      Tom Brady showed he can play in any era. When he came into the NFL from Michigan, every team was still running a pro-style offense with three, five, and seven step drop backs for quarterbacks and much fewer shotgun sets. Mahomes is a system quarterback who would not be effective in a pro-style offense because he's been allowed to play street ball thanks to the NFL making it harder to play defense due to just about every kind of hit that would rattle receivers now being illegal.

    One of the reasons Brady gets slighted in these debates about him vs Mahomes, is because he doesn't have great mobility. So people who see Mahomes as better than Brady, generally look at his ability to better escape pressure than Brady and his ability to create when the play breaks down, as a quality that makes him a more dangerous quarterback. But the thing is, Brady understood that mobility was a limitation of his and that's y he mastered the mental part of the game from taking the check down, throwing with anticipation, using his pocket mobility, throwing the ball away to live to see another down, etc. to the point where he was rarely in a position where his lack of mobility could be exploited by the defense. He made his strengths his super power and didn't allow his weaknesses to become handicaps. Mahomes is more dynamic and physically talented than Brady but no one has ever executed the position of QB better than Brady

    • @jonathanwatson1908
      @jonathanwatson1908 8 месяцев назад +14

      that's one reason, but not the MAIN reason. the MAIN reason why Brady gets slighted is because for 2+ decades, this man broke hearts more than any other quarterback in the past 20 years. Regular season, Postseason, Super Bowl it don't matter. More times than not, you had to literally wait until triple zeroes before you can say you won. Putting the Super Bowl comebacks to the side for a second, what about the 24-0 comeback against Denver when Peyton was there? what about the comeback against Cleveland years ago when they trailed by 11 points. Don't get me started on how they owned Pittsburgh during his reign. Plus, for most of his career the man didn't have any star guys outside of Randy Moss and Gronk. To top it off, the NFL was MORE tougher than it is now. You can get knocked out in the 2000s and prior. Nowadays, you hit them hard, flags come out more.

    Nothing against Patrick Mahomes, but he is no Tom Brady. Brady played for over two decades on Teams that were typically very undistinguished & under-talented on Offense, and where he had no "game breaking" or Pro-Bowl level players around him. Yet he would find a way to pull out victory from the jaws of defeat time and time and time again, and perform miraculously in the most critical points in the game in spite of that -- as a matter of routine!!! -- and elevate the whole Team around him to play beyond themselves and really believe in themselves. Brady took his Team to 10 [TEN] Super Bowls, won 7 [SEVEN] (and had them leading at the end of the 4th quarter in EACH of those 3 losses -- but the Defense just failed to hold it). Now..... let's see what happens after another 9 to10 years. Maybe ... Mahomes will catch up to Brady ... but it is also probably far more likely that Mahomes loses some of his mobility (with either age, or injuries) and he cannot then even perform at the same level. Tom Brady, on the other hand, did not ever need "mobility" to outplay & outperform the rest of the League. And at the age of 44 (forty-four), Tom Brady threw for 5300 Yards and had 43 TDs (he deserved to have won the NFL MVP that season). Patrick Mahomes, on the other hand, did not have a season THAT prolific & great right here in the year 2023 .. at the age of 28 -- while he is still in the very Prime of his life!! When the dust settles, History will show that no one ever did MORE than Tom Brady, and do it as consistently as Brady did, and do it without much Pro-Bowl talent around him -- with lots of cast offs, bad draft choices, & journeyman receivers always coming and going.
    People always wanted to place or project Aaron Rogers "ahead of" Brady too, or Peyton Manning (who often choked in his Big Games) ahead of him too -- but they could never make it work. Brady was just simply more masterful, compiled better on-field results, and did it for longer than anyone else did ... period.
    And for people who say that Brady was just "carried by the Defense" in the early years --- that is also very WRONG. Tom Brady won 4 different AFC Player-of-the-week Awards in that first season of playing (2001), one NFL Player-of-the-month award, and had a Pro-Bowl season. Then ... in the Playoffs he threw for 340 yards IN A BLIZZARD, and won the NFL MVP in that year's Super Bowl. And... his second Super Bowl was a SHOOTOUT. So the "Defense" was never the reason for Brady's success, nor .. all of his amazing "come-from-behind" Victories in the clutch against frankly better NFL Teams THAT GOT THEM to be a perennial Dynasty. Tom Brady was ALWAYS just special, and ALWAYS was the real difference maker (that same 2001 Team was 0 - 2 under Belichick with Drew Bledsoe, and 5 - 11 the previous year). So .......get back to me after Patrick Mahomes wins his EIGHTH Super Bowl folks ....

