My strut replacements were ordered from Parts Geek. Aftermarket struts are a bit too long and require loosening of the 12 mm bolts holding tailgate hinge to allow installation. This is not to dismiss the aftermarket supplier or this video but it adds a significant wrinkle to the installation.
Just followed your video to replace 2 struts on a 1998 Volvo V70 GLT. Took 20 minutes and I saved $200 from what my local repair show quoted. Purchased new OEM struts for $36/ea.
Wonderful, thank you! I just got a 1998 V70 that needs the shocks replaced, as well as a few other things like hood release and various mini bulbs (gonna go LED too, likely)
Well I the tail gate is fixed but we did manage to crack the plastic moulding on both sides tring to pull it away. We did have several beers before attempting this fix but not sure sobriety would have helped save the plastic moulding. Thanks for the information.
95' 850, got the old shocks out, unable to install newer ones as are longer than the place to be installed. Is a special tool required for their installation?
Thanks for the video! Got the kit, 15 minutes total, and my hatch stays up now. Hallelujah!
Great to hear!
Thanks for this video. Just did this on my '99 V70 and it was really easy.

Great video! Saved me at least $200!
This video was just what I needed.
You guys should do more videos, they are always great! 5*
Make sure the tailgate is as open as it can go or the struts won't seem to fit. Took me 30 minutes on a P2.

TY VERY MUCH...EASY...if you know how...
Many thanks!
thank u, u helped me alot :)
Pretty sparse info at the end unfortunately. The 2 x 12mm bolts holding the bracket, toward the far end need removing to get them off properly.
