Overpricing like this drives me further and further away from the LEGO sets. I love Star Wars and LEGO with all my heart, but there seem to be better ways to spend my money on franchise stuff.
Best thing to do is wait for it to go on sale for lower prices. I know how LEGO has been messing up with prices, but we just need to hope for the best.
I wish it had a feature where you could extend it like palpatines throne room had Edit : put the Snoke guards battle pack or 2 behind the chair , plus the extra guards it comes with , it's great 👍

Had the FO AT-ST sold a lower price, maybe. As it is, it was sold for the same price as the previous AT-ST that had just retired at time. And that AT-ST looked more complete than FO one. For now, FO AT-ST is still the undisputed worst SW Lego system set.

Vust Valeo I mean they made a set where you can raise zombies from their graves, and there's also the recent Garmadon which Jang feels is a bit gory. That would be cool tho
I always thought LEGO Snoke would have looked better with that robe piece that the Praetorian Guards have (except gold). Then you could add a couple gold 2×2 plates under it to make him taller. The legs are good for sitting him in his throne, though.
LEGO knows we’re going to buy this no matter the price. It’s such an iconic scene with many desirable figures, two of which come in very expensive sets and two of which are brand new. LEGO knows kids will ask their parents to buy this set for Ben and Rey and they also know collectors want those Guards. That’s the reason for the price. Great set though, just not worth it.
Charles Bricks Well Legos wrong about that with me. I would buy this set but it’s just to much of a ripoff. U realize what u can get with $70? LEGO can’t charge this much for this set. This is no bigger than the Duel on Naboo and that was $30 I think, and even that is too much for me.
This is probably my favorite scene in TLJ, really looking forward to this set since the midnight screening, but it is kinda disappointing, the minifig selection is good but I wish they have new facial expressions since I already have the same Rey/Kylo/Snoke, especially Rey has been using the same head since 2015. In Australia we can get it with AU$79 which is about 20% off, not bad but probably I will just get the guards on bricklink.
Very professional review. I am a fan of the diorama. I will be adding my own modifications to fix the things that I find issue with. I hope Lego makes the rest of the praetorian guard designs!
I'm still getting this at $70, I loved the scene, I have the money, the figures are all in a $160, $150, $20 set and two new exclusives with a good display model. I am also going to heavenly modify it with my own pieces so it is more accurate with the red.

They really should have included two big vinyl "curtains" that could be swung forward and back, depending on how you wanted to view it. I don't think it would have been too much to ask.
Picked up the set today. I was hesitant to buy it but when I saw the New Battle pack coming out I knew I needed to get this set so I could mesh them together
I just realized that Kylo Ren's print has a slim waist like female characters usually have. :U And even Snoke has just a little bit of it as well. Mabye this is more common for male characters than I thought. I don't mind it though. Just thought they only did that for female characters so it surprised me.
Lego should make taller legs (not as tall as woody's) but they made medium legs for Harry Potter so they should make a leg size in between woody's and the regular ones

What’s the weight of the set? Those large plate pieces that build the bottom could be part of the reason why it’s so expensive. Larger pieces = heavier sets = more plastic = more money. I’m pretty sure Battle of Scarif got a pretty hefty price tag for the same reason
I feel that the support struts could have been angled toward the turbolift instead of their bases being set 90 degrees to it. They could have opened up out toward Snoke's throne, allowing more room for accessibility in play & eliminating a lot of the negative space between the turbolift & supports. I also have an idea of how to make Snoke's throne better, maybe add another feature, but it's going to wait until I finally have it in hand . . . and that's not going to happen until the price goes down.
I'd love to see a Star Wars battle pack made that has not only the petroleum guards but maybe to death Troopers as well ,like 2 death Troopers 2 petroleum guards and maybe a gun turret or a small speeder like the imperial guard battle pack
Hi Jane I very much agree with what you were saying about prices. I believe that Lego is a larger company it could make it prices world wide. You said you paid $70 US FOR THE SET here in New Zealand you are paid $100+ for it. I think if US paid $70 the world should paid $70 as well.

Not sure what Lego was thinking...Actually, I know exactly what they were thinking, they knew people wanted this as a set, so they wanted to make as much money on it as they possibly could. I'm glad I hate the sequels, because otherwise I would've wanted this and would've been ticked off.
This, the Jedi training set and the restistance shuttle are my Favorite sets of the of the 3 “The last Jedi” set waves (I count the 2017 battle pack as A “The Force Awakens” set)
No defending the price, that's for sure. But as for needing more guards, I don't think the playable space allows more than maybe one more. Definitely should have different styles to the guards though.
I sooooo wanted this set when i first saw it. Then i saw the price and just can't see the value in it AT ALL!! Looks amazing but I think I'll spend some dollars to just get one of the guards to add to the collection.
LEGO has been very proud of their products lately based on the prices of this and other sets, most notably Solo and Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. No way I’m going to pay that much money for less than 500 pieces and five mini figures two of which are the exact same helmet molds, and all of the exact same figures are available in other sets.

I also wonder if and to what extent Lego incorporate later sale dates into the price, knowing they'll sooner than later be put on sale. I think of the console battle; start at $500 for the people who *need new* and within the next hear drop the price by 15-25% for the more reasonable.
I think the price may be due to the licensed theme even if it doesn't make much more sense considering how the merchandising sells this good...Also legos are still pricey toys but this doesn't excuse them either.

It's been nearly three years since the kylo saber mold came out and I still hate it. The blade is ok but if they little grooves in the hilt so that the cross is in the hilt it would be better.

The Assassin Droid battle pack was actually pretty cool. Very slick speeder, came with 5 droids, and was overall cool.

I also noticed less spare pieces in all new sets since June 1st.
