Probably because they are the type of person to always blame the other party instead of the cheater, especially considering op is a woman they might have the mindset of "oh she tried to seduce him and ruin the wedding" or something like that, some people see these things as if some woman put a spell on the husbands and the oh poor man didn't have a choice at all, it's insane
My favorite Reddit stories bit is when characters from each story slowly becomes intertwined with all the other stories in the make believe world where they all happen as we’re hearing them
i need an episode where shayne gets told they are not filming reddit stories that week cuz they don’t have any stories planned up, and then he walks in and it’s countney or amanda who is wearing a shayne inspired outfit and holding the ipad and shayne gets read the stories to and it’s just reddit stories that seem very shayne specific like marrying my bestfriend or being short 😭

I don’t know if I would be brave enough to even confront him the next morning. It’s so vulnerable, especially at someone else’s house.

23:00 : The girl « testing her friendship » with the white dress definitely wanted OP out of her life. Sounds like a set up to ditch her.
I was legit hoping that this was going to be, “haha plot twist, I’m the other bride, we’re super gay married now.” Side note, how much do you want to bet that the person who does “friendship tests” is messily divorced, or only technically married because brokezilla can’t afford the filing fees?
AAAAAA I posted this before the update and AAAAAAaaaa
No friendship tests are stupid. I once had a coworker tell me the wrong way to pronounce her name as one, I went out of my way to confirm with her how to say it. She then throws me under the bus months later for being “disrespectful” and using the wrong name because if I respected her then I would have figured it out. Bullshit. We are grown and I should be able to trust people to tell me their damn name right the first time.
She sounds crazy. I'd stay away from her.
That’s absolutely BONKERSSSSSS
Hope you gave em a piece of your mind, ofc in corpo speak for job reasons and not wanting to get fired
That was pure evil of your co-worker to do that to you.
i feel like the bride knew what she was doing and tried to humiliate her at the wedding because no way she expected OP to not listen to her
I think it was very one sided friendship, she just used her for money and help with the wedding and then purposely got rid of her at the wedding day and did it in a really cruel way to have a strong reasoning and power over this whole situation to justify her actions
Like "i know she helped a lot but she was wearing white that's why i humiliated her and we can't be friends anymore"
I firmly believe the husband propositioning OP was another “test” by Charlotte to catch OP as a “bad friend” following the wedding
@@spaceface320 there’s a side of me that thinks that the husband actually would have liked to make out with her but I do think it was another “test”
That is a dope idea and a nice break from tradition
Wow, that must have looked spectacular! Were the men in white too?
She must have figured that loving would be easy if her colors were like Culture Club's dreams. (Sorry, I'll see my old self out. 😂)
In the clown wedding story, the part where the mother-in-law tells the daughter that she "should have put her foot down and made sure her son had a classy wedding" is infuriating. The wife is not responsible for the husband's actions or choices, and it is weird that the mother-in-law thinks OP should control her husband.
THANK U why does it have to be placed on the daughter in law rather than the son??? press ur son not his wife, why are u placing the blame on the woman? it doesn’t make sense i’m so happy to find another comment saying this
Also it was a shared idea they both chose this wedding
olivia and amanda saying that they should keep the peace really pissed me off. that MIL is so toxic.
The only plausible reason she is mad is cause she is scared of clowns, even though he was pretty much there to babysit and entertain The kids
49:54 hard disagree. Weddings are about the couple and them having a great day together. Any family members that make it about them should be shunned.

Clown couple sounds like an absolute joy. They found someone to match their whimsy, that’s adorable!
@@Tentaclestudio1 But why not at her own son? Why is she pissed at the daughter in law?
@@mavvi3303 maybe because MIL thinks her son is perfect? or just the opposite- MIL is thinks it's her son's 'dumb idea' and is identifying with DIL : thinking that no woman would want that clown wedding- I (MIL) would have put my foot down and said no to it, so DIL should have said no to it too.

If she wanted proof, the " no go" pile is proof enough of her friends mindset about weddings.
Shayne’s wedding pictures and clown conspiracy at around 45 min is absolutely hilarious and comedy gold! 🤣😂🤣
The mother in that story took things too personal though I agree with that
@@Penquinn14 I mean, the clown was there for the kids that came. They just included the clown in some of the photos for fun.

Wedding friendship test story: 120% the bride would’ve freaked out if OP had worn something else outside of the white dress because she didn’t do what the bride wanted. The bride just wanted drama.
Yep, it's definitely the kind of "test" that's actually just a trap. No matter what you do, it's wrong.
I don't trust a friend that has to _test_ a friendship.

This is something to keep in mind in general. I don’t buy a lot of lingerie so I didn’t know that.

@@MiraBoo I'd bet money that 'who put these ideas into your head' is a phrase she piecked up from her parents.
@@MiraBoo There's a classic phrase that always come to mind when I see this, you can grow up into your parents if you begin fearing what they do too much
Which happens a lot, you turn into a version of your parents, by trying not too, it's very weird and paradoxical but it's incredibly sad and crazy how often it happens.

THIIISSSSS
As a parent, I can't imagine being so mad about anything regarding my kids' wedding(if or whenever they happen).
That makes sense. Stuff like this is so complex and individual

However, this was the first time Charlotte did something big enough for Op to notice which is why is feels so out of the blue for her

theory on the white dress story: the husband has been feeding his wife this story of OP being in love with him because he is attracted to her in some way; so he’s been causing a rift between the 2 friends w/o OP knowing. the “test” could be the wife’s way of testing the validity of this story, in a “you want to be me and marry my man” kinda way. this is the only justification i could possibly come up with for the weird out-of-nowhere proposition
i highly doubt that, she sounds a lot more unhinged than him, and i actually think its the other way round. all she wanted was OP's money and then to cut off the friendship, which is why she created this friendship test, so now she could be like "i know she helped me but i had to cut her off because she did suuuch an unacceptable thing at my wedding!!". and then she asked the boyfriend to ask her that thing
So great to see Olivia on the couch! I know people rag on her for being weird, but I think she's great.

Why is it so difficult to just accept that it's super straight people who are homophobic and that it's these people who think being slightly "unmasculine" (however they choose to define that) will "turn them gay?"
Every time someone shows signs of homophobia or is blatantly homophobic, people have to say "they must be so far in the closet" or something along the lines of "scared of their true sexuality." That shit is annoying and so exhausting.

Fun fact, Spencer’s Gifts also owns Spirit Halloween
I’m not from the US so I always thought Spencer’s was kinda like an old fashioned furniture/shoe store but apparently it’s almost like a Claire’s??
@froufroudeluxe Its more like Hot Topic for adults if you have that. Its a lot of Fandom stuff and weed paraphernalia. The further back in the store the more "adult" it gets. The entire back wall/section is usually sex toys/costumes (and I mean costumes, theyre goofy)/ etc

“Welcome back to Reddit Stories, I’m Shayne” hearing that always makes my morning!!
@@joevictor53 it’s always nice to love your mom and honor your mom if she is like… deserving of it. Which a lot of moms are. But moms who believe their kids’ weddings are for them and get upset when it’s not?? They don’t deserve the extra work! The wedding isn’t for them!
Really, really appreciate what Amanda and Shayne said about giving grace to people in a situation where there is abuse. It's always easier to see and especially judge from an objective, outsider POV.
What is crazy about the third story is that, the family members that heard the wife's husband said that he will sleep with op, still on the wife side.
