That hair really suits her
A person baring their soul and you comment on their hair? Nice...
@@DT-lq1ds Better than the homophobe above you ass. How about you thank me instead?
D T I’m confused why you’re upset, wasn’t the comment a compliment?
Ray Jardiolin I’m not upset, but it’s a superficial observation from a deep conversation.
D T so it’s comment about her struggle, or don’t comment at all?
You are a magnificent interviewer. How is it that you are not on TV!!!!! Amazing and thrilled to have found your channel, such an honest approach to learning more about actors we admire.
Artemisia a he is. He’s on Directv. On the Audience channel. :)
She hit it on the head lol. Feeling guilty for feeling bad is basically the human condition in a nutshell.
It's honestly only something the kindest of hearts experience: she's privileged, and gets paid for doing the very thing that she loves. She knows others out there will probably never experience anything close to what she has, and so whenever she grows unsatisfied with the facets of her lifestyle, she feels guilty because there are those who're less fortunate. Most people in her position would only think of themselves, but she's thinking about others so much that it sounds like she beats herself up just for feeling bad (for having problems like any normal human being).
Nope, she is just gaslighting..
That doesn’t make any sense and that’s her problem. She’s using psycho-babble as cover for her real problems.
She needs to stop feeling guilty for being privileged. It's madness. She works hard for her money. She should be happy for the joy she brings to everyone because of the movies she's made.
Pelom Pelon - 😂🤣😂
My favorite role she did was actually in a video game. Beyond: Two Souls. It was amazing how much emotion she could put into a role.
I love her in X-MEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST
@David Roberts love that gatekeeping right there.
David Roberts I’ve been a dedicated gamer my whole life. We’re talking about 30 years of gaming here... I love the game and others like it. 🤷🏻♀️
@@MSorge13 are we forgetting her cameo in trailer park boys?
Derpylifeform I know about that, yes.
Not that it's *any* of my business, but I would be pretty curious to know if her experiences coming out of the closet have changed her view on Kitty Pryde, her character in the X-Men films. I say this because Sir Ian McKellen has been *very* public in saying that the X-Men films are the *only* superhero movies he is interested in doing, mainly because the underlying themes from the comic books of marginalization and rejection by society were something that resonated deeply with him as an openly gay man.
Those same themes are a *huge* part of why the X-Men are perhaps Marvel's top seller and have been for decades. What teenager can't relate to *that* ?
Not just teenagers! All ages can relate to that. Imagine just being a minority and relating to them, or just bring a woman, and even that’s not the whole group who can relate. Regular people feel excluded all the time at all times in life. Not calling you out, just sayin.
Also, certainly not how EP felt in comparison to Sir Ian. I wouldn’t exactly call Umbrella Academy a superhero show, but she did play White Violin on it.
you only know him from x-men?
Miro you really don’t read do you. He specified that it was the only “superhero” movie Sir Ian was interested to play in and for a very specific reason.
@@miro1641 how is quoting what sir ian said about x-men any indication that that is all this person knows him from?
@@miro1641 I've seen the LotR films. To me he's Gandalf along with Magneto. I know he was in Gods and Monsters and got an Oscar nomination for it. I actually thought that he had won an Oscar for his role. I think he was in Gosford Park, which I saw.
He was in the live-action Beauty and the Beast and played an elderly Sherlock Holmes in Mr. Holmes. I know that he is an acclaimed and very accomplished Shakespearean actor.
Disgusting the way people treat each other. Being gay should be like being left handed. Sickening that she had to suffer for no reason.
Most of the shit she said was just things she had in her head. She never mentioned someone else doing things to her, but only her thinking things. So basically it's just in her head.
actually when she was filming x-men and she wasn’t out of the closet yet her director outed her and treated in a bad way but she couldn’t say anything cause she wasn’t out to the media. so she was treated bad like every single lgbt people in the world
@@rymhrnblkc That sounds more like personal pride and insecurity, than a real issue that could be fixed by a real thinking adult.
Left handed people are dumb ;)

I love these interviews; Thank You for these. I would like to thank both the interviewer and the interviewee for creating these helpful articles (of video) so thank you again for these.
When she said "Not existing in a relationship in the way you could" and "How are you going to feel creatively motivated when you're - you feel like you're - just living in a way that's not true." This really resonated with me.
I'm not gay but I was in a long-term relationship which started off when I was in my early 20s and had honest beginnings. But life ended up testing me very differently than my then-boyfriend and in the process, I sort of became a different person. Towards the end, I was just miserable in the relationship. We had grown apart but our shared history and convenience of familiarity kept me staying hoping against hope our differences would even out. In this time, I developed attractions towards other men - none which I acted on, but would also push away - because I was in denial that I was now different. I placed a higher value of being in a relationship that I had outgrown than on my own growth. In the end, after sorting myself out in realizing and accepting the fact I had changed, I saw it as a morale imperative that I had to now do something about it so I broke it off. He and I are both free now to be loved in the way we deserve to be. But it was a tough realization to make and this was just a normal heterosexual relationship. I can't even imagine what the gay community must have had to go through. My heart goes out to them.
Strong woman right here
Alotta strong person*
Alotta nothing more cringe than saying strong WOMAN
capt rodgers - your masculinity is so fragile it hurts to look at. btw who tf are the "real ppl" you refer to? she seems pretty fucking human to me. just because you can't relate to her doesn't mean nobody can lmao. she's not a fucking robot. jealousy is a double-edged sword, my dude.

