- The 2019 Paris Choral Festival was held in La Madeleine to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day. Dr. Gary Schwartzhoff served as Artistic Director and conducted a festival choir with singers from across the United States.
You’re going to hear this hymn every September 8 in Galveston, Texas. The reason? The day is the anniversary of
The Great Hurricane of 1900 that obliterated much of
the city and killed 13000 people
Lovely. The gentle quiet approach changes the feeling of the hymn. It's beautiful -- like an elegy.
Can't wait for the 2024 80th Anniversary!!!

@@brians9508 America's participation in freeing France from German occupation. It's a big deal there. Kids adopt graves, classes make annual trips to the cemetery, etc.

Music is great, but the recording is way off. What kind of recording is this?! It has completely ruined it.

unfortunate placement of that snare drum - must be 3 feet from the microphone
The song is a prayer to God as if sung on the deck of a ship in peril in a violent storm. Orchestra and choir is not conveying that feeling. Cadence should be faster and in time as if with ship’s prow as I crashes down into each new wave.
says the master of all music, because of course music is meant to have one single interpretation. right. thou shall not provide dissent. yes master!
Not much peril from these slow rolling, almost placid, waves and breakers!

Too bad the quality of this recording does NOT do this performance justice. This is TERRIBLE! This was a beautiful performance, ruined for us by the TERRIBLE recording quality. I am SUPER ANGRY about this. Why? Why even bother??????????????????
where were you? why weren't you there to do a better job of recording this? oh that's right. you were sitting on your couch eating chocolate bon-bons and bitching about other people's recordings
