The game is fully revealed only during the regimental events. Each regiment is a separate gaming community, 20-40 or more people with their own hierarchy (privates, sergeants, officers) and they play together, coordinating actions with each other. During the events, the servers are filled completely - 280-300 people, and when servers for 400 people appear in the game, they will also be completely packed during the events. Public servers do not provide such an experience as playing at an organized event.
I played 2 public matches before getting recruited for a Regiment (8th Connecticut Huzza!) And I agree 100, was a next level experiance. My first 2 events with them and we mopped the floor, 4/4 wins in a row! I'm hooked now.

I mean, its literally blue vs brown uniforms or blue vs red markers. Gets a lot harder with something like Squad where there are a lot more factions and uniforms that sometimes are not that distinct looking.
@@schmid1.079 Well sometimes you are engaging in bad lighting where you can’t tell between blue and grey - plus when you are wounded or supressed your vision goes black and white… and the uniforms look the same. Generally you look for other clues though, if a significant amount of troops have slouch hats they generally are confederate. And if they have an 1861 service bay (looks like a top hat) they will always be union. Plus confederate uniforms are generally a lot more revealing, sometimes they don’t wear shoes, the coats rarely go down to the knees, and you can often times see an undershirt. Union uniforms always have boots and the coats are always closed and go down to the knees.
I've seen servers fill up to the max at 300, and even seen a test server push all the way to 400 players. It's a small community but a dedicated community. On weekends event battles are usually over 250 players on average so there's plenty of opportunity to play large numbers at the right times of day. Otherwise getting on in the mornings to midday can vary from as low as 38 players up to 120 on average.
It's genuinely impressive that a studio found a way to make a civil war game fun, never thought id see the day, but then again never thought id see a good ww1 shooter, would be nice to get a more mainstream vietnam game now!
I've been playing this game for about a year now and have attended about a 100 events, one of the best milsims I've ever played its even better if you join a faction. definetly would recommend it
i looked at this game since it was on kickstarter (2017 i think) and im glad that numbers of players just grow up with more and more updates and features.i have a lot of fun with this game.
This game has a lot of interesting mechanics to incentivize playing in a 'period appropriate' manner. For instance, being 'in formation' (i.e. close to your squad mates) means your death costs 1 ticket. If you die out of formation your death costs something like 4 tickets. If you're skirmishing (being close to a few squad mates, or kneeling) your death costs 2 tickets. So you're incentivized to stand in a line with your company and shoot volleys. The 'ready, aim, fire' command is actually extremely important in this game because your rifle will sway when you first ADS. You'll identify a good leader because they know the cadence and can orchestrate some great volleys As your video shows, the worst part of this game (and a lot of these team games) is poor leadership. But once you find a good team this game becomes legendary! Great video!
Love this game. It's really fun and the team conversations are hilarious 😂 Try remember which side you're on though 😂 Union are Blue, confeds are greyish
Im in the UK and serve with the European regiment 8th Florida. Event servers at the weekend are massive. And the experience is phenomenal, with well organised regiments and historical accuracy in battle tactics, maneuvers etc. Outwith that, the informal servers (when mostly amercans log on) is hilarious. It's incredible fun, some brilliant commanders, great banter and those who play soundboards during battle make for exceptional fun. One of the best games I've ever bought. But......learning how to play the game properly and getting experience is important. Joining a regiment will help leaps and bounds, as it did for me with solid drill camps with them. Also, you need to master your role, whether it be standard infantry, artillery and officer. Officers need experience in the game/military tactics etc and how to organise and order etc. You simply can't just dive into this role. The game has a very loyal and slowly growing fan base and it's astonishing there are not even more playing it. Cannot recommend this game enough. There are no kids to be found, as the game is for adults and children will be kicked if found out. Most evenings, european time have fairly full servers.
