Well, I have a solution for you that is super easy, and super gorgeous! I used a window film and went a step further by adding products used to when making stain glass windows to give the look and illusion of real stain glass. This is a super easy home improvement idea! Yay !
I love your wonderful help...Especially during these difficult days.
I've wondered about these products.
You are great.
Thank you. 👏 🌷
Love this project.
The fan btw, looks wonderful too. Good choice and execution of both. 👌
Well, thank you for making my day! I appreciate that more than you know! Have a wonderful evening, and stay safe and healthy!
I ADORE how you share "lower cost" ways to do projects on your channel. This is so practical and appreciated!
You are so welcome!
Jennifer what a beautiful and inexpensive project. Love it.
How perfect!! I love your creative mind, I love projects like that! I have been so busy with tackling projects that I honestly have not been bored. One thing I did was, I painted my refrigerator, the first Monday of the shutdown I went to lowes early and bought a new stove and microwave, mine were done, the oven wouldn't heat and they were bisque color. My refrigerator is a french door and it has an ice maker that works like an ice machine and we have had zero problems with it so I just couldn't justify buying a new refrigerator. I had painted my refrigerator and freezer that's in our garage because they just looked awful and I repainted the garage and thought what the hay I have nothing to loose. I was alittle more hesitant about the refrigerator in my kitchen but went ahead and painted it black matte and sprayed the handles with a dark metallic paint that's a new color from krylon.
The sidelights turned out beautifully! I also like you you and your husband compromised on the fan, it looks great!
Thanks so much! 😊
WOW! I love that idea. I have a sidelight as well and I may just look into doing this as well. Love the ceiling fan transformation as well.
Thank you so much!
Love the sidelights. Great diy thanks for showing! Stay safe also!
Good choice on the fan...it looks wonderful! Love the “stained glass” too. You have the best ideas! Thank you for sharing...
Thanks so much! 😊
Perfection Jennifer !!
Oh I love this idea! At my previous home I used those little side panel sheers on little rods for privacy. I would have switched to your idea in a heartbeat! Beautiful job on the ceiling fan. You took something generally not very attractive and utilitarian and made it so lovely for your space.❤️ Thanks so much for the inspiration!
Well, thank you so much for watching! Have a great evening.
Clever, Love the idea!!! (as always, you are an amazing Lady).
Thank you so much!
I loved this! I’m always brainstorming how to get natural light through windows while still maintaining privacy.
Misty Waters thank you. I do love how it turned out and that I didn’t spend a ton of money! 😊
You're incredible 😃
Wow, thank you!
I have been needing to do this for years! People can see me through our sidelights sitting in my pj's at the kitchen counter. Thank you for this great tutorial.
You can do it!
Wow!!! Sidelights look so authentic - beautiful! And I love the ceiling fan with your layered painting, Jennifer - absolutely exquisite!) Thanks so much for showing us what your hands created! You have more talent in your little Finger than many of us do in both hands, lol! Thanks, too, for being so down to earth and encouraging - hugs!
Susan Johnson well I don’t know about that. But thank you for watching!!🌸
How excited am I that I stumbled across your channel!! Thank you for this tutorial!!!
That is the neatest thing I’ve ever seen. I usually use “frost” spray paint for windows. Glad your doing well!
Thanks 👍
This is exactly what I needed for my front door. Thank you so much. You are an answer to my problem. Enjoyed your video so much.😇

I love this window covering idea. Years ago I used wax paper to cover my exposed windows. Recently we used this new product on a door in our garage. There are many styles at Lowe’s and easy to apply and let’s light in without worry.
You are so right! They are great!
Such a great idea!
You did a wonderful job. Looks fantastic!
Love it! Also love love the fan, beautiful!!
Thank you for posting this video! I’m moving into a new house next month and I also felt the sidelights were to open. I will like the privacy with the clings. I also wanted to tell you how much I enjoy watching your videos! 😊
Well, thank you so much!
That is brillant adding the finishing leadlight touches! I have used privacy frost to my bathroom windows and bought a leadlight look film also. I live in an old Queenslander and bought the leadlight film to go on glass above a door. Your video came at just the right time. Thanks.
Yeah! Have a great week!
Wow that fan!
Looks amazing. So creative and clever

That turned out great. I have a solid front door and leaded glass side windows. You did a wonderful job on this. I wouldn’t have known it wasn’t real if you had not showed the before window. You always give us great do it yourself projects. Thanks Jennifer.

Great idea for the sidelights. We have them in our foyer and I have often wondered how to make them more"private". They turned out awesome. Your bedroom ceiling fan looks so nice. Again another enjoyable video. Stay safe and well. God bless!

