This set is like a Stormtrooper in ANH This set *misses the point* of a troop carrier. Lego is too obsessed with making sets super rigid, shooting and good looking at the expense of actual room and accessories like cargo or storage hatches.
I think part of the problem here is that LEGO is focused on making sets conflict or story based, which is why they'd include two good guys instead of make it an Empire-only set.
Don't normally comment, but this seems worth sharing. It's really easy to increase the capacity to eight minifigs without backpacks: 1) Remove the troop bay's doorframe-curved piece assembly. 2) Remove the outboard 1x4 white tile and 1x2 dark red plate underneath it. 3) Move the remaining two 1x4 white tiles one stud outboard. 4) Replace the doorframe-curved piece assembly into the troop-bay. 5) Remove the undercarriage unit under that bay, place the removed 1x4 white tile at it's outer edge, and replace the unit one stud further out so the tile covers the gap at the bottom of the troop-bay. 6) Repeat for the other three bays. 7) Sit eight Stormtroopers inside whilst you are deciding what to do with the four 1x2 plates left over...
Would appreciate a video also. I did some modding with the intent of reducing the piece count and increasing the capacity of passengers and got up to 18 comfortably, but I think it can hold more than that

The republic attack shuttle had auto flick fire missiles, opening cockpit,bombs that could drop opening Interior and side panels and very sturdy foldable wings
I want this set but the only thing i see they should do is replace obi and r2 with stormtroopers and add more space to add more figures in.Who would waste all that money and time just to deliver 2 troops to battle
Your Obi Wan voice is great! But the ship reminds me of a preschool toy. for $90 should totally have minimal 4 troops & a deployable brick built Dewback from beneath. But no, we get 2 troopers & 2 needless fillers.
I like the Sentinel-class shuttle overall, but the cargo pods that don't fully close just grind my gears. though looking at some pictures of it that might be how it is supposed to be? I dunno, whatever the case it looks off to me in Lego form. That and the non-retractable landing gear, though tbh I wouldn't mind the gear so much if the cargo pods just fully closed up
Take out the 5-stud axles with one end stopped, and replace with a normal 5- or 4- stud axle and they will close properly. Quite surprised Lego missed that one as it's kinda obvious.
LEGO seems to just be getting more and more expensive. In most of Jang’s recent videos, he usually always ends discussing price, and it’s kind of discouraging. I don’t really think I’ll get back into legos anytime soon at this rate.
I just ordered this to modify all the pain points, especially that large afterthought of a gap where the guns are. I love buying problematic sets to fix Legos mistakes.

This set encompasses a problem I've been having with Lego sets for a while now. These Lego sets contain so many pieces, just to add thing like detail and such, which is nice... but more often than not this behavior raises the prices of sets considerably. An increase in price is going to deter many people from buying these sets, simply because it's too costly to keep buying them. $90 for a TROOP TRANSPORT that looks, frankly, ugly, way too simple, and only contains TWO troops (not that Obi-Wan and R2 are bad, but still...)? It's not just this set; many sets of the past few waves either are way too expensive and/or don't have their priorities straight when it comes to figures, appearances, or functionality. I know I'm overgeneralizing, but it feels like Lego doesn't know what it's doing with the Star Wars IP... It's hard to put into words, but I hope I'm not the only one who feels this way.
Something bugs me about that shuttle. I feel like it looks... old. Like, if you told me it came out 10-20 years ago, I would accept that as fact. It doesn't look as fresh and nice as some of the recent sets have.
I've heard the complaint on winglet height, the wings are actually proportional to the in universe ship, it was scaled down for sure, but the winglets are to scale, they are correct.
Those huge gaps at the front are really off-putting, the original craft didn't have them, and the shaping of the hull has been affected because of this
the AT-OT was the best lego troop carrier imo (maybe the second mtt as it is one of the only lego sets i keep after the great lego purge of my childhood) I remember putting borrowing it to my friend when we used to play really big battles and it would always be full of clones and YES jang it is so much fun

