Ein wahnsinniges schönes Werk. Dem Komponisten kann man nur weiterhin viel Erfolg wünschen.Habe es schon einmal live gehört. Man wird süchtig nach dieser Musik. ❤
Dan Forrest, the Lord has gifted you with a unique musical talent . your compositions penetrate the soul in a way that words cannot desxribe . Thank you for the beauty in your music and the singers are .....breathtaking.
This is the wonderful side of RUclips, finding unexpected gifts such as this group. The choir is so in tune with each other and the orchestra . I now have a new favorite. This is such an inspiration while staying at home during covid-19. Thank you for an outstanding performance.
My daughter’s choir performed this piece tonight at Syracuse University. I live far so I watched the livestream. Apparently Dan Forest was listening as well! I fell in love with this piece. It’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard. I had to come find him in action. Not disappointed! Wow!!!
I have listened to this multiple times. I find myself over and over again contemplating the underlying scripture and message being conveyed. Jesus is the Light of the World. All of our sins are extinguished by his holiness. Eternal life; a gift of love. Praise to God. The performance is wonderful. Contemplative shading at the appropriate points with crescendo's of praise. Thank You to all involved.
wow for once since everything got cancelled, I was actually able to sing through "The Sun Never Says" without crying. but I may have spoken too soon cause I feel like I'm about to cry.
If for this piece alone, Dan Forrest has cemented his place as the greatest sacred choral composer alive, and among the ranks of the greatest composers to have ever lived. A glorious blend of talent and skill. Solo Dei Gloria!
I am taken by the musicians as well as the singers. What a dedicated and talented orchestra. How does Rivertree find such people to perform so flawlessly with so little practice. Flawless performance after which everyone goes home and gets ready for work and taking care of babies.
I am glad this style of music is coming back . That is angels voices . This is the kind of music that suits the soul , and it's a blessing to still have composers , arrangers and mach-boxes this our rap music days to let the world know what music is all about . Thank you very much .
My church, Birmingham First United Methodist Church in Birmingham, MI performed this twice in 2019. It has become one of my most favorite pieces of music. I am so grateful for this performance being recorded so I can listen to it again and again!
Amazing work, Dan Forrest! I especially appreciated the gorgeous, yet sensitive string writing. Another masterpiece! Also a stunning performance by the RiverTree Singers, I can always count on your group to produce a high-quality recording!
I sing with the Salt Lake Choral Artists and we're preparing this piece for our upcoming Christmas concert. I find it wonderful to sing. I love the dissonance that happens more often later in the work.
A magnificent experience that l needed after the death of my partner Mark of 27 years. I am forever grateful to these fine musicians, my spirit is lifted by the voices and instruments, Aleluyia and Amen !!! ☺
A stunningly relaxed, expansive, and accurate performance of this wonderful piece, especially considering the complexity of performing with such a large group! It is indeed appropriate to have so many involved, however, since the full majesty of the subject matter is intensified. Gotta love RUclips! It is so worthwhile to experience the contrast between this large enterprise and the Salt lake Choral Artists more intimate chamber version. Each one has its strengths.
Magnificent Christmas music. Isaiah 9:2 is a theme verse for Providence Downtown Church in Idaho Falls. Lux in Tenebris (John 1:5) was the theme for Old Faithful Christian Ranch (based in Island Park, Idaho) in 2020. Gloria in Excelsis is my preaching text for this Sunday in Eastern Idaho. Thank you, Dan; and thank you to all these singers and musicians. God is light.
Loved this. Really good to hear the Soloists Nikki and Jason again plus also a shout out the the Cello 1 to the conductors right. I found myself listening for his playing. Who was this?
I feel like this work is mostly about color and texture than it is about the choir, so I see what you mean. Portions of the work is based on chant, so there won't be much movement. I also think that the orchestra is highlighted here and does a wonderful job. The choir is almost back-up singers.
It's kind of a drag to practice for on your own... but once everything is put together? No longer boring, even as a singer in my opinion. The dissonance and color come together so beautifully. I'm going to be performing this soon, but there wasn't enough participation so we ended up combining with another group and cutting movements II and V for Schubert Mass in G, I'm so sad about it.
really and truly cannot hear the winds at all! (especially woodwinds). IS this a scoring problem or an acoustics problem, or what? (nothing to do with the players!)
Excellent performance by the choir and orchestra but the choir score was less than engaging. I was disappointed as I have normally enjoyed Dan Forrest's pieces. The ending was very anti-climatic. My wife and I both said, "Is that it?"
Since I was one of the singers to fly 2000 miles to sing this performance, and know the intricacies of the execution, until you understand the difficulty level you should keep your criticisms to yourself. The perfect blending of constant sound is difficult to achieve, and I was especially proud of how well an international group of seasoned singers could pull this off in a short period of time. Besides, the only audience that mattered was God. I felt He was pleased.

I'm in a school choir and we are going to perform this whole score! Stone High School Mississippi!

Singing in this performance is one of my favorite musical memories!
Ever since Requiem For the Living I have loved your performances. You are incredible.
Absolutely tear-jerking performance
This brings hope for all of us during these current times.

36:35 - goosebumps! Amazing choir and orchestra! This whole movement is incredible to listen to, and was even more fun to sing when i did!
Sounds like a theme song..especially the lux- in-tenebris staccato effect. Waiting for the perfect movie to come along.

Magnificent. The camera work and editing are as beautiful as the music. Thank you.

As a choir member this piece is not very exciting to sing. However, this performance made me appreciate its placid beauty.

so true

where is the cadence?? I don't hear it not even at the end?

@@janschiebout7955 Correct, sing in worship to God. He is always pleased with that