To figure out who is who, Confederate Uniforms is Gray/Butternut. Union Uniforms is Basic Blue. Ranks were worn as chevrons on the right and left sleeves above the elbow. They were colored according to service branch: Infantry = Blue Artillery = Red Cavalry = Yellow
I have been playing War of Rights for many years, private servers are the way to go if you want a serious experience. The public servers are chaotic but can be a great time haha, have met so many cool people through the game. Glad to see it growing, I highly recommend it to everyone.
Floris is great. There are other great officers too both on CSA and Union side. But playing under Floris command is always fun:D CSA tend to be most organized but have the habit of giving total F's and wing it with all cohesion gone down the drain when encounter a setback:P BTW. While pressing "T" you can only see the names of teammates. And if your officer is alive press "T" and you see a star. thats the direction you want to go if you are lost. Flags are Poratble spawn. So instead of spawning main click on the flag. You only spawn on Main if the spawn queue on flag is too many or if the flag is down. Press "C" to double quick/jog insetad of wasting your stamina on sprinting.
As a southerner, I play the south for three reasons: 1: One of my greater Uncles was a colonel in the confederate army, he was shot during the battle of Antietam and recovered only to loose his right arm to a cannon ball at Gettysburg. So kinda paying tribute to kin in a way. 2: The rebel yell is the most hilarious thing I’ve ever heard but I can understand how it would terrify someone who isn’t expecting. 3: most importantly I can’t roll play as a yankee because being a southerner, I open my mouth and my accent sounds like chicken fried chicken and and corner bread. The Union teams usually TK me the moment they hear me say something… even if I’m the officer or an NCO and usually without hesitation lol. I ain’t mad, it’s pretty hilarious if I’m being honest. It keeps me playing the south and occasionally joining the north just to see how long it takes them to start TKing me.
The funny thing is back in the mid 1800's even Northerners sounded much more like modern southerners than anything they would recognize as northern today.
Plenty of southerners fought for the union tbf tho. I play CSA, though thats mostly because the Union teams in this game at least in my events are DOGSHIT. Lol.
If you love teamwork, big explosions, and hilarious trash talk, War of Rights is the game for you. If you seek a more coordinated experience, joining a player run regiment is a must, but public play is fun too.
Assuming you haven't changed your key bindings, to go from quick time (walk) to double quick time (jog) you want to use C button. When you aim, the game switches you to quick time.
1) Play during prime time aka 12pm to 6pm EST. That’s when the relevant, active players play rather than these 3am randoms you found. 2) Play pubs. Locked servers are for sweaty reenactors and competitive players.
Don't play pubs. Locked servers are for regiments that aren't super competitive at all. If you join a good regiment its just a bunch of really nice dudes having fun every Saturday night, pubs are not organised at all.
The funny thing is the last time i played this game i had the most polite discussion on politics i had seen in ages while we were holding a fence line.
As a general rule, the darker or bluer the colors of the uniform, the more likely they are on the union team. Be sure to press T when close to identify them.
It’s based on a home around the Sharpsburg area. Most of the maps (currently) are from the Lee’s First Northern Campaign; specifically Harper’s Ferry and the different locations of the Antietam/Sharpsburg Battlefield.
when you start to realize how to actually form up and move with your company, follow officer orders to get on line and such, it's so satisfying. You figure out the tempo, look forward to the volleys, talk shit during the reload, hype up for the charge, it's so cool.
M&B warband napoleonic was where t truly started. That and red orchestra 2. Then it was rising storm 2, hell let loose, and holdfast. Literally the same 1,000 or so aussie players. Good community.
This game really shines in organized events. If you continue playing the game and run into the 1stMA.S.S. join their line. They are very friendly and helpful and just generally a great bunch of guys.
I am laughing at the arm band thing. All I could think was not only was that the wrong thing to look for, but you also just tried to TK a Captain. But he probably deserved it.