Yes, Lucas attacked the movie we remember, but the death star battle was definitely enhanced. I'd like to hear how you feel the earlier designs have held up compared to the latest with new parts and building techniques.
I bought this and Anakin's Starfighter yesterday and got £15 off from VIP points my mum had when she got my birthday present! £91 was a steal! Great, in depth review as always Jang. Loved the AnGrY cLoNe edit, and that little thing at the end. Kinda reminded me of the GNAJBRicKS channel. (Who is a completely separate person to you)
Otis Cluck Lego have released many r2d2s. Even before 2015 there have been plenty available each year. Though I agree it sucks but at least the sand crawler does not include one.
I think this is a very skippable set. It's very stud heavy and gappy, and the interior isn't anything the write home about. Also I think including another one of those weird looking old ben minifigures and an R2 instead of another couple of troopers is a miss. I would recommend to those interested in this craft to get the 2007 version. It includes more troops and looks alot nicer inside and out. (and no stud shooters!)
At least your R2 was printed straight this time! Though the paint appeared a tad chipped. But I think it's the first astromech you've bought lately that isn't wonky around the dome! Clearly that was the droid you were looking for. ;)
My idea is to put the packs on the middle black piece so you can fit maximum troopers. Or you could put them on the ramp when it is folded up. (FYI, I do not have the set.)
Lego Star Wars seems to have lost all consistency, and this might be down to the Disney factor but Lego certainly isn't helping. Compare this to 75094 Tydirium and it's easy to see the drop in quality and marketability. The prices are just a joke now. Who asked for this? Who wanted it? I think they're going through the list of previous sets and slowly checking off re-releases one by one. It reeks of greed and money-grubbing. Sincerest sympathy to the generation of kids growing up with these sets, and for the parents paying these prices
I think that this shuttle is an improvement over the prior one except for the troop compartment. I would have liked to see them update the old troop compartment by ditching the bomb drop feature and the technic launchers which would free up more cabin space for probably 6 figures all sitting plus a little area for weapons storage or 9 figures without the weapons storage. They could then add on either a little ramp under the cockpit or a larger ramp on the back (either one would work) which would provide the area to pose the figures disembarking. Finally I would get rid of Obi Wan and R2 and add at least 2 more storm troopers although I think ideally it should include 1 pilot and 6 storm troopers since it is a troop shuttle.
The first one had a function to move the wings. This one at least has a ramp. It is also $30 more costly than the first one and it has Obi and R2 which should have been four troopers instead.
I really wish they'd start making those 2 stud neck brackets in different colours. Even if it's just black. The trans-clear just doesn't look right for backpacks and the like.
Very nice Alec Guinness Impersonation. 🤣 I was looking forward to this ship as a companion piece to the Tydirium shuttle and/or the droids' escape pod and I must say I'm a bit disappointed. Tydirium cost about the same, could fit more figures, some cargo and had blaster storage. 🙁 I understand that Lego felt the need to include some Tatooine related rebel figures for the Imperials to chase, it's a toy after all. Yet neither Artoo nor old Ben ever engaged these ships. I would have also preferred two more Sandtroopers, like 1 sergeant and 1 private to build a reasonably sized patrol.
It's an improvement over the last one for sure but I really do not like the gaps from the front on either side with the way the sides are angled. They aren't supposed to be angled like that in universe and it makes it look like it was put together wrong. I do like the design of the sides, the tops of them should've just been lowered a stud or 2 to have them be flush with the bottom section.

If you mean the ones at the front and back, there is a fix for the rear one. It's a little fiddly though... 1) Move the entire engine section one stud backwards. It does still fit securely. 2) Pull out the two black double-length axle-clip pieces (you'll probably need to use something like a pair of pliers as they are quite tight once in place) and replace with a 4-stud plain axle. 3) Move the two white canopy pieces one technic hole upwards to cover the rear holes. I've also got an 8-stud axle running across both sides in the unused hole in the canopy pieces and a 1x8 white tile across the studs on each pice to provide some extra rigidity. Still working on the front gap. There's also a fix for the gaps at the bottom of the cargo bay in my comment up at the top.
With all the gaps and the too-short wings and the weirdly blocky underside to the cockpit, this set looks like a first draft that somehow made it to production. Imo the price is absurd, too. These mid-sized ships keep creeping up to the price we used to get large ships at, and it doesn't even come with all that many figures. Tbh, the 11 year old version of this set is just about as good as this version other than the cockpit canopy.

I had the og one and I think it was way better than the new one. I loved that it had two technic rockets and more than enough space for more troops
it has wayyy more play features, looks better, has cooler minifigures.... and was priced excellently compared to this

The Imperial Landing Craft is my Favorite Imperial vehicle but in Star Wars it’s a lot bigger on the inside and out

Even though this one is newer I still have the old one built and I probably won’t get it.
The old one has a way better interior and minifig comp , I like it better.
You can at least fill 8 (normal) troops in it, also maybe an extra 4 using the ramp as space.
I'd say just buy a battle pack to go with it.

I've also got an 8-stud axle running across both sides in the unused hole in the canopy pieces and a 1x8 white tile across the studs on each pice to provide some extra rigidity.
Still working on the front gap. There's also a fix for the gaps at the bottom of the cargo bay in my comment up at the top.
The last set released with the original stormtrooper helmet. Why did LEGO change it?

With all the gaps and the too-short wings and the weirdly blocky underside to the cockpit, this set looks like a first draft that somehow made it to production. Imo the price is absurd, too. These mid-sized ships keep creeping up to the price we used to get large ships at, and it doesn't even come with all that many figures. Tbh, the 11 year old version of this set is just about as good as this version other than the cockpit canopy.
I kinda want to see someone turn this into a shuttle tydirium.

I feel like this ship has too many exposed studs on the wings. Many other recent ships have had some sort of greebling or tile work to hide the studs.

Now we want to put our city on tables just like you and many others so we can put our Lego Minecraft or Lego Kingdom underneath it on smaller tables. We already have the big tables but we don't find any small tables.
