Great review. With the exception of the Christopher Ward. My experience with CW is watching the resale drop faster than a prom dress. So glad I was finally able to trade mine towards my new SPB187.
I've got a Seiko SBDC143 (faded Willard) with the 6R35. Seiko recommends to wind 50 times to get a full wind. When I fully wind and wear mine, it runs +6. I've also put it on a timegrapher fully wound and it has an amplitude of 275. I think Seikos are meant to be worn. There is also something different about Seiko's sapphire glass. Maybe it's the clear AR coating. It's the best sapphire glass I've seen.
In Japan, this watch can be bought used and cheap, probably because there were people who replaced it after the SPB383 was released. I was able to buy it for less than $600 last week. I don't feel like buying it at full price, but I like it very much because it's cool and comfortable to wear. It advances 15 seconds a day, but there is no problem because I have multiple clocks and they change every 2~3 days. The sentence may be wrong with the automatic translation. Thanks for the good video.
I feel it is entirely possible to like a watch a little too much, as my case with this one. I’ve had it for about 2 months and haven’t worn any of my other watches since. I agree with you on the horrible divers extension and hopefully Seiko will upgrade it somewhere down the line. I’m also one of those weirdos who prefer the pin and collar system over screwed links, overall I couldn’t be happier with a watch. Great review
Just purchased one off Gnomon and I got a fantastic deal because of black friday. So hyped to get this one on wrist!!! Cheers -- thanks for the great review. It definitely steered me towards this one haha
If you bought the watch second hand, I don’t think you should expect the movement to perform within specs. You don’t really know how the watch was kept, even if it was hardly used. It may have been dropped, magnetized, etc. I’ve bought enough pre-owned pieces to know this. And I think this is fairly common sense. Other than this point, I think it was a fair review.
I’ve had the 185 version, and I really enjoyed it. Do you plan to sent it in for service? For what it’s worth, I had a great experience getting a 6r movement serviced and regulated. It came back quickly and spot on.
So the funny thing is, despite the horrible positional accuracy, the overall accuracy isn't bad. I have regulated a watch before, so I might try to regulate this one at some point. Fortunately, there is also a great independent watch maker close to me, so I could always just have him do it! Glad you had a good result!
Interesting how Orient does not seem to have the bezel alignment issues even on their $150 Mako watches. Is it possible this watch has been magnetized which is causing the poor accuracy?
@@JustWatches1 I found on this one the longer I had it and wore it the more accurate it become. Also ,my watchmaker - who's been in the game for 40 years stated, that time graphers are not that reliable in and of themselves..Nothing compares to wrist time after a regulation he had said.
with this much money its better to just buy a swisswatch like the oris. This seiko should not cost more $650 especially given how bad the movement is running.
I agree. I'm becoming very disenchanted with the 6R35, they seem to have problems and are very expensive to fix since there isn't lots of extra parts floating around yet.
I think the case on this one is much more interesting. The SPB143 will wear better on a smaller wrist. I also didn’t feel like the bracelet matched on the SPB143 as much as on the SPB187. So if you plan to wear it on a bracelet and don’t mind a bigger watch - 187. If you like straps or want a smaller watch - 143!
@@jeeeeev It's Christopher Ward, I was talking about the Christopher Ward Diver, Jason mentioned in the 'comparables' section. Sorry for being lazy and confusing you!
Yes, it's funny, despite the horrible positional accuracy, it keeps good time, but it is just luck. They need to regulate these out of the factory imo.

I know this has been a while but thank you for a “real user review” and not just listing out specs and first impressions
Thank you kindly, I'm glad you enjoy the content! :) I tried to make a channel I would want to watch if I wanted to see a watch review!

Seiko definitely nails the AR, especially when they use their "Super Clear" coating. The also perform better on wrist than on a timegrapher!
I’m seriously thinking about this one lately. But I also really like the new gmt coming soon
The used prices on these have finally started to settle close to $650-$700 which is way more reasonable than MSRP

At $600 this is a great deal! I also change my watches often and don't mind if a watch doesn't keep perfect time :) Thanks for watching!

Glad you are enjoying it so much! I think pin and collar is technically more secure than screws once you get it sized!

Let me know what you think, this is one of my favorites and has stuck around for a long time (which is rare for me)!

Excellent review! I had the full-size Marine Master a few years ago but sold it because it was so big. I wish Seiko would off a self adjustment clasp.
That would be wonderful, I wish they would too!
I have heard many owners that thier seikos movements doesn’t like timegraphers but on wrist are bang on accurate
That’s fair - there is a difference and on wrist is what matters.
Interesting how Orient does not seem to have the bezel alignment issues even on their $150 Mako watches. Is it possible this watch has been magnetized which is causing the poor accuracy?
Usually when a watch is magnetized it runs really, really fast. Like minutes per day. Yes, I don't know why this isn't really an issue for Orient.
I have this exact watch and I find it very enjoyable. I think I have had this watch a little over a year..
Nice, yes, I really wanted one and it did not disappoint, I think I will have it for a long time.

@@flow2tech this is absolutely true. A timegrapher gives a rough estimate, but a watch on wrist is the trust test!
@@JustWatches1 yes.. And that's where I notice the 6r35 performing just fine for me..
The "elephant in the room" is just a mouse. Since adjusting a movement like that only takes 10 minutes. :)

The problem with this beautiful watch is the accuracy, i will bring mine to seiko service centre for service, the movement is too slow
I'm fairly disappointed with the 6R35, I hear they have quite a few problems.
@@JustWatches1 unfortunately i don’t know if Seiko service centre can do something for mine or not

Not a bad choice mate if you can find a good deal on it, for that price category CW makes a lot of sense to me. Excellent job with the review!
CW outclasses this one, but I'm a Seiko addict.
@@JustWatches1 Ha...ha..I am out of this one!
I'm sorry but what's CW?
@@jeeeeev It's Christopher Ward, I was talking about the Christopher Ward Diver, Jason mentioned in the 'comparables' section. Sorry for being lazy and confusing you!
I am shocked it's not hardlex. Thankfully, Seiko did not disappoint, however, and it still has the accuracy of a potato.

@mountainhobo got mine dialed to a solid +3 spd
