I just discovered waylon. Well, I've heard about him in the past. I always thought he would sound like todays mainstream music. I am in love with the sound. This is what true country sounds like I guess.
Absolute best. Nothing and nobody can ever come close. Had the privilege of seeing Waylon when I was about 8 years old. I have held onto that day for 32 years. I will never let go.🌹

I've been and still am a fan since I 1st heard him back in 1965. To me, he's the best C&W singer of all time; no exceptions. He could sing anything; i.e. MacArthur Park, Amanda, Lonesome, Onry & Mean. Damned near any song he chose to do in his incredible voice was better than the original. Can' t tell you how many people of the years that I've introduced to his music. R.I.P. Hoss!
I'll always remember me and my two brothers in the back seat of the my dads rusty Chevrolet going on a Sunday ride in the country with this on a 8 track it sounded so true to the day and the time no one said a word just listen and taking it all in ill never forget so when I hear Waylons music brings me back to those days ,RIP Mr. Jennings you are missed.

Yeah, You got it , Today's country pretty well sucks. I notice on a few covers of this song, he skips a verse. The one about, We got together and we cashed in our sweeps. Gave um to a beggar who was mumbling through the streets. It would be right after the instrumental. I loved that song, came out in about 1978 IIRC?
There's a few out there worth a shit but they don't sing pretty little cutesie songs while wearing fuckin skinny jeans like Creed Fisher but no matter what ain't no one can replace waylon and johnny and the hag.
@Nothing But Lunkers he might have more money but his music is still not country and still sucks. The fact that he is so popular speaks to the low caliber of taste of people today. And I would imagine the majority of his fan base is female kinda like the Male pop stars of the 90s and early 2000s. People can like whatever they want. And in turn I can make assumptions about their moral character and intelligence level based on what I see. Luckily I'm rarely wrong
The studio version of this song has a kick ass harmonica player in the background that stands out when listening with airpods Phenomenal musicians and singer. No other like WJ ❤❤❤! Sadly that era of musical talent is long gone for good.

Don't know how many times, as a kid, I watched Hee-Haw, and so many bands had a pedal steel master like this gentleman. It always impressed me, even as a small kid. Waylon's voice and his band are awesome, too. Just like early 80's country.