exactly how I feel. Except I'm 3 years older than her and I'm not out to even my family and friends.
snillocgrom Keep yourself a priority. Do whatever you need to do to make yourself happy.
snillocgrom Why do you have to tell them? Can you not just date the same sex? I don't understand why you have to tell everyone about your relationship?
Cabbage Lettuce It's not about telling people about your relationship, it's about being unconditionally accepted by your loved ones. That means everything. Hiding your relationship from loved ones, having to make up lies when they ask why you are still single, pretending to be a version of you they think you are while drowning in the fear that they will leave you once they know. These are all exhausting things. So sure, you could just not say anything and live a double life, but it will slowly eat away at your soul until you either fall into a deep depression or scream out the truth. Having a partner is a big part of someones life, and of course you want to share that with people. Not because you want to shove it down anyone's throat, but because you want to be free ro so what people do when in love: bring your partner over for get togethers, get to express your love free of fear like anyone else, you don't want to experience paranoia when out with your partner because a friend or family member might run into you. Being able to share with your family or friends is important because it's a part of who you are, and hiding it is not healthy.

It's whiny as hell!
This is a great authentic interview! +Love Ellen what a great lady
I love her, i love you Ellen Page. Since Juno, her likeness to Ellie, her playing Jodie from Beyond, Hard Candy, Umbrella Adademy.
They have to go through so much for something that's natural and a part of them
She looks more like Ellie, from The last of us 2, than Ashley Johnson.
If I remember right, she almost was.
@@sparksfly5877 not sure about that 🤔, but I recall when the first game came out people used to think she was Ellie.
Mayra Páez
She sure looks like Ellie, I can totally understand why. Also, I think she didn’t do TLOU cause she was working on Beyond Two Souls
Well in the first game she criticized ND for using her likeness without authorization so they changed her appearance in the trailers and the game before it came out (there are before afters on youtube).
Idk if she looks like Ellie in PART 2 since they change dher face to look more like Ashley Johnson but ye
LATE EDIT: I made it sound like she was petty but she just noted that it was a bad look since at the time she was starring in Beyond by Quantic Dream and promoting it. So it was bad to see herself in a "competitor" game and being asked about it while promoting another game...
@@sparksfly5877 true, beyond two souls is another good game. She did very well as Jody and as Ellie she would have done great too
and he came out again!! i love seeing someone being his truest self
Good one
this channel is friggin incredible. i know celebrities are humans but its incredibly intimate to see them as they truly are.
I've given up mostly on caring what people think of me personally. My friends and family are The only ones that need to accept me.
Most gays talking about their homosexuality: "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
Ellen Page: "gay people exist, chill".
@Mike Hammer What drugs are you on?
@Mike Hammer I was expecting to be insulted but this is actually really humorous. Keep on going please.
@Mike Hammer Yep. Peeps are effed up. Always have been, always will be.
I honestly don’t understand your post-the “I’m sorry, I’m sorry” bit. I’ve never once heard someone say “I’m sorry” when they came out. Nor should they, of course. So again-what are you talking about? Name one well-known gay person who has said “I’m sorry” as they came out. If that’s not what you mean, then what do you mean?
It’s devastating to know that so many of us are suffering because we don’t feel free to live authentically. There comes a time in which people just need to be free. 💛
This guy somehow creates an environment that must feel safe, is known to have integrity, is smart & sensitive & asks great questions...and then gets the hell out of the way so people can explore their answers. He then often follows up with another question connecting to what they just said. He is absolutely the best interviewer out there, IMO.
Straight guy here. Ellen Page being lesbian does not in any way diminish my crush on her. She's still freakin' amazing and gorgeous to boot. The way she came out was really inspiring and beautiful
john connolly - 😂🤣😂
There is no universal metric for pain, and people need to stop acting like there is...when you hurt, you hurt. Suffering sucks, no matter who you are, or want to be.
Super true. I’ve always thought talk of privilege as it relates to peoples expected behaviors and attitudes is just nonsense. What does privilege matter to someone who is deeply unhappy or even suicidal?
Its so true. People ask why matters... well it shouldn't. But it does, because everyone makes up their own story about you in their head. When that stops, so will coming out stories
Amazing that she is in fact talling about another closet she had to deal with while talking to him.
The amount of people criticising her for making a fuss and being a narcissist and whatever makes me think we still live in a very homophobic society -albeit a more hypocritical one.
I mean, she might be a narcissist to be fair
There will never be total peace for anyone. And people will always judge others for being different until the world ends
We live or at least many americans live in that. Homophobic zealous religious people are passing laws that target now especially trans people for example. Bannon, Ellens "archnemesis" ted cruz, romney are all in positions of power and know how to play the public.
Think of her what you want as actress but i deeply respect her for her activism. And i think public fuigures hve a right to feel a bit entitled to use their fame for a good cause. Also she does her research which stops her from going overboard on petty issues, passing laws under the radar is dangerous if you target a group, that should be called out.
@john connolly they're disgusted because they're scared, john. and why are they disgusted if they don't care? that doesn't make any sense.
Lots of people angry about this video. Why did you click on it?
And why do some people.not under that we still don't live in a society where people can be openly gay with zero consequences....
She is so amazing
Oh look it's Ellie