      Listen, Brady is the goat as of right now, for sure, and that’s not the debate here. The question here is who you got between the two for one game. It’s not even a question when you just look at the talent/eye tests and the numbers. to determine who is the better player between Tom and Patrick in their first seven seasons? It’s a fair comparison here. Just in that time frame, Patrick has done way more impressive things than Brady.
      And it’s true Brady has done all of that, but I’ve seen Mahomes win a game in 13 seconds. And has a record of 8-2 after trailing by double digits in the 4th quarter in the playoffs.
      I’m sorry, but let’s make sure that we aren't just talking without context. The two wins that Brady has against Mahomes are because of a coin toss and a decimated O-line. That same year, Brady won the superbowl against Mahomes; the Buccaneers lost the game early that year against Mahomes with the Chiefs O-line healthy.

      Wrong again yeah Eli beat Tom twice. But Eli only got two SB. U got to remember because Brady and them were so cocky. Then remembered Brady beat Eli to go 16-0. They took Giants lightly. Then that Giants Defense was no joke. But what Brady do at the end score made it 14-10 with 2 minutes left. That defense allow them to blow that game. Lucky plays. Because people got tired hearing abt Brady. Then second SB Wes walker drop it that game was over if he caught that ball. Then defense again gave points up. Then Brady made up for it in other SB. So he when in Kansas City and beat them. Then in SB with Tampa he did it again. So it is a difference Phi simms beat Joe Montana twice in playoffs he still not better then Joe. Giants had defense to stop him. However Brady score with him in afc championship game. He had to be at his best with 2min Brady when down and score.

    • @semihard

      @@keithjubilee2808 he's simply pointing out the hypocrisy of the comments that brady is better because he beat mahomes in sb... you say that the giants only won because they had great defense but you don't account for great defense in brady's career. he had top 10 rankings for points allowed per drive for over a decade. The defense helped him big time to stall out big games to clutch it up. he had on average negative passer rating and negative net yards per attempt difference between regular and post season. All I'm saying is that there's a lot of factors that go into a quarterback's success. We can all have a discussion as fans without outright saying someone's wrong simply you don't agree with it. I'd say that brady is the most clutch quarterback based on his track record. He could suck for 3 quarters but as long as his defense did their job well he'd clutch it up in 4th quarter.

It's hilarious of people just forget Burrow and Jalen Hurts were both robbed last year and Mahomes should be sitting one 1 SB, and even the Niners Chiefs SB from 2019 was full of Chiefs breaks with Nick Bosa getting held all game, plus a Kittle bogus OPI before the half that would have led to at the very least 3 pts if not 7. That's not to mention all the regular season games with bogus calls that have led to positioning them in the playoffs. The NFL has handed the Chiefs and Mahomes everything. Meanwhile, Brady primarily got one major call, which was the tuck rule...a really crap rule, but it was correctly called at the time. Over time, he benefited from bad calls as well as got screwed. It evened out because he played 21 years in the league. Mahomes has gotten an unprecedented amount of favoritism in just 6 short years with the NFL promoting the Swifties, handing the Chiefs the #1 seed because of Damar Hamlin's near tragedy, etc.

    how old ist Pat 28? He will face the same destiny as every mobile QB before him. After his 30 mark when he loses more and more mobility and cant rely on it any more he will become left in the dust very quick. They same happend to Russ Wilson the same talk here on Mahomes. And once again a massiv disrespect over TB12.

    Brady’s second superbowl he threw for 350+ and 3 tds. Bro said it was all defense for his first 3?? Mahomes hasn’t done that in his 3 Super Bowl appearances lmao these analysts are wild.

    If Mahomes win 4 in 7, it would have taken half the time as Brady who won 4 in 14. Injuries are a part of the game. Mahomes doesn’t need a great team to do what he does. It’s Mahomes over Brady and it’s not even close.
