One of those moments that is like Nostalgia in the present tense. You just know you're watching something special. Although Root still hopefully has a long time to go yet and is really in many ways just about at his peak, it did feel like today was, in some sense, a handing on of the baton from Root to Brook...the day Brook stepped out of Root's shadow. When Root's gone and Brook is still continuing on, we'll look back on this moment when we had both simultaneously as very very special indeed.

It's harder to do in drier parts of the world. In countries where water is plentiful from above (rainfall) and below (deep water tables) it's easier to produce a pitch with grass and moisture.

No doubt Root is the best batter in Test cricket especially in the last 3-4years right from Covid time ,but somehow Root doesn't do well against a top team like Australia,Root has bad batting average in Australia and he struggles big time there and root also had a bad series in India 6months back ,but still i would say he is the best batsman in the world currently and as they records are meant to broken ,root definitely can beat Master Blaster Tendulkar s record ..best of luck ...but next 16months will crucial how he bats especially against newzealand, against a very strong indian team and ofcourse ashes in early 2026

U can cherry pick stats about certain players like roots average in Australia, u can say tendulkar never scored a ton at lords like many greats have but it will never take away the class of these players, I think root will end his career as the most successful test batsmen of all time

This is why test cricket will also be the hardest format. Nothing tests your mental strength, your fitness and your determination like test cricket. Pakistan were already beaten when they came to bat in the 2nd innings. Being on the field for so long conceding more than 800 runs killed Pakistan mentally. Pitches like this test your mental strength more than your technique
