I just bought this exact watch about 2 weeks ago. Really love it! I wasn’t sure how an alpinist would look on my 7.5” wrist, as I generally prefer watches over 40mm, but it looks great. Love that long power reserve too.
I bought this watch at nearly half price for Black Friday. It looks way more expensive than it is. I think this is one of Seiko’s best dial colours yet.
Incredible looking in person. This Alpinist really has my attention especially with that big power reserve movement and the high-end clasp. Great review have to drop by Lucido and check these out! Thanks Rob.
So glad you are back on that seiko train Rob...two years ago I watched your video on the Great white turtle...I bought one and never looked back..pound for pound, seiko still rule..especially with the dials
Almost pulled the trigger on that green mm200 but picked up a sarf007 which is the white version of the gmt rob held later in the video. Next watch will be the mm200 or mm300 in that dark green.
What a great find! 😃👍🏼 I was gearing up to get the one that's closer to the historical-like look of the Alpinist (SPB121-J1) with the green dial. But now, you just threw me off ... I may end up with this one instead with great specs and a great strap. Thanks for sharing.
@@bigbodykarate6403 - Totally agree “the brown is class” … and on an uncle Seiko jubilee?!? Would not have been my first thought but very interesting combo! Thanks for your insight.
Thanks for this video and showing all three....looking for a brown dial and have been eyeing these three references......hard to really know unless you actually see then physically, but is it me or are the dials for the Alpinist and the SPB240 have a greenish tint to it. The GMT looks very nice and a true brown....
My one gripe with my SBP089 Alpinist (which hasn't been fixed on the new models), is the compass crown is just a tad too easy to turn. It's very hard to keep that N at the 12, for us that are a little (or a lot) OCD about lining those things up. It really is a great all arounder though, especially on bracelet.
It's not meant to stay in place, it's just meant to be used as a quick measure to find your bearing and continue moving. It wouldn't make sense for it to stay fixed regardless because you'd constantly be moving anyway.
I really like the Alpinist but received my Borealis Adraga last week and for the money don't feel there is any comparison. I got the mint green "flag" dial and just love it. I believe that I have you to blame for me getting this watch based on your review, so thanks for that lol....
I have it with the green, but took off the alligator band, and added oem brown leather calfskin. And yes paid retail. My buddy bought the Oris Pointer Date yesterday, lots of similarities, lots of differences.

How are the viewing angles? I am worried the gold on brown doesn't provide enough contrast.

Bought this, love it on a jubilee from strap code
I thought it was black when i saw the thumbnail but this brown / gold combo is stunning!
Congrats rob. It’s a beautiful timepiece. Endless and classy watch
Beautiful. All 3. That MM200 is calling to me!

That's different! I still like my green dial 017 a little more for the fall. Love that watch!
Nice! Loving the look of the Speedtimer solar panda, get on it Rob 👍

green is played out , the brown is class , it looks amazing on a uncle seiko jubilee with solid endlinks

What a beauty!!! 😍 This is definitely next on my radar!!
What is going on with watch business? You said we may have to pay full price? Why?
Just bought a Hamilton Khaki Automatic 38mm but damn that Alpinist is really enticing.
Beautiful watch!

Amazing watch!
Love the Alpinist, but sold mine (017) because it was just too small for me .Gutted the latest ones aren't bigger. Cheers mate 👍👍
The latest ones are 1.5mm bigger at 39.5
This watch looks amazing on a bracelet i put mine on a uncle seiko jubilee with solid endlinks 10/10

So, you're saying it moves when on your wrist?
@@laplantski Yes
Isn't that the point of a compass?

Is it just me or it looks more black than brown, or does it look more brown in person?
i very like Seiko 5 watches

I wish they had kept the stainless steel back instead of the exhibition case
The only thing I have not liked about the alpanist is the hands, and cyclops besides that I’d own one
Nice reviews, what camera you use to shoot this video?
Very good watche
I feel like you updated the video settings to hlg lol
what an absurdly stunning watch for the price. wtf seiko.
Have the SPB 210, Alpine Green dial with gilded hour markers ! It’s just so awesome.
I'd buy their true GMT in a heartbeat if it had a date window instead of the dial.
🌹👌
I have a brown dial hamilton khaki field, it looks like a chocolate waffer
If this didn’t have a cyclops, I’d buy it
Everybody seem to hate the cyclops, maybe that’s why Rolex is so unpopular.
I bought this watch just because it has cyclops.
@@giusepperocchi2979I’m a big cyclops fan
All Alpinists are beautiful but some of them are plagued with legibility issue. This brown version seems to be the least legible of the bunch.
Handsome watch but prefer Swiss brands for this price Hamilton Tissot.. etc
