What is your guys thoughts on the voiceover style during the installs? I feel like its less of a "hangout" vibe but I feel my instructions are much more concise and easier to follow. What do you think?
Cameron Alford wasn’t the rain crazy? i was able to spin through second in my civic😂 but people don’t know how to drive at all in the rain
loved the voice over
Made me horny 👍🏻
Dude, before I saw this comment I was going to scroll down and say something about it. I like it because when people are speaking instructions out we sometimes lose the words we are wanting or just cant convey what needs to be said in a concise way. This gives you that room to be able to think what needs to be said and explain what really needs deeper explanations.
Thanks dude, this is def my favorite car channel
I wish there were part numbers and more information on exactly what pads and rotors these are other than just a link to hawk's website their website does not show pictures has a giant list of different offerings
i've done upgraded brakes on my previous cars. for safety, you should always pump the brakes to get the pedal feel back before you even roll back out of the garage. new pads and rotors should come with a proper "bedding in" procedure. usually several stops of different speeds and brake pressures. there should be instructions in the packaging.
great videos though, keep em coming!
For the rear brake piston, if you are able to get leverage, you can use needle nose pliers to push+turn the piston clockwise. If you're having trouble getting leverage, you can pop your rotor off, reinstall the caliper w/o pads and you can get a lot more pressure and control
Just found your channel about a month ago and I really enjoy your videos, and I’m seriously interested in a Focus ST. I like that there is no ego or “clout chasing” mentality to your videos that so many others in the car community seem to have. No bullshit, just cars and detailed instructions, keep it up, hope to be part of the focus family soon.
Get you a set of Muteki SR48 lug nuts, so you're ready for aftermarket wheels that may or may not be white.
Just did this yesterday to my 2017. This video was clutch (I had watched it 2 years ago or so when I found your channel for the Focus ST content, watched it a couple more times as a refresher right before I started) for being ahead of the curve for any little stuff I might encounter on my first effort to replace these brakes/rotors. Thanks for putting it out there dude!
Make sure the hub face is clean before fitting the new disc, bits of crud/corrosion can cause brake judder. A smear of copper grease helps removal next time. Good vids man!
FYI for those that try to do the rear pads...compressing the piston is pretty simple with just a pair of needle nose pliers...push down and turn at the same time, works for me. I've found the 'specialty' tools don't seem to work very well unless they're the expensive ones shops use since they have to rely on them on a much higher volume of usage.
As a Ford employee I can agree that the lug nuts are garbage. Also I would look into a solid rear motor mount for the dog bone. It gets rid of most wheel hop and makes shifting feel more precise IMO
love the st videos, cant wait to see the final build !
@cameron Alford when you pressed the traction control button you simply put it in sport mode. if you want to really turn traction control on press and hold the traction control button for a few seconds and a warning will come up on the dash display advising that you're about to turn traction control off. thats when the fun really begins lol good luck with the build!
Great video, voice-overs are cool, I wish each segment were marked somehow by you telling us the very first thing to do, like "now go get your can of seafoam so we can get these rotors off".
But I came here to say grease is dangerous near brakes and that was a lot of grease in the area. I think for brake newcomers it's important to specifically point out where the grease should be placed to eliminate any brake noise, but too much grease could get a newcomer in a serious accident. Just my thought, thanks for sharing your videos!
Autozone will rent the tools for the cylinder push. And was the reservoir cap popped when you pushed them back? Might explain why they were difficult.
For those rear brake pistons I’ve just used a pair of needle nose pliers and put them it the two hole in it and it ended up working just fine
What was the exact break kit you ordered? I might be dumb but I’ve got an ST and would love to run those breaks and rotors.
Follow
Rotors only made for the 2014 and less models (aka different front rotor size) I learned this the hard way lol. I do have the brake pads (check tire rack lol I think that’s where I found them) still and am thinking of getting the slotted rotors from either powerstop or r1 concepts.
Dude I’m loving these ST videos, I’m learning so much from them, love your content man! 👍🏻
Let’s go baby!! Another st video!!
Next vídeo!
Intercooler!
Or a DV+ Blow Off Valve! Its awesome I hope you love it!
