Not a fan of flat profiles with an 8bit camera. Nikon colors are one of the best, the standard profile is wonderful. I like to pull down brightness to -1.5 on the standard profile for even more contrast.
Whatever works for you. That being said, flat profile is not a LOG profile, so 8-bit should be fine with flat profile, since you’re not transforming colours from Rec2020 to Rec709. Personally, I’m not a fan of too much contrast in videos, but whatever works for you, stick to it.
@visualsbyst all log profiles I've worked with are rec.709 not rec.2020, including arrilogc. Any color or contrast adjustment in post is degrading, especially obvious for a delivery codec like 8bit h264. I urge everyone with the nikon z30 to try the Nikon Picture Control Ultility. You can achieve desired color and contrast in camera
Ok I have 3 Nikon z30 I run a podcast so only me I set cameras then go back and by time I’m done one is out of focus how do I keep them all IN focus! Remember only me and guest so I have nothing to focus on when setting up
I have an issue where the focus either hunts while I'm recording myself or it doesn't autofocus at all in manual mode. I can't seem to resolve it! Any ideas on what setting to adjust? I can't quite to AF-lock because I can't lock it while i'm ~15ft away where I will be standing for the recording.
I'm not sure why it wouldn't be autofocusing while in manual mode. Are you talking about manual focus mode or manual exposure mode? Maybe it is resetting the focus to manual when you switch. Try switching to Manual Mode and then pick autofocus again. If you're 15 ft away, it is possible that the camera can't find your eyes/face and that's why it's hunting. Especially if the lighting on your face isn't the best. What and where are you recording? Is it outside? Is it backlit by the sun sometimes? That might affect it. Your last resort would be to place an object where you will be standing, focus there, switch to manual focus to lock focus and then stand where the object was. Hope that helps.
@@visualsbyst Setting it to the "M" on the dial, not manual focus. I reset it to factory settings a few weeks ago, and for some reason it still seems to struggle. The lighting on my face may not be sufficient, but I am using a 85mm lens, so it does get a good zoom in on my face at that distance. I'll have to keep messing with it, perhaps trying to turn the autofocus sensitivity down may help it from trying to be razor sharp all of the time.
Change AF mode to AF-F and u will be good even without recording. Watch if u accidentally use manual ring on lens, cause it can disable AF. Also u can check if wide area(human) is better than auto area
@@visualsbyst i figured it. The mode i am in before saving a user profile (U1, U2, U3) decides whether the profile is in Manual (M), or Automatic etc. For instance when you are in A-Mode, you and save a user profile to U1,2,3 you cannot control the ISO settings in that profile. Thats really confusing but once you know it, you can set the mode before saving the actual profile. ^^
Great information, thank you!!
very helpful, right to the point. Txs a lot.
Thanks for watching!
Very nice video and advices !!
Thanks for watching.
It would be nice if you show us how to do this in the camera...
I thought I did. Which setting?

Put something where you would be sitting. Like a plant or something. Then focus, switch to manual and go back and shoot.

@@goodmanfishing try changing focus delay, I think that's what it's called. The focus should then be stickier and not hunt as much.

Flat profile it's like a LOG?
Not really LOG but similar. It’s a flat picture profile.
how do you change the specific ones
Which one?
Why shutter lock 25 s for movie
I don't know what you mean. Can you explain?
There is no possibility to use user profiles + manual iso. If someone finds this. Please reply :(
What do you mean by user profiles? The picture profiles, or the custom settings on the dial?