This game's really a unique experience. Funnily enough though i seem to have had the exact opposite view of the different teams vibes, i guess it depends on your time zone lol
To be clear, the organized unit community makes up like the majority of the active player base. So this game is really carried by the thousands of regiment players. Which is why at any given time, you may only see a few hundo people in a few servers. But on weekends and event nights there's like 1000+ online.
by far the best parts of this game is its small community. All the war of rights player know that friday night is the best time for a good match. The main server will fill up with 200 players and it is awesome.
A random stranger bought this game for me a few years ago. I had a blast playing it for about 3 months straight but I started to get bored. Hope it makes a comeback
As an American, it was frustrating that he had such a hard time telling who his team was. It's easy if you are CSA their coats are brown or grey. If you are Union, your coat is blue or green.
Try playing the game during peak hours, i know that sounds like an inconvenience, but the game is very niche. But has a very dedicated community. Peak hours youll see a full server 200+ if im not mistaken. i dont know how much the player counts have increased to since i last played.
during the American Civil War for both sides used red for artillery, blue for infantry, and yellow for cavalry. At the start of the war there were a mixer of blue and gray uniforms that both sides wore but as the war went on the North don the blue while the South gray or butternut
What I'm gathering is that if you play CSA, you might get lucky and get a regiment of older dudes that take it *very* seriously and are super well-organized. Or you just get a bunch of kids/teens/young 20-somethings yelling the Hard R.
If you thought this game was interesting, you should try Holdfast: Nations at War. It's like War of rights but early early 1800s, like Napoleon's France 1800s lol
A lot of fun in this game, but it depends on the time of day you’re on. I’ve seen servers with easily 300 players. It also gets a lot more fun if you join a regiment and you get to play scheduled events. Considering your accent I’m guessing you’re from the UK. Look up the United European Community (UEC) on war of rights. Plenty of regiments and they play every Friday and Saturday starting with drill at 20:00 CET And two battles 21:00 onward. A lot more organized and A Lot more players
REGIMENTAL PLAY is the BEST way to play the game. Organized events against other organized regiments is the best way to play BY FAR. Some Sunday NA events have 450+ regimental players so we have to split into 2 different servers. WOR is EXTREMELY underrated. Great gameplay and visually STUNNING.
This game is a better experience than it is an actual game. You get it all: 12 year old scottish officers leading you into a charge singing battle hymn of the republic, Forrest Gump declaring war on the Redcoats mid-route, Confederate meowing catboy soldiers twerking, fart micspam "I gots the dysentery, sir!", men with voices of sheer gravel serenading the unit to Phil Collins, Pim from Smiling Friends, what the Beatles would've sounded like if they were in 1862... and enough slurs to make a 12 year old on 2009 XBLA blush. There's a spectate mode. You can get it all without firing a single shot.

@@OrcaKiller1996 I wouldn't because if you piss off the wrong people, you'll be banned from the only server in the game.
@@OrcaKiller1996 Yeah buy it, summer sale. Also join 8th CT.
@@lanthanumlanthanium6373 Question: What did you do to piss them off?
@@flyingsquirrell6953 Someone was talking about how Robert E Lee wanted slavery and was a racist, and I told them that he wasn't because he openly states his disdain for slavery many times in his memoirs and he wasn't going to fight against his own people. I also said that generalizing all confederates as racist, is ignorant and exactly what a lefty would say. Not even 25 seconds later I was permanently banned, no slurs, no hostility, not toxicity, just countering someone being ignorant and because the server owners are leftist losers, that guy went and told on me in discord, made up some story saying I called him the hard R and that I support racism. This dude had no recording or anything, no witnesses and just because of despotism I got the shaft. With todays political climate, if you say anything, even just the slightest slip-up that goes against their narrative, you're toast. It's not fun walking on eggshells after a long day at work and these games are just becoming another job at this point, no longer fun. Pay for it if you want, but just know that server owners can take that fun away at any moment if you screw the pooch, I don't even let my wife have that much control over me. Good luck.

American Moment
The game is actually really full of people now. Amazing game, more people need to know about this
The game is fully revealed only during the regimental events.