Nice work keep it going! 😎🔥
Cameron you should get the turbosmart blow off valve. i put one on my st and it sounds amazing!
I got the break pads long time ago and probably need to buy them again, good thing I saw this video on the rotors 😏
I just ordered this exact brake setup about an hour ago. Hoping to do it myself as well, in order to save a few hundred bucks. How did you find them to be over time? Did they warp or wear out fast?
The overdub format of the dialogue is a great choice btw.
Also, I use a 3/4" Impact socket, and loosen them by hand with my torque wrench, and install them by hand too. I find using impact guns a bad practice, as they can damage the lugs, or your rims too easily.
I have an easier way of doing the rear ones. Use the clamp from the opposite side and screw in until it is lightly tight. Then use the pliers at the same time while screwing in the clamps. Make sure both rotate at the same time and should be done in less than a minute with minimum effort.
Great video. I'm gonna finally tackle this job myself soon. Looks easy! Good idea with c clamp to compress the piston.
Which one do you installed? Hb712z or hb851z for your fost +15
It seems to be the same size? Anyone can confirm?
Loving the ST videos 🔥🔥
St stock brakes are ford performance brakes. CRAZY good!! Still on my original brakes and stop great
Omg I been trying to find the exact kit that you have on that focus I have the same year and Im not sure what ones you got plz help me lol
Don’t bother unless you have an st made before 2014...I learned the hard way because they never made ones for different front rotor size (2014/2015+). Bought them and the front did not fit ofc. I do have the pads tho those are good. For the rotors look at power stop or r1 concepts
@@markcase913 Thanks! No wonder I couldn't find them.
@@bernardov5342 no problem! The pads should still be available I believe I found them on tire rack of all places
I love my Gorilla Spline Lug Nuts. They look good and are super easy to get on and off
The rear caliper tool is easy. Just gotta remember to use the backing plate to sit against the other side of the caliper. Then you just turn away. Then turn the socket with pliers to release it when it's fully retracted
Nice vid man. Make sure to bead the brakes in hard and if possible swap out the brake fluid for some high temp. (stock rotors are good even for track, most go for pads, fluid, and stainless brake lines)
Do intercooler next with an externally mounted blow off valve! CP-e has a great intercooler which I personally use and recommend. I would love to see an install with the with the CPE cold side charge pipe with a blowoff valve mounted.
Agreed about it the lugs. They suck.
When I replaced brakes first time they were thrashed and all janky and gouged
Great video! The car is looking better with each episode.
7:35 remove the cap on the brake fluid reservoir to give room for the fluid you'll be displacing as you push the caliper pistons back in. I'm sure you did, but newbies might not know. 😉
Any other recommendations? Can’t get the hawk ones because of my area and I Need to replace mine and want to switch to the slotted rotors as well but all the kits I find are stupid expensive not even for big brake!! Thank you :)
love the video but on the first set of pads you did, did you put the front pad on backwards? why was the grease facing outward if nothing touches the front of the pad?
GET NEW NUTS ASAP. Old ones got bloated on my 14 and got stuck in the socket :( I purchased these and they are doing great after half a year.
DPAccessories LCB3B6HE-BK04020 20 Black 12x1.5 Closed End Bulge Acorn Lug Nuts
Should you bleed them after because of compression the pistons? Might get rid of the mush. Look like nice rotors
No need. You can push the pistons back without breaking the lines. So you never introduce air to the line.
just FYI the stock OEM brake pads and rotors are good for 125k miles, I'm doing my first brake service today. I live in southern California, lots of stop and go traffic, this car is my daily (unmodified bone stock '14 Focus ST), most reliable and durable car I have ever owned.
In theory I guess lol
Did you use rs brakes for your st that’s all hawk has available
How would you compare the ST and STI? I own ST and STI has always been one of my dream cars, I am afraid to dump money into the ST thinking someday I will just get the STI but financially speaking that is probably not going to happen anytime soon. Do you find the ST enjoyable enough that it would make me happy just having fun modifying it or you think the STI is worth the wait?
