I'm not sure why being "sexualized" is a bad thing? why do we just assume that sexy = bad? they look great. I think we should go the opposite direction, let more characters be sexy.
Harribel even explains in an omake bit that she has to not wear clothes with her released form because all the water will soak the fabric; it's a silly reason, but you really can't argue with that logic. Also, yeah, Mila Rose's exposed skin isn't necessarily sexualization, it just contrasts her with the tomboyish Apacci and the taciturn Sun-Sun: Franceska's open, proud, and intimidating. As she says in her Brave Souls quote, "There are things I refuse to compromise on!"
@bobowon5450 because when EVERY woman of color is sexualized that's when it's a problem. It become fetishism. There's nothing wrong with sexy, I even make characters sexy in my seties, BUT it's offset with modestly dressed people to not have EVERYONE of a particular group have their tits out.
There is also Jackie who is less sexualised ig ? Also considering Bleach does get a Gyaru character in the hell anniversary one shot and it's presented as this new stuff that slide in from the human world to the spiritual world I would consider Hallibel to be black otherwise it wouldn't be a new thing for that character.

Anime fans will watch a 30 min video explaining the meaning behind a characters outfit and name and then complain about a 3 min video that talk about its representation of real world races. This is worthwhile discussion, dont let people tell you its not. Personally i think its worth bringing up how many dark-skinned characters in bleach end up transforming into animals/monsters. Its most of them by my count.
Jackie, chad, pepe, yoruichi, mili rose, oetsu, yushiro don't turn into monsters Zomari and Tousen do turn into monsters. Given that a large portion of the cast of bleach are literally comprised of people whos entire gimmick is turning into monsters i'd say that's a pretty normal proportion?
@@bobowon5450 Mila Rose, funnily enough, is the member of the Tres Bestias whose released form is NOT animalistic--her lion traits simply manifest in claw-shaped clothes and a mane-like crown (Apacci becomes a deer-girl and Sun-Sun a naga). The same goes for Harribel, who actually LOSES her monstrous appearance and becomes almost angelic. Tosen's transformation into the giant cricket is meant to be a sign of how much of his humanity was lost. And Lille Barro is an angel--and unlike the aforementioned Harribel, it's not into a majestic, winged, beautiful creature, but the kind of angel that would have to say "BE NOT AFRAID!" upon appearing.
Do we really need representation in everything most of Japan only see black on the internet just let them tell their story race doesn't matter i just want a good story
@seretseandrews5980 well the problem is japan is a MAJOR consumer of blk culture content, music, fashion, our culture mannerisms. So if they are such big consumers of OUR content then they can represent us problem in the medium we've influenced. Dandandan open is confirmed to use black dances and Inspo for their OP
@DSOProd but all that is what they see on the internet doesn't mean they have to include us in there storys i watching anime since i was a kid when it was not popular and looked down on for watchin anime. The west has taking interest in it now and all the same same things you mentioned the has done the same did Japanese people ask for representation in their media no all they ask is that we respect there culture and history they don't really write black people because all their info comes from the internet Japan is 98% Japanese people if they do have black characters they are characteristics and features are black but still they are still Japanese because that's the culture they know.
@DSOProd the French is a MAJOR consumer of Japanese content, culture, music, fashion etc but they dont demand representation us as black people have to stop trying to insert ourselves in everything and just make our own there is manga coming out made by a black man with black characters I'm goin to support that instead of trying to insert myself in foreign media p.s if the story is cheeks im dropping it because it does matter about the skin color of the characters is the story good
Wait did he just forget about Tosen? What about Zommari? Jackie? Lille Barro? Almost every faction we've seen has atleast one black person in it.

@@swan3swan exactly. They're not just sexy, they're proud of who they are. I see that as just as valid as a more modestly dressed character.

@bobowon5450 nothing is wrong with sexy, but when u sexualize EVERY black woman, it goes from sexy to fetish and that's not okay
@@DSOProd I don't think the quality determines when it becomes fetishism.

@glowcloudwheatproducts495 thank you so much! After what I experienced in film history class, I'll never not talk about the importance of this subject
