I’m a Scouse that moved to canada in 1967 with the family. I started in the plumbing trade in 1979. Still at it 45 years later. Great seeing different methods and equipment over ome. You may want to invest in a couple of tripod options to free up your second hand. Cheers brother.
Cheers mate. You was quite local to me. I’m from Wigan :) I do have a couple of tripods. It just takes longer sometimes to set the bloody things up haha
Great video, you modern day plumbers need to be well genned up on the new stuff. Really like watching you working, and showing us amateurs how to do the job. Peace and goodwill.
Interesting video and brilliant work, as usual, Dan! That earth connection 😱 Found similar connection (in my case for live and neutral, even worse as the wires just dropped out!) behind one of my kitchen sockets! That’s sparkies for you!
Another great video and yeah vans are great when they’re working and only as good as the mechanics that you find to work on them, far too complicated to work on yourself anymore!
Great to see you changing the syphon washer mate instead of making a meal and a fortune out of an otherwise simple and reasonably cheap job. These washers were called flap valves in my day. You would buy them as a big square that cost about 20p and cut them to size with scissors. For a smooth and long lasting operation you would then coat the inside of the syphon body with petroleum jelly that would remain there for about 5 years. I know it sounds crazy to you young fella.
I normally do a full strip down if it had the original electrodes I suspect it's never been stripped down top burner seal front seal barring platt and electrodes £100 in parts + labour Dan

i wouldnt have touched the drain off valve. i wouldve just open taps n water in vessel will get pumped out n drained thru open taps. if i had to open the old sticky drain off valve, i wouldve heated it up unsweat it n replace for 15mm pipe with 15mm iso on it, easy drain down in future, if it ever fails, it will only be a 15mm valve to change, easily done soon as water is turned off, replace valve with left over water easy no problem.
@@Heatking I'd imagine so but you killed power for a good while so might've hard reset it?? You'll probably be back next week with a new synchron motor if not 😂
Domestic hot water expansion vessel works opposite to heating expansion vessels (in most cases), you was pumping up the vessel and compressing the bag, not pumping up the bag, also a 8mm open ended spanner works well on drain cocks, saves chewing up the drain cock shaft. Just being helpful not criticizing
100% sure. The schrader valve is connected to the vessel not the bag/bladder. You can use DHW vessels on heating systems but not heating system vessels on DHW. They tell you on the G3 course. Have a google and see.@@chrisgray5903
100% sure. You are pumping air into the vessel not the bladder, when the hot water expands it goes into the compressed bladder and pushes against the air in the vessel. This is so the water doesn't come into contact with the metal part of the vessel which would cause corrosion. Have a google and see. @@chrisgray5903
I'm a bit surprised that you bother to repair an old fashioned cistern flush when a new one costs about £8.00. I usually fit a push button flush as it upgrades the old toilet!!
