  • Don't you just love to be able to die cut your stamped images for your card making or scrap booking? Having that image cut out allows you to pop it up or add it to another group of images. But those metal dies can be quite costly. A Brother Scan-n-Cut can replace your need for those metal dies. You no longer need to buy those dies - watch my video to find out why.

    Use your Brother Scan n Cut to cut out those stamped images. Now I am not saying there aren't some metal dies you may still want. There are dies that cut out and emboss beautifully, but you won't need those that specifically outline your stamped images which means you can spend more money on stamps.
    Join me and I will show you how you can use this machine to easily outline your stamped images.

    I have a scan n cut cm550 which i love but it has its limitations when scanning and cutting and something really needs to be done about the mats a pain when you have to keep using tape to stick edges down. Regards jean

      I am sure it can be done. I will do some research and do a video on it. :-). There should be a way to tell the machine that one set of lines is for the pen and another set is for cutting. You might have to do it in the software.

    I have been considering purchasing one of these for quite some time, but I have read countless negative reviews regarding issues with the mat, both in loading and tackiness. Have you had any of these issues? You are giving me hope!

    • @aprilscraftroom
      @aprilscraftroom  3 года назад

      I use the standard mat and I've not had any issues with the tackiness or loading the mat. Make sure you get the Scan n Cut 2 or higher as I did have issues with the first Scan N Cut recognizing my scanned images. When the mat loses its stickiness I use painters tape until I get a new mat. I've been very pleased with my purchase. Thank you for watching.

    Thank you for sharing! Do you use the software to make die cuts that aren't stamped? Like background panel dies and stencils fir welded images like butterflies? I was looking at purchasing these types of dies and/or stencils for card making and thought "duh, I could use my Brother for this instead!" Can you do a video tutorial?

    Hello April I was wondering how often do you need to replace your blades in the brother scan n cut thanks

    • @aprilscraftroom
      @aprilscraftroom  3 года назад +1

      Honestly I haven't used mine enough to need to replace the blade yet. I have only used it to cut out around stamps until recently. The blades must last for quite a long time. I am going to be doing some applique which is going to require cutting fabric, but I have a fabric blade for that. Probably not a great answer, but it's all I've got so far. LOL. Are you able to use a marker to draw a saved image and enlarge it?

    • @aprilscraftroom
      @aprilscraftroom  5 лет назад

      I am not sure I follow your question. You can scan an image and enlarge the outline around it by adjusting the size of the space around the image. You could replace the blade with a pen and draw it. Is that what you are asking ?

    • @RhondaRTEM
      @RhondaRTEM 5 лет назад +1

      I thought maybe you could use it to scan an image, and draw it rather than stamp it again.

    • @aprilscraftroom
      @aprilscraftroom  5 лет назад +1

      Yes you can. Once you scan it using direct cut and enlarge the outline around it you can choose draw instead of cut. And make sure you’ve loaded a pen.

    Hi April, I’m on the fence about buying either the Brother Scan & Cut or the Silhouette. I have the Cricut Explorer Air 2 and the Cricut Maker but I also want to stop buying dies all the time. I’m devouring all the videos that I can about each of the machines. Is it true that the Brother Scan & Cut can cut 3mil? Have you used the Silhouette? Thank you for doing these informative videos. Please take care and stay safe. ~Barbara

    • @aprilscraftroom
      @aprilscraftroom  4 года назад

      Thank you so much for watching my videos. I have not used the Brother Scan n Cut to cut thick material but it cuts paper beautifully. When using my Silhouette or Cricut I sometimes struggle to get a thick sheet of paper cut. I keep telling myself to become more familiar with the Brother software so I will use it more often. But back to your question. If you are specifically buying a machine to cut out images so you won’t have to buy dies for that purpose the Brother Scan n Cut is the machine for you. That being said the Silhouette is a wonderful machine and their software is top notch. But when you buy a Silhouette you are buying something very similar to the Cricut machines you already have. I have a Silhouette, several Cricuts and a couple Brothers. I enjoy each machine for different reasons. I use the Scan n Cut mainly for cutting out my stamped images. I hope this long winded answer helped.

      April Story Thank you so much for your response. Yes I guess it really comes down to the amount of money we have to pay for dies and it seems that since the pandemic the prices have been going up and being able to use SVG designs from Silhouette will also be useful. Your videos are honest, straightforward and so informative in an easy to understand format.
