I will turn 70 in June and this music still stirs my soul. When I was young, I could not understand why my Dad listened to Hank Williams Sr., Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, Johnny Cash, etc. I went through my own metamorphosis as a teenager in the late 60's to early 70's, listening to Iron Butterfly, CCR, BS&T, Gary Puckett and the Union Gap and Paul Revere & The Raiders, The Animals, etc. If it was a phase, it never stuck with me. In the 70's / 80's, I listened "some" to Waylon and Willie but was not an avid fan. In the 80's / 90's, my tastes in C&W music turned to Larry Gatlin, Charlie Daniels, the Oak Ridge Boys, George Strait, Garth Brooks, Brooks & Dunn, etc. After Sawyer Brown, Travis Tritt, Chris LeDoux and Toby Keith, I lost most all interest in the "New Country". I cannot relate to it and (for ME) it feels to "rocky & rappy". Now, approaching 70, I have come back to the music of Willie, Waylon and the Highwaymen along with the C&W music aforementioned. Isn't it funny how time and age changes our perspective of life and our tastes in simple things (like music)? I will be just like my Dad and stick with the "old stuff" I grew up with, nothing new will be as good in my eyes.
This song reminds me of a pretty blonde blue-eyed girl on a Greyhound bus . I was running from the law and she was on her way to visit her old man in prison , I was high on cocaine and crazy as hell got off at the next stop and went and slept in the woods

geez I feel drinking. but nobody to drink with. I would buy a bottle of whiskey and play waylon songs all night.
+Faron Honest lol. dam buddy. I forgot about that comment. next time I'll just drink , even if I'm alone. I won't whine about it.
Lee Ketchemonia I've done just that.
Where you at? Let's go
We can imbibe in the spirits in spirit in the spirit of Watashi. Aka you drink idrink in honor of Waylon. Bammo
Forget driving get you some green and blaze up, country music is awesome whilst stoned.
This is how I remember Waymore. Breaking out on his own with that giddy up guitar and that whump whump beat and those vocals..woopwoop. Waylon brought it all together and owned what he started.
I have tried to explain in words why Waylon is so good. But you really have to listen to him to find that.
It's something you feel that cannot be put into words.
first heard him on the Duke's of Hazard and grew to love all his music.........not many of them left.......WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO COUNTRY!!
Waylon Jennings best damn country music❤
Killer performance of a great song. This shit is absolutely slammin’
The best picker that ever lived. Waylon was unique. Thanks for sharing.
That was Chet. His producer. But the student did alright.
I’d challenge that theory with Roy Clark🤟
@@skyler7548 Back then they all had their own style. It wasn't all generic like it is today. It's become hard to tell one from another just from listening.
@@matthewzdarko433 It's astonishing that we had Chet, Roy and Glen Campbell (and several others) all shredding it up at the same time.Even the rockers would stop and watch them play. And Waylon definitely had a unique style, you know instantly thatt it's him when he's picking. Hard to imitate, too, at least for me.
@@matthewzdarko433 Plenty of awesome country artists from today and some of them are damn good pickers too. Just have to look harder for them. Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Colter Wall, Billy Strings, and Sierra Farrell just to name a few
fantastic!!!!!!
Had the privilege of seeing him one time at the Summit in Houston. All my friends but one laughed. She and I were friends until she passed away. She was one of the few who got it, and my weirdness. 😓
I was there too Waylon was 1 of the 1st country singer I would really listen to guess I was about 13 in '75 when I started listening to country always a fan of Waylon
Waylon gave his heart to the Lord b4 he passed. Jesus saves !
Waylon didn't fall for that nonsense or any other flimflam, god bless Jesse for trying to put it out there though
@@timfrye3586 so if that is all hog wash what god are u referring to to bless Jessi ! I want to believe he did .
@@ozarkman1478 believe all you want, I love both Waylon and Jessie. But I also know Waylon thought the funnymentalist were full of guff.
@@timfrye3586 im just curious what god you was referring to about blessing Jessi. Can u answer that. ?
@@ozarkman1478 any of them, all gods are pretty much the same to me
Perhaps the best of his long list of classics. Great stuff.
i like honky tonk heroes a bit better but this is an all time great. The best of American music
Ol Richie Albright making it happen on those drums!
Damn, that steel guitar sounds good
I'd like to thank RUclips in Google for bringing this wonderful music country western to all the people that love it God bless America and they will all be brothers and sisters
Just some good ol country music From The Man, The Legend Waylon Jennings
This might sound strange, but he has the most masculine voice in any genre, even more than Johnny Cash. I used to watch the Dukes of Hazzard, just to hear Waylon's narrative.
The one n awesome n only the very greatest ever. NO ONE can even come close!
WowWaylon!
This man is the greatest
Lean and mean Waylon. He owned the 70s. This man was a one man revolution in country music. Let’s be honest. He was “outlaw country” He started it. He was one of the premier artist of that decade. Rip hoss.
That propulsive sound! I don't even like country for the most part, but I love Waylon. I think it was not just the firecracker band, but he was capable of irony in his music. He didn't sing happy la la bullshit.
This is next level stuff....I'm no "country music" guy, but can appreciate good music of any genre. There are quite a few classic country gems, but fkn Waylon....dude was on some other ish.
So much of today's country music, perhaps most of it, is formulaic, banal bandwaggoning. Waylon was the real deal.
It gets better every time I watch it.
Waylon"The Best"! Love my Waylon! God rest his soul. Love Mrs. Jessie!!!
Great recording, of a great artist. I miss this
The man!!! Gorgeous and that voice! ❤
One of the greats in country music.
Started in the early 70s, and with him ever since
Still the best outlaw I’ve ever heard and seen…
And why I have adored Waylon Jennings for decades.
Hello Danielle, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the Virus?
@@user-tv1xj5ji6x I’ve been lucky, at least where the virus is concerned… For me it’s all about the hips, as in hip replacement surgery.
Hope you’re doing well, have a wonderful weekend.

I grew up listening to ol' badass Waylon. My mom would play his records alot . I liked him then and LOVE him now. I wish he was still here. RIP Waylon
Hello how are you? So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful song.
I love most all old country music from conway to hank to george strait and by far waylon is the best there ever will be
Might want to throw a spotlight on the best damn steel player in history!
And everybody thought Elvis was cool(which he was) but this guy was super cool🤗
Raw!!!
I dig both!!
Looks like he was just loving singing rambling man. He sure was one & damn I wish I could seen the legend live!
Glad I was not into this back then. Now I can enjoy it the rest of my life like it came out yesterday.
Waylon the Master Of The Telecaster
Never get tired of his pickin'.
The WORLD needs more WAYLON!
Waylon picking that Tele!! So great, true American treasure 🤠👍. Great backing band don't hurt..
I LOVE this song. I'm from Alabama and this is a "Damn the Torpedoes" kind of song! Prayin...
Hey Kelly
First song I heard from the man was Cedartown GA on a cheap 8 track purchase at the counter, my older brother bought, was hooked, was coupled with terrible songs from nobodys, he stood out! My older bros first Album purchase from him was Lonesome On'ry and Mean. He bought two that day, the other was Merle's Live Okie Album. Listened over and over!!!
I am from Cedartown and Waylon became my favorite as soon as I heard him. Well, him and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Still are.
Waylon has a great beat to all his songs and his voice is wonderful. I think he passed too young.
Good music is like a fine wine, just gets better with time..... and music like this is timeless!
The new country singers are desperate to live the songs they sing. With Waylon the songs he sang simply lived through him. Authentic.