The more "realistic" these war games get, the more difficult it is to know who is on your side. That makes me think.

@@BilboFappins-mm4lsOnly thing that sucks more than being killed by the enemy is getting killed by your buddies.
It's about proper communication.
Rising Storm 2 Vietnam still has life in it, fucking love that game
Kinda wish there's a game for the Korean War
The people who made this game were American Civil War Reenactors. So, of course, they know how to make it fun.
bro got so happy to finally manage to notice and kill an enemy xD 8:37 love the excitement
Awesome profile picture dude.
@@Broski1318 thank u sir
This game has a lot of interesting mechanics to incentivize playing in a 'period appropriate' manner.
For instance, being 'in formation' (i.e. close to your squad mates) means your death costs 1 ticket. If you die out of formation your death costs something like 4 tickets. If you're skirmishing (being close to a few squad mates, or kneeling) your death costs 2 tickets.
So you're incentivized to stand in a line with your company and shoot volleys.
The 'ready, aim, fire' command is actually extremely important in this game because your rifle will sway when you first ADS. You'll identify a good leader because they know the cadence and can orchestrate some great volleys
As your video shows, the worst part of this game (and a lot of these team games) is poor leadership. But once you find a good team this game becomes legendary!
Great video!
Funnily enough your experience was very similar to the real war. The CSA was much more organized militarily than the north.
Love this game. It's really fun and the team conversations are hilarious 😂
Try remember which side you're on though 😂 Union are Blue, confeds are greyish
I love the fact a Brit accidentally and maybe unknowingly enjoyed the confederate side more than the union side lmao
YEE YEE BROTHER WE SHOW THEM BRITS HOW IT'S DONE
The British were close to supporting the confederates, so makes sense.
To figure out who is who, Confederate Uniforms is Gray/Butternut. Union Uniforms is Basic Blue.
Ranks were worn as chevrons on the right and left sleeves above the elbow. They were colored according to service branch:
Infantry = Blue
Artillery = Red
Cavalry = Yellow
Just wait til you get into a match with 300+ people, 100 man charges are insane, they do 400 player tests sometimes
The content I never knew I needed but now can't get enough
I have been playing War of Rights for many years, private servers are the way to go if you want a serious experience. The public servers are chaotic but can be a great time haha, have met so many cool people through the game. Glad to see it growing, I highly recommend it to everyone.
Floris is great. There are other great officers too both on CSA and Union side. But playing under Floris command is always fun:D CSA tend to be most organized but have the habit of giving total F's and wing it with all cohesion gone down the drain when encounter a setback:P
BTW.
As a southerner, I play the south for three reasons:
1: One of my greater Uncles was a colonel in the confederate army, he was shot during the battle of Antietam and recovered only to loose his right arm to a cannon ball at Gettysburg.
It keeps me playing the south and occasionally joining the north just to see how long it takes them to start TKing me.
rare sight of reasonable southerner
That game is awesome. Yesterday, I was playing, and over 20 people took a knee to hear someone singing an old time song. That was crazy
@@pintoffanta2510 fuck organization. Being stupid and having fun is what makes this game and Holdfast great.
The funny thing is the last time i played this game i had the most polite discussion on politics i had seen in ages while we were holding a fence line.
“Is that a teammate.” *Proceeds to hear the Rebel Yell and get bayonetted.*
Man, I love War of Rights.
dude i love how the first confederate officer lightly sung "make reaaaaaddddyyyy!"
It's not dead at all. I've been playing this game with my regiment for 3 years now.
As a general rule, the darker or bluer the colors of the uniform, the more likely they are on the union team. Be sure to press T when close to identify them.
Watching a British dude fighting the civil war gave me the realization that the civil war was just a bunch of British dudes fighting each other.
