Spending this day, 20th anniversary of Waylon's passing, listening to him sing! I actually listen to him pretty much every day for a song or two or ten. Love his voice and this is my favorite concert! Every song he did in this show was great.
Whoop Whoop Whoop!! Waylon an that ol telecaster of his , like hank jr said in a song he wrote... waylon's guitar 🎸 had that sound.... and it definitely had that sound, it was different than anybody else, it was a sound waylon created .... Waylon Jennings had his own style and he had his own sound for sure .... Waylon didn't read music he didn't have to nor did he want to, when waylon jennings played that telecaster he played lead BTW but when he played lead on any song , he always played by feel , all the rhythm every note was what he was feeling the beat everything was feeling and that is how he had his whole entire band playing by , by feeling each member of waylon's band played according to waylon, because this is how it was... when waylon jennings was performing a song any song whenever waylon kicked it whenever he kicked off a song waylon would start it obviously and the rest of his band would listen and follow the beat following the rhythm waylon was taking the song.. And Waylon Jennings band in the mid to late 70s, like from 72 73ish till 79 1980 were unbelievable they were all intense and all were in tune with one another like waylon's band rocked it and were a kick ass group especially Ralph Mooney on the pedal steel and then Riche Albright on the drums with Roger Crabtree with the harmonica and of course ol hoss Waylon Jennings playing lead guitar with that telecaster of his , all of it made for a wicked, mean rock n roll sound.. they were all great 👍 waylon jennings had the best band in rock n roll/country music 🎶 🎵 that's just my opinion that is... Waylon Jennings is and will always be the king to me!!! Waylon Jennings always brought it he rocked that shit every single time he would perform!!!
I was 12 yrs old when I went to his show in Gallup New Mexico cathedral catholic center on south side on top of mesa. I never looked back I'm stuck with him since than. I'm 68 yrs now. Over the following years I saw him in concert 7-8 times the last being in 2002 in Window Rock his last appearance there. RIP BUDDY
Reminds me of my Mother who passed away. She loved this song. I remember listening to this song on the 8-track in the van...The Outlaws. Loved all those songs.
@@johnland1528 I cannot imagine losing my mother at a young age. I at least had her until my 50's. My Mom lost her mother when she was 14....I cannot wait to see her again.😭😭
Willie Nelson wrote this about the ''escapades of ''Paul English a band member and he .? Waylons version is eluding to that great innovator Tompall Glaser of the brothers Glazer . I guess Tompall and Waylon go way back ! Tompall a genius in the music business ,got tired of the Nashville scene also . Nice touch .
Thanks for the info, Darvenne J. I always loved the music but didn't look for background until recently. You're filling in all the blanks I didn't know I had!
I read that Waylon didn’t have a set list, but just started playing. And the band started after a couple of beats. I see it at the start of this video.
What do you mean "also did this song", Willie's the one who wrote it :) Paul refers to his drummer Paul English. It's indeed an excellent song, and both are fantastic artists (although Waylon's always gonna be my favorite).
@@freighthog3511 true, think they fell out not long after They All recorded at Tompall's Studio? Prob something to do with money owed or record cuts or percentages.
Anyone listening to Waylon in 2025?
Yes all the time
Country music today is unlistenable but this is worth listening to over and over and over and...
and over,and over,and over...

There is no more country music! It's a cryin shame!

This is REAL country music. Not the manufactured, radio friendly BS that county puts out today. Waylon Jennings a bona fide musical legend.
Waylon created a genre of music that only he could live up to.

Compare Waylon to that shit they are passing off as country these days. Also Ralph Mooney was the greatest steel player alive.
Moon used to live down the road aways....Right off 287....Mansfield Texas...He is the greatest to ever play the Steel....
Damn this is so powerful, Paul English...

Tompall Glaser of "Put another log on the fire" I loved that song as a kid.

The Song was Wrote for Paul English, Willie's Drummer, but Waylon is obviously singing this for TOMPALL GLASER, who he was tight with.