Well, I wish I had done it a year ago!! Now I don't feel so exposed! Have a great evening.
Awesome...of course you make it look soooo easy!
It truly was! You can do it!
I used that window cling on my bathroom window. It's a large (for a bathroom) window and I just felt like I had no privacy. I love how it looks now. Oh! and I LOVE what you did to your ceiling fan !
I'm so glad that worked for you! And thank you!
I loved your project!!! I saw your project just in time, I was about to call a glass company to come and replace the whole panel. Thank you so much! :)
Glad I could help! It was a great and easy solution!
...Although this is an older Video...I am ALWAYS " Re- doing " Ceiling Fans....it elevates the look of them to blend in with the Aesthetics in ones home . I purchased a ceiling fan at a Garage sale, for 10 $, ..it was a good fan, but ugly finishes. I knew with paint, some time invested that it would look great in my kitchen, (even though I rent my residence, there was a hard wired light in there, which made having the Fan put up easy) . It looks great, it was process,...so , no... I do not think you are ' crazy ",...I would do the same thing!
( And I have been repainting and redoing things for years.. over 30 +... I'm over 60,... who knew it would turn into a ' business ",... )
We just did the same thing to our front door! I absolutely love your videos!
Awesome! Thank you!
I just did this method. I live in a crowded street. So I don't have to deal with seeing construction workers constantly. It's nice. For my bedroom as well as the living room.
Beautiful sidelights, makes me want to do mine. Then I would be able to open my blinds.
Go for it!!
This is a great and relaxing video to watch!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great windows.
Thank you!
The extra touches on the windows made a real difference, good idea. Regarding the micro fibre cloths , they are used a lot in the UK and the instructions that come with them state they can be used wet or dry but to only use water to wet them, they state that chemicals block the micro fibres and they then aren't as efficient ( it's also cheaper : ) bonus ) for windows I tend to use one wet and one dry to buff but if the glass isn't very dirty just the wet one is fine. No smears, I love them.
Well, good night!! I didn't know that! Thank you for teaching me! have a great day.
Loved Semi Homemade.
Me too!
Great solution to both issues! Do a Q&A....ask for questions on Instagram...we’d all love getting to know you and your family better😀
Great idea!!
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
Super cool window idea. I would love to see how you took a plain fan and made it so pretty.
Well, I put way more time in it, than most people would want to mess with. BUT, I am quarantined. ha
love it love you
Aw thank you!!
nice job
Nice job on the fan! You made it look very expensive. Thanks for the tip.
Thanks for watching!
Love it, love you too.
Joanna Sheridan 😊😊
I love your idea. I have the same problem at home. I think I will do the same!
You can do it!
Beautiful!! Did you line all of the criss crosses with the metal ribbon or did you just go down the sides, top and bottom? Love your videos!! Have gotten good ideas from your floral arranging. Keep them coming
Did she ever answer your question about leading the crisis cross lines?
Your sidelights look so nice Jennifer! I am going to use this in my master bath window that faces our street. I need to update my old ceiling fans which are 18 years old. Last week I was wondering if I could paint them and you gave me that answer! Thank you!
You should!
Love the side light idea. I have the same situation, maybe I'll do this too. Also, isn't it great when our husband is right once in a while. After all that rarely ever happens. Like how you changed it.
Have you ever shown us your kitchen? I am sure it's fabulous.
Our kitchen has not hit the renovation mode yet. I'm afraid you would not be too impressed. But, it get the job done!
Would you give me some ideals of what I can use for window coverings besides blinds please thanks Shirley from Birmingham Al.
What a beautiful job you did Jennifer! I just found you on RUclips. I'm a subscriber now!
I wonder if you have any ideas on how to make elegant kitchen nook window coverings. We have a sliding door that faces the neighbors and we use it quite often to take the dogs in and out.
Fantastic!! I wonder if the film accepts different paints so we could have a COLORFUL stained glass!
What a great idea Jennifer! I have plantation shutters on mine, but this looks great. Quick question…do you remember where you got your lantern sconces? I’m looking for something like those.
Trust me, those faux lead strips stick and last!! I used them on the front of my glass kitchen cabinets over 20 years ago and even with cleaning they last!! Yes, you need to have the liquid faux lead to fill in the connection gaps and gives it an authentic look. Very safe to use, no real lead. My Mom even had me do her cabinets after she saw mine!! I imagine they still exist unless the new owners scraped them off. Definitely want to get these clings!
Oh good to hear! Yes, mine has lasted many months- even through cleaning! I've been very happy with them!
Backsplash application would be a great view. Tile , peel n stick, or painting it
Great thought!
Wow very nice job! I wish i could use this on my side lights, but in my area i feel i would need a little more privacy. But it came out absolutely gorgeous. I will look forward to doing it in my next house 😁. I also love what you did with the ceiling fan. I want to take mine down but im afraid i wouldnt know how to put it back lol. So a video on how you did that treatment and how you install one would be great. Just a suggestion. Anyway im so glad i found your channel and im a new subscriber today!! 🤗
Thank you! Welcome to the channel!
Wow! What stain did you use for that ceiling paneling?! Love the color.
Can people still see through at night when you have the lights on inside of the house?
Ok righty then 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Finally… I strolled through the comments to see if anyone else was gonna ask about the nighttime privacy and he you are. My front door has an arched window that is directed into the kitchen and living room area. I like the idea of the covering but still a lil concerned about someone being able to see me in my t shirt and drawers late night snacking in the kitchen. Let me know if its night proof thanks
Until there’s a product that mimics beveled glass then I won’t be fooled, but I LOVE the fan and would love to see that process! 😊
As always, I enjoy your decorating tips. I added a similar film to our sidelights several years ago for the same reason. I recently asked my husband about painting our ceiling fans, how you did your fan looks perfect!
I will definitely try this on my bedroom fan. In South Texas, ceiling fans are a must😉
Hello there, Well, I added Venetian plaster all over the fan to give it texture, Then I painted it gold and in some spots brown. Next, I chalk painted over it, and used a wet rag to rug some of the chalk paint off in order to see the other paint color come through. The last think I did was add a coat of Polyacrylic. It wasn't hard, just time consuming. But to me, it was worth it.
Awesome! Needed this idea for a client's 19th century home where shutters and shades just didn't fit the style and time period. I have a good idea for a topic: drapes come 84" and 95" standard. Most homes have crown molding; therefore, the rod can only go up to about 90-92" from floor. Tailoring is expensive and annoying. Any tips to shorten drapes without sewing?
So beautiful! Mine have panels so that won’t work for me unfortunately :( what color is the wall paint in your foyer? It’s gorgeous!!
