    Brian, as a PT, I’m always happy to watch and understanding your videos are top notch and fascinating to listen to! Would you have any opinion or possibility of doing a video on the susceptibility to injury that big men have in the NBA? We always hear about Embiid’s, Zion’s, AD injuries etc. I’d be interested to see if there’s just a correlation between larger anatomy and the higher forces of the NBA being an unfortunate mix. I also understand that each case is different and can’t be generalized. But just a nerdy thought! Keep grinding 💪🏾

    Hey Doc! Always enjoy your content and analysis as I have been practicing as a doctor of physical therapy for the past 24 years. My take on Kuminga landing directly on the patella itself, it could easily aggravate an existing chondrolamacia condition especially since he's had recent reported soreness and swelling in that left knee. In my experience, it would almost have to be direct trauma pinpointing right at the patellar tendon itself as it attaches to the tibial tuberosity for there to be any pain and Kuminga's backside shouldn't/wouldn't be that pointed. Again just throwing in my 2 cents to add to your brilliant analysis. Would love to collab with you so feel.free to reach out should you have any interest to do so!

    Embiid's collapse, as he puts weight on his left leg, sure looks like secondary pain in his left patella. I suffered from patellar tendonitis for years and there were many occasions when walking up the stairs I felt like my right leg was about to collapse. Nature's way of reminding me to either avoid the stairs altogether for a while or find a way to give that joint some extra support. I sure hope Joel Embiid take the time he needs to fully recover from whatever his injury/injuries are.

He got injured vs Pacers, then was out vs Denver and everyone said he ducked, but no one said that when he missed Portland and then was noticeably hobbled in this Warriors game. Now he's hurt (again) because of the 65 game requirement for NBA awards now and his contract incentives and maybe to prove a point to the disrespectful fans out there.

    • @theunderdawg.
      @theunderdawg. 3 месяца назад +1

      @@406dn7 Being nicknamed "street clothes" is entirely different from being accused of ducking games. Embiid has had dominant games against the best teams in the East, not just weak teams. His "begging" was attributed to him being bluntly honest about being runner up while the media constantly covered Philly and the process drama. It was always blown into way more than what it was. And as for playoff success, Embiid's been unlucky, but I do believe in him eventually get over the hump, the same way Giannis and Jokic had to for awhile. The difference is Giannis and Jokic were relatively under the radar their first years playing in the league whereas Embiid from the get go played in a bigger market with way more pressure that is full of circus show headlines, boneheaded decision making and drama that is difficult to win in unless your name is Lebron. Embiid getting criticized is completely fine just like any other superstar but the narratives about him crying and ducking are complete bullshit when you really look into it and don't just follow NBA crowdspeak.

When we see swelling in the knee it’s typically a result of an acute injury to the articular cartilage, degenerative arthritic wear, or a ligamentous injury. Embiid has history of partial meniscectomy which means his meniscus is no longer functioning at 100% which means more stress on the joint surface. A lot of guys will never understand the amount of pain 7 footers in the League go through on a day-to-day basis until they've gone through it themselves. And not all 7 footers are created equal. Praying for a speedy recovery for Joel. I know Joel didn't want this to happen, but this might be a blessing in disguise. He'll be fresh come playoff time, but that isn't guaranteed either.

    I hope he doesn’t miss much time. Living in the Philly market I get to see all the games and this is the best chemistry I’ve seen when everyone is healthy. Maxey, Harris, Batum, Melton and Embiid with a second unit of Pat Bev, Oubre, Marcus Morris and a couple others they are solid vets that have that gritty edge to them. You’ll see the frustration on the other teams faces as they talk smack all game and play aggressive D.

    • @406dn7

      No, it's basketball, Embiid had the ball cleanly stolen from him and Kuminga was going for the ball. There was no foul called.

    • @dreigen
      @dreigen 3 месяца назад +1

      I wouldn't necessarily call this particular play reckless. But it definitely sucked in terms of the outcome for Embiid. In order to get control of the ball properly from his position, he kind of had to angle his body so that he can cradle the ball much like a football player would when they're trying to make sure they're not fumbling. This amount of contact on the leg/knee, most people would just be able to shrug off. Unfortunately, Embiid isn't the type who can shrug it off given his history of the injuries. Also if we're talking about reckless dives, there was a play earlier where Embiid definitely was reckless diving towards draymond lol. The play earlier where Beverley inadvertantly pushed Kuminga from behind while Kuminga was clearly ahead going up for the basket could have ended horrifically much like the way it did for Klay Thompson. But, because the injury didn't happen, its all smiles.. for now. The bigger concern really was... why the heck was he even playing?? His legs were buckling on their own. No fan nor team staff wants their star player to play with such major issues there...
