Nasser Hussain is spot on about the need for adaptation. England’s cricket team carries a rich legacy, but losing like this, and in such a fashion, is truly embarrassing. Moreover, this is not the first time their inability to handle spin has made them look bad. Cricket isn’t just about playing Australia; there’s much more to the game. England is supposed to be a superpower, but constantly blaming the pitch doesn’t make sense. Whether in India, Bangladesh, or Sri Lanka, would they still say the same? In my opinion, the real issue lies in their mindset, approach, and team selection.
Over the years, they’ve faced similar defeats - in 2005, 2011, 2016, and now again. It seems like whenever they hear about a spin-friendly or slow pitch, their shoulders drop and their confidence crumbles. In fact, it’s almost psychological at this point. Rather than folding under pressure, they need to stay positive and learn from these failures.
    Love from Chitral, Pakistan.

fully agree with this, i do think the 2nd test was won at the Toss however and England could have easily been series winners 2-1 as that pitch for the 2nd test was literally 8 days old by the time of England's 2nd innings

@@jimfisher7727nah I disagree, the thing is your spinners couldn't utilize the pitch to its fullest while our spinners definitely did, it was more dependent on spin playing ability rather than toss being the complete factor. That is the cult mentality-the leader (McCullum) must be obeyed & never challenged-even if it keeps failing in big series, because they can always delude themselves when they skittle teams at home in perfect English conditions, or win a test in India or Pakistan on a flatbed. They have backed themselves into a corner with bazball & now can't leave it. Abysmal techniques in modern day cricket-in large part due to the never ending T20 slog dross has meant they are unable to defend their wicket & be patient.
Not to blame McCullum-this nonsense started when the 50 over team got turned around & the ECB wanted Root to captain/play this way in tests-but this pairing of two ultra aggressive people like Stokes & McMullum is as dangerous as the ultra negative pairing of Hussain & Fletcher was for England. McCullum clearly should be in charge of the T20 & 50 over teams, but it needs somebody else who will take this side back to basics & instill in them how to play five day cricket properly & know when to attack-not attack constantly. Some people may find this stuff exciting-but I have long been bored with England tests ending in three days, or even in four days with rain delays.

But this has been going on for a while. Cook said the same thing when England was losing against the subcontinent teams in early 2010's. They don't need a spin bowling consultant (though I feel Mushtaq Ahmed did a great job with Monty and Swan). They need a full fledged spin environment where there are spin friendly wickets in the county structure. Rehang and Bashir are young and are good but they simply don't have the experience to bowl on wickets that help them as much as this.