To those dishing the title, respect that this person was presenting this way at that point in time. We have to respect all phases of a person’s life and ways of being in the world. The wishes and desires of others evolve just as we ourselves evolve. On a different note, I think that Page is continuing to evolve and we have not seen what I feel is another phase coming as pertains to gender and sexuality. This is someone who is in transition of the mind - more so than many perhaps. In the present time, December 2022, I do not see a happy person yet, at least not publicly. I wish for Page true happiness in whatever form, forms, that it may take. Regardless, this is a fine actor with amazing talent.
sad that with so much support on this matter, that she suffered this long. I wonder if her choices were motivated by fear of losing money from being tagged in the industry.

what do you guys consider being out? to one person, just family and friends, or everyone you meet?

Ellen Page I love you and your movie career I will always support your career forever more.
I mean who didnt think she was gay when they first saw her lol
I really need to come out. It is toxic being closeted. I live in a neighbourhood where that is not ok. Fml.
Anonymous 1234 don’t worry- wherever you are, we acknowledge you and we see you. you’re not alone
Stay safe, but try to make a plan for when and how you will come out.
Move to another neighborhood. Either that or wait a couple years, people will learn to not care soon enough. The last two decades have shown people as a whole really are coming around.
I can relate to the idea of "feeling guilty about feeling bad"... but I don't see how this relates to her being gay? She even says she "came out" to her friends and family before coming out publicly (and their opinions are the only ones that should matter to her anyway), and it's not like Hollywood would hold it against her either.
Sorry if I'm being blunt, but I just don't believe the idea that being gay (or coming out) will cause you a great amount of scrutiny. I've never met a single person whose reaction to homosexuality is anything other than "fine by me, who cares? nothing wrong with it". Not once.
Oh sweet Elliot! I love him!🤍

Hi juno!
Time for an update here, I should think.
There's the contemporary assumption that the deepest, most persistent emotions inside of us are sovereign. Are they? What's happens when we are allowed to act on those emotions and the void inside still remains?
Tragic story.....

She is so great...
I don't hear people dissing each other over their favourite colours. Why is sexual orientation still a thing for some people?
You are awesome Ellen. Love you sweety.
There's some case you have to stay in the closet for your life
I have really enjoyed their movies. I feel bad to have enjoyed those movies when it seems like they were suffering.
You have that back to front, being successful provides the ability to turn of the phone and curl up in a ball, it's working day joe's who do not have that option.
I think that was referring more to being famous makes it hard if not impossible to "disappear". To switch off and just be alone.
I agree with you that money and fame probably makes it easier to mold the day to your own whims, while a working stiff has to go about their business as usual. But the working stiff can usually "enjoy" some sort of anonymity, that the famous person does not have.
The guy asks a question and then spends a long answering it himself.

@@WestCoastCanuck so you're going into hundreds of past posts telling ppl what you didn't know yet? Lol
for those that think she or anyone that is LGBT shouldn't talk about it (cause most str8s don't make their sexuality an issue) it is when someone like her doesn't tell others about her true self that things like Matthew Shepard can happen. How does he look more like Ellie than the chick who played Ellie??
A masculine female wants a feminine counterpart. As a feminine male I seek masculine women. Sexuality is a physical expression.. I always found her very attractive and I believe she would love me.
she looks like Elly from the Last of Us
Woah I expected her to be British
It's so obvious Naughty Dog stole her likeness for the Last of Us.
David Roberts But they are actually correct. One representative was talking about things online before (it may have been a reddit AMA, I don’t quite remember), and they had implied a little that she was an inspiration for Ellie. He just didn’t outright say it because he could get in trouble for copying her likeness... The original form of her in the deleted trailer (which was only online for a day) looked almost exactly like her, and then she was changed to look younger.
