I have become a big fan of anything Dan Forrest does and this recording reaches in and yearns for a place to settle in your heart and soul. It assures me that sacred music will always keep alive the joy and hope we have for mankind but it deepens our Faith. During this pandemic, we all need to return to the music and spoken word inspired by the new and old testament. This recording by the Rivertree Singers and Friends is electrifying and emotional. Thank you Rivertree and Dan Forrest!

Thanks to Dan for writing such compelling music for us as musicians to academically strive for but spiritually to exalt our God with! I loved every minute of this journey and am thrilled that others get to experience the nations and creation praising our God!

I had the honor of singing this work for the Carnage Hall premiere in NYC this year where I got to meet the composer, who actually accompanied us on piano one of the last days of rehearsal, and Dr. Henry Leck conducted us. It was such an unreal, practically ethereal moment for me as a college student. I was also a soprano solo for the second movement in the East Tennessee premiere. I am blessed by God beyond words can explain.

If anyone unfamiliar with Dan Forrest's work heard Requiem For The Living and thought it was a fluke, this composition permanently puts any such notion to rest. In America 2020, where there has been much tension in discussions on race, the ancient Psalm lifts us beyond individual people groups to "all the earth". No matter your nationality, tribal identity, or ethnic group, it is possible to enter His gates and into His courts. Thank you. We make a joyful shout to YHWH.

    • @DianeGraft

Except that "all the earth" doesn't share your views about religion, so it's hardly a thing to unite us all. It divides us more than it unites. But people of all religions, or even none at all, can unite in appreciating the art and joy of a wonderful piece of music such as this one.

Our great Conductor , James Libbey had this big dream on our 25th anniversary to finally make it happen. The author Dan Forrest had his eye on us from afar. Oh yes each movement was magical and breathtaking. It was challenging with everything coming together, instruments and voices. Absolutely beautiful. 😊

It is hard to me to imagine that such magnificence can come from man. This multitasker could not do anything be but listen and engage. Oh my! The entire ensemble was so totally engaged and within this masterful composition. The beauty and lingering experience is so sweet as the leaking continues. I could not but praise the holy One throughout - utterly out of my control. Thank you, thank, thank you!

Rythm is the next frontier of classical music. Composers of the 19th-20th centuries got everything out of harmony and chromaticism that they could, all the way to breaking point with atonality. But percussion and rythm still have so much to offer, Walton's work is prophetic (Belshazaar's Feast espescially). Very exiting times!

Sacramento got to hear the West Coast premiere of this work as conducted by Donald Kendrick of Sacramento State last weekend (May 12, 2018). It was chosen to honor Kendrick's retirement after 33 years as professor of choral music. It was a major event and a major success.

      Hello, Tony -
Thank you so much for introducing me to this beautiful work!
It’s after 1 AM, NYC time, and as I listen to this, I can feel myself relaxing.

Faço questão de deixar um comentário em português. Essa Beleza toda me arrebatou. E por ser essa emoção universal, é justo que se evidencie a todos seu alcance a todos os povos... a todos os puros de coração que viram Deus sorrir ao ouvir essa... enormidade!...

This is not a good recording of the piece. The groove is off the whole time. The Salzburg Cathedral one is way better.
