He started out with his pal Buddy Holly, and his kindness to the Big Bopper spared his life, he later found a new brother in Willie, and two more in Johnny and Kris, and together those four became the most famous Highwaymen since the James gang. He found a lasting love in Jessi, and earned immorality in the hearts of all who love country music. He is now playing gigs in Heaven with his idol Hank Williams and his buddies Buddy Holly and Johnny Cash, but not long from now the Highwaymen will reunite for one helluva of a reunion show. Until that day when we will be able to see him, and buds perform, we have the music he left us, and I will take it any day. Rest well Hoss.

😮"This guy named John has been coming into my work for years. When I mentioned that my girlfriend and I are heading to Vietnam next week, he shared something remarkable. John told me he was there during the fall of Saigon, serving as a Marine. He was part of the mission that helped orphan babies get on evacuation planes and helicopters.
I paused for a moment and then told him, 'I was one of those babies.' His eyes welled up as he looked at me, and he softly said that he might have held me in his arms during that rescue mission, part of Operation Babylift.
We talked for a while, and I thanked him from the bottom of my heart for his service and the kindness he showed all those years ago. Before we parted, he told me he’ll sleep better tonight, knowing that one of those small, innocent babies grew up to have a better life in America.
John, you are truly an amazing man. Thank you again for your service! I’m no longer an orphan." ❤️ ❤️❤️

I was REALLY lucky! I spent a long time as a disc jockey in Country radio and I got to interview Waylon numerous times. Most of the time we just chatted on the phone, but sometimes the interviews got really deep as we talked seriously about music. Waylon was a GREAT human being. And I’m extremely fortunate to have called him a friend.

I love this song and miss this man. He was disrespected in Country Music when he was alive and he still is even in death. Waylon to me what Johnny is to everyone else true talent.

I love Waylon when he's in a good mood. I love his smile, his laugh, his gravelly voice, his joking around (telling the cigarette to stay right there), his singing, his playing, and don't even get me started on his good looks....I guess I just love Waylon, pure and simple!

Linda Bollinger one of the things most people either don’t realize or forget about him was how he came up in the music industry. He started back when people went to a show to be entertained and he learned from some of the best there was.

We had the pleasure of seeing what may well have been one of the most influential groups of country legends of this or any century when we enjoyed Waylon, Willie, Tompall & of course one of Country Music's most beautiful ladies ever, Jessie Coulter (or Mrs. Waylon, whichever you prefer). It was at Hampton Coliseum in Hampton Virginia and they were amazing. I'll never forget that when the show ended and the lights came up, the smoke was so thick it was like a thick fog in there. (And just so we're clear, very little of it was cigarette smoke (if you know what I mean...lol)

I have always loved Waylon, even before he sang country. Sure glad that he did not get on that plane with Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the "Big Bopper" on February 5, 1959, "The Day the Music Died".

He gave up his seat to the big bopper. Buddy Holly told him " hope your ole bus freezes up ". Waylons reply was " I hope your planes crashes" he lived with that for years always said he was living on borrowed time

As a Limey at 19 I was introduced to country music driving to small towns across Alberta Canada for several years from 1974 to 1980. Once you left the city all you could get was small town radio stations. I latched on pretty darn quick. I listened to all the greats but my all time favorite was and still is Faster Horses, Younger woman yes haw.
