Im so glad you spoke abt our players in leagues, Ahmer! You're right on the money here. I feel very strongly about this (in favor of players' right to earn from those leagues). Excuse my mini-rant here, but Im furious (jaise main koi khud union leader houn lol) at the punishment wala attitude of the PCB as you right identify it. Our players cant do IPL which is mega bucks and a player can be one-and-done if one had a lucrative gig like IPL (even so, Pat Cummins has a 3 yr MLC contract starting this yr despite his IPL money). So unko yehi tiddi un-prestigious leagues ki opportunist milti hai.... khelnay do bhai... 3 players hain... let them play and earn a halal living. Pakistan ki economy dekhain, is it fair at all to prevent someone from earning a living in these times? I find it SUPER unfair. Main dharna denay ke liye tayyar houn ke PCB tameez keray thori si. Badmashi phelayee huee hai. Pakistan's losses are due to bad mgt decisions and selection decisions. Who made Babar captain again? Was his recent captaincy a surprise for us? Nope. We saw the writing on the wall and yet we are now punishing players based on this performance. PCB picked him as captain and half-selector and destroyed the dressing room. They should take accountability themselves first before preventing players from playing in leagues.

I want to get your honest take on these 90s ke legends. Why are we still stuck on these same old babay yaar as if they conquered world cricket. Yes they were talented but they performed way below their potential in major ICC tournaments too. 92 World Cup bhi Waise hi jeete thay jaise pechle t20 ke final main pohonche thay - relying on other teams results.
For me the core reason for our performance is involving these 90s ke babay in coaching / management. There is an interview of M Yusuf when he was U-19 coach. He was asked how youngsters can be taught power hitting and his response was “Saeed Anwar was the fastest player in our time and he never did power hitting so why do we think we need to teach power hitting”. Yeh tou mentality hai. Now compare to Dravid, Ganguly, Kumble, Agarkar, and Gambhir and imagine them saying something similar.
    Rant over.

Pakistan IS playing Australia this year, tour of 6 white ball matches down under in November.
Also, far be it from me to tell you guys what to talk about but if you ever get the chance, could we get a podcast on the Wasim Khan tenure? How it started, how he fared, the ups and downs, successes failures and finally why he was removed?
Seems like he was the best guy for the job in ages but never got a fair shake, would love to listen to a retrospective if possible

I fear Mohsin Naqvi's reign of terror will explode in devastating fashion for cricket as a whole in Pakistan. These restrictions on the players will lead to someone - Shaheen? - striking out whilst Babar, the captain who owes his job to Naqvi, stays silent and becomes the pro establishment support.
Also, in the name of Batta Fast can we get on Arshad Nadeem who broke a damn Olympic record throwing a javelin at quick speed and brought home the gold 🏅
Also, I love Osman bhai t-shirt as it sums up my daily battery level 👌🏽

Not making Shan Masood the captain in all formats after what he did in Aus is the most smooth brained decision taken by pcb

    • @shadowknight00
      @shadowknight00 2 месяца назад +5

You are forgetting the fact that the last time we won a test match in aus was 20 years ago or something. If what you are saying was a deciding factor, babar shouldn't be a captain either

Ahmer and Osman bhais, you guys recognise that Pakistan is approaching its busiest schedule in years but still criticise the curtailing of noc. I think pcb has been consistent in its communication regarding this. gillespie in his interview to Danyal also corroborated this.

You guys exaggerate too much.. often it's funny and enjoyable but to say shaheen as all time great.. this was just full toss waiting to be hit out of the park.. bus karden bhai..the guy does not even merit a place in the side right now on current form.. and he's been down since he's had surgery.. should go back to first class and get his rhythm back as he's only one trick pony now. First over and every team has figured him out.

While you have a point about rain, everything else about tape ball cricket will end up same as hard ball cricket if it takes off. The powers to be will take over that as well.
The problem is organizational, not the idiosyncrasies of the sport.

PCB has definitely messed up the potential of PSL. Instead of letting India (and the ICC) dictate and ruin our international cricket involvement, I say PCB should just withdraw from the ICC voluntarily. May sound extreme but if revenue is the goal then just focus on and expand the PSL. We have a market of 240 million people. Hell, PSL could provide the much needed impetus for infrastructure such as public transit (trains, buses), stadiums, etc. I say follow the American baseball model. Major league, minor league, merchandizing, local heroes, stat obsession, batting cages, film, TV. The opportunities are fucking endless. Also why the fuck doesn’t Karachi have more than one team? Can’t believe they’ve fucked it up this bad.

You say 11 countries playing cricket, there will be some countries that look at the way Pak, Bang, SL handle their cricket and post LA 2028 say, bet.
I totally see the European teams like Belgium/Spain/Germany getting into it in a couple of cycles, just like they did in hockey.

In a not so dystopian Pakistani world:
The board and the old guard of Pakistan cricket criticise Napoleon for being too damn offensive in his mindset to be a long term wicket keeper batsman for Pakistan. He ought to slow down on his war cries a bit.

I often feel Players should have a Players association. Unionize now. Like the Aussies have an association looking after players' interests and negotiating for their best with CA. "contract" violations by PCB are a dime a dozen. Har new Chief overrides the existing players contracts, with zero legal recourse open to players. Thats why they resort to these stupid media PR games and journo agenda games to have some leverage in this Hobbesian world of PCB. Rant over. Sorry mujhe dil halka kerna tha, coz Im watching the Canada league and I watched MLC...LOVED that Haris Rauf shared the dressing room with Pat Cummins - shayad koi do anay ki cheez hi seekh li hogi Raufster ne. He was largely wicketless but bowled some good, tight overs there in a few matches. We need our players to get exposure. ok now pakka rant over.

Without being centrally contacted there is less likelihood of playing for pakistan and if they dont get to play pakistan, there is highly unlikely they will have any brand / cricketing value to be selected for the two franchises to be able to make twice the money as centrally contracted player as you put it. So the argument is a bit flawed.
The guys are getting paid shit loads of money.. they need to priortize country. You cant compare their contract value to australia or other country. Benchmarking always takes into account cost of living/gdp of the country.. it normalises the contract value's from each country before you use it for comparison.