"I've been teamkilled more than I've been killed by enemies"
*Welcome to war, son!*
This game really shines once you join a regiment, it's just really fun playing the event battles on the weekends
At 4:43 that home there literally appears to be a tourist trap
It’s based on a home around the Sharpsburg area. Most of the maps (currently) are from the Lee’s First Northern Campaign; specifically Harper’s Ferry and the different locations of the Antietam/Sharpsburg Battlefield.
Sometimes in east at 3- 6 pm you can get 300 player servers, I’ve seen it before
when you start to realize how to actually form up and move with your company, follow officer orders to get on line and such, it's so satisfying. You figure out the tempo, look forward to the volleys, talk shit during the reload, hype up for the charge, it's so cool.
War of rights is a brilliant game. The immersion is second to none.
I know right, it really lets me feel like I am surrounded by the racist people who stand outside my local store at night and dip. Best game bar none.
Those red chevrons indicated he was an nco in the artillery lol. It's not team specific.
Bro, the confedorate team was the least toxic thing I ever seen...
“Is that a friendly?” -screams lmao I haven’t laughed that hard in a while
why does the thumbnail say " 0 players online"?, game usually peaks at over 650 players per day
He's British and played when half the playerbase in America wasn't online.
M&B warband napoleonic was where t truly started. That and red orchestra 2.
Then it was rising storm 2, hell let loose, and holdfast.
Literally the same 1,000 or so aussie players.

War of Rights is one of my favorite games and Floris is an amazing officer. Unfortunate I wasn’t able to see you in game and probably get tked by you
This game's really a unique experience. Funnily enough though i seem to have had the exact opposite view of the different teams vibes, i guess it depends on your time zone lol
The kid barking orders at more mature guys was hilarious😂😂😂
War of rights is a GREAT game. You need to join a regiment with competent officers and do the weekend events. Usually on private servers.
To be clear, the organized unit community makes up like the majority of the active player base. So this game is really carried by the thousands of regiment players. Which is why at any given time, you may only see a few hundo people in a few servers. But on weekends and event nights there's like 1000+ online.
Though I will say joining a regiment isn't required, it really depends on your preference.
The use of that Jim Marshall clip was superb! I didn't know it was known worldwide LOL. The game looks great!
This games graphics look lit, makes me want to play it.
Watching the sky try to figure out the difference between Confederate and Union uniforms was fantastic
1:01 some motherboards have build in speakers and some monitors too
What team am I on? Never thought to check uniform color lol.
Maybe that was why the civil war was so bloody.. All the teamkills
by far the best parts of this game is its small community. All the war of rights player know that friday night is the best time for a good match. The main server will fill up with 200 players and it is awesome.
The desperate confusion at the beginning is pretty normal for this game, especially if you don’t recognize the uniforms
Im seriously dying over here. The 🌳 i just partook in may have some impact but wow, that's funny 💩 3:36
Bad eggs aside, It's a fun game when you have players who know how to cooperate.
my man, there not red arm bands, there patches to define rank my g
Servers still populate at like 180 players regularly. Its a wonderful game.
Mans really out here asking how do you tell which team you are on in the American Civil War, blue v grey my dude
Have to say, that Civil War was some of the funniest I've heard for years!
Laughed a lot! Cheers😁
Try playing the game during peak hours, i know that sounds like an inconvenience, but the game is very niche. But has a very dedicated community. Peak hours youll see a full server 200+ if im not mistaken. i dont know how much the player counts have increased to since i last played.
That football edit had me crackin up lmaoo
during the American Civil War for both sides used red for artillery, blue for infantry, and yellow for cavalry. At the start of the war there were a mixer of blue and gray uniforms that both sides wore but as the war went on the North don the blue while the South gray or butternut
If you liked this game, you owe yourself some holdfast nations at war fun time.
The most immersive part of a civil war game is the team kills
you should come to a larger event - up to 150 v 150
9 year old was just being historically accurate lol
I would play this if I won't be commanded by a screaming 13 year old
having been apart of organized lobbies with 300 people in it this game is amazing

Low key seems like a shit ton of fun