ST is fun but it's not in the same category as the STI. Focus ST is a great daily, Fords answer to the STI is the RS. I drove the ST and the RS back to back before I purchased the ST. I'd take 2 ST's before I bought the RS.
hello how are you can I asking a favor can you send the web page to buy this rotors I can't found it please and thanks Cameron Alford
Great video man! Thank you , always getting something new and some tips as well.
When I did the brakes on my Z I just took a rubber mallet and took one good swing at the rotor and she came clean off lol
BTW... WHAT!!! Great idea with the oil filter pliers. With the Z32 the regular caliper piston compressor won’t work since they are 4 piston (no room to get it in there)
Yo can you do a lugnut video because there’s like nothing out there on what lugs fit yes we know there 12mm x1.5 with a 60° Taper but there are a lot that won’t work with the Stock snowflakes. Was looking at Mishimoto lugs but don’t know if they will work because they say “for aftermarket wheels” and almost every other lug brand

Muteki SR48 all day!
what jack do you use?
Might need to pick this up for mine!
Do you really need to take the rear end link off?
SS brake lines would have been perfect while you were under there. The response time is so different when you hit the petal.
I got a focus st 2018 and im thinking to put a header, down pipe, and basically all the pipe do you recommend me any good brand for it?
Checkout part 3 in this series! 🙌🏼
What is the average install time for each wheel?
Protip for removing rotors. Thread your lug nuts back on the studs and hit in between them on the flat part of the rotor that your wheel mates to. Use a heavy hammer and a few good whacks the rotor will come right off. Save the oem crap lugs for this as they are there to protect your studs if you miss with the hammer.
Hey how you doing could you tell me how much the brakes for I would appreciate it and have great day
10:45 😲😵... dude does know there is a caliper tool for compressing and spinning in the calipers?
I bought power stop rotors and they squeak.. going to get rid of them
Have a feeling he’s getting tarmacs if he’s getting white wheels
You should revisit that area later with some 4 piston brembo brakes 👀
Just bought some merch!
Shoulda painted the calipers while you where there
why rice? why stop at calipers might aswell start painting random shit in your engine bay
What's the torque spec for torquing back the dics?
Tight, then a 1/4 turn more lol
Can you do a video on how to safely jack the focus st up and put it on jack stands
ABSOLUTELY
@@CameronAlford awesome, thank you sir I appreciate it!
@@muncker3 ruclips.net/video/wiAzPfuVUfg/видео.html Just uploaded it!
@@CameronAlford your the man!
Dang I wish I watched this vid a couple days ago when I first saw it, I struggled with the lug nuts earlier today when I went to install wheel spacers. Mangled a few of them with the pneumatic gun before I switched to a socket and breaker bar, and even that messed up the factory lugs, they really are trash..
What is up with people not using gloves when working on cars?
they look backwards... you'd want the slots to bite into the pad no?
Stock brakes and rosters are more than enough
lol just get some good pads. If you’re running on the track ok I get it but for a daily nah
I feel like drill and slotted brakes for daily are a very expensive cosmetic upgrade
Nice vid dude! Thanx 👍👍
Why didn’t you post on insta bruh that’s how I know to watch you not disappointed I’m js homie
Передний диск ты поставил меньшего диаметра чем стоял, тормозной момент будет хуже и часть колодки будет незадействована.
💪these videos are great
Ford lug nuts tend to swell up over time and are a pain to take off! 😂
Ryan Horman yea I work at a shop and almost every ford that comes in have swollen lug nuts. Shits crazy😂
Broooo how did you NOT pray those calipers red when u had them loose? cmon man
hey dude . nice video, i have a focus st build channel so loved seeing this pop up, you should check it out. :D
"these lug nuts on this car SUCK" I went to put in my bov and EVERY SINGLE LUG was spinning. needless to say I hammered all 20 lugs off and replacing them because of how pissed I was about those stupid chrome caps.
He didn't even burnish the pads. So you've ruined the pads for their life.
You should pump the brakes before you drive
STi?🙁
You forgot to bleed the brake system
why did not you work with bigdawstv?
11 mins ago? Fuckk lmao

Its all well and good to do your brakes the easy way, until you tear the piston boot. Just do it the right way and don't give shitty advice.
So true about the grab on the brakes lmao it’s great but definitely an adjustment 😅
